don't feel like he was the guy that was going to get us to play for a big 10 Championship or anything but if your guy goes down and you got to go with that dude or situationally you want to put somebody different in like I feel like he's perfect with it you know I almost think like and this is kind of crazy but I would like to see him in like a Tim TBO role where it's like harberg yeah you know like have him come in on the goal line maybe if you want to try some um some big boy packages down on the goal line and have him rushing in I I trust him in those situations I do yeah if you're go ahead go ahead or even if you just want to even if you just feel like mixing it up and running some especi especially in riy this first year yeah dog fight type games or say uh Illinois or some Iowa whatever where it's if you're playing a team like take Iowa for example if you're playing a team that's really locking you up on defense and you and you now before you go any further I taught you this all of this that's why I'm having a hard time getting it out cuz I'm trying to read the notes good boy um if you're getting into situations where A team's doing a really good job on defense against you and they're dominating time and possession when they have the ball so you need to go more of a power run heavy Messier game Hiner is going to be more your guy for that where your right like you know sometimes you get a guy like that and all they can do is kind of get downhill but he can run all the runs he can run inside he can run outside um it's uh he was a great addition for us he's a young player you know he only he only played in five games last year uh at Oregon so he burned his red shirt year but he's got did you find out you got get I just need a new one it's just an old computer it was top of the line when I got it back 6s back in 1964 yeah so we we talked about offense maybe let's switch sides and talk about defense the two things is getting off the third maybe the lastage maybe not as as well yeah no the offense protected the ball in the last scrimmage and to mece out bounce out there you go about you know forcing fumbles by by playing with dominant contact about affecting the quarterback so that know it's going to be their side ah don't stumble good chase down tackle your boy eyes so so so I think defensively we did a lot of great things last year to me it's about as you said improving our third down percentage you know we were we were good but we weren't great we've got to get down we want to be one of the top 10 teams in the country on third down get the ball back to the offense you know you might stop them eventually but you give up two three you know first downs all sudden your offense is starting with the ball inside their own 10 changing the field position will change everything for us I think a lot of college football fans don't necessarily understand the Dynamics of changing the field position I think once you get into the NFL changing the field position with a punt or a mean 10 yard plays it could be Game Changer no doubt big where you're dealing with going to throw it's coming back here's again Far Side oh my oh my you know who I haven't seen is Malachi is he healthy right now yeah you made that block championship game I was talking the officials down there our highlights are all now they're all penalties if you're a defensive player real fans that actually follow the team know that yeah plus you know we you know we're out here we're competing but we don't want to we don't want to take each why to me teams like Iowa are so successful in this league like they're just going to methodically just change we can't beat ourselves problem win in this league you can win that way in other leagues on us on us as a coaching staff to make sure that we do help them you know move up we do help them have more success next year and so um I'm grateful and and and those guys coming back Really really to me has established the culture where the guys that come into the locker room they they know what to expected because of guys like GI who's one of the guys coming back here is Isaac gford highlights from last year I think coach white called him you know simply one of the best in the country what he does gford just reminded me of a baby rhy football family you brother L's playing in the National Football League and you know to me he he's one of the guys as he came on last year that's why our defense came how many Nebraska players get drafted today you know he's he's one of the guys on the antsy or jittery at times but he had some nice passes and I feel like all of them kind of locked on the receivers a little bit I feel like that's some of that's the design like some of those quick passes obviously that's what you're doing but I don't know man I I feel good about the quarterback situation going in I don't feel like over the top arrogant about it or anything like oh it's we needed a quarterback and we got you know what I mean I'm not like that drastic with it but I don't feel like super uneasy going into the season of [ __ ] what are we going to do for quarterback or we still don't have a quarterback or whatever so that seems solved bro it seems 100% solved to the tune of even even harberg looked pretty decent today I mean kin's youry though how do you answer for kin's day because I don't think kayin had a great day no I mean maybe not great but I mean he was all right I expected more the way you were hyping his ass up I was hyping his ass up to me personally you've hyped him up haven't you I mean yeah you have what what what didn't you like about him today he just was so you you and I's conversations about kayin I don't want to let the cat out of bag but as of like a