Should the Fever REST players before the playoffs?? | The Elle Duncan Show

I just want this to be a PSA to all the women out there who spend so much money on their athleisure wear so that they can look comfortable and cool while also knowing that their pants were $125 and their shirt yeah was $100 that no matter how cutesy and demure you think you look there will be someone like Gary to ruin your self-esteem Gary sty looks at me in the current attire that I'm wearing before the show today and goes hey when you go get dressed for the show can you then take a picture you run the graphic I got some explaining to do but there's context okayl as there always is no there's not context true Falls did you say that did you say when you go get dressed can you take a picture 100% said that because as we know it's football season you hold you're hosting a thousand shows today I'm hosting a couple shows myself so what I meant to say was and what I thought was what I thought okay was translated was when you go change into what I thought you were wearing for Sports Center could you take a picture of this care package that my friend sent you that's not at all what you said I know cuz you didn't let me finish my sentence like what no you looked at this outfit and you thought I was wearing pajamas I did and you were like when you get TV appropriate can you pleas and I'm like well this is what I was going to wear on television that was kind of funny but then you proceeded to then go into the makeup room where Laura rutage and Hannah Storm and all of the wonderful hair and makeup ladies were in and you just decided to I snitched on you y'all wouldn't believe what Gary just yeah I was like for all you ladies out there who think that you're cute and your athletic gear there's just some man waiting to tell you you look like welcome to the L Duncan show then don't read the YouTube comments L because do I have something to tell you they're not nice to either of us right now they hate us both pitchforks are out uh we got a nice little Thursday show for you today because $100 on a shirt damn girl yeah man you know what I'm saying I'm just saying this shirt in particular was not $100 I'm just saying because you just got done telling me that you you're onto this new brand that's like a nice dupe like a dup I don't like spending a ton of money on athletic wear I'm just s that like you go to an aloe store and that's crazy expensive you oh stop you wear Lululemon that is nuts sweatpants are $200 it's crazy I buy Lululemon because they literally have a shirt called the fiveyear shirt and I've had them for five or more years and when they start peeling you can take them back and they'll give you another one for free it's an eternal cheat code L you could for real five years later go back and be like man the stitching's coming loose and they're like you're right take another one God you're cheap so I'mma be back in couple more years get my allotment the NFL is kicking off today and so we're gonna have field Yates on the show hell yes uh field Yates notorious for being probably one of the nicest guys that works at ESPN fantasy Guru uh front office Insider just a wonderful person um has never seen a tackling dummy he didn't like correct we'll get into all of that when we preview what should be a fantastic season that starts with the defending champs the Chiefs taking on the Ravens we're going to get to that M but I was so excited for yesterday's game because as I've been saying the fever have been so fun to watch yes they're they have been so fun to watch because in the beginning of the Season it was okay well we're watching for Caitlyn anyway and we're watching for you know her incredible passes and for her logo shots and to see how much more history she makes but because to your point she's elevated the whole team everybody's playing so incredibly well awesome and they were facing the Sparks uh on Wednesday night and um I was excited about that match up because while the Sparks are certainly you know a team that is playing like their their draft sure uh you know place um they don't have Cameron Brink they're trying to figure it out new front office like just they are a a team in transition yes Ria Jackson's been playing really well and certainly she's not gonna you know end up getting rookie of the year I think that thing has been shored up but she's been playing incredibly well on a team that's not getting a ton of attention because of where they sit in the standings but yet again the fever were amazing Caitlyn Clark notches second triple double she got the first one a couple of months ago she was the first rookie to ever get a triple double in the WNBA and now she joins only five other people in WNBA history to have more than one triple double in the same season and my favorite was at the end of the game when they asked her because she got that triple double literally on the last second she gets the rebound with like seconds left on the clock and they asked her afterwards because the Crowd Goes Nuts Kelsey Mitchell's reaction was hilarious she's like why are y'all losing your now she had no idea was right so Kelsey Mell didn't know that Kay was flirting with a triple double but they asked kayin afterwards like did you know that you were one rebound away from a triple double she was like of course I did for sure I do this what I do this don't you see us looking up at that box score hell yeah I'm G get this rebound right she fills it up she fills it up um and the fever already locked up a playoff spot on their night off yes but man this is the first time that they're going to be in the postseason since 2016 a seven season playoff drought and this is exactly what Caitlyn said the goal would be this year you know people right away were like are you guys want a championship she's like pump the brakes the goal is to get this team a above a 500 