welcome back it's the big blue banter New York Giants football podcast I'm Dan schne joined as always my coost Nick lto recording part three and part two on the same day but they won't be released this is the mailbag episode if you enjoy please please please hit that like button it's going to take you one and a half seconds it's done wonders for us by me pushing this so This eventually turned to a bit at this point Nick like I'm gonna be asking for this like button a lot just help us out sure that won't get annoying oh it's G to get annoying it's already annoying but hit that like button and I can't wait to see the comments complaining about this uh even though it only takes one and a half seconds of your time and it's nice and just do a nice thing for us we'll do a nice thing for you which is deliver more mailbag content with your questions answered so let's get right into it Nick with green machine 99 who says what do you think of the idea of signing Dak Prescott and assuming we have a high he says assuming we have a high draft pick in the draft so for example we have a bad year we get a blue CHP uh draft pick we can get will Johnson the amazing corner and sign Dak Prescott if they did that where would that put them in the NFC it's hard to say I have no idea how the NFC is going to look at that point I think bringing in a Dak Prescott though would be excellent because he's a real I would say above average good starting quarterback who has kind of has this reputation of being a joker if we're going to be uh real which is a valid reputation at this point because he hasn't really won much in the NFL but still I believe in his skill set and I would love to get a blue chipper but if there's a bunch of quarterbacks as well in this draft class class and the Giants are picking let's say fourth or something and the Giants have the opportunity to get that quarterback I I'd like to pursue that but there's so much conjecture here because we have no idea what the situation is you know so uh but I'm open to anything this far out it's a great question I think Green Machine Nick's right it depends I think on our evaluation of the quarterback class because if we have that high draft pick and we're in position to get a quarterback that we believe in Nick and I we're going to choose that route instead because the signing Dak press Scott route means you're going to pay him probably a top five if not the highest paid quarterback contract that's just how things work it'll probably be top three uh maybe top five with that said I'm not closed book to it because I think in general he's a very very underrated quarterback in the NFL by the majority of fans because some interceptions he's thrown at bad times and because of no playoff success which hasn't always been his fault but what he brings to the table is often times not really realized unless you're watching the tape and it's anticipatory throw it's recognition of defense's rotation post Snap recognition pre- snap getting the ball out of his hands putting it in spots leading it there's a reason he throws for 4,500 and 4,000 and 35 touchdowns despite having one amazing receiver and not that much else I know he has a good old line but it's because of anticipatory throwing I promise you it's because of that and that doesn't make him perfect he throws picks when he shouldn't he's been bad in bad spots so I'm not all in on him by any means but at this stage of it I'm open to it let's just say that I'm not all in and I know you're not either but I'm open to getting what I would consider an obvious upgrade at the quarterback position even though it would be costly it's not like they're not paying for quarterback as is they've just paid big for quarterback the last two years it would just be another what 10 12 million to the cap for a what we think we both would consider a massive upgrade I know not everyone agrees with that but I think it's pretty obvious to us um so I'm open to it but again if we can draft someone that's still the best option Chris Gerard I hope I'm saying that correctly asks do you think with the uncertainty at quarterback two and growing pains from a rookie slot that Bowen might use more three safety sets especially earlier in the season maybe uh I think it depends on matchups though like you can't just run three safeties out against some teams depending on who their slot receiver is going to be who they're going to match up in the slot you're just not going to have enough speed or quickness at that position uh in my mind at least your thoughts yeah big dime Big Nickel I think you're going to see that but it's not just because there's a lack of faith in the cornerback two room there's going to be that quarterback two out there I think Drew Phillips will also be out there if he's healthy and ready to go and it looks like that he is at this point I want to say after getting dinged up in training camp but I still think you're going to see those three safeties out there big dime big nickel and also because Tyler nuban will likely be and it all signs are pointing to him being the starter and I think they do like danne Belton so getting your best secondary out there will more than likely include Dane Belton but I don't think that's a I don't think that's going to come at the expense of an outside quarterback that guy's still going to be out there or at the expense of of Drew Phillips I think it will more so be at the expense of the second linebacker great Point vat kurick says yes or no question we still don't know how good joen is as a drafter but if he will be dra drafting as good as he is as a Trader is he then Elite is he then Elite if he Nails some of these draft picks like he has the trades I've liked the trades that he has made now the Darren Waller one takes a lot of [ __ ] I'm fully supported that trade and I have no qualms about the fact that I did support the trade if you were going to go in you had to go all in so go all in and it just did not work out blew up in their face obviously but uh I don't know if it makes him Elite but you know just hitting on certain picks would be would be nice at this point and he he's gonna need to really hit on a lot of like picks especially late picks if