couple of weeks ago you told me that you think Daniel Kalin will end up being better than Dylan riola I said that well like I think you said that it's your underlying fear or like you have this premonition or you just have a some sort of gut feeling that kin might be better mhm and that was not the case today no for sure it wasn't even close no I feel like or from what we've seen since both of them committed even before Dylan flip excuse me like the Elite 11 a lot of the things they were doing the accuracy stuff the a lot of the different things I felt like they were very similar or very I didn't feel like one stood out drastically over the other or one was drastically behind the other and it again like I said when we're talking about the you know take what way way you can and can't take away from a spring game is without seeing them actually playing in a in a legit Big 10 game everybody's guessing and making assumptions based off of what bits you are seeing and what you're hearing from coaches and things like that and it's I felt like he was almost rushed and a little like I won't say like nervous but pressing a little bit especially his first drive or two but I didn't feel like his passes were bad I didn't feel like he was sailing balls or chucking them at people's feet or they were real wobbly or bad I didn't feel like he was making bad reads he did did try to force a pass or too but all of them did all three of them did at times so it's like um my concern with with the two coming in is that I feel like kayin would be more likely to stay regardless like he embraced the idea of competing with a super highly touted guy that's the same year as him it's not like they're offset of year so if he red shirts now he's out and he's got two years where he doesn't like I feel like he really embraced the yeah let's compete and see what happens and again it's assumption I'm not saying this is for certain the case I felt like with Dylan bouncing from Ohio State to Georgia the bounc around high school things like that it was more what fits me best as opposed to this is where I want to go and I'm good enough I'm going to make it my setup my situation so I was worried like okay if he leaves for whatever reason the team underperforms in general like you were saying earlier he's asked to The Season's about to start and they want to go with Harbor because he has the experience and there's not that much separation or maybe the reads or the The Playbook isn't fully developed for riola or whatever the longterm couple years down the road kayin grinds it out stays and talent wise he's not that far behind him you know what I'm saying yeah like that's kind of more what I was looking at today there's no question who the better looking quarterback was I don't think but again it's it's a practice and we'll see I I just feel like I haven't seen this type of quarter I mean he am I am I too high on Rola I thought he looked brilliant bro he looks good but like shut up you you get excited shut up stop trying to ruin a good thing individual things like you do it with the Suns they look like [ __ ] for a week and a half and then one guy has one good game and it's like oh [ __ ] and then they'll look great this was different this was different bro somebody will have a bad game and it's like he needs to be traded look for this dude we got to get this guy in and do this like relax man look at how many practices there are this was one of them don't bring the into it it's a top any of these guys look like the majority of the time in every other practice somebody who's practice like [ __ ] all spring could have looked really good today and somebody who's looked good all Seas season practicing could have looked bad today and but we're just seeing this so I mean that's what I'm saying IA if his throw setup yeah he looked better if his throws it's over Kaylee it's it was a 2521 uh White team so if his throws were like checkdowns screen passes bubble screens [ __ ] like that a lot of that tiny SL routs things like that if it was only that that's my point too I felt like harberg and kin had a lot more plays that were those and that can be telling you can't trust them comfortable you that's what I'm saying it could be telling that the coaches are like these are the plays that we feel comfortable calling for you guys the playbooks a little bit more open for Dylan Like that's that's fair like I would listen if somebody's making that argument but what up would you ask time if you're being evaluated from Outsiders like us who aren't seeing practices and just hearing tidbits from press conferences and whatnot all you can do is try to execute the plays of call for you I didn't feel like they struggled that much with it there was some drop balls There Was You Know R had that one pick because the Dude let it slap off both of his hands so I mean right it's just too it's too little to go off of in my opinion like but yes going off of what we have to go off of Dylan looks like the better the clear-cut better quarterback and the clearcut starter as a true freshman of this of this one sample we have the other thing that you weren't going to see is a lot of quarterback runs so if you get into situations against certain teams where you really need your quarterback to be able to run whether it's the old line can't hold up or you're in a time of possession battle with the the team I don't know we didn't get to see what Rola could do on designed quarterback runs maybe they don't have any intentions on designing running plays for him so then you're going to see a lot more harberg or you have to get more harberg because he's more durable he's a better Runner you know if if we didn't see hardly any option if they're