hey how's it going out there folks welcome back here to the weekend it is 8 about 88:13 a.m. California time here Saturday morning August 31st 2024 September tomorrow goodness uh latest activity here on this Saturday morning shows a uh we got a 4.0 down here in the South America area right along the pr chili trench one of the latest Quakes here on the map a little bit of newer activity out here across Northern Atlantic as well and Way north of Greenland a couple four Stern up out here in fact 4.4 is a magic number between those two Quakes goodness um far as anything major going on here across the last 24 hours in terms of larger scale potential well it's going to be this five-pointer down along the chili area a couple hours ago uh in the region that we're seeing that four pointer right now on the globe so it looks like a little bit of uptick here in this general area across the uh just north of the Santiago Chile area getting a little bit of swarming up here uh of course this area capable of producing some big time Quakes out there goodness uh far as the Middle America trench here where we are watching some elevated activity last night looks like things have worked its way down across the South America region here today for uh some uptick this area of the middle americ trench was shown some fours and a whole bunch of Threes here yesterday including that six-pointer that popped off a couple days ago uh but there's a lot of red rings here indicating some older movement in that cluster uh Eastern portion of the country out here pretty quiet not a whole lot going on uh Southern California nothing lighting up here in the last hour a look at the 2.5 map and above does show uh a little bit of uptick here from let's see what we got looks like this morning as well 2.8 2.6 uh so far today and a couple other twos out there from yesterday so 2.8 being the latest Quake down here off the San hinto fault Zone just west of the sultan sea uh where we're seeing a little little bit of Cl well there actually was an earthquake hidden in there in the last hour a little 1.1 but uh aside from that just general earthquake activity out here across Southern uh Southern California today Nevada about the same nothing major going on across the Northern end of California there's a quake at the uh Cascadia abduction Zone from yesterday was a 3.0 a little bit of movement further offshore this morning with a 2.6 seems like uh we get these periodic upticks here at the same time uh where we've seen some uh two two activity this morning down in Southern California roughly about the same time we've seen some adjustment up here across the Northern end but offshore around the Gorda scotman area Pacific Northwest fairly quiet aside from some some uh very small microquakes up there across the area for now uh Puerto Rico trench over here was getting uh fairly active yesterday looks like the majority of these from yesterday although a couple more threes in the cluster out here today scattered out and about here across the Puerto Rico region uh see if we got anything major going on far as oh I did not mean to close that New Zealand goes threes bunch of Threes down here nothing major overnight seems like threes are a magic number clustering of Threes deep and some shallow adjustment going on here across the plate boundary Tonga area the Fiji region the Vanuatu all pretty quiet here for now but eventually that will fill in uh newer activity it looks like just off the coast here of Japan with a 4.6 that area let me bring that back up here this area is the region that seen that uh seven pointer uh just a uh a weeker a week or so back actually it's been longer than that that was back in the eth of uh August goodness August just flew by I've been trying to stay outside of the heat so I've been just doing a lot of stuff inside here and uh man days go by pretty quickly when you're doing that that's where that 7.1 struck uh this is the area close to the region where they're watching that subduction zone here for a potential Mega Quake to put out a I think an 80% chance of seeing a mega Quake here uh in the near future along the subduction zone the Japanese folks are put out that little warning so a little bit of earthquake activity today in that region just here on the southern end uh 34 miles deep here into the subduction zone 4.6 some activity from yesterday there nothing new I don't think we see anything uh let's see yeah not a whole lot of newer activity there around the ccom chat Kat trench just that movement around that subduction zone here typical clustering going on through the Indonesia islands area the rest of the world out here uh just doing what it does right plate tectonics in motion out here daily it's a daily thing um you know we see hundreds if not thousands of earthquakes on any given day out here so this is just what the USGS is showing in terms of uh the states and US Territories but if we were to pull up the South America earthquake activity New Zealand all of their smaller Quakes Australia you know everywhere there's always micro Quakes uh stirring up out here little ones and smaller ones and twos and there would probably be a couple thousand earthquakes that we see every single day across various areas of the plate boundaries all right space weather activity uh goodness had some surprise Aurora events last night that was due to the bz component remaining tipped South not a whole lot of uh CMEs have been produced but uh uh it did kick up the auroras here that bz component has a lot to do with suppressing or allowing the solar Windstream to uh stir up the auroras and last night it was favorable for the auroras across the Northern Tier States out here as we've seen a G1 class storm kick up looks like that may continue off and on here through the day across the um opposite side of the North American Plate here on the dark side of the Earth where people are sleeping uh but aside from that yeah like I say there's there's not a whole lot of forecasted auroras but uh they can stir up out of the blue unexpectedly no major flares overnight couple low-grade M flares here on the map we do have uh a number of active regions out there um beta Gamma Delta structure from 3806 3806 here is going to be this Sunspot region that's right about here on the Southeastern quadrant of the Sun that area today still looks fairly complex a lot of uh intermixing here of different magnetic polarities in the overall picture here of the Sunspot keep an eye on that one that could uh produce some stronger flaring if it decides to continue to grow and amplify also another region over here along the extreme Eastern limb of the Sun Crest resting the uh area looks fairly large hard to tell on on the complexity but we'll get a better view of that here in the coming days so overall threat right now remains uh looks like a 10% chance for xflare M flare at 60 CF flare around 99% chance or so and again auror could be possible later tonight with uh pending the bz component there tips south or remains South because it's uh seems like last couple nights there it's been the pointing South and allowing some uh Aurora activity far as severe weather goes here today across the uh the country categorical here shows a slight risk over here across portions of the Northeast not a big deal for tornado activity it looks like going to be some wind and a little bit of Hell threats out there main main deal is going to be some wind or uh some yeah some wind little bit of wind wind's always nice right blow the dust and smog out of there depending on if you live in a populated area uh Pittsburgh PA right got a little bit of potential here of seing some damaging wind gust so hold on to your hats today if you're outside enjoying the weekend uh aside from that let's see what we got anything major going on nothing major um looks fairly quiet out here for now in terms in terms of the seismograph station all right I'm going to bounce out of here folks hope everyone has a good day uh Hawaii out here really not seeing anything new out here I've just been doing this update here once a day for Hawaii because there's not a whole lot of change going on we're at a level where I feel feel like we've peaked here in terms of Maximum accumulation of magma for this upper east Rift Zone but it's just sitting there it's nothing's going on so uh we'll check back on this a little bit later on this evening in the uh nightly update and tell then folks have yourself a good day stay safe out there and uh you know it's a weekend have a little fun enjoy some time off work if you have the three-day weekend Labor Day on Monday goodness then uh might take a little trip somewhere right three-day weekends are always nice we'll catch you guys back out here a little bit later on this evening folks stay safe
