shed are just like the ones we found rigged into a car's gas tank I don't know anything about a rigged car and I have no idea how these caps ended up in my shed really well if you didn't put them there who did how am I supposed to know it's a frame job oh you're being framed it's the only explanation that can be so uh-huh well that's an elaborate frame job considering they use the exact same wiring technique that you used to do 3 years ago I told you that I'm done with all that where you been for the last few nights home alone trying to stay out of trouble well I got bad news for you Richie you're looking at a first deegree murder charge I've never hurt anybody in my life check my record I used to blow up Vehicles not people what do you know about this guy nothing I don't know who this is is but look I'm telling you anybody could have put these in my shed and anybody could be copying the way that I blew things up too I have worked so hard to stop being the guy that I was you have to believe me I'm being set up well Charlie he may deny his involvement but all the evidence points to Richie Turner it's his Mo he's in possession of all the equipment needed and he has the KN how to rig your car in the few minutes you were chasing the fence Runner well speaking of room how does our fence Runner fit into this showed Richie the composite didn't Flinch yeah well he's a good actor well there's another inconsistency Richie doesn't have a gray car well maybe the car was a coincidence I don't know Jos something's not adding up Charlie we can hold this guy for 72 hours that's it we need to find out in that time whether this is our guy or not because if he is we can't let him out out to the street guys I think I have a line on our fence Walker yeah yeah I wasn't getting anywhere looking into burglary so I widen my search to General Prowler reports what' you turn up well this shot was taken on a home security cam 3 months ago quality of the image isn't great but I mean how many people can there be out there walking backyard fences well it's pretty blurry but pretty sure that's her guy and these shots were taken by various security cameras over the past couple of months now turns out there's been a rash of General Prowler reports that may be linked to our guy any reports of thefts or break-ins or any arson attempts no nothing directly linked to him but there's also been a rash of general delivery thefts in the areas our Prowler was spotted he's a porch pirate he walks the fences scoping houses to see who isn't home and then if a delivery is made to that house he sweeps in steals the package I also looked into the dates of these various sightings look like our guy might be a creature of habit sorry what do you mean well he frequents each area for precisely One calendar month before moving on July August September and more specifically he only shows up to Tuesdays through Thursdays and today being Thursday means he's probably on the prowl so how do we catch him by using the right bait Jesse see if anyone in the neighborhood's on vacation [Music] yep package is in [Music] place and the GPS inside the parcel is transmitting beautifully Charlie you in Rex in position just a guy and this dog out for a stroll right buddy are you getting the GPS yeah it's coming through so that house the owners are gone for 8 days and if our guy's been involved in that and then the next day my canine partner found you near his house you ran why did you run if you have nothing to hide your dog came after me I was scared well this explosive device was planted in my car while I was chasing you well that's adding attempted murder to the list I couldn't have done that you just said you were chasing me yeah but we think you had a partner this man right here Richie Turner you lured me away and he planted the device I've never seen this guy before this is crazy I have nothing to do with any of this really okay Connor why don't you convince me Connor I'm giving you one chance of this make the most of it all right the night of the explosion I was there locking the fences looking for well you know what I was looking for so what happened I heard the explosion the whole place kind of shook I went to go see what was up watched the fire Chucks arrive and I saw how upset that lady was you're probably not going to believe me but I just wanted to know how she was so I came back the next day to check things out and you were there your dog spotted me I couldn't get caught so I ran in my car I don't know anything about that I just come back to scope a fence you would have caught me the first time mhm it doesn't like just anyone Connor you told me everything when I first started walking the fences of that neighborhood I was watching the dead guy's house I saw something what it was his wife sometimes when her husband left some dude would come visit her they were more than just friends I should have told you about the affair I'm so sorry it started back when Shawn and I were having troubles but I couldn't keep doing it so I ended it when about 3 weeks ago did Shawn know no no I never wanted to hurt him that's why I broke it off how'd the true but if she was involved it would explain how the killer gained access to the garage without being seen and also how they knew exactly what to say tooran there okay and what about this kid Connor how does he fit in well we've got nothing directly linking him to the crime no hard evidence on Richie Turner either I might be a to help with that yeah blasting caps have batch numbers encoded on them so I compared the blasting caps that you retrieved from Richie Turners with the one that re pulled from your car let me guess they're from the same batch yes exactly but here's the interesting thing that batch was sold to a road Building Company here in St John's the road Building Company reported some stolen blasting caps from a job site near Argenta 4 weeks ago any suspects no none identified however security cam caught a suspicious gray sedan in the area shortly before the theft looks like the one we saw just after your car was wired Charlie yeah stolen plates mhm you got it in one and that's not the only explosive information I dug up I looked into Shawn and Leah's finances and came across this that looks like a life insurance policy detailing both Leah and Shawn as each other's beneficiaries we not uncommon for a married couple well here's the thing the policy was taken out 3 weeks before Shawn was murdered oh isn't that an interesting timing wait what was the payout $2 million all payable to Leah well maybe she's not as broken up about her husband's death as she's letting on wait a second Jesse see uh zoom in on the name of the salesman who sold him the policy yeah sure thing Phil Cummings wait that's the guy who was investigating Richie Turner's carf fires years ago yeah one and the same [Music] you recognize this man that's him that's the guy the wife is too what happened to all the husbands nothing nothing they're all still alive she's a Serial divorce a it's a lot of alimony settlements yeah she's doing pretty well in that department did sea know about her history absolutely that's why he had a very stringent prenup in place if they got divorced she got nothing but in the event of Shawn's death she gets everything exactly not to mention a huge Insurance buyout so Leah and Phil want Shawn out of the way so they can spend the rest of their life together but Phil finds out that Firebug Richie Turner is getting out of prison but provides them with a perfect Fall Guy but why the hit on you and Rex well sah said that the igniter was improperly wired you know what I bet that was on purpose yeah that provides us with an intact blast cap and points the finger directly at Richie Turner yeah you know I didn't get anywhere with Leah I should try my luck with Phil Cummings come [Music] Pal Jesse no sign of Phil at his house you should probably call his office already did didn't show up to work today well maybe he's at Leah's squad car drove by but uh no sign of either of them they could have made a run for it already we should charged with Sean's murder so I guess that means Richie Turner is in the clear yeah I I called his parole officer to let him know he had no involvement what about Connor what happened to him well him and his parents going to see a counselor and they're committed to working it out oh that's good news yeah it is well Rex what do you say we call it a day hm come on pal hey Rex how are you oh seems like you two have met we have Jesse introduced us my name is Vina oh yeah um Jesse just mentioned you I'm Charlie nice to meet you you too Rex is pretty special yeah yeah am uh pretty lucky to have him as a partner Rex is your partner yeah pretty much joined at the hip that's quite a coincidence Jesse led me to believe that he had a dog named Rex too how about that two identical dogs with the same name in the same department or maybe there's another explanation yes yes there is I mean well te technically technically Rex does doesn't belong to Charlie he belongs to the major crimes
