Western Conference standings the Galaxy sit at 52 points 27 games played LFC is at 47 points with 25 games played with the Galaxy could open up an eight-point lead tonight with the opportunity on the 14th at Dignity Health Sports Park with El trafico then there's a good chance that the Galaxy can really make a run for the Western Conference title Salt Lake is tied lafc at 47 points they're on 27 games played Colorado is at 44 points at 27 games played and keep an eye on Colorado they continue to play well and they have a hot goalkeeper right now Vancouver 41 points and in fifth Portland's at 40 and sixth Houston also at 40 points but officially in Seventh Place Seattle right now in 40 points also and in eighth place and Minnesota holds on to the last playoff spot right now in the Western Conference at 36 although Austin's two points back Dallas is not far behind with three points back in 11th Place Kansas city has an out outside chance of 27 points St Louis is in 13th San Jose in seven in 14th Place in the western conference with just 17 points on the year now I mentioned Miami has 59 points they played 20 7 games after today they'll have a game in hand on the Galaxy they are the supporter Shield leaders right now in Major League Soccer followed by Cincinnati at 51 points through 27 games Columbus at 49 New York at 42 the rest of the playoff teams right now in the Eastern Conference are New York City at 39 Charlotte at 38 Orlando at 37 Toronto is just in at 33 Atlanta just above the line at 31 the final six weeks of the major league soccer season are going to be crazy for those middle to bottom playoff opportunity clubs in each conference because everything is so tight and every win means so much this is where we are now in Major League Soccer where it's going to get extremely interesting St Louis and the Western Conference likely out they'll need more than more than a miracle to get in at the point at this point where they are 24 points on the season and in 13th Place in the MLS West but it all starts today for them this is why they're going to take an opportunity against the Galaxy to see what they can do they put up four goals last game they do have a great goalkeeper in Roman berky although he has a 1.77 goals against average this year 122 shots 78 saves he's given up 43 goals this year and some would say at least one of those goals were his fault at Portland last time out so there's a lot of work to be done here today for the Galaxy a very important game for the Galaxy a lot of good things can happen for victory with the victory for the Galaxy and that's why these 90 minutes are very important here today in a very warm day in St Louis Missouri for the Galaxy again against Atlanta it was a little slow to get out of the gates but then they got things going in the second half the last 30 minutes they looked very good and this is something that Greg vany wants to continue to capitalize on and they'll have to do it today without Ricky minutes some in this match he will get a if he gets a yellow card he will be suspended in the next galaxy match and you want to make sure that everybody is available especially for the match on the 14th for the Galaxy looking at some of the numbers here they're the team of course that passes you to death 590 total passes a game on average where St Louis is at 370 that tells you a big difference now here's the thing that's really in the Galaxy favor passing accuracy for the Galaxy they're at about 90% 89.5 St Louis is at 78.5 so a team that really presses that's what their game plan normally is they'll press High they'll make it difficult on the back four for the Galaxy to get out usually May yosida or Jaylen Neil they'll try to pin one of those guys on the ball the Galaxy what they need to do in transition hopefully win the ball up field but if they have to come from the back they have to get that ball out quickly find bu bugman needs to be quick with the ball as well to get that ball in the Midfield and then you see St Louis having to chase back to their own goal and that's where the Galaxy can really really punish the opponent here today this is a team that's given up a lot of goals this year 50 so far this season they've scored 36 they are minus 14 on the campaign the Galaxy plus 14 on the campaign 52 goals for and they've conceded 36 on the season so the Galaxy right