Evan Neil Josh zudo and Cordell flat continue on the descending trajectory that it seems like they're on right now I don't think that that will continue being that negative I think we're going to see some positive stride specifically from Neil at least that's what I'm hoping because it has been so negative this point but if those three are flops it's like it's going to be a lot that he's going to need to to um to do to rectify that I think it would be like a whole draft class of just absolute studs and they all translate to success on the football field yeah I think you're right that leads us into this question from Michael Melendez Who Says with Neil back and presumably Healthy Start the season would you rather have him as the swing tackle or start trying to transition him to guard I think we answered this one um two two podcasts ago I would like to I would like to have him at tackle ideally but I'm not kicking Germaine lumor out so then yeah I think you to train him at guard if you want him to be one of your starters depends on how you value a 34y old Greg van Ron and an Aaron stiny and it's a shitty place to be in right now for Evan Neil ideally we want him to start a tackle but I think you can't get rid of Germain lumor so train him at guard see where he's at take it day by day practice by practice and and just uh evaluate and consistently evaluate where he is phys physically mentally and all of that Dane MEF has two questions Nick the first one's fun if you could change the outcome of one major event in Game of Thrones what would it be and why for example Ned doesn't go to the or Ned goes to the wall or Viper kills the mountain oh okay um Viper kills mountain is cool now this is a ah I'm gonna go with Ned I think because I remember watching we watched some of Game of Thrones together and Dan already had known what happened and I remember saying to you and Diana I was like oh yo Ned the main character this guy's great and you're like oh who's the main character and I was like oh [ __ ] I was like it's Ned right and you guys like oh yeah he's definitely the main character and like when you said oh who's the main character I was like oh this guy's gonna die and he freaking died I should have said that yeah sorry spoiler alert right I kept the Jon Snow thing in good though ah you you spoiled a lot dude you were a big spoiler what did I spoil besides that dud when the dragon died you were like oh you know what that means and I'm like that can mean a lot that could mean a lot Dam Burning Down The the ice wall yes they could yes a dragon could do that I don't remember saying that but that's the ending of that show sucks so bad that I don't even care about I didn't I didn't spoil the Red Wedding for you I know that and I didn't spoil the purple wedding either great job with that yeah completely those are the two big ones by those ones yes and those are good ones but I do apologize for spoiling any um I would say for me it's not NE that Ned goes the wall I say it's Ned doesn't go to King's Landing at all that's what I would have loved to change Ned just stays up Winterfell the whole team is up there and that's it because everything started because he went down there to King's Landing and then that happened which led to the war all that [ __ ] I don't want to spend too much time on this but I think actually I might have to resend what I said because Ned Stark dying was such a pivotal part like you couldn't have Ned alive and Ned was way too competent like Rob had to assume that role and be the young wolf right and be the young leader in order to First be dominant and then eventually kind of lose his way through the love and all that kind of [ __ ] but I think Ned being there would have provided too much competency to the north you know what I'm saying yeah it would have changed the whole story it would all the fun stuff he had to die and there had to be that bad blood between there was already bad blood with the kid getting pushed out the window right with the with the laners but that that like Ned getting his head chopped off you're like all right let's move on like what's your ideal setup he also wants to know for watching a Giants game where and what food are you uh eating and what are you drinking um I'm usually drinking water or like because I have to work all right let's say I'm like I'm not working I'm not covering the game for whatever reason I like to have a nice glass of scotch nice glass of whiskey having a good time you know uh some hummus some celery some some carrots some wings as well you need to get the protein in there and I would have a big like 60inch 70inch TV with the Giants on it and then I would have a little TV a smaller one like a 40 inch with NFL Red Zone on it I like it I I like so the number one thing with you nailed Nick is you need to have a two TV setup that's key to a good football watching experience you need to have Red Zone on one Giants on the other Red Zone gets no sound Giants get the sound Red Zone always gets the smaller TV these are facts now past that I'm drinking Selter uh let's just be honest I talked about this last podcast the Andrew huberman pod just killed my interest in alcohol unless I'm drinking socially with friends weddings things like that going out at home I'm not going to drink uh I'm just not interested in alcohol hurting my sleep and hurting my health um now if it wasn't for work I'd probably enjoy a to or two I'll tell you that because that's not as bad for yeah inedible def not bad it's definitely not bad for your health no it's not good for your health but it's not like alcohol it's not as crazy bad um but I won't do that because we work Nick and I work in this industry so that won't happen so it's just eating and I like a good Italian deli sandwich a chicken cutlet with p uh sharp provolone maybe a little broccoli Rob or roasted red peppers something like that but those things on a nice Italian bread like semolina if you can get it is really freaking good it's Fat Sandwich Nick would never eat it it's got so many carbs involved in it but goddamn is it good so that's my go-to there all right Mike's PL Mike's Spain asks do you think we can still add a vet corner or safety since Mills