10 Things You Didn´t Know About Lydia Ko..

Intro from leading the women's money list as a teenager to becoming the youngest world number one in both female and male golf Lydia Coe is one of the finest talents the game has ever seen but behind that beautiful smile an amazing golf swing there are some things you really don't know about Lydia Coe from firing her coaching caddies to having controlling parents and even an eye disease that could affect her career what about that one time she embarrassed a sports journalist on live TV oh gross these are 10 crazy things that you don't know about Lydia Coe coming up at number 10 firing her coach FIRING HER COACH AND CADDIES and caddies despite all the wealth recognition being named one of Time magazine's 100 influential people as a teenager and being named in the espnW impact 25 list of 25 influencers and athletes who have made the most impact on women's sports Lydia has kept true to her Roots repeatedly praising her parents as her biggest inspiration across all the years of her career but when she began to slide from the summit of golf her former swing coach for three years from 2013 to 2016 David Ledbetter had a theory about the cause but Lydia wasn't having any of it while blaming her parents ignorance as the cause of her struggle Ledbetter said he was angry and pretty sad watching her play when she knew what she could really do Ledbetter also revealed that her parents Gil Hong KO and hyong Bong Sook were so naive that they even misguided their daughter in golf and controlled every part of her life including her bedtime clothing practice times and itinerary it was pretty bad that Ledbetter said I would often think it's not easy coaching three people despite the respect she must have for him having won 13 of her 19 LPGA victories with him as her coach Lydia wasn't having any of this Co responded in an interview that if she was going to make any decision regarding her career she'd always talk to her parents about it after all her mom most especially keeps her extremely grounded I think my mom especially keeps me super grounded this was coming on the heels of firing Leadbetter and dumping her longtime caddy Jason Hamilton ahead of an expected equipment switch from Callaway to pxg KO would later hire Gary Gilchrist as her new coach and Gary Matthew is her caddy but after nine events Co ended up firing her Newfound caddy did you know that Co one of the best female golfers on the planet is also recognized by other names yeah that's right and that brings us to number nine on our list number nine KO was nicknamed onion for a KO WAS NICKNAMED ONION FOR A BIZARRE REASON bizarre reason she was given the nickname onion by a former New Zealand prime minister and you'll be shocked to find out why Lydia recalled arriving at Dunn Donald links prepared for a cold golf session and wearing leggings under her golf pants but with the sun shining and the weather turning out better than expected Lydia shed a few layers during her round which surprised the former prime minister of New Zealand who she was playing with so as she played with him she kept taking off layers and layers and he was like you're an onion ever since the name is stuck among Avid golf fans as she became a superhero but even superheroes get eye infections you see when your success on the course depends on the clarity of your vision you might have a problem if you don't act fast number eight KO suffers a career-threatening eye infection Lydia Coe once had a viral eye infection which saw her withdraw from The Volunteers of America Texas Shootout KO was said to have been battling allergies due to the pollen in the air in Dallas which worsened the irritation This was later confirmed by her agent Yim who said that the New Zealander suffered from the eye infection all week and was advised by doctors to stay away from contact lenses until she fully recovered Cole later took to her Instagram account to thank everyone for the support despite pulling out of the competition thank goodness she got better and returned to her winning ways and guess what she did when her sight got better yeah Co embarrassed a male journalist on live TV number seven Coast speaks about her period on live TV so Golf Channel's Jerry fultz spotted Co receiving treatment at the lpga's Palos Verdes championship and was pretty concerned that he had to ask her what was wrong but her response was definitely not what fultz bargained to hear Lydia who is on her period explained that her mid-round physical therapy was only because it was that time of the month and nothing too serious Jerry Golf Channel's veteran reporter who has covered the game for over two decades was at a loss for words and all he could say was uh thanks Cole laughed in response to the seemingly awkward reaction and said I know you're at a loss for words Jerry honestly it is that time of the months I know the ladies watching are probably like yeah I got you while her comments about her period were met with mixed feeling her husband was totally indifferent number six Lydia is LYDIA IS HAPPILY MARRIED happily married speaking about her marriage KO is married to John Chung the youngest son of Hyundai car's Vice chairman Chun Tae Chung that's right she's married to