record B back in the postseason and that's exactly what they've done first postseason since 2016 that was three presidential administrations ago first time with an above 500 record since 2019 when they were four and three out of the gates to start the season L I think it's appropriate to start talking about now while okay we could be a little bit ambitious talking about Championship aspirations but I don't think it's too ambitious to say that nobody wants to see the fever and we can double down on that right now as it sits let's just say for the purposes of this experiment they're in the six seed so that means they are lined up with the Minnesota links who Rebecca Lobo said would be the dark horse to win a WNBA title in her estimation the way that they are playing right now they have another MVP candidate in neisa CER who's sort of leading the charge with that team but now we start to have some fun conversations with less than 10 games eight games to go left in the regular season with the N WNBA playoffs starting in 17 days talking about the cat and mouse game between the fever the rest of their schedule and where they want to potentially fall in this seating bracket right like are they going to take some games off at the end of the year because they play the Dallas Wings who they just beat earlier in the week they smoked them and then they played the worst team literally in the league next to uh the Los Angeles parks in the in the Washington Mystics like is this where they downshift potentially or you say no to that because of the way that they're playing right now and they have two more games against the Las Vegas Aces to which we've already sort of talked about well the aces aren't who we thought they were until they get to the playoffs like there's so many other storylines heading into the playoffs now that are pretty interesting with what we are going to see or not see from them well let's just like set the table for what those standings look like right now for the folks that are listening that don't know um you mentioned it that The Fever are locked in at the six seed right now um the lowest that they could fall would be to seven seed which is currently being occupied by the Mercury here just a game back from the fever but that's likely not going to happen right because they've swept them and the Mercury got to win out and basically the fever would have to yeah I mean it seems like a bunch of games well and then the right above the fever in the standings right now or the storm who have two games on uh the fever the storm I think just looking at their schedule have a little bit of an easier schedule than the fever do um the fever as a whole after the Olympic break had at least according to our metrics the easiest schedule but the next three games are a gauntlet for the fever the next three games the fever have to face the links tomorrow night on Friday night that is a huge game uh for the all the aforementioned reasons um they still have to face the dream who are a team that right now are battling with the Chicago sky for that final and you know what's so funny about that is like they have to play the dream and although we've pitted this whole the sky and the fever hate one another there's not going to be any bigger Indiana Fever fans when the fever play the dream than the Chicago Sky because they are neck and neck for the eighth and final playoff spot so they need all of the help that they can possibly no no no no why don't you throw out what you just proposed should the fever let the wet G hey yo I did say Caitlin Clark I mean listen should the should the fever let the dream win is that what you said I said should they head into this game strategically and maybe resting players that otherwise wouldn't be rested why huh why the fever aren't scared of the sky the fever have beat the sky three times this year can I can I throw in oh wait actually and then who's that third game that you mentioned this next Gauntlet so they've got they've got the links and the dream then the aces then the wings very winnable one of the worst teams in the league um and then they've got the they've got the aces twice back to back that's crazy back to back and then they'll close out the season with the Mystic so those last two games I'm with you if want to take a a rest bit a Break um a little bit of of take the take the pump the brakes a little bit maybe try and rest some people that's fine I don't I don't think you want to do that if you're the fever like here's the thing about the aces they are not who we thought they were at the beginning of the year but they still have Championship pedigree they still have the ability to turn it on they still have four Olympians on that team right like they are tried and true proven Champions and they've got the league MVP on their team and a Finals MVP and like they've they've got what they need I didn't know they traded for Cay Clark that's crazy you said MVP no that's crazy wild the fever are still a young team who as we mentioned haven't been in this they look like they grew up right before our eyes yeah like they're they're still a young team who is riding so much momentum right now in any other year if Caitlyn comes right out of college and has the sort of Gauntlet run that she's had to have I would say yeah rest her get her some they had the Olympic break she had a month off which is a huge part of why you're seeing so much of this team be reenergized too she got to rest they got to rest they got to work together they got to work on defense they got to work on schemes they got to practice together they got to watch film together you got to just like be together build team chemistry that's important too what's happening off the court I don't think that you want to do that in this situation I think you want to ride the hot hand especially for a team that is Young and doesn't have a ton