was cut feel like we have the money on hand to make a move but maybe we're waiting for rosters to get trimmed I think we are waiting for rosters to get trimmed to see what's out there and we do have the money after the the Mills cut and the Andrew Thomas restructure so I think it's definitely possible I think the Giants are in the market to find somebody I'm just unsure if they have a bunch of like roster Fringe guys that they believe in to some degree who may be Tred to be slipped through the practice squad that they can then capitalize and use their waiver claim on them like they did with Jason pinck back in 2022 who they really liked from the Jets coming out of pit so I I think they're probably gonna be patient with it but yeah I think certainly something that can happen 2023 twitting says what record they need to finish with before they start operating NE means the Giants like Hoy Roseman and using a lot of void years cat pandemic is side it always goes up best to manipulate and compete once on the cusp no yeah I have no idea how many games they would have to win for in order to do that so I don't want to have an answer to this what about you I think it's you have to make a real playoff run you have to get to the divisional round no you have to get to the conference Championship and then I'm okay mortgaging your future cap to win now so or or or this is another one you have to show promise with a quarterback on a rookie contract those are the two things for me so it's one of those two areas hit that snooze asks if you were a general manager how would you rank the importance of each position when it comes to drafting players and allocating money if I was a general manager how would I rank the importance of each position when it comes to drafting look uh I'm I'm a big believer in the trenches I think having a star pass catcher a star skilled position player on offense is a crucial part to a successful offense but it all is going to come down to the quarterback rushing the passer protecting the passer and uh trying to get a dominant wide receiver and a secondary piece yeah QB o line dline wide receiver Corner those are the five Brian mberry Pi 2637 asks why do you think Daniel Jones has devolved from the guy who Uncorked it and made plays downfield as rookie year to a checkdown artist how can that be uncoached if it can I my opinion on this this is a big point of contention I think or not point of contention that's not the right phrase it's a big misunderstanding I should say or opposite understanding I'm trying to find the right term for this of why Daniel Jones is who he is and what can he be and what's still his ceiling and why has he been struggling um a lot of people feel like it was the coaching from Jason Garrett that has led to what he is now I believe otherwise I think he was that guy in 2019 because Pat shurmer simplified things for him he had half field system with half field reads high to low now why can't you just run that again right because NFL defensive coordinators got film on him just like with Davis Mills and countless other examples who had good rookie Seasons you put Concepts on tape you keep running the same Concepts as a quarterback and they work for your rookie year then they adjust to it they take them away and that's the next step what can you do when that is taken away so I think the reality is to me at least more so he's not this player because teams saw the film they took away the concepts that were working and he hasn't been able to figure out consistently other Concepts or how to read a field full a full field progression go through it fast and consistently um and I think that's the bigger reason than just oh they changed coordinators and this these guys just don't understand Jones no I think it's more so the fact that he had over a 5% turnover worthy play rate in 2019 and they just wanted to restrict it and that was a point of emphasis from Garrett but it's not just Garrett but I do think that certainly didn't help Daniel Jones it's a lot of different things but he turned the football over a lot in 2019 his year and I think they you needed to mitigate that and you know what they did a decent job in doing that right and bringing that five and a half or whatever it was number down but guess what in doing so your offense became stale predictable and everything was basically within five yards of the line of scrimmage so you need to find the balance there uh now I think it's more Daniel Jones's operating on offense with Brian dable and he's a little bit hesitant to actually pull the trigger because it's a little bit slow to see when those receivers are coming open when he has an option right in front of him who could pick up four five six yards a yak and uh is that some some of that because of Jason gar maybe sure but I think it's also Daniel Jones being a little bit of a slower processor to see things actually unfold when they are down the football field if that makes sense I love a great deal as much as the next guy but I'm not going to enter a parallel universe or go through some elaborate Labyrinth just to save a few bucks obviously worked against him but just knowing Joe judge and Jason Garrett they were very very boring and conservative right I think they were hired to basically mitigate the risk of his turnover worthy play rate that he was dude he fumbled the football like all the time yeah they did a good job of that you're right it got down really low his turnover R did but like I would say it definitely also affected I think his propensity to throw the ball deep but I also think he has slow eyes too so there's like kind of a lot that goes into into this question yeah it's a loaded question it's an interesting one um the next question comes from King Fleek he says the Giants are likely to be underdogs in every game weeks 2 to eight I'm not so sure they have the redin or the commanders on that but they probably I mean as of now he might be right like as far as just looking at the Vegas look ah headlines they might actually be um he says if he's still healthy at what point should or would the Giants consider benching Jones to avoid guaranteeing his contract for 2025 with the injury guarantee is this something