right to tell the traders to crash their prices because um first of all you have to look at it from the point of where are they getting where are they getting it from how much profit are they making so they crashing their prices are they going to be selling below profit are they crashing the fu prices too are they going to crash Fu prices all these things are what you ask because I cannot crash my price and then I will not be able to go out to the market to go and buy you understand I don't have the purchasing power anymore we see that okay when it comes to the dollar to the naira it's still shaky and a lot of these things are being imported do you understand so telling them to giving them one month to crash prices see that they are also going to use one month two to bring down the dollar they going to use one month two to fuel is at 1,000 to a liter so are they going to bring it down cuz if not then why are you telling traders to bring it down how do they also compete I'm not trying to make a case for the Traders cuz a lot of them are just outright you know TS just being really greedy with you know a lot of things that they are doing but then telling them to crash their prices I mean what do you think about it I the federal government has a right the right to do that actually they have the right to do that the federal um the federal competition and consumer protection commission that's the p f fccpc have uh actually emba on a nationwide visibility study Market open market visibility study so what they do is they put all the indices of demand and Supply together where people are buying transportation and everything and then they look up the the the the that's what we call price fixing in in consumer goods okay price fixing then they look at price fixing and they try to know whether the you know in every Market that are union what whatever you're selling that are Union Union for meat Union for this Union for that so when they carry out their visibility study they liers with this Union and then they find out whether there is what we call um exorbitant increase in price of consumer Commodities it's very very important that we should know that they have the right to do that one thing we have to put into consideration here is that the market is an open place where anyone can come and sell goods and services okay and that market is also part of the part of government project government set up Market government decide where a particular Market should be government provide all the necessary social amenties required to you know make a market marketable okay so if you are coming into Market you pay taxes okay if you coming into Market you do a whole lot of things to acquire a an office space in a in an open market in a city where you can sell your goods and services and now if we find out that you are you know increasing prices of the services you are rendering to the Mass you understand this very body set up by the federal government can you know lias with you to bring down your price this um body is set up in a in situations like this okay when uh there's something like inflation when um uh yes when there is inflation and when there is scity of food or when people are battling with you know one price one one one high price of a particular commodity or the other so it's something that is in line and I know that like was pointing out will they also um crash down prices crash down the prices of things like Fuel and other things you know the the the indices that determines the price of fuel is totally different from the indices that determines the price of consumer Foods in the local market okay the people to bring together to know whether we can put price up or down they accessible but in the issue of Fel there's a whole lot of our bureaucratic uh and marketing bottleneck that surrounds fuel extra um drilling of Natural Resources exporting you understand um refining bringing back into the country subsidizing and a whole lot even uh the latest fuel issue we are having now is as a result of probably fuel not being in the Depo where um marketers can go and lift it and now take it to end users so there's a whole lot of um Logistics that are involved one once you can hear that subsidy has been removed very soon you hear that subsidy has not been removed somebody will come out from nmpc and tell you that since 2007 can you imagine since 207 that they have not paid anything like subsidy so they have different names that they use yes wasn't there are there are names there are kind of names that they can use to do a particular thing to me I think it's all about nomat what they want to call whatever they want to do okay they can call it that name and get away with it they will tell you today that subsidy is gone tomorrow subsidy is back so the problem is that what you have actually saved the money for we don't we don't get those promises okay we don't get I was thinking that probably by now the government ought to have come out to say we um suspended subsidy in May 2023 okay and from May 2023 to May 2024 we've saved this amount of naira or billions of naira and now we are going to use it to do what to settle our International debt we're going to put it in education we're going to put it in CG buses we're going to put it in um in insec you know to show the nation that you are calculated and you know exactly what you are doing today you hear this and the other day you hear so price is reducing price is something that the government can look into but what I'm saying is that it's not just all about using the officers of the government to go into open market to start um looking at how you can lock down shops or ask them to pay fine for increasing prices also look at agriculture also look at demand and Supply also look at Transportation because there are other forces of demand and Supply that really really need to be taken care of in such a way that it will invariably on that same circle of you know business bring down the price of a particular commodity if they go ahead to walk hand in glob with everybody in this chain of business okay yeah you can't get all the consumers but starting from retailers wholesale uh farmers and you can have a meeting with them know what they really need on daily basis to do their businesses so you can affect an organic reduction in price that will cut across board and you know serve for a very long term not just price has come down today we'll enjoy it for a weekend and the next week price will go higher than where it was before so if you don't really go into um knowing things on a on a grassroot you know understanding the indices the changes and the the demands yeah let's be let's be truthful right here part of the reasons why we are facing what we're facing this country at this point in time and consumers goods are on the hike is because of one removal of Subs I know right and also the dollar rise yes so now floating of the local currency so now not balancing out these problems these issues because these Traders are buying some of all these Goods higher