of sort of seasoned vets to show them the playoff way so I think you don't pump the brakes maybe you consider it for that last game against the mystics but in particular because I believe that the aces are the only team that the fever have not beat yet and whether we think that the aces are as dominant as they were in the past or not they are still the defending two-time champs that is a great measuring stick game that is a great confidence booster that is a galvanizer you beat the aces MH hell let's just pipe dream it you beat the aces twice back to back like that is the kind of momentum the kind of Moxy that you want to carry into the post and then you could you could have a better case and more credentials to sort of fall back on like hey we ran through the gauntlet we beat who we were supposed to beat or at least who we knew we were going to see in the playoffs to see where we measure up against whether it be um the links this week or the aces back to back the juicy thing that I'm picturing based off of the rest of this schedule though is the fever 6 Seattle five so if the fever continue their winning ways which they're the hottest team out of the break sure five six straight eight of their last 10 if they somehow find their way into the fifth spot then the WMA playoffs start and then it would immediately turn around and be in Aces fever best of three out of the gate the four five which sick which would be sick hey is that on our air that is a r you know we got yes let's go let's go get to that five seed Let's Go Daddy needs a new shirt or a handful of them listen our colleague J sister EO place for the storm I'm not going to actively root for the storm to spit the bit and fall apart that's my bad I'm just saying if it was to happen it would be an unintended really great consequence for us just because that that would be an absolute ratings bananza honestly like the fever could be playing the Harlem Globe TRS or the generals and they're going to do really well it doesn't really matter right now no nobody wants them and you can understand why I think too like even the idea of like outlooking the postseason has even changed internally and talking about like well even what they believe they canish for Caitlyn as I mentioned for her it was just about getting this team back to the postseason and for a little bit um it was like okay maybe they can sneak in oh they're they're playing a lot better maybe they can sneak in as we've been saying they're not sneaking in anymore corre they are they have announced themselves they are coming in hot but even her comments about making the postseason yesterday tell me that they're dangerous because she has shifted from we just want to make the postseason to we're not celebrating making the postseason we actually believe that we can win a series isofs you know um save your coach shout out by the way to Christy sides who got coach of the month and this is a woman who like people wanted her job after a week MH I wonder if Lisa bler now that she left Iowa would come over and Coach the fever true she just down the way people were floating that like right away and Christy kept you know sort of asking for patience as well and now to see her get this accolades like good for her I hope it's a huge relief to her I hope that like we can finally put that to bed you know she is not on a hot seat like she knew what we all knew which is that this team would just need some time but it's it's dangerous that now they've shifted from we just want to make the postseason to yeah we don't want to just make the postseason we want to win a series we think we can make some noise and I tend to agree listen optimism and confidence go hand inand and it is a hell of a drug you win that best of three out of the gates imagine if they if they paired up against the Aces and knocked out the defending champs to get into the semi-finals then at that point sure right away and then it's just four teams right so you got 25% chance of winning it yeah give that yeah I like that the the W NBA gets right to it the NBA is like we're gonna have a thre Monon playoff the W's like you win one series you are real real close to being in the title we had eight teams in the playoffs what if we told you we're going to expand it to 10 and then we're going to have a playoff game to get into the playoff games yeah yeah and then we're gonna have an in season tournament correct and when LeBron retires we're going to do away with all of that because the Lakers at that point will have no chance of being a top 10 team in the Western Conference when he retires we'll go back to just eight we'll call it good nice and tidy uh yeah so anyway I think that we've exhausted in terms of what Caitlyn Clark has done what she continues to do it's a scary team that nobody wants to see fortunately we have the ability to see her for the next a little over half a dozen times in the regular season and she's going to continue breaking records the 100 triples the triple doubles she's going to get another one before the regular season ends Kelsey Mitchell um continuing to lead the team in scoring and and shouts to Aaliyah Boston last year's number one overall pick I mean having somebody be able to facilitate your scoring and be able to basically be the person that you needed all along to really blossom into the position player that you are built into being it's all you needed yeah well and here's the thing the scary thing is I don't even think they've tapped into like half of what they can be that's true too like that that is going to be a really really fun Duo to continue to watch but the other thing that I really have always liked about Caitlyn in the years I've been covering her in college basketball and I saw Wright Thompson talk about this on a podcast last week is her self-awareness and the thing that's always been really cool about Caitlyn is