you evaluated the bye in week 11 I think you evaluate I mean I don't know how the Giants are gonna evaluate this because I could see the Giants first off the Giants with with dble and Shane man like I I'm imagining Shane if the Giants suck like it's going to behoove them to to bench Daniel Jones be oh we just want to try out Dre lock you know do the whole like oh we really want to see what we have in this guy kind of thing but I also could see if they're like competitive through December I don't think you're benching Daniel Jones if Daniel Jones is healthy so I don't I think you would have to really suck and like everything fall off and you're like one in or two and seven or something like that that's when you start entertaining that yeah I think that's that's probably a good barometer let's say five games under 500 is probably where realistically it could happen and by week 11 in the bye it's no I hope it doesn't happen but it's obviously possible they could be under you know five under they were what last year going into the bye I don't remember but it wasn't it was a pretty bad record I'm pretty sure I think they were two wins right going into the bye and then they won against the Patriots and the and the commanders was it that or it might have been two or that that might have been before the buy I can't remember but we beat Arizona in week two and they had two win they were like they were like second overall pick like two and seven or two and eight at one they beat Washington yeah yeah early then lost everything else um including that Raiders game so yeah I don't know if the Raiders was before or after but I can't remember but probably similar to what happened last year would have to happen John Rodriguez 20 asks Dan I just started the Americans couldn't they have sent Gregory to Cuba better food black panthers sought Refuge there easier language to learn better weather it was either Moscow or Compton which wasn't really a choice I know it was a plot device just didn't make sense well you're right based on the timing of when this was you know takes place they they it made more sense they right to just send him to Cuba um yeah I don't I think you're just right it was just a plot you know they they they cut some corners on this plot to ice says a follow-up question would be what's your favorite season I just made the season two but many folks say there isn't a bad season from start to finish I would agree with what many folks say I'm going to go with the last season though and the reason I say that is the finale of that Series in my opinion is the best finale of any television series in the history of television to each series it's not the best show ever but it's the best finale and I'm not going to spoil it because Nick hates spoilers but I think there's a cap on how long something can be a spoiler that's something we disagree on Nick just wants open-ended like you can't even talk about Star Wars EP you know episode one two three at this point according to ni can't say anything it's just that open-ended but um so I won't say anything but I'm gonna I'll say this though uh I should be watching the Americans I know the brother of that main actress who's young oh really Holly Taylor yeah I served his brother was in the military with holy [ __ ] awesome yeah he's a jersey guy too well he's Irish but he moved to Jersey Wow when he was young of Paige is that who you're talking about the the brother of Paige um the brother of Holly Taylor the actress I have no idea what her name is I don't watch that show was she from Scotch Plains um I don't know I don't believe yeah like he was from like I think um Bergen County or that area so it wouldn't be Scotch que okay um thoughts on The Dan this is from Rider thoughts on The Dan Dugen report that Nick retweeted about Daniel Jones taking more reps on 1111s this year and the overall report of Brian dable running a harder practice all around more PS longer practices preseason reps upcoming uh this was before the last preseason game seems like he is turning up the intensity a bit your thoughts yeah absolutely it was uh see I wasn't at training camp last year I was in Arizona but from everything I've gathered from the beat Ed Dan Dugen a lot of people I respect this is a much more tense training camp and if you remember we covered it from a distance last year was a lot of kid gloves just trying to get healthy I think I've mentioned on a couple podcasts be healthy by week one well they got to week one and they got punched in the mouth they didn't seem ready for it so it does seem like to me that this there was a point of emphasis based on what I saw and also Brian DA's rhetoric that um that they wanted to be intense and be really ready and primed for week one and I think that's because last year they they really weren't one thing I would add Nick is why the hell is this not the case every year I don't really understand why you would ever have not a maximum intensity training camp personally but it is what it is I guess um and that's just human trying to prevent them injuries man like like Waller players like that I mean they only played in what one it was one series first team offense against Carolina right they went right down the field and they scored a touchdown and we were all like this is awesome well you know season and no one's scheming the defensive coordinator just running vanilla [ __ ] the entire time prri asks what are the what's the actual possibility of the Giants Landing a legit starting Corner opposite Banks prior to week one slim I'm gonna say none no no shot there's anyone available that could do this um well sorry they could pay up for a Dory Jackson exact something like that yeah yeah very very slim but I don't think they'll do it but they could you're right so it's it's at least a 10 percent I I take that back I forgot that they there are still legit Corners sitting on the market they're just unlikely in the Giants price range okay Cliffside f asks did you guys see every snap video or this the every snap video from The Joint practice against the Jets it's on YouTube seems like the secondary is having a really hard time Distributing routes in matchup zones I did not see it but I can