off coming moments from now and the trademark of both of these teams strong defense got to love it what will that mean for tonight's contest well the coach Coes will have a big role in a strength on strength matchup game planning takes on added importance and one more thing about these teams Brian I mean there is no shortage of effort now here's gray free throw line jumper it's rebounded by sabrini enescu I'm marking that one down I mean it's going to be a long time until we see her miss another one like that back to Vander slute to the right side six on the shot clock yancu misses yeah beat you yancu outside that's good and So Courtney Evander gets the assist they can't afford to give her that kind of look well it came off a good screen but still as a Defender you have to fight over the top of it and you need some help as well now here's gray gets that one to fall after missing her first two one for three from the field and we're about two minutes into the first [Applause] finals it's crazy to think about it guys but that was their first trip to the finals in 21 years and despite it being the Liberty's fifth finals appearance still no titles incredible when you think this is an original WNBA franchise in the amount of stars and Hall of Famers they've had over the years now here's Laney Hamilton pass to Jones here here zop touch off the glass great job by Jones so WNBA season Brian oh we all have loved it it brings extra excitement to the schedule so much so that the NBA adopted their own version of it yeah it's been great in the NBA and what I love about it we drove the lane in the first half she was on a mission it really was you know aggressive attacking basketball at its very very best is what we just saw just so fun to watch we love [Applause] it New York leading well New York won that 2020 Lottery and their prize man it was a great one Sabrina yonescu well she was the first piece right and she endured some tough times but her talent and overall give her shots she's going to find them Liberty call time here and the 2024 rookie class absolutely loaded but what is your favorite pick from that draft I'm going second overall with Cameron Brink she's just a force an elite shop blocker maybe one of the best shop blockers in the league from day one that defense is special plus she got a great offensive game and I'm going with the easy answer Caitlyn Clark her presence is already changing this league both on and off the floor that's the breakers get [Applause] noise on defense the aces they haven't given up any points here in the second [Applause] half yancu outside five to shoot three-pointer the rebound by Asia Wilson just like me nine times out of 10 she's going to bury the three when she's left all alone like that pass to Young for Asia Wilson She's Always a fact night in and night out well when you're a multiple time MVP us and the fans expect that there's no doubt she cemented herself as one of the best players of this gray stren by Guston yes great play by Chelsea gr has set it up makes great decisions and quick reads off of ball screens gray is a gifted point guard time out call to Liberty they want to Tinker with the game plan a little bit and Now's the Time to do it yeah there was clearly some things going on out there that the coaching staff just wasn't a fan of [Music] [Music] [Applause] bre Jones with it now young defending shot from the wing and all around the rim that time before dropping in a great feel for when the team needs a big play Jones is a timely and dependable scorer to the inside Rihanna Stewart with the steal oh and the fast break for the Liberty here's yancu and a great assist by Brianna Stewart as that one goes in what a huge basket yancu is at her best in the game's biggest moments pass to Wilson over Stewart Wilson no good shocking Miss that's one of her favorite spots on the floor now yonescu she's guarded by [Applause] Plum yancu outside but three pointer Is On Target it's easier to find success in the pick and roll game when you have the kind of High basketball IQ unesc has inside and they get it here's Wilson laid in with a nice touch off the glass as big time a we know not every team in the league is a title Contender so what's the key for teams in the rebuilding process Brian your scouting Department really matters because if you're a losing team your draft picks whether first or second round will play yeah and I'll throw in luck as well I mean those pingpong balls going your way winning the the lottery getting the first overall piit if you had an Wilson aiah Boston and when you add a player of that value that can change your fortunes pretty quickly here's Stokes Wilson defended by Stewart Fades back and it's Wilson missing New York [Applause] leading three ball dropping for her the defense should have done way more on that last play yeah I mean the D's got to be better as a coach you can't stand seeing her having that much space to get her shot off and that's an intentional foul kelse first personal foul second te shoot [Applause] two she drops the first one and that increases their lead to six well Vander salutes coaches have to appreciate the confidence she instills in her teammates she's a a playmaker in just about every sense of the word and the second free throw no good a tough break there absolutely critical chance right here and they need this to go their way 6 seconds separating the shot and game clock here's gra and that one goes in as she's fouled it'll be three points if she can convert the free throw [Applause] sh a dead eye outside shooter Gray's confidence on the offensive end is what makes her so dangerous and now they foul and stop the clock that's right no other option but to foul and you know just hope for some misses yeah they have to extend the game and use every last second on that clock good on the first and that gives them a four-point [Applause] cushion second one is good getting both at the line and it's a five-point gain outstanding work at the foul line to make this a two possession game and the aces call time here quick bucket than foul it's the really the only option they have at this point and the important thing to is who they foul they don't want to send an ace to the line if they can avoid it exactly Brian find the worst free throw shooter [Applause] immediately here's gray to the overtime period was outstanding this win has got to feel very satisfying so that's going to do it for this one folks my for