despite the fact that she is the show and we all know that she's always been incredibly differential and she was the same way in Iowa you know whenever all of the crowds um the scrums the media scrums when we would have media availability privately before the final four with the teams she would always make it about her teammates and the truth is she knew what we all know is that she can put up 40 50 points and that has not always been tantamount to winning and I thought what was really cool is despite all of the different things that she ended up getting she was like what rookie of the month and Eastern Conference player of the month for August and then as I mentioned her coach was named coach of the month but when she was asked about it she actually felt like Kelsey Mitchell was snubbed she felt like Kelsey Mitchell should have been conference player of the month or obviously not rookie of the month but conference player of the month and she just talked about like how incredible she is from the three-point line from the foul line she talked about her contributions and she's like I'm not trying to be corny but I'm just so grateful to even be her back court mate and I just think like that to me is what is really special about Caitlyn is that she has always tried her best to make sure that whatever Spotlight is on her is also Illuminating her teammates because she they they can only go as far as the team goes we saw that in the national championship with Iowa I mean her team played really really well to get them to that championship game Kaitlin couldn't do it all alone and they struggled in that game which is why ultimately ended up being um you know I won't say a blowout but it ended up tipping very far in South Carolina's favor and so she knows the thing which is that as as many points and dimes and all those things like I'm only getting these assists because my teammates are making baskets too and I just thought that was really cool and I think one of those things that we don't talk about enough about Caitlyn is that she's a great leader true she's a great leader she's a great teammate and um and I saw that when she was talking about Kelsey Mitchell who on any other team that she doesn't have to occupy with the biggest name in the WNBA would probably be getting even more shine y like we said before leading the team in fact I mean she had 36 point game last week that had they not got every single one of those 36 points fever winning streak comes to an end yeah exactly I mean a quiet 36 is insane correct like is insane to talk about yeah she's been phenomenal um we talked to Rebecca logo about you know a decision that Kelsey Mitchell is gonna have to make does she leave the fever and free agency sure hope not she's like uh 20,000 people in this Arena nah I'm straight I'll stay I think we could which as an as a complete aside do you think you would make a good professional athlete cuz they got to talk so much especially like baseball players before the game after the game 162 times a year if you are a professional athlete basketball player 40 games in the WNBA regular season you have to talk maybe and people might not recognize this because they see the sound byes on Sports Center and it's you know this 40c curated bit but it's because it's a 10minute scrum 15 20 minutes scrum every single day not just game day oh yeah practices yeah before and after oh we talk for a living and I know the behind the scenes and it's exhausting exhausting to talk that much my lips get chapped I get dry mouth my breast starts stinking it's it's bad for everybody yeah but some people are great at it I couldn't do it yeah she the the W as a whole um especially this year they changed some of the sort of media availability things because they recognized this is going to be a really big season and they wanted a lot of availability right like the more you make your players available the more chances it ends up on social or on television um and so they do they are always available and they are always having to talk um and uh and so yeah like listen I don't know where the common section lies or what they feel about what but I need it to be known to the people who know and they know the people who listen the people who have watched me color cover College women's basketball for the last three and a half years I'm a huge Caitlyn Clark fan I am a huge Caitlyn Clark fan as most of us are anyone who likes basketball likes Caitlyn Clark does she have haters I'm sure that she does there isn't a single very famous player walking this Earth that does not um bartello cologne I mean yeah that guy I think we all agree he's pretty great he was universally loved Everyone likes yanis too he's very likeable like he's a guy that's very likable you know he's so innocent that's cuz he'd be letting us into the bedroom where we're not supposed to be and he's like hey baby you wanna I'm like whoa who who whoa I know Twitter's changed but damn do you got to pay for this right right but I have only ever taken issue with the discourse around her sure not with her I think she is great and I think that it is not her responsibility some people say things like well I wish that she would do more to calm a small group of her fans from being so nasty I don't think that's her responsibility it's not her responsibility to check if you don't give it air right if you don't if you if and it's not well it's just it's not her responsibility to carry Char carries the weight of the league and her team and her endorsements and her family and all of this pressure already it's not on her to be burdened by social media clowns um so I don't think it's on her to do that I think she spoke to that a few months ago I don't think it's her responsibility but I do think it's the responsibility of people to know that when you are endorsing another player it does not mean you are inditing her