tell you from what I've seen through training camp that that's very correct there are a lot of blown coverages there have been a lot of blown coverages it's to be expected in a system like this that is so reliant on eyes with a bunch of young players in your secondary and I wouldn't be shocked if that's something that's going to be exploitable about this team if the pass rush doesn't get home early in this season yep I think you're right I did watch every snap on that YouTube video it's thank you to the Jets guy who put that on Jets talk 247 I think apologize for not crediting somebody who did distribute the content I want to be I'm always good about that I want to continue to be good about that um so I think it's Jets talk 247 but yeah I saw multiple breakdowns we've seen him throughout and Nick seen him throughout Camp it's it's a new system that's going to rely on communication this is just kind of how it is we have terb no asks if this season goes do dble and Shane survive just one neither I actually think both survive so I think the Giants in the front office John Maris said to them you're good to go this season like just don't embarrass me and don't joejudge me with your stupid rant and running the ball and victory formation on Third and long and we're good to go because I think behind the scenes is just my speculation they all understand where they're at with the quarterback position and they all understand the limitations of this quarterback that's my interpretation I hope you don't view that as me hating it's just my pick on it I'm allowed to have that interpretation for God's sake given what he's put on tape so I think they're willing to be like look we didn't really have a chance to upgrade quarterback this year and next year we might have that opportunity we're going to give you one more chance and I hope so Nick because Shane you can argue against if you want to and I'm fine with that but I don't I know for a fact dude if we fire Brian dable we're gonna be so hard pressed to find anyone better to scheme offense and to help a quarterback I am positive of it a team had to hire Dan Quinn this and I'm not trying to knock Dan Quinn he's fine he's a good coordinator I don't want to fire Brian da and hire a Dan Quinn type dude I just don't want that at all now look you can convince me of Ben Johnson uh not Ben Johnson uh yeah Ben Johnson yeah Ben Johnson I'm yeah forgot for a second the Lions dude and I'll be like all right I'm intrigued the guy is a mastermind but I'm good with just dable man I really am and I just hope he gets another chance I think you're right but I leave a little bit of um room for dable possibly getting canned if he loses the locker room and he lets his emotions which could in terms of the emotions he could lose his emotions he's very emotional guy I I don't think that will happen I think you're right they have a grace period um to to to lose a little bit not ideal but um man the New York media is Relentless dude and this is a long season so there is that too you're 100% right okay PL 73 asks when Evan Neil returns to practice how do you think it should be handled alumino was presumably signed as our starting guard who kick outside to tackle if necessary do you think he should move back to guard so o' Neil can get the Reps at right tackle or is it just too late at this point yeah we've touched on this it's too late at this point you roll with alumor you let illuminor lose that job and then you just evaluate Evan Neil Snap by snap game by game or practice by practice at this point evanal hasn't displayed anything to prove that he should be given the right tackle job over somebody who actually has some really competent tape with this offensive line coach who is anchoring down the right tackle position at the moment you nailed it okay Kelly who knows ball says guys like Brett Coleman and a few others felt that Malik neighbors wasn't really a great ex outside receiver that would limit him to being a really great wide receiver to or an elite slot guy seeing how neighbors has done great with contested catches on the outside like in the preseason do you agree with Brett's evaluation not really no um I can understand why Brett said that pre-draft because you didn't see a lot of malague neighbors with these exotic release packages outside of the numbers in limited space you saw him as the number two and the number three and 3 by one set so I get where Brett Coleman is coming from there uh but I've seen some release packages that have intrigued me I think his just overall explosiveness off the line of scrimmage is something that is working into his favor um is he an ideal X maybe not at this point but I think he can develop into that and I don't think the Giants are going to have an issue with employing his skill set on this offense whether that be at the X which we have seen in preseason so far or at the slot or the two or the Z or whatever the hell you want to name it yeah I said it during the pre-draft evaluation my evaluation of neighbors was he's going to win with that Speed release no matter what and I think so far it's proven pretty correct and it's not just the Speed release he's got some tricks and tricks to the trade but it is a lot of that explosiveness and that quickness off the line of scrimmage um now that doesn't mean it's going to be perfect I think some Corners will be able to press him and knock him off his you know off his off his route but we'll see and I don't think that will pre uh preclude him from becoming a great X outside receiver I think he's on that path I agree I agree deas I don't know what the hell it says deas a bunch of EAS says please correct me slide in my DMs and let me know how dumb I am not Giants related but what are your overall thoughts on the doson trade so what he's referencing is Jan datson former first round pick by the Washington commanders was just traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for like a three and a five and then they received a three and a seven back so they basically just jumped a five to a seven in this trade and moved up in the third round which is insane at this point because Johan dodson's a stud I don't care that yeah SAR to the DeAndre