going to run much option who's better at I don't think I saw one option played you that's what I'm saying like there's a lot of and Rule saying you know leading up about a week or two ago he's like you know this is going to be a lot more of a vanilla type of practice or scrimmage or whatever than like last year they were doing different things and trying to feel out the different quarterbacks and the Playbook was a little bit more open they were playing with things and trying to still see who was going to do what they they went into this year obviously having a lot better idea of who works well in what situations and what type of game plan you call depending on or packages you know I mean and what fits guys better so I don't know like I said man it's just he looked good for sure I'm not at all trying to take away from that but I'm saying getting crazy excited and acting like he's clearly quarterback he is clearly he is so you're you're taking from this that we just watched that we're going to do zero quarterback runs zero options everything's going to be a pro style pass with some under underneath dump outs to tight ends and running backs and if that's the case then I agree with you he is the better quarterback but that's a drastically different offensive Playbook than last year yeah I mean I find it hard to believe that they completely scrapped in the Big 10 where so many games are time of possessions and grinding out this is marus shatter field we're talking completely burning all the option and quarterback run plays from the Playbook we still have Marcus shatter field right yeah isn't that tight end Coach how good do the tight ends look before everybody want to [ __ ] on a good point but don't don't change the subject godamn it okay you know what chatterfield likes to do throw throw throw hey coach we could really use a r throw so it's gonna be Dylan bro it's gonna be Dylan let me ask you this if if they were allowed to hit and sack the quarterback do you think Rola still looks the same you think his numbers and his stats everything still look the same and do you think harburg's look the same no that's silly do you think harberg makes them pay for some of those blitzes and some of those gaps that are there I think har I think harberg throws at least one more interception you think and do you think riola has either more interceptions or is forced to run and you realize maybe he can't run or he starts getting hit and then all of a sudden his Poise in the pocket changes because he just got hit four consecutive plays in a row maybe one or two was a sack maybe they weren't but he's still getting beat on you think he's still is calm and his Poise in the pocket going through reads and his passes are as crispy and everything as they were throughout the game I think he would have been better just kidding no I I think I'm not saying one way or the other you would or wouldn't I'm saying there's a lot of things that we didn't get to see and to make this jump to three months from now or two months from now whatever we got to the start of the Season let alone once you start seeing how they look in actual games to be like this guy's clearly better than this guy this guy clearly needs to be the starter this guy's clearly going to carry us to the come on man I didn't say he was going to carry us to anything did you did you were saying consecutive Heisman national championships no that's a given what I'm saying [Music] is the Huskers will be better this year with him the um I think he could have saved us two or three L's that were strictly on Sims okay if you had somebody like that we would have been better off with Casey last season so how are we not going to be better off with Rola we're one one game away from a bowl game I'm just saying we're going to game I'm saying we're going to make a bow game and we're going to be better off changing the conversation and he should be the starter I'm saying all those things talking about he's clearly better than the other two so now you're saying the team would be better with him than the other guys last year like I anyone else started harberg if we' have started harberg in the Colorado game we'd have [Music] won maybe very yeah it would have been different um because you can definitely argue that the defense got worn out because they kept getting thrown out there in short territory and bro they did a good job of not letting them score considering the terrible terrible field position they were stuck in all game whole second half yeah but even in the first half I feel like they got gassed because every time they turned around you know every time they tried to snap the ball Jeff Sims was busy tying his shoe and didn't even know he was in the game so the defense had to keep running back out and trying to save us which they did and they kept it yeah I'm just saying to me practices and I this isn't mine I heard this from somewhere you probably heard it it's like parenting like practices are like parenting when your kid turns out great okay you were supposed to when your kid turns out to be a piece of [ __ ] it's like well you're a bad parent you should have done better with them like nothing there was no Abominations in this practice like everything looked cleaner cleaner clean at best some guys looked really good I'm not saying clean but cleaner than last year to take away from this a lot and get excited or be super down or to make assumptions on who's starting or who's going to be this or what records are going to be like that's just crazy man like just be glad that it no nobody looked like dog [ __ ] none of the quarterbacks were throwing the ball well the last two obviously were sailing balls over receivers heads or