correct when you are giving love and showing love to someone like Asia Wilson because you are so impressed with her play because you think that she is the MVP and I would say most basketball Minds would agree with you on that um it's not because you don't think Caitlyn's great when you are making these arguments or having debates about players unless someone explicitly goes I think this person sucks that's not hate it's just it's just discourse and I in general I've been very very disappointed in the discourse that surrounds her in the weaponizing of her but not with her this has nothing to do with Caitlyn I am an actual fan which is why I knew early on she would be just fine which is why I knew they did not need to stack the decks in her favor which is why I was not one of the people going why would you make her schedule so hard I knew cuz I watched her that she would be a dog and man she is a dog and I love that the personality is coming out now that Caitlin that we saw in college that's shushing the crowd that's like playing it like that fire is a huge part of why she also became so scary for her Ops right but that's what I'm saying is like she was doing that in college and I think there was a large part of her that wanted to be a little bit more reserved you come into a new place right you want to like get the lay of the land you want to be that person after the fact 100% she's like that scary she just like she's like us just like us just like us but I I love to see her it feels like she's coming out of her shell in the personality Department as well and giving us so much of that I I I mean I remember two years ago so many of the questions were for Caitlyn and even for Angel before they sort of were pitted against each other before they played in the in the tournament and the questions were always surrounding those two in terms of you know showing fire and talking your mess and like is it appropriate and and both of them saying the similarly the same thing which was this is like Caitlyn's like I grew up playing against my brothers like I like that's what we do we talk our like that's what's missing from the game is that like we should be allowed to be that confident and we should be able to be bragado do and beat our chest and play into the crowd and play into the Rivalry thing like that should be a part of the game and for the beginning of the Season despite how well she was playing that's still I wasn't seeing that from her and now like she knew she had to earn it she knew she had to earn it she has and boy has she let me some eyes Okay L Duncan says Caitlyn Clark for MVP all right we'll be right back got to take a quick commercial but you heard it El said it this guy oh man I'm so excited about the kickoff to the NFL season I'm more excited that we get to bring in this momentum occasion I said momentum occasion hell yeah momentous this next guest get us flustered a little bit he's making me a little nervous get he's very smart he's very handsome even though he's apparently very bad at tackling tackling dummies on the beach I'll need to see some proof to be determined field Yates our NFL superstar our fantasy Guru joining the program field uh for those people that don't know what happened to you when you were in the Bahamas field yeah you know Al I think it's an interesting question that you lead with there because I'm wondering what happened to the tackling dummy no one's asking about him and he might be broken in half um yeah uh it was yeah it was for our fantasy draft order and the best part was like maybe not the best part uh maybe the worst part in some ways was that uh this was this big event we're doing the first time all these fantasy leagues and all these people that love fantasy football met up in the Bahamas of all places like one of the coolest places on Earth and all of these people are hardcore into fantasy so I sort of came under the microscope when it was my turn to compete the 40 yard dash and the obstacle course so everybody had their camera going like after the fact my wife who was in route on a plane when this took place was like well did anybody catch it on video and I was like which would you like you know how like the NBA has because it's an arena like they have just it's so easy to fix cameras like Steph hits a three and it's like let's see it from 37 angles 37 angles of my attempt to tack a dummy which was successful it just also successfully dislocated my shoulder and tore my labor I don't mean to laugh at that exact moment can I just say can I just say how ridiculous our jobs are because field LED that whole thing with I was in the Bahamas kind of lered up doing an obstacle course dude our jobs are fake man it's unbelievable but pH you're going under the knife dude you're going to be are you going to be okay for like football season this is your livelihood man um but yeah we had I have having surgery next week yeah I'm going I'm going into uh into a little laum tear surgery so that'll be me oh my God you know what what I love about uh field though is his commitment to the bit because afterwards when you watch the exact moment where he dislocates his shoulder you see everybody come up to celebrate with him and like right away the arm is dead the arm is completely dead you can see that is out of socket I mean it is and he's you know he's still like appreciate he's still like trying to high five Daniel do and Sh and he's still like yeah yeah and he's trying to stand there and be a g you know he's got his muscles out it's the gun show he's standing there in Trunks and he is clearly in pain but he has committed himself to being the tough guy and he toughed it out and I'm just really proud of you field I'm very proud of you and it's very relatable you got you know what you got high on not liquid courage you got high on The Moxy of people being around and expecting you to perform this