the stunning heir of some Hyundai generational wealth the duo wed last year in December in seoul's massive myeongdong Cathedral Chung who was a bachelor's degree in philosophy and data science from Claremont McKenna College in California seems to know how to motivate his lady while speaking about her husband Lydia said Chung knows how to motivate her to be a better player and person being met him I think he motivates and inspires me to become a better person and a better player after the marriage in South Korea the couple headed to Northland for their honeymoon were something amazing happened number five co-bags a hole in one while KO BAGS A HOLE-IN-ONE WHILE HONEYMOONING honeymooning you know what they say about love being a beautiful thing well don't tell that to co who took to golfing when she should have been enjoying her honeymoon apparently her addiction to the sport is so huge she just had to swing that Golf Club while on her honeymoon KO who came off a sensational 2022 that saw her secure three wins on the LPGA Tour and returned to the number one spot in the world backed a rare hole in one on the 182 yard par-3 second hole in mangwai at the Terra IDI Golf Club as she took time out to enjoy round with her husband aside from being an accomplished golfer and splitting time between her career and her marriage did you know that the korean-born golfer also loves to spend time in the kitchen yeah you heard that right and that brings us to number four number four Co loves to cook in her KO LOVES TO COOK IN HER SPARE TIME spare time you see people barely spend time asking her about her life outside the sport so no one really knows how much Co likes to cook as a matter of fact Co once said that everyone seems to be more interested in her life on the course than off the course in an interview with Golf Digest Co said she likes to cook and spend time in the kitchen because it's entirely different from golf she even said sometimes her mom and her husband would offer to stay with her in the kitchen while asking her to take a break the 25 year old loves to cook Korean food and take off stocks from bean sprouts because it's entirely different from golf and relaxes her next up at number three did you know Co was the youngest player to reach world YOUNGEST PLAYER TO REACH WORLD NUMBER ONE? number one the 1997 born New Zealander had an aunt in succyan who lived in Sydney and played golf for fun insook somehow predicted she would be a fantastic golfer and gifted her two golf clubs a seven iron and a Putter and that was when her passion for the game began Lydia first achieved the top ranking on February 2nd 2015 when she was just 17 years 9 months and nine days of age this subsequently made her the youngest player of either gender to reach world number one at number two Co lost 15 pounds KO LOST 15 POUNDS aside from the major shake-up in her team in 2018 which saw her change coach caddy and Equipment the 20 year old lost 15 pounds thanks to a new cardio routine during the off season Co spends extended time in South Korea where she sleeps late and has no real workout routines so she decided to gain muscle and cut unnecessary fat her goal was to cut down on fatigue and improve her Fitness level and she sure reached that goal by Miles at number one Co was the youngest ever YOUNGEST-EVER WINNER OF THE LPGA TOUR winner of the LPGA Tour by winning the Bing Lee Samsung Women's nsw Open on the alpg tour at age 14. Lydia Coe became the youngest person to win a professional golf tour event interestingly Co had placed second in the event the previous year so in 2012 she came back battle ready and emerged Victorious but you see Lydia wouldn't have achieved any of this without a humble beginning and now I'll tell you a little backstory of her life Co is a South korean-born New Zealand golfer currently ranked the world's number one woman professional golfer born on April 24 1997 to kogil Hong and hyong Bong Suk Lydia Ko and her family lived in South Korea before migrating to New Zealand when Co was just four Ko's mom noticed she had a natural Talent especially for a child her age as she realized that her unique ability to hit a golf ball was not the average six-year-old swing it was like one of the more storied moments in the country's golf folklore when she was five her mom took her to a pro golf shop at the pupuke golf club on auckland's North Shore and met the owner professional Guy Wilson who is her coach until December 22nd 2013. Co would later come to the attention of the media when she competed in the New Zealand national amateur championships and the rest they say is history Lydia's success on the golf course has seen her accumulate over 25 million dollars in net worth this shouldn't come as a surprise because aside from resounding career earnings of 16 million 695 357 dollars Co has endorsement deals with Evian Lexis GMAT officials Echo Rolex Lululemon and probably her most lucrative deal of 14.5 million dollar deal with pxg Lydia Coe has gone from being the best female athlete to being an inspiration to young women out there but which of these things didn't you know about Co let me know in the comments section below for more intriguing golf content click this video showing on your screen right now
