All right, Peta, thank you. >> There was a huge state showdown today between the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Gators. >> I'm a Gator, but both teams kicking off their season in the swamp. And it was a shutout. Sports director Will Manso live in Gainesville with a look at the game. Those were some big numbers. They put up. >> Yeah, a lot of happy Miami fans tonight. Certainly not the case here in Gainesville. For Florida Gators fans, it had been 34 years since the Gators lost a home opener. Not only did they lose today, but the Miami Hurricanes dominating Florida in this opener. What a way to start the season for Mario Cristobal's team he had preached throughout the off season through camp that things would be different this team was making progress part of that progress, the addition of quarterback Cam Ward and his debut today, the transfer from Washington State, outstanding to Xavier Restrepo, 24 yard touchdown. Canes on top 24 to 10. Ward far from done. Third quarter. Look at this play. Buys time spins out. Keeps his head up. Makes a throw to the end zone a strike to Jacolby George 23 yard score to Ward with 385 yards passing in his Miami debut , and three touchdowns and one away for the canes to start the season. They stomped the Gators 41 to 17. The final. >> These guys have been through a lot and you know they made the decision that that's it. It was enough. They've had enough. And they were going to prove that by the way that they played the game. >> And they did that. And showed a lot of fans made their way through here. I know they only gave us 4000 tickets. I don't know how that's even legal. But anyways, I think a lot more of our fans found a way to get in the stadium, um, and want to make sure they were recognized by our players because once a cane always came. >> And the fans have made it out, many of them staying around the tunnel as the canes are part of the field, including Mario Cristobal. They were chanting Mario, Mario and it's great to be a Miami hurricane. It certainly was today, as the canes opened the season one zero with this impressive win in the swamp.