is happened to me if you put me on a stage in front of a big group of people and you put on oh I don't know swag surf I'm going to I'm going to use my knees and the problem is is that these knees are now 41 years old but you can't tell me that because I think I'm Meg the stallion and I did that recently and everyone was losing their mind oh no the Auntie out here you know dropping it and doing her thing I could not walk for three days and I'm pretty sure I tore my ACL it was worth it 100% it was worth it are you sure about that yeah God that's a good question whether it's worth it or not but L I have seen you like you are I mean and everybody knows as like legendary ESPN but like I really believe like if you had to put l if you had to put anybody from ESPN in like a talent competition like one of those one of the shows whatever America's Got Talent American Idol like you would definitely be pick 1.01 from ESPN like every time I see you hear you sing or impersonate somebody or dance I'm like where where did we find L Duncan you were at unicorn congratulations you're very sweet I love when people say that too I'm like yeah I'm the best singer out of Sports Center anchors I'd I I've handicap the field a little bit I would say ESPN if that makes you feel any better I don't want to Paton ho into sports center who's even second yeah I listen I'm the only one annoying and audacious enough to sing all of the time so I think that's probably I'm sure there's some hidden talent people just you know have shame one one yeah and they don't want to like show that they can do it but field let's get to the main thing because the NFL season officially kicks off tonight tonight is Thursday that's when we're taping that's where we're talking to field so we want to play a little game with you called field in the blanks in the blanks let's get it let's get it let's get it horn horn horn horn it's very self-explanatory but we'll explain it anyway for the people in the back we will just give you a sentence and you finish the statement are you ready field Yates I am ready don't be surprised if Josh Allen wins the NFL MVP this year which I don't know how audacious that is but it is my pick it has been submitted on ES espn.com and actually posted I think a little earlier today um the bills are an interesting taste case test right now is there are some people that are sort of like maybe they're House of Cards after trading ston Diggs and losing Matt Balano one of their best defensive players in the preseason like is this team going backwards before we can take a big step forwards once again I kind of feel like everything is on Josh Allen shoulders and I think that might be a good thing for his MVP case maybe I'm just buying too much into the Josh Allen height but I do believe that after Patrick Mahomes if I were to make a roster from scratch today to compete for the next five or 10 year window Josh Allen be my number two pick and I think at some point Josh ends up winning an NFL MVP and in some ways not having that like sort of established wide receiver star around you can help your case right because as you guys know narratives often shape MVP cases or Coach of the Year cases and the narrative right now going into the season might be that the bills don't have this much around Josh Allen and if they are going to be great it's going to be because Josh Allen Flex is a superpow muscle okay from a perspective MVP in the eyes of field Yates and they are wonderful eyes to a guy who's wanted a bunch of times Patrick Mahomes and his team the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce breakup contract is non-existent yes thank wait I I didn't see that floating around the internet but that's that's that's fake news right there come on now like definitely now I I I will be the first to admit and I'm not trying to be like uh you know I'm the person that's above what what everybody loves in like sort of day day-to-day culture but I didn't spend that much time deep diving it but I I just had a like that that felt farfetched to me um I am a Taylor Swift fan but not like hardcore like know every last song like some are which I mad respect for her but like I I just I I I'm not I don't even know who my favorite is right now it's okay you know that's okay you know I know that you know some people have a deep affinity for them but I I from what I know about each of them which is very little on a personal level uh it certainly seems like that would be a stretch I don't know do you guys buy it am I missing this one entirely completely fake and honestly like listen I know that this very time last year I was the one going it's a stunt once we establish that this is a real relationship and it is I am so weirded out by people trying to predict the ending of it it's just weird to me like leave these people alone they're happy they're in love they're doing the world together they're doing you know concerts together they're hanging out at a Road Island yeah like that's the golden key like it's like they're in love and they're happy and they're free and they're not bothering anybody and I just don't understand why we're out here trying to predict when they're going to break up it's weird mind your own business get it me and field are more Sabrina Carpenter people anyway so we're not like short and sweet baby let's go she she has the song espresso if I'm not mistaken I saw it that's the one that's that me espresso me you know the girls are bumping that at the crib so you can't sleep we got a lot of like uh like Miss Rachel songs in our house these days and like you know the theme for Paw patol so yeah lie her it's like a lot it's like they get she comes in closer and closer and it's just like I love you man anyway it's this is going to change the way that I watch it yeah it's just it's a lot of mouth play it's just like a ton of mouth play um all right