Ex-Stoughton police detective indicted in death of Sandra Birchmore

hey there True Crime enthusiasts today I have an incredibly shocking and heartbreaking story a former stouton police detective Matthew Farwell has been federally indicted for the murder of Sandra birchmore this case is filled with disturbing details that will leave you questioning everything Sandra birchmore was found dead in her apartment back in 2021 initially her death was ruled a suicide but a pathologist hired by her family determined it was actually a homicide and that's where things took a dark turn Farwell is accused of having a sexual relationship with Sandra from the time she was just 15 years old the relationship allegedly continued until she was 23 it's also alleged that she became pregnant with farwell's child and informed him in December 2020 his reaction far from supportive in February 2021 Farwell allegedly strangled Sandra to death and staged her apartment to look like a suicide he's now facing charges of killing a witness or victim and wire fraud if convicted he faces a minimum sentence of life in prison as if this wasn't enough prosecutors claim Farwell instructed Sandra to delete evidence of their relationship before her death he also allegedly tried to scrub data from his phone afterward and get this he's accused of lying to investigators who originally handled the case Federal investigators stepped in about a year ago and uncovered new evidence leading to farwell's indictment he was arrested by an FBI SWAT team in Rivier Massachusetts stouton police chief Donna mcnamer called the allegations a horrific Injustice and the norfol District Attorney's Office stated they are fully supporting Federal authorities in this case attorney general Andrea Joy Campbell didn't mince words calling farwell's alleged actions malicious predatory and horrific Sandra's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit Seeking Justice for the unimaginable pain they've endured this case has cast a dark shadow over the stouton police explorers Academy where Farwell and Sandra first met when she was just 12 years old Farwell is of three former stouton officers accused of having inappropriate sexual relationships with Sandra but he's the only one accused of starting when she was underage the case has also brought to light concerns about abuse within the Explorers program Nationwide over the past 50 years there have been more than 193 allegations of inappropriate behavior by law enforcement reported this story is far from over and we'll be following it closely if you're as horrified by this as I am make sure to hit like And subscribe for more updates on this case and other true crime stories thanks for watching and stay safe out there