throwing into clear interception situations or guys are running wrong routes or guy turn a quarterback would turn the hand off on the left side and the quarter running back's going right side you didn't see it that you said something about the offensive line not having a lot of penalties whether it's holdes or um false starts there wasn't fumbles you know by running backs or receivers after they had catches is like those are good things to take away that you expect that are supposed to happen that you [ __ ] about when they happen you don't notice when they don't happen like all that's good but trying to take that and run with all I'm running with quarterbacks are how bad they are how good in the other ones are silly come on like if you have somebody who's let's just take like a shooting guard in the NBA and they can't hit a shot they can't even catch the ball when it's past to them and then you get a guy in who in you know like we'll say in scrimmage POS situations or whatever then you get a guy that comes in and he's hitting fadeaways he's hitting pull-ups he's hitting shots with a hand in the face you can say okay well clearly this guy is further developed than that guy I mean the ranking could tell you that what do you think Jeff Sims was ranked overall in the country when he was coming out of high school not number one what do you think kin was not not number 10 even uh what do you think uh our boy harberg was nothing and it's like all I'm saying is we have a easy schedule this upcoming season did Jeff Sims look like Jeff Sims in the spring game last year or did he look like a much better quarterback he didn't look like he didn't look like this did your drastically change after the Colorado game between Minnesota and Colorado than it was after you watch them play in the spring yes okay that's all I'm saying however too much away from during the spring game I didn't see anything special from Sims other than completing a few passes here and there that he's supposed to complete but these deep balls these touchdown passes that first down where he uh sorry that two-point conversion where he dropped it in over the defender and off to the right right like dude it's different man you know you can see that it's different I know you know that dude like don't like I get it you know you're I'm comp thing I'm not comparing Jeff Sims you keep moving the target so like we're talking about should we take a ton away from a practice for one quarterback and I'm saying no don't take too much from it like yes he looked good know there weren't these huge gavs or things where you like have concerns going in but at the same time understand the situation where he's not going to get sacked he's not going to get crazy pressure they're they're taking half of the Playbook away which is going to be a factor come regular season when you do need your quarterback to run or deal with defenses that are getting home a lot I'm saying just don't don't take too much away from one practice and you are taking too much away from one practice and then as a counterargument you're saying Sims didn't do this or Sims didn't I'm not saying I I I'm telling you yes I think rla is way better than Sims but that doesn't change the fact that people didn't feel the way about Sims after the spring game last year that they did after the Colorado game last year so when everybody wants to get hyped up and talk about anything from clear-cut day one starter all the way up to Heisman and national championships just keep in mind your opinions on a lot of players drastically change from practices and spring games to to the middle of the season when reality hits when when guys are trying to take your head off when guys are putting crazy pressure on you when defenses are disguising blitzes and coverages and throwing different things at you and crowds are going crazy and you can't hear and you have to make audibles and now you're expected to do multiple things including run or at least elude that you're not having to do in a nice mellow flow and a calm environment during a practice game that's all I'm saying not taking anything away from the dude I'm saying don't take too much out of something that was just a practice so am I going too far when I say I think we have a clear-cut better quarterback than last year I think we have a easier schedule than last year to start the season to get off to a good start okay and those two and you're in the second year of Tony White's awesome defense the players aren't learning a new defense for the first time this is their second year they've got things figured out they're I think the defense is going to be just as good unless the star power that you're losing is too much but I don't know man I don't know we did lose some defensive backs all of those things were true before this practice game before this scrimmage as but the riola thing was like a little bit up in the air like how good is this dude really and today he just he looked like a real quarterback like a really really good quarterback doing that yes but but okay so let's just let's not go to Sims let's say kin or let's take let's take um harberg or longall like they're not even did go ahead did harberg do the same things or or run the same type of offense in this scrimmage that he ran last year no he mostly ran the ball last year did check Downs once in a while he tried to force some stuff that's where he was getting his pigs but he was asked to do in this scrimmage basically what his weaknesses last year were later Mike and then you have two what's that I was just saying later Mike go ahead oh and then you have two guys that are more passing quarterbacks the the play calling and and things like that favored them