blank will be the best rookie quarterback this season oh Caleb Williams and I know that's lwh hanging fruit right because I know I know he's the number one overall pick but one thing that I was uh steady and consistent with in my stance over the past I guess you call it about 12 months but whenever you feel like we talk I guess yeah because the beginning of last college football season is I felt like Kay was the best quarterback in the entire draft and while jayen Daniels made a push and obviously made this a fascinating draft this past April in a lot of ways because it reminded us that how we feel about a player going into his final college football season is very different in a lot of cases than how we feel about him coming out of his final college football season I never felt like the Gap narrowed to the point that it was a real debate between Kaleb Williams and Jaden Daniels about who would go number one overall Caleb Williams uh maybe it's because we are bored of a player who's been hyped as the number one pick in the 2024 NFL draft presumably for like two seasons but he's a really special football player who enters into a great situation I know it's been said a million times that be the one million and first or 1 million in month I don't know one million in first one okay yeah that one um person to say it uh that it's about as good of a situation as you could possibly imagine for a number one overall pick right between the stady group of wide receivers capable enough offensive line just a roster in general that is not reflective of what most number one overall picks are joining so Caleb's in for a major major rookie season well he's got really big shoes to fill as well because Rex Gman oh my God Jesus he's the last quarterback to take him to the Super Bowl I think that defense took him and Rex Gman just got a ticket he he just got a seat on the bus field I got one more for you by the way speaking of the Chicago Bears offense yesterday I was in a fantasy draft and DeAndre Swift was drafted like in the 70s and I thought to myself how do we let that fall all the way to the 70s I wonder what field Yates would think about that PR think how did he slide I don't know I think people forgot like that he was it was a keeper League I thought it was tswift not D Swift and they were like no I'm sick of like you can't play five times in 30 second promo that's a little too much okay Phil last one for me is Aaron Rogers will have a blank season good good season right but man I tell you what like coming in like yes like now we should be optimistic about the Jets right because right now everything is other than Hassan reic who as of right now is not with the team but like everything else is in place like the offensive line is still all healthy like they have six capable offensive linemen they're just it's a it's it's a team that makes you nervous because they can certainly be a house of cards right they one injury away and I'm not I'm not talking about the Aaron Rogers but to any of their Central figures on the offense not Nam Aaron Rogers and it could look a whole lot different uh I'm not here to tell you that Aaron Rogers is washed or anything close to it but um Aaron Rogers last season in Green Bay was fine it was far from spectacular it was good it wasn't great um and that's the question I think the Jets have to figure out this year is like is Aaron still capable does he have the Wizardry to push them back over the top they've got a ton of talent and yet this team has so much expectation that you guys know things start slow for the Jets and by they play the defending NFC champion in we want a Monday night football at their house it could be a very very interesting pressure cooker for the Jets because it's New York Win Lose or Draw they're going to be on you and if they don't come out of the gates red hot we could see some serious serious narratives developing early Hassan reck leverage play he wants the J to get smoked yeah he does I mean listen you like a big part of I uh am on team it's a bigger loss than people are making it out to be I think I I hear a lot of our sort of co-workers say like well he was never on the team but so much of how they like to run Hassan reic right like he's joining this team how can he be a significant loss when he's never been on it but so much of what they like to do defensively is predicated on them having a great pass rush and they lost their guy right like Ru is gone I just think it's a bigger deal than we're making it out to be but I also think that's a very measured approach about Aaron Rogers it's okay you guys to say we don't know we don't know how a 40-year-old coming off an Achilles tear is going to respond we don't know and that is okay the dude's been hurt a lot it's not just the Achilles tear even his last season in the with the Packers he was hurt which is why he said it was such an average year so I just I think it's okay to go we don't really know we don't know because so many people are just giving him the benefit of the doubt but we don't have any test cases for 40y olds coming back from Achilles tears and being fantastic but certainly we'll see I've got one more for you the worst fantasy football punishment that you've ever heard of is O I mean I've definitely heard of people like having to serve as human targets for paintball guns that sounds pain like I wouldn't do it um I thought this was a good one naked yeah this was a good one that in a league that I'm in uh 11 buddies of mine so uh there's 12 of us in total so the loser had to run eight and a half miles to a bar the rest of us were at the bar with this credit card and once he started and until he got to the bar the credit card was ours for the taking uh no food just drink drink only uh but I mean 12 11 people like in what what ended up being like just under an hour and a half like that was a pretty steep tab