than they used to right so yes I know some some of are are selling more than and get getting more um um um interest in in whatever Goods they selling right they over hiking right something like that though but now let's face reality and what it is right these problems this issues are meant to be tackled even before we start trying to you know moderate prices of consumer goods in the market why are we not talking about how to handle our our f um floated the Dair and all that how how why we not talking about these problems and you know now focusing on the people and the Traders and probably apparently forcing them to crash down prices but they buying this things in a in a in high prices higher higher than before I like I like your I like your um your initial opening by saying that there are people whose business is to high price okay let me tell you during protest there are people whose business is to loot yeah during election there are people whose business is to rig in every formal process okay setup for things to be done in the society there are people who go home to think of how to read that process you understand if you go to open market for every three bottle of M you pick one of them is a fake for every five products you you want to choose from E two of them is fake for everything you want to do right there are people who go home and stud how to do it what wrong what I'm trying to tell you here is that the kind of inflation we're having in Nigeria I think that all hands must be on deck so as the government are trying to do the ones that are within the Ambit you understand of the of the of the of the governance responsibility to ensure that um the price of um of of of energy goes down there was a wrer I saw there where 50% discount or rather have been given to on electricity tariff have been given to hospitals okay so as universities universities and hospitals so as government is trying to see how they can Implement other policies to cushion the effect the the effect of this hardship on people all hands must be on V because there are people who would definitely use this opportunity a let me tell you something there was a time when there is full scarcity okay the the full scarcity got to the point whereby in the night like this you know what it's called Black Black Market people cannot bring water you understand put it in a Jerry can pour a little foil on top of it so that when you when you sniff it you will think it's F and you pour it inside your car only for you to drive half a kilometer and your engine and everything will just you know stop you at a point so for every problem for every good thing for every B there are people who are their business is just to either to fake it you understand or to use that opportunity to you know astronomically increase price and also Pro from the you know from the masses that are complaining let me let me tell you something the the hardship we are facing okay is not all 100% government made no no no it's not all 100% government if all hands are on deck and if we call a spade a spade and not a f implement we all should be honest with ourselves that in the chain in the in this chain of this transaction in this trajectory okay yes the government bad policy have initiated all of them but let me tell you eh the people who are empowering it are Ordinary People Like Us Nigerians are the ones you understand ensuring that in every department of economic organization that things are getting harder for people okay and people are finding it difficult to have access to other social amenities that ought to have naturally been you know given to them okay before you will be a kind of um giv the opportunity to do your NYSC in a particular State okay you still have to go is it a t that is posting people to anywhere is you see people will get where they want some other people who don't know anybody will get where they want the system is rigged and corrupt okay so what we see now at the federal level the we call politicians are corrupt the corrupt politicians are the representative of neighborhood of corrupt Nigerians you understand representing them in the Senate because we all are corrupt in one way or the other if we start Shing corruption in open market you understand in federal and and state institutions in hospitals let me tell you something if you go to if you go to um if you go to government offices if you try to assess anything in in in State offices okay parastatal you you hear me before your file will move from one office to you must drop something from one office they are pointing accusing fingers at politicians but before you get an ordinary a it you understand you will drop something from this you will drop something this is a a nation you understand that is bedel in corruption so we have to read it we have to get it off from every system of political economic and social organization we have to change the Mantra we have to change our mindset is a mindset something is a mindset something our people still think that the the government is a place where you get to and you get rich okay so when we change it to where you as a place where you get to you have the opportunity to Pro to provide a solution and serve the masses that is only when we will start get getting what we want people are dying to get to political offices when they get to political office all their relatives get rich at the same time all of them they start getting contract all of them they start owning companies all of them they start traveling abroad buying houses building properties because their um relative is in is in government so that's that's the mother corruption that we're talking about that's what we're talking about here talking about I want us to um look at this um headline on daily Trust Nigerians paid 1.04 billion naira Ransom to kidnappers in one year one year so the kidnapping industry has made 1. see the irony IND at this point see the report if you go further if you go further if you go further if you go further in other this rers you can see where they give numbers of those who have been killed look at it 1, have been kill yes people killed 7,568 abducted in 1,30 incidents I could have actually been more fact here that there are people who now get up and they go into Apprentice as in they follow as in area kidnappers to learn how to to do boy boy the way you do entrepreneur you do apprentic ship okay they now monitor them watch how they find out who has money how to collect Ransom and all the rest of them and no one is doing nothing about it the the yes I know that we have a problem of security insecurity and I also know that we have a problem of corruption okay but I have tried to look at these two things favor you can't divorce one from another let me tell you one thing the insecurity okay the insecurity is powering the corruption because if you if you strengthen the security you understand which is also a body that checkmates governmental officials in what they are doing corruption will start dying so for corruption to keep on being going