tonight at 5:00 with the city of aora cleaning up yet another seemingly rundown apartment complex this after several issues with both code violations and crime there keeps happening Fox 31's vente ranis joining us now from kfax and Chambers in East aor where he's just taking a look at this troubled complex how's it look viente we went by there just a few hours ago after learning about it from the city of Aurora this afternoon when we went by we found trash bands trash bins full of trash we also found mattresses this is one of three apartment complexes the city of Aurora is now cleaning up the latest complex to be slated for cleanup is a Whispering Pines Apartment Complex in the 1300 block of Helena Street in Aurora the city of Aurora now says cleanup Crews will make their way here after picking up this trash pile at another complex at Dallas and 12 a wild shootout took place at the edge at Lowry apartment Sunday night leaving one person seriously hurt and just last week the city of Aurora shut down the Fitz Simmons complex after a number of code violations there meantime the police department has announced that a task force has been set up to investigate Venezuelan gang activity but APD did not say if that gang was involved with any of the crime at any of the troubled apartment complexes however council member Danielle jinsky told us today she strongly believes there is organized crime at the complexes in question I have several residents telling me that um there's a huge gang presence um and and they believe that their own complex has been taken over by these gangs two residents told Fox 31 the same thing as we toured one of the complexes yesterday a law enforcement expert told Fox 31 today proving that gang activity exists can be extremely difficult because they're undocumented it's going to be harder to identify them um and I at this point they don't really care because they don't have IDs that expert also telling us that these gangs will try to make money off of things like drugs and other things we also talked to the city of Aurora today and they're telling us that this apartment complex one of the three will be cleaned up on Thursday and the investigation into code violations continues reporting live in East Aurora viente Adas Fox 31 all right viente thank you