and maybe that's what they're transitioning to this year that that could be the case 100% but rather that's what you rather no matter if you're run heavy or pass heavy out of your quarterback whatever it is your quarterback is going to face drastically different pressure when he's playing defenses in the Big 10 as opposed to mostly the second string of his own defense in the spring game where they're not allowed to hit him uh they went first defense versus first offense okay but he on that First Defense weren't there is what I'm saying yeah yeah it's true and they're absolutely not allowed to hit him and he knows it so that is that is going to change the way you act in the pocket for sure that's all I'm saying is like there's there's a whole dimension of the offense that was completely left out of this scrimmage and one guy you know in most people's minds is clearly better than the other two at that Dimension and two guys are more equipped to execute the other dimension and the other guy's not so of course he's going to look better and and that's not to say he's not better I'm just saying that's why I'm not taking a ton away from this everybody I thought everybody looked good I didn't think anybody looked horrible R looked much better passing than the other two but he had a very all of them had very comfortable situations for passing they weren't going to get hit there wasn't a ton of blitzing it seemed like when there was blitzing they would have gotten to him or you know guys would move a little bit they could they could move a little more comfortably but I don't to me it's just not something I'm going to take a ton away from all right moving off of quarterbacks running backs who you starting I'm going to go run to the bathroom real quick while you talk I'll still leave listen I'm going go about who running back running backs um I don't know like again I think go going into this especially when Ru was asked when when you hear him talk about the running back situation he's almost been down on the running back room he seems to in the way he talks without just blatantly saying he seems to favor EMT Johnson a little bit and he alludes more to the Past protection aspect of the running game or or you know which running back is going to be in there for that because all the running backs are good all of them have different things that they do better whether it's speed outside running inside running power running whatever but his concern seems to be with picking up pass protections and again without real legit Blitz packages and being able to hit the quarterback it's hard to see in a game like this who who's better who lacks in it who misses the guys or whatever and maybe if we go back and watch it you'll see a little bit more where they tried to get looks like that to see but as far as actually carrying the ball I thought I still think emt's the guy who knows what you're G to get out of rier and Irving when they come back or at what point they come back but I thought well who's your boy from Oregon I just went blank dowle or Dowell I don't know how you specifically pronounce I thought he looked good from a physical aspect it looked like he he has some good quickness and he seemed real decisive for his size he looks Shifty and quick too this is an Oregon running back this is an Oregon running back very easy for guys to bring him down there had to be multiple guys that seemed like most of the time when they were tackling him I thought IES I thought IES looked a little green like he he's seems very Shifty and fast but he looked like there was sometimes where he'd have a couple extra Jukes almost like he wasn't sure which way he wanted to go so he kept trying to bounce um I think I think he him and I think I could be screwing this up but I think he's the one that's been more alluded to that is not great in pass Pro and the decisiveness like talk about no Quint not qu knives D or Dowell whatever it I think his thing was that he wasn't picking up the Playbook as quick or there wasn't as many options things I could do I could be screwing that up or flipping them around but I think if you're able to to go with one of the true freshmen as far as when the season goes if they can handle the blitzes and the the contact and things like that and your passing game can be that available to you in that wide open where you have that many options with all those tight ends and and fast receivers I think that's going to help immensely your running game you know then then it it will come down to who is the best at picking up the the in pass protection because all of them seem like they're talented enough to to carry the ball and you know execute in the running game it's just the more you're able to pass the more defenses can't stack the box and have to worry about you picking apart the middle of the field with those tight ends and going deep with your speed you're really going to open up your running game whether it's through the quarterback or the running back but what did any of them really stand out to you Dowell looked so good to me I mean you called it like he's going to be my guy I'm sure I'm sure of it but also uh EMT EMT looked EMT just looked a little bit stronger and he was so I feel like he was so skinny last season he looks a little bit bigger and so yeah I mean I'm we all know he's a Speedster we all know he's got Vision like crazy so I'm very excited I mean I I think that's just two good running backs we've got several I think the running backs are going to be great MWI 87 says didn't catch the game do we actually have wide receivers on the roster this year so Malachi was out but other than that um any wide receivers stand out to you no and to be honest it's