Swift trade that they made a year or two ago and he helped them a lot just what how he does man I just don't understand this at all from Washington standpoint I don't know how they couldn't have gotten something similar from one of the 30 other or 28 other teams who aren't in the in the in their own division but some will say that they couldn't I guess man I mean he's under team control for another what year or two on a rookie deal like this is a valuable asset to have even if you think he's a total bus and the reality is he's not he just was a Mal contend supposedly at Washington Camp he didn't like his role he was rotating out as the outside receiver he felt like he deserved 100% of the snaps the outside receiver Cliff King's very disagreed and they traded him but again why to Hoy why is it always hoe Rosen why are you picking up the phone when this guy makes a call that I don't understand why is Howe Roseman collecting former Penn State nit Lions who played in the NFC East I don't know maybe sees him on tape and he knows they have unta talent he's getting them for nothing uh not Barkley but he's getting Dotson for nothing okay Market Mike says any chance the Giants end up with a top five pick and both D and Shane get to stay we already answered that um let's get to the next one Giants have the the Giants used their first- round pick on a position uh other than QB for whatever reason what position group would you want it to be okay there you go okay so first round pick on a position not quarterback uh let's go with Corner yeah I want another corner but I can be talked into defensive line I can be talked into probably anything at this point but other than running back but yeah and uh yeah I'm going to go corner corner for me as well uh he also want or Al alaka Flaka asks what happens if both Daniel Jones and Drew lock don't look good and both get to play this year do you think that Shane has any planed to make a trade for a quarterback I don't um but it's also not week six right now and we haven't seen both of those guys suck and Tommy deito go on another team's active roster because the Giants tried to slip them through w so like if that happens later I wouldn't be shocked if a team wanted to get rid of a backup quarterback and they took the risk on somebody that they liked do I think that's gonna happen no but could it maybe but I don't because Daniel Jones has so much freaking money tied up into him but it also depends but where it gets interesting is if the Giants somehow are competitive if they're winning games Daniel Jones they benched him because he was terrible somehow they still won some games and they they have that injury guarantee that factors into this Drew lock ends up getting hurt or he ends up sucking that's when it's like what did the Giants do they probably reach out to the team that claimed Tommy DeVito and say right get your ass back here Tommy I don't know a lot of ifs there that I don't see any really coming happening I know you're not saying you do either Nick um but to answer your question WKA flock a flame uh no I don't think there's any quarterback I mean look the dobs trade last year was something you keep in mind but dobs was benched after the trade like he didn't really work out they went to Mullins and in the past God this was another Eagles trade Eagles somehow pawned off Sam Bradford for a first round pick like right that was crazy disgusting trade at the time uh just total trade you know what um so just I don't want the Giants to be the next team that gets trade you know whated uh moonberry Pi asks can you I you might have C you have covered it already but can you explain the difference between wink system and chain bones I'll let you handle this Nick in a and let's keep it uh to a like a like a spark notes version yeah Spark Notes version wink marale loves to Blitz blitzed 45.4% of the snaps last the only coordinator who blitzed more was Brian Flores with the Vikings whereas Shane Bowen blitzed I think 22% of the snaps according to pro football reference and you also get a lot more man coverage cover one middle of the field closed in wink marale system whereas in Shane Bowens it's much more split safeties you're gonna have cover four quarters a lot of uh pattern match type of principles and then in terms of the defensive front base Personnel you can say they're both three four Bowen's going to roll out there with three and then have four Bowen will also use some 4-3 fronts and Bowen also likes to use a lot of wide rushing angles on Third and five third and six situations which wasn't really what wink marale did yeah that's exactly right okay next one is Matt weidhorn Max weidhorn who says one of the Browns quarterbacks is going to get cut uh it'll be DTR Huntley can you see the Giants going after one I'm just going to quickly say no no interest no value no point they don't know the system I have zero interest in adding one of these guys to the active roster I agree Mikey Glover asked if Andrew Thomas went down would you rather see a lineup with Evan Neil at left tackle where he played his last season of college football or a lineup where Jermaine lumor shifts the left tackle and Neil goes back to right tackle thanks guys I'd rather see Neil at left tackle I agree you yeah yep okay Jesse jei chimino says I'm looking forward to our week one matchup what is the Vikings defense all about and how can we attack them how can our defense take advantage of a Sam darnold Le offense good question yeah so the Minnesota Vikings again they blitzed 51.5% of the time you're going to see so many blitzes go after Daniel Jones a lot of guys crowding the line of scrimmage a lot of press coverage so there's a lot of opportunity for screens there's a lot of opportunity to win your one-on-one match ups Mal League neighbors could have a huge game if he can uh beat Stefan Gilmore who I think is their number one quarterback now I don't know Byron Murphy might be put on him but uh either way there's opportunity to beat a very aggressive defense but there's also opportunity for a catastrophe because that aggression could get home and Sack Daniel Jones all that kind of stuff so you have to watch out for Brian Flores but you can beat