weeks Cowboys in need of a backup cornerback help and Andrew Booth a guy that was picked up in a trade with the Vikings a couple of weeks ago of course the Cowboys sending Nan rght a former third round draft pick to Minnesota Booth out of Clemson a second round draft pick a couple of years ago of the Vikings and on the return du vau making some guys miss and gets out near the 25 yd line with penalty markers all over the place number six at the 18 yd line half the distance all right let's go down to the field and Kyle yman with a special guest yeah guys not with a special guest but I wanted to add a little bit on with Jordan Lewis a little bit earlier you guys were talking about how he was honored pregame uh of course the pregame news had to deal with the injury to donon Bland out 6 to8 weeks due to a stress fracture in his foot and in talking to some of the young cornerbacks that are on display tonight they all had positive things to say about the leadership of not only Trayvon digs but Jordan Lewis in that room as well he's been the guy that stepped up from his injury last year now moving into a healthy season again he's been the voice of veteran reason in that cornerback room and they're going to need him even more so now that Duron bland is out for at least 6 to eight weeks all right thanks Kyle there's a late flag coming in after the short gain by Royce Freeman the Veteran running back for the Cowboys who has looked good this preseason ping Defense number 91 that penalty is five yards from the end of the Run automatic first down penalty goes against Christopher Hinton adds some yardage there son of the former pro bowl offensive tackle Chris Hinton oh the donon Bland injury just look at what he did last year 2023 he had five pick sixes led the league with nine interceptions he's rolling out his Lance and a short pickup but even before that his rookie season it was when Jordan Lewis went down with the injury Duron Bland came through in a very big way playing as a slot corner for Jordan Lewis at that point and that was not his natural position we found out later on that he had never played slot prior to that and he just went ahead and filled a void that the Dallas Cowboys had he went out there made nothing but plays had a handful of interceptions and then obviously comes back last year and just puts the world on notice and go ahead and go ahead and secure that all pro this dude's Mr consistency they I don't know that they understood what they had when they picked him up but now they do and he's going to be Sly missed well and the other thing about it is of course Trayvon Diggs went down in the second game of the season last year with his ACL injury and so the Cowboys was so looking forward to having those two pro bowl corners on either side Trayvon Diggs and Duron Bland and now we're going to have to wait on that yeah the wait again back to back years we've been waiting for these guys to hit on the hit the field at the same time and you know just want to wish him a quick recovery and as uh there's Running Room for Freeman past the 40 he still wants to [Applause] go the big fedal run 6' 238 lbs that's what he's listed as Bill I call him 640 but the Big Fellas are taking care of business up front got double teams going at the line of scrimmage good job by TJ bass is letting off don't get the holding call and Royce Freeman is always going to get downhill that's not the man you want to see one-on-one in the hole nice pick up for Freeman on that play Ryan flenoy here boy Freeman makes it even more interesting the uh running back situation for the Cowboys with the the size that Zeke has and Rico D is another guy who can run between the tackles and Freeman and that's what causes a little bit of confusion when it comes to this decision this is not going to be an easy decision by this front office you have Ezekiel ellot and Rico D who are both physical running backs they they both get downhill they both want to run somebody over and Royce Freeman is really the same style of back so if you're looking at it yes he's a really assistant running back he's going to get positive yardage for you but if you're going to keep a third man at the running back position not the fullback but at the running back position do you want somebody who shares the same characteristics as your other two that you're going to keep or do you want to somebody who has a change of pace so that's the decision that this front office has to make more of Royce Freeman or a change of pace back like uh like a uh sorry Duce vau Lance fires right side and it's Tony Jefferson coming up with it down the sideline once again Tony Jefferson making a play for the Chargers you say he was in scouting now he was in scouting he was did he Scout himself the ring on the field is interception first down Los Angeles oh my man that's just one heck of a play Tre Lance is trying to figure it out too you see him looking year and one of the reasons that they feel like they will be improved is because of the Mike Zimmer philosophy more linebackers on the field you talk about even guys like Jordan Phillips and lynville Joseph who by the way they have agreed to terms with according to Jerry Jones nothing official just yet U they hope to improve their run defense with big guys up front and linebackers can go run and make plays Jarrett Patterson again has Running Room inside the 20 down near the 17 yd line that type of yardage right there is one of the reasons why Mike Zimmer is bringing in a lot of these Big Fellas on the front defensive line lynfield Joseph is my actually my ex- teammate bill from my time with the Giants really good player he's been around the league for a long time uh he's the reason why they're bringing in so much size is because they want one in three techniques that really just hold the fort okay you see lynfield Joseph there on your Slayers that's four guys being taken up and your linebackers can roam free and make make plays stick throws incomplete keep in mind Joseph at he goes about 64330 at least and he will turn 36 in October you're not asking for a lot of snaps from these guys though no I mean you talk about Jordan philis by the way if you guys look at your screen he is not playing anymore he went in there got his conditioning and now he's to the sideline you bring but Albert Huggins is there so big Huggins is in there 68 Albert Huggins that is not Mazy Smith that is 68 not 58 all right big Albert Huggins is in there to do the same exact job and you also have uh Denzel daxon who's in there as well who was signed as a free agent Patterson works the right side Buddy Johnson in on the stop 57 so you're seeing a lot of the same body types they're going to be rotating in into those interior defensive line positions and you're going to have an opportunity to see these linebackers on display who can make tackles in an open field these guys are all bigger linebackers than what we experienced last year last year we had safe Mars Bale coming down leading the team in tackles playing out of position but now you have true linebackers that can run around and hit you in your mouth well what did Jordan love the Packers quarterback say to Michael Parsons during the podcast we looked over and saw number 14 play a linebacker well now Maris Bell is playing safety which is his natural position and Maris Bell had a terrific season for the Cowboys Easton stick has the first down all the way down to the 2yd line that's typically the one guy who's not accounted for is that quarterback you see everybody really marked up on your screen left side of your screen everybody's playing manto man defense linebacker oh just overflew a little bit to the left set here offensively for the Chargers they got the Big Fellas out of there now Dallas can really go down to their base defense and match up third and goal looking let Ball B it down Buddy Johnson