not that they didn't it's that the tight ends took over the tight ends took over and every time there was a receiver doing something if it wasn't Lloyd or Alex bulock I had to look up what number because we got the new guys and things like that but um nobody looked bad I mean you had the one I can't remember who it was where it hit both of his hands and bounced off him and got picked off I didn't see like crazy drops there was there were some nice catches may I mean the tight ends really but um yeah maybe that's a maybe that's going to be more of a factor this year when you have that many talented a or talented athletes at tight end that instead of risking Health on quarterbacks and adding that much pressure like you're just going to go two sometimes three if you get a Carter Nelson or um fedon like in a slot type situation where you could go or or one of them lines up in the back field where you could use your tight ends to dump off in the back field short passes up front and take away from the quarterback half run or take away from calling the options to keep the the defense on its heels maybe they're going to go that route you know you've got the guy you've got a lot of really good guys in the tight end spot and now you've got saterfield coaching the tight ends instead of the quarterback so which they he wasn't really coaching the quarterbacks but you know what I'm saying so I don't know I I think they did kind of take away from that but the way they seem to be utilizing the tight ends and his athletic because a lot of the tight ends are they it's kind of one group to me you know your tight ends receivers so I mean maybe that's going to be more of the the norm for him going into this year icy Tater says Banks Lloyd and fedoni looked good naor showed some flashes and then suicide slush puppy says jakori Barney Jr uh looked good and yeah so so that's who I think is going to really get a chance to step up and play as uh as a freshman you heard two things you heard for I'm pretty sure he had a decent catch I think I saw him catch a ball that was uh one of the better plays but also rules saying this is a guy that I recruited like my life depended on it he says he he said he recruited jakori Barney Jr I think he was number 19 he recruited him like his life depended on it and he's the kid who would would have returned that kickoff for a touchdown but didn't re didn't realize that the gray Jersey chasing him was on the other team so he just kind of he thought he was coming up to block for him so he's I think he's going to be our starting kick returner bro after that those two things the way rule talked about him and that kick return yeah you know we've been struggling to have a good returner and there you go you know kind of to me reminds me a little bit of um what was our guy that we lost uh what was our little oh a few years ago man damn damn it was when I lived up there well we're of yeah returner wide receiver like he was a really good receiver too he ended up leaving us wand Del Robinson not wand Del not wand Del if anybody can Luke mcaffrey not Luke man wandell was nice though right I I'll think of it but yeah um I'm just excited for this year bro I'm just excited I cannot wait I can't believe that I have hope before the season you know like last season usually no no no last year we were so subdued compared to the season before the season before it was like frost you know he's this is going to be the year that he figures it out and then the second year was like okay that took a while you know that didn't work out so we need to be slow rolling this this whole rule thing and not expect anything uh it was after Pearson L but that's a good one Jeff it was after Pearson El Spielman thank you [Music] Spielman he reminds me a little bit of Spielman that could be I could be off on that JD Spielman um Jose said he went to Michigan and got injured and fizzled out a damn he was good for us yeah where did he go okay so maybe Jose was talking about wandell or no no wandell went to Kentucky Kentucky yeah he said you talk in the turn coat to Minnesota I mean you know I thought it was Minnesota wasn't his dad like the yeah GM or president something for the Vikings or something like that yeah what I wonder what happen to him um okay talk to wide receivers talk tight ends anyone stand out to you from the defensive side of the ball no but it's the same thing with that is you had what five or six you're starting 11 didn't play or wasn't there um a lot of the guys that I felt did do some decent things by the time I looked up their number to figure out who they were we were on to three plays later MH um that's kind of where you get into do you have a lot of guys that don't have a lot of experience playing that aren't fully executing that well why some of the offense looked as good or you know especially quarterback play looked as good as it did um feel like the tight ends were able to get loose off of a of had tackles and stuff which you didn't see a lot last year I didn't feel like they were the swarming to the ball was as consistent as it was last year but again you've got a lot of your your defense wasn't playing so I don't know man like I said there I I didn't come off of this with a lot of takeaways like one way or the other like oh we're screwed in this spot or we're good in this spot it's just I felt like just good in the sense that nothing alarming popped up no crazy injuries nobody look like absolute dog [ __ ] that is right supposed to be good Alano yeah I mean you can that's my one red flag that might be the biggest yeah that might be the biggest concern cuz that's you know if anything no pressure you know that's basically you look at every NFL kicker