him in certain uh in certain areas and then with um with Sam Donn look you you pressure him you fool them you make him see ghosts that's what you do to Sam Don so you throw a lot of things out him that are creative exotic something he can't really see pre- snap you hit him you hit Sam darnold a lot that's how you get to Sam darnold you shut down that rushing Attack Force the ball in his hand contain him as well because he is a freaking athlete and he will run around so you need to have a contain on him not all the time but enough to not allow him to keep picking up uh third down conversions but yeah you you hit him so I would say a little bit of an aggressive defensive plan against him make you make him beat you with his mind and his arm and some things to add that I would add rubber outs to take advantage of man coverage from Brian Flores and tight end screens which we talked about earlier to take advantage of those blitzes Cliffside FF says will you be able to get another offensive lineman expert on the show to talk about the difference we'll see this year with Coach Karm technique scheme I remember you guys did something similar earlier this year with Cody Alexander and it was really good yeah yeah I mean we could talk and see um I I don't have anybody in mind right now especially with the season that's more offseason type of content but maybe eventually we will depending on if there's anything that we like that we've seen specifically from Carmen bro that we want broken down from a from an expert at that position group okay j auna j j Juna I don't know if that's right says do you foresee the Giants adding a cornerback um if they roll with who they have in the backfield how do you see teams attacking the defense we already asked stuff like this I do think the Giants are going to add a quarterback and with attacking the defense look there are a bunch of different ways if they can stop the Giants pass rush where you can just get burnt I think you're going to have a lot of different types of bunches and and stacks with releases that are attempting to cause miscommunications on the back end are going to see a lot of things of that nature from the offense trying to take advantage of responsibilities post Snap from those secondary pieces that will hopefully lead to blown coverages for the defense hopeful of course in the offensive perspective not Nars David Goodman uh longtime listening to the show says the Giants in the 80s drafted William Roberts to play left tackle where he failed they moved him to guard and he became a pro bowl player there do you think Evan Neil can follow this path like I think he can and why do you think they haven't changed his position yet I think they're just kind of working him back into the lineup and I do think it's possible that that can happen yes because we've seen it at a power five school so I think it's possible but I don't necessarily think it would happen I hope I'm just hoping he can be a adequate guard at this point and then I'll greedy once that happens Chris no longer in St P asked do you see Evan um sorry jmss as a no-brainer starter for week one or could they consider another option uh no I think he's a no-brainer starter week one if he's healthy okay S Jones I'm with you on that by the way I think he's a no-brainer from a communication standpoint they they want him out there sjones 71 says Force rank your ideal QB traits you can only rank the following arm Talent pre-post snap processing Mobility accuracy and durability you only get one that can be elite one would have to be great one would be average one would have to be below average and one would have to be poor this is a great question this is and arm talent and accuracy do kind of go together so I'm gonna go arm Talent as Elite prepost great Mobility average oh God that that man the durability thing is like ah I don't want the durability to be below average but yeah you know man like and then accuracy poor because arm Talent kind of ends up swallowing that hole what about you Dan this is a great question I really like how it's framed I'll say my ideal thing would be the elite would be the pre- impost snap processing I think that's the number one thing the great would be this is tough armed Talent it can't be at no no no I'll go great I can't have below average dur durability though I'll go great durability I'll go great durability um you just need it it's like so underrated availability so it has to be at least great average so last for me is gonna poor is going to be d uh I'm sorry Mobility so I think you can win with great pre imp poost it's the only one you could win with being poor I think out of all these um for average and below average my two I have left I have to either do arm Talent OR accuracy I'll do I can't do below average arm Talent though have to do average arm Talent below average accuracy feels so bad or no Mobility I didn't I'll oh no no I did Mobility is the last [ __ ] this is a tough question um yeah I'll do what I said there I'll do arm Talent average below average accuracy I guess this doesn't feel great Brian poris asks are you all comfortable that we won't have opposing defenses laughing at our play action attempts again this year it seems we need better run blocking and consistent running back production to prevent a repeat of this yeah you need better run blocking and run scheme and I think they can get that this year so I'm I I also don't at all agree with you about defenses laughing at our play action attempts that last year I don't think that to me it just I'm sorry it just I don't think I I don't I I don't even know really how to respond to that I think play action is B that the linebackers read their keys in play action that's what every coach tells has told us uh so yeah I I don't know Nick do you have any thoughts on this no I think I think you're right but I think Brian's just you know making a little bit of a joke about how our play action wasn't uh wasn't effective last year which he's correct on but the linebackers always going to read their keys just how aggressive are they going to read their keys we've seen with saquan sometimes when saquan ripped off like five eight yard rush and then they go to the