on and on you understand insecurity in the other hand will completely going on if all politicians shown corruption no nobody will fund what insecurity insecurity in is being funded okay it's been funded there are people funding banditry there are people funding Bo Haram and the government know them they know their names they know the banks they've done they know the bank don't want to expose them for the for what national security they they don't want to expose them for the interest of National Security and people are dying every day okay people are dying every day every day there is no single day you you go through the dailies That You Don't See where one Nigerian one Nigerian have lost his life as a result of insecurity I was going through the newspaper on my on the internet this morning and I remember you know in in foreign countries when when when I read about the number of Nigerians that have died in the as a result of insecurity and now sit back and say we don't value the life of Niger the life of Nigerians are not value we go out there to protest they will shoot us okay we go home Bandit will come to the house and kill us we go to the farm B will come to the farm and kill us we go to school they come and kidnap us from school no nowhere is safe nowhere is safe in this country because the federal government have not prioritized what security they' have not prioritized the life of their people okay I want to I want us to take a look at um the still on daily trust I think we are seeing a case of people fighting back cuz Z fire residents killed 37 Bandits Bandits so at this point everybody's going insecurity for insecurity Bandit for band because now people are now taking it Taking um laws and taking matters and taking their security into their hands because the residents are now killing the bandits back7 band Yes Yes is a welcome development um I've been clamoring for welcome development I have to I have to be honest let communities let me tell do you know do you know do you know the first law of life do you know the first law of Life the first law of life is self-preservation the let me tell you let's let's get it done if Law and Order collapse in Nigeria e we go back to the first law of life as in in your house you use everything available to you to defend your life and the life of your family when when Law and Order breaks down all of us will revive back to do what to the first law of life and when security breaks down in a nation like this eh members of that Community you understand let me tell you the most important law in Nigeria is the law of what life section 44 of the 1999 contion save your life oh protect your life okay protect your life let me tell you one thing if you are in a house and a criminal or an arm robber breaks in and enter into that place to hurt you to do anything you don't need whether that is n one one or not grab the most important Wicked weapon it's not going to be by your heart first of all kill him no no no no he selfdefense don't understand look there's mother okay first degree mother second degree okay now you have man slaughter you have self-defense these are categories depending on the circumstances s there's even provocation there's even provocation depending on circumstances surrounding the thing that made you to do what you did okay provocation can go in for manslaughter because you did it out of provocation depending Al you can even be set SC free okay now mother you're going in uh first degree second degree you are going you understand but when we look at issues like selfdefense is 100% escalatory in the sense that you just did it to save your own life because the law of first preservation is the first law of life so you cannot put me to jail that I had to kill a criminal that entered into my house I deserve a National Honor okay yet the way you should honor a police officer who cracked a crime is the way you should honor a member of a household who H down a bandit or a B do you know you know what they do to them if you don't do anything they rap they rap their wife in front of them they open the the belly of woman and bring out the children and and raise it up with the blood dripping what are you telling me if communities can harm themsel if they get them let use every everything within their disposal you understand to Decap decapitate them or remove them kill them do anything it will put fear in them it will put fear in them anytime you want to go out to attack any local community you might have all the guns okay they might have acid okay you might have all the all the all the bikes and everything that you can use they might have other crude means of that they will use to liquidate you if local locals and farmers can start thinking like this you understand it will be a very big push back on banut Tre boo Haram and um what do you call it yeah headers also headers who carry guns and when they get to the farm they will rape the owners of the farm their cow will they will rape the farmer their cow will eat the plant and the farm can you imagine so they like a caner woman they just come and finish you so um with this you're saying you're going by what um is proposing to legalize guns in Nigeria not to legalize guns because legalizing guns will warrant us to work with a very robust law enforcement agent the moment you legalize guns the propensity of gun related crime will astronomically rise I think what is basically saying everybody has to perhaps to start taking security security what do you call it what do you call it um vigilante okay look Hunters with then gone see you have to see that these things work because the hunters and the locals they know all the NS and crannies You Can't Hide You Can't Hide from them they can use all means you understand to reach your hideout and you know you know you know neutralize you so we have to include them you know dur the time Mr President called a meeting of all the traditional rulers in the whole Federation because there was a protest okay I am saying that if we engage all the traditional rulers you understand in all the Nigerian local community in respect to this issue of security we will find out we will do a whole lot we do a whole lot we'll find out where they are we'll sanction them not to Har them you understand and say if we find out that Bandits are H you Hing bandit in your we will remove you as a traditional ruler so when we engage this local they will go a long way to work with law enforcement work with local vigilante and hunters and they will remove all this things W be an issue together with military who provide the Drone and flying on let's I I know all these things when we say that it looks like okay it's very easy to implement so let's just hope that you know these things are implemented and like you really rightly said I mean security has to be everybody's business everybody's business has to be everybody's business we cannot fully wait like I mean the kidnapping industry has made a billion naira a billion 7,000 they declared profits declared profit 7500 people
