HUGE NEWS about Washington Nationals number 1 prospect Dylan Crews

hi everybody this is the baseball height the amazing spectacular terrific the great one the people's Champion your host and welcome back to baseball two hope you like this video and hit that subscribe Buton so we're back here talking about um the Nationals I know it's always something we like to talk about here but actually got some big news in the Nationals about uh their best player in the minor Le that's and their number one pick from last year Dylan Cruz that's from MLB trade rooms headline Nationals to promote Dylan Cruz National plan to provide a promote Prospect Dylan Cruz BR Grant pulson of MLB Network radio Cruz will be making his major league debut when the NS host the Yankees on Monday the young alfha is not currently on the club's 40 man roster but they already have a vacancy there let they use that roster spot over the weekend only corresponding act the roster move will be necessary Cruz who's now 22 was selected with the second overall pick in last year's draft after his Louisiana state teammate Paul SK was taken first by the Pirates Cruz put up huge numbers at the plate throughout his college career and carried that over into his professional career at the drafted him last summer the Nets got his feet wet with some time at the complex League level single a and double a hit 292 105 159 play appearances now he's the second player picked in last year's draft he could have very easily went number one um the Pirates could have picked him I mean there was a lot of talk he's an elite Prospect an elite player as well as uh Paul skem in terms of just as as you know in the draft I mean just they just had incredible college careers coming into 2024 Cruz was already considered one of the top 10 Prospects in the sport and he's continued to justify that status here in 2024 the Nets started him at doublea and he got into 51 games that level this year he had 274 while also St on 15 bases he was then promoted to Triple A and has played 48 games at that level producing a 271 batting average while swiping another 10 bags and addition to that strong work at the plate on the base paths Cruz is considered a strong Defender who could stick in center field for the long for a long time the Nets have given him a bit of time in the corners but mostly had him up the middle I likely view him as a fit D for the future his ability to contribute on all facets of the game he's unanimously viewed as one of the best prospects in the sport the moment baseball Mar currently lists him fourth overall though pH Nat James Wood is listed number one and has since graduate from Prospect status effectively putting Cruz in the number three spot the other two guys the head of crews are already in the majors Jackson holiday the Orioles and Junior cero of the Rays van crafts has crws at six ml pipeline at number three ESPN at number 12 and Kei law of the athletic at number seven Nats have been in rebuilding mod for a few years and have been gradually building a core of young and controllable talent in addition to the aforementioned wood they have short stuff CJ Abrams pitcher McKenzie Gore and others their record is 58 70 does year Well out of contention so they can focus on playing young players and getting them acclimated to the big leag they're only 12 games under the 500 this is not this is not a train wreck okay this is not the white socks this is not the Rockies oh they're not a mess it's likly not a coincidence that Cruz is being promoted at this part of the calendar as in that should be able to keep his rookie status intact for 2025 um to lose rookie stands a position player needs needs to either spend spend excuse me 45 days on an act of Rost or L 10030 of bats there are now less than 45 days left in the 24th season so the net will undoubtedly manage his playing time in such a way that he doesn't get to that 130 bat threshold that is significant due to the prospect promotion incentive an attempt to mitigate service time manipulation Collective bargain agreement allows clubs a chance to earn an extra draft pick if they promote a top prospect for a full season and that player goes on to win rookie of the year or meet other Awards voting criteria by keeping Cruz a rookie for 2025 n will have a chance to reap that reward if he ends up sticking on their roster for all next year I mean this is a an unbelievable move to see a player that was in college he was on a uh championship team in college last year with uh Paul skin and I said he could have went number one in the draft last year that's how good he is uh and he's considered an elite player in the in in in uh college and he's considered a lead uh player in the minor leagues so he has a real chance he has a real chance to be a very special player and he's going to be a pain he has for teams particularly in my Mets over the next six seven years so want to thank you for watching this video hit the subscribe button and I'll see you later