just for losing your fantasy football leag that's like I love that that's so smart that's awesome hold on field just because I'm the you know I'm the pessimist I'm the detractor how do you guys ensure that he just doesn't hop in Uber we had um uh the iPhone like find my location tracking thank you yes we had we were we were F very meticulously and I got to tell you what if he did somehow like Hoodwink us and like gave his phone to somebody else or like put it on a bike and just like slowly pedal um he did an incredible job of making his body when he arrived to the bar look like he had just run 8 and a half miles like the sweat uh you know like everything about he looked a little bit disheveled like looked like over like I I was impressed because I don't know that I could have not I could have run eight and a half miles I haven't done that in a long long time um but I also was like dude like we need to get you some like we need like seven waters for you right now yeah is that is that tell tell us that was trauma is that the same group of course did duh it was the guy who put Fields hospital bill Zach was the uh the one he was the guilty party in that one so to close out with field we talked about Field's injury field posted on Instagram and it was hilarious that one of his many fantasy football leagues decided to F with him and change all of the names to something related to his trauma Bahama trauma there was all kinds that were just so fantastic so as we say goodbye to you we wanted to know if we could throw out a few of Our Own M please yes I would love that okay here's mine nervous shoulder be more careful that feels very brain Scott right there I got one um no more jagging off wow oh my God don't respond there exactly shrink away my mic just broke nope oh no oh God it's the internet fi we can say it this one's my personal favorite Field of Screams yeah yeah yes sadly there were some screams I don't want to admit that out loud we're not oh wait we're man they were manly and they were super deep grunts maybe some grunts yeah in the in the true vein of fantasy football Insurance pick o y y yeah Y and also just sort of as aside waiver Insurance claim oh okay yep that that's fantasy football not bad um I've got one more for you especially as we're moving into fall uh this is when people start really paying attention to baseball field I know you also like baseball so I thought we could do a mash up and do sling it a Miss oh my god wow that's pretty good right there I actually think that's my take yes I will be for about a month starting next week ah son of a gun I know goes back to my first team name all I'm saying slinging in the pain field dates I want to be invited to your cavernous office one of these days that's all I want to say invite is on the table anytime you guys want we appreciate you so much field Yates uh good luck with your fantasy teams this year I hope that you don't have going to just have to find out tomorrow when I do the Highlight because I thought it was going to be behind a pay wall but youor as you do gave me that good information about how it's available on standard cable so now I'm more excited so I don't care who wins but I know it's going to be the Chiefs the Chiefs okay I mean they're calling it a Revenge game AFC Championship Ravens dropped the ball but it's it's Patrick Mahomes until proven otherwise yeah I mean anytime you choose against the Chiefs people call you an idiot and anytime you choose for the Chiefs people call you an idiot oh wow what a stretch wow great analysis it's like our Kaitlyn Clark comments right now it's like we're just stupid both of us are dumb um I'm only going to go with the Ravens for I'll go with the Ravens for this idiot alert I'll go with the Ravens for this reason which is that because of injuries um the chief's defense okay only took snaps together at least they're they're starting project starting offense or defense only took snaps together this week at training camp so there's going to be a lot of in-game adjustments are going to have to happen also because the Ravens just completely abandon everything that they do well in that AFC Championship game I'm hoping run theing ball I'm hoping that they've learned their lesson I think Derrik Henry right like they got Derrick Henry now and because if the Chiefs ever show any weakness it's in the beginning of Seasons I mean they lost last year's open exactly so they're the most getable in this first game I'll go with the Ravens for that reason alone how do we feel about tomorrow night sa Pao Brazil between the Packers and the Eagles who you got all right so that one is behind a pay wall so I'm G have to let you know Saturday morning oh perfect give me the Eagles I know Jordan love just got paid and yes you know people are already calling him a top five top six quarterback in the NFL understand that the Packers went on an absolute heater on the back half of the season they beat the Cowboys in the playoffs that being said the Eagles were not the Eagles in the backand back end of their season getting dispatched by the Buccaneers I think they regain form this year give me the eagles they have one of the best offenses in the NFL saquon Barkley now a new addition it's going to be a weird neutral site game and I don't really like those for many reasons with the turf and stuff but anyway give me the give me the Eagles yeah I think the Eagles have the most approved they've got the most pressure um certainly they need to show that they're taking steps in particular Jaylen Herz they were very predictable last year on offense they've got Kell Moore there now I'm going to go with the Eagles for that reason alone as well um so fly equal f as for those other games well which which other games yeah you'll just have to holler at us on the flip side straight up watch sports center we'll have the highlights happy watching see
