WATCHING FOX FOUR NEWS. ALL RIGHT. SO WE WILL FINALLY DRY OUT FOR A FEW DAYS AFTER ANOTHER MORNING POUNDING OF RAIN AND THEN THAT LED TO FLOODING. HELLO I'M STEVE EAGER. HI EVERYBODY I'M HEATHER HAYES, SO TRAFFIC REALLY WAS A MESS AFTER THE STORMS ROLLED THROUGH, STREETS AND LOW LYING AREAS WERE FLOODED. THEY FLOODED, IN FACT, QUICKLY FROM TWO WEEKS OF SATURATION AND THIS HAS BEEN A REALLY BUSY STRETCH FOR DALLAS FIRE RESCUE AS WELL. FOX FOUR'S STEPHEN DIAL JOINS US FROM THE TRINITY RIVER WITH MORE ON HOW ALL THIS UNFOLDED THIS MORNING. STEPHEN PART OF THE TRAIL THAT GOES ALONG THE TRINITY RIVER ARE STILL UNDER WATER. OUR WEATHER TEAM TOLD ME THAT THIS IS OUR SECOND WETTEST START TO THE YEAR ON RECORD IN TEXAS, AND DESPITE ALL OF THESE HIGH WATER EVENTS, LUCKILY THERE HAVE BEEN NO MAJOR INJURIES REPORTED IN DALLAS COUNTY FOR NEARLY TWO WEEKS. NORTH TEXAS HAS BEEN HAMMERED WITH HEAVY RAIN DUMPING ABOUT EIGHT INCHES IN THE PAST WEEK ALONE. WEDNESDAY MORNING, THE ROADS IN DALLAS COUNTY WERE HAZARDOUS. PLACE TO BE THE LAST TIME THAT I REMEMBER US HAVING THIS BAD OF ISSUES WITH FLOODING HAPPENED RIGHT AROUND 2020. EVEN FOX FOUR TRAFFIC REPORTER CHIP WAGNER THOUGHT THE MORNING COMMUTE WAS A DOOZY, AND HE'S SEEN A LOT. THERE WAS AN 18 WHEELER HANGING FROM AN OVERPASS IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS OFF 75 IN LIVE OAK. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL, BUT THERE WERE NO MAJOR INJURIES. CARS WERE STUCK IN HIGH WATER ON MOUNTAIN CREEK PARKWAY AND ON LUTHER DRIVE. A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH FROM THERE, DALLAS FIRE HAD TO RESCUE A MAN FROM THE BOTTOM OF A 60 FOOT EMBANKMENT ALONG WHITE ROCK CREEK. WE HAVE GOTTEN SO MUCH RAIN THAT THE GROUND IS THOROUGHLY SATURATED, SO NOW IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH QUARTER INCH, HALF INCH IN AN HOUR TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING. THE FLOODING ISSUE WEDNESDAY SPEAKS TO AN EXHAUSTING STRETCH OF SEVERE WEATHER WE'VE SEEN SINCE MEMORIAL DAY. IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, DALLAS FIRE AND RESCUE HAD NEARLY 100 HIGH WATER CALLS AND RESCUED EIGHT PEOPLE. CHIP SAYS WHILE IT SOUNDS LIKE COMMON SENSE, IT'S IMPORTANT TO TURN AROUND WHEN YOU SEE STANDING WATER ON THE ROAD. IT ONLY TAKES STANDING WATER ABOUT 6 TO 8IN DEEP, MOVING QUICKLY TO START MOVING YOUR VEHICLE JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT THROUGH DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU ACTUALLY WILL. ASIDE FROM THE HIGH WATER CALLS, DNR ALSO RESPONDED TO 916 DOWNED POWER LINES. MANY OF THOSE FROM THE MAY 28TH STORM CHIP SAYS BECAUSE THE GROUND IS SO SATURATED AND DRAINS ARE CLOGGED FROM CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS IN SOME AREAS, LIKE LBJ FREEWAY, IT MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS SITUATION. WHEN RAIN IS IN THE FORECAST, THE WATER LEVELS CAN RISE DRAMATICALLY FROM AN INCH OR TWO TO A FOOT OR MORE IN LESS THAN 30S. SO WE ARE TIRED OF THE RAIN. WE GET A LITTLE BREAK IN EXCHANGE.