they're pretty much 100% when they're kicking extra points field goals unless it's crazy wind or something like that when they're practicing warm up doing whatever it's the pressure of the game and situations stuff like this and this is about as pressure free as you're going to get and if you're struggling yeah what happens when we're in Colorado bro are you g to have any confidence in him kicking field goals week two in Colorado because I'm not bro I'm gonna be I'm be [ __ ] bricks I don't know I mean last year I thought he was pretty streaky and I think a lot of it was kind of chocked up so he's a fresh getting settled in he's thrown in as a true freshman blah blah blah but he had stretches where you know Colorado had some bad kicks some other games had some bad ones and then he had little stretches where he looked good so it's I don't know you know it's do you have somebody else ready to go that's what I was just going to say is there anyone that can compete with him and push him to either get better or take his spot you know yeah we'll find out um offensive line how'd they look to you I mean I thought better than last year that's all I'll say I'm not saying anything crazy just better than last year I mean they were they were pushing people around they were making some openings for the running backs and of course they're not going up against Hut mocker though or Robinson and again you didn't see Sachs or crazy QB a couple of would have been Sachs right but it's different when a guy pulls up or they blow the play dead because he's clearly dead to rights as opposed to watching your quarterback get laid out and then going goddamn whose guy was that who blew that you know what I'm saying so like it doesn't jump off the screen to you as I don't know and they're they're kind of in the same situation as a defense they've got guys coming back from injury they have guys that have been held out of spring C or spring practice as far as really playing that weren't there I don't think Ben Scott was playing um what's his name still coming back from injury you're plug and playing some different guys that's why they had the great Jersey so they could interchange things on both sides and do it but I just a lot of it man honestly is I've gotten to the point where for better for worse I completely trust Rule and the staff and I feel like as we keep recruiting we're getting better talent and I feel like this is the best in a few eras of coaches as far as developing players that we've had that I'm just like anxiously but patiently waiting to just see what they're going to do but trusting that it's going to work out you know whether it's whether it's at the time that that certain people or myself want it to be or if it's at a slower Pace or whatever I just I don't I don't have a worry like I've had in the past that there's going to be regressions at positions or from season to season I feel like we're just at worst going to Plateau at certain positions or even maybe a season or two where it's the same as the previous year but overall it's going to be a slow and steady increase in across the board development Talent records and just keep finally going in the in the right direction even if it's slow so I'm not too worried about as bad as the line was a couple years ago that that's going to be a longl lasting thing like it it might linger for a while because it's that's one of the hardest positions to bring in young guys and get them into it's like most of your offensive linemen are have already been red shirted and don't start until maybe a year or two after that so I just that's one of the positions I feel like you're going to have to be a little bit more patient with but I feel like they're going to address it like it's not something they're going to overlook or go we want guys with 4240 times and athleticism don't worry about the line just throw some at the I don't think they're going to do that like I feel like frost kind of did that I felt like um it wasn't a huge concern for RI and guys like that so I mean I'm just I don't know man just kind of confident that things are going to one way or the other you know gradually whatever pay I don't know what pace I can't say Oh They'll have it this team will be in this situation at the end of the year this next year or whatever but it's like I do feel like they're just going to steadily consistently get better across the board wow the worst thing about the spring game is it's such a like [ __ ] tease to be honest like get you so excited for Husker football then you have to wait so long manly yep so freaking long like it's going to be forever how many days do you think we have until the first game was it 826 or something like that I have no idea four months away I don't want to wait but this really helps us start to understand what the team looks like and how to break down position groups which is what I'm sure we'll go into next next you know the next phase of content will be breaking down position groups and I don't even know where to start man I think maybe I think maybe wide receivers would be interesting you know yeah because we got so many new ones so many new ones tight end is to me it's crazy I feel like so talented at tight end man I don't know how they did there so many different guys catching balls and plays that looked well like whether it was a great catch or a run after the catch or whatever and some of them were you know outside of fedon and boner and guys like that it's like well who's this guy you look him up oh he's a tight end think it's a receiver as a tight end and then you've got Carter Nelson's not even there yet so it's like that room seems to be just absolutely stacked and I can't wait well guys