play AC you see a linebacker ah screaming in there and then Daniel Jones like keeps it on a roll out and picks up a bunch of yards so it really depends on how discipline those um those defensive structures and those defensive coordinat coordinators teach their guys but I think uh I think they can run the ball and I think the play action passing attack hopefully will be um a little bit more effective than last season because last season it was yeah the offensive line sucked ass yeah I mean look Brian answer your question uh I think it really just comes down to the blocking and the scheming that's my prediction on how you get people to respect your play action okay the next one Nick Townshed says what are your F what's your favorite barbecue meat and size from a barbecue restaurant my favorite meat would be brisket sides if I'm going to a restaurant I like potato salad I like um Mac a cheese is good and then um I don't really know I kind of like grits but I don't think that's a uh a side out of barbecue place that's much more of a southern thing so I don't I don't know if that would count but it's a unique thing that I picked up when I was living in the South I was like oh [ __ ] these grits are pretty damn good you know you throw some cheese in there you're like surpris you eat grits Nick knowing your health hey man you know you got SPL sometimes yeah that is a splur for your grits cannot I don't know what I don't even know what's in grits I like them I just assume it can't be good for you just because of based on how they taste um but I do like grits I think that's more of a like Southern Cajun type of thing so I think no I don't know if it's Cajun it's Southern but maybe just Southern no not Cajun that was a bad word varum meat for me is actually brisket burnt ends the burnt ends in brisket I think are the best okay besides I'm going to go with German potato salad not the Mayo based the vinegar the vinegar based one which I think you'd be on board with Nick I'm going to go with good baked beans especially the baked beans that have that Smoky flavor and the sauce and the brisket burnt EDS in the Bak how did I forget that the Bak beans oh the Bak beans are freaking the best yes yeah so baked beans potato salad and uh I guess mac and cheese I'm not really huge on mac and cheese but I'm not huge on mac and cheese as a someone who really doesn't do that well with dairy but does good enough but not well enough but not where I want to be would you say you're Elite with Dairy good above average average below average or poor with dairy average and below average I would say not quite below average but not great I can still do it it's just it leads to some issues in the morning not issues just not not pleasantries and we've already gone with too much information there but my last side is going to be cornbread a good cornbread from a barket place all right last question wrapping up here Fundy give me your top three movies of all time oh geez top three movies that's so difficult hard yeah I think like um is going to go with the Godfather departed might be up there um like a lot of like war movies as well from when I was a kid Gettysburg was a big one I watched a lot big Civil War guy as a seven-year-old because my dad is um really into was really into that so uh yeah but I I could probably go on forever and I know we're press on time but uh what are yours what comes to your mind it's a great question and I think there's different ways to answer it um as far as like what my favorite movie on a first watch would be mov by the way oh you loved I know or how about Team America that's amazing Team America is such a team America is such a good movie dude I like it even more than the South car movie have you seen uh their uh the one I I think I asked you this already once you've obviously seen baseball which is amazing have you seen uh the the the porn movie they did no I don't think I have you haven't seen that first movie and it Orgasmo that's what it's called Orgasmo it is so freaking funny you should watch Orgasmo when you get a chance if you get if you get a little edible in the in the game and you know especially knowing how much you like their humor Trey Parker Matt Stone but for me I'm gonna go with this there's different movies I can say are the best are my favorite I'm just gonna go with the ones I've seen the most that's what I think is the fairest evaluation of what a top movie would be so I'm gonna group two together so I can get an extra one I'm gonna say Happy Gilmore Billy Madison one two or one one just counting that as one for some reason I'm making my own rules rounders that's another one for me I've seen seen both of those movies over 50 times each um or all three of those movies over 50 Good Fellas Good Fellas would probably be the next one but I'm trying to think if I've seen a movie more than the good Fells you know what movie I've seen a million times even though it's probably not considered anywhere near this ranking uh Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless mine I love that movie Jim car yeah it's a it's it's a really interesting movie it's a the concept of it is you can go to a doctor and he can erase a part of your memory so these two find each other and they're dating and then they both want to get their memory erase but then they run into it's just this whole it's a very interesting concept and one guy is trying to go back through his memory to try to find her it's Jim Carrey it's look at Dan softhearted Dan over here well it's not that it's like a it's a deep movie it's oh yeah I guess soft deep Harden I don't know no dude I love hey I love the Deep movies man it makes you think it makes you think another fun one is Vanilla Sky have you seen that one no I haven't okay that's a crazy one with Tom Cruz okay and I could I could actually do like podcasts on movies so like I'm not like a huge movie guy but the movies that I watch I watch in like I break down some I love um I love breaking down movies and and skits and comedy specials and things like that all right we'll wrap there thank you so much for tuning in please hit like like like subscribe like subscribe we'll talk to you soon have a great rest of your week
