Rams Offensive Line Depth is absolutely LOADED now

it's been a fun preseason for the Rams and especially if you are an offensive line fan you love watching good offensive line play you normally don't get that in preseason but the Rams have surprisingly had a lot of it we're going to get into exactly why I'm so thrilled about this offensive line a week after I was already thrilled about it uh why nothing has changed and actually it has uh this offensive line has really impressed me I don't think that is a shock to anybody I've talked about them at nauseum at this point so um look from left to right AJ R curri rury started uh Zach Thomas started again at left guard Bo limmer started at Center Logan brush started at Right Guard and Warren mclenon Jr started at right tackle against this Chargers team and a lot of what people were saying last week to kind of discredit this not necessarily Rams Fans but some of them uh was oh yeah you know the Cowboys pass rush isn't good well I don't really care um I I don't care about the pass rush or anything I want to know you know because I've seen bad pass rush and them just dominate the Rams offensive line because it just wasn't good at all in preseason this offensive line we're going to go through because of PFF I told you I was waiting to see the snap counts all of that um PFF is not the Bible again I always have to preface that but they are very reliable when it comes to offensive line grades and I would say most defensive grades I think wide receiver stuff unless you're going with blocking I don't really look at that too much uh running like you know a running back I I don't know sometimes they can be okay big time throws and turnover worthy plays that's what I focus on when it comes to quarterbacks and tight ends as well with their blocking and what have you but the offensive line matters and uh looking from left to right AJ Riri is the 34th overall offensive lineman at Cory in PFF in the preseason I want to take you through the you know kind of history of AJ Riri with the Rams in 2022 preseason he had seven pressures one sack and 111 snaps in 2023 he had one pressure zero sacks in 64 snaps and this year he has two pressures and zero sacks in 117 so it's a career high preseason uh number for him I think he's done a stellar job uh he's the weaker link of the five but I still think he's a very solid player who could very well make this 53 man roster it's going to be very telling does he start week three next week against the Texans uh if he does then you know that would have to imagine that his roster spot is very much on the fence there uh but if he doesn't start then I'd have to imagine that he's made the team I think he's done a really nice job it depends on how they look at this but they've really relied on him uh early and often at left tackle so that's a big deal at left guard Zack Thomas has been a model of consistency the last two games uh he was really really good um you know last week but I think this week he was even better he and I want to make this clear Zach Thomas played tackle I'm well aware of this and I know a lot of people always go back to the Bengals game but Zach Thomas is a guard in my opinion and we're seeing that uh full force you know in 2022 he had three pressures one sack and 77 snaps he had one pressure zero sacks and 85 snaps in 2023 and in 2024 according to PFF Z pressure zero sacks 78 snaps so he's getting up there for uh career high preseason snaps and he's gotten better and better very similar to rury he's gotten better okay um Ryan Wendell hats off to him he's done an incredible job and of course Mike munack helping him and just everybody on that offensive line uh in that offensive line room that's helping coach whether that's Zach chromer any assistants they've all done a great job Thomas is the number two overall offensive line according to PFF now when I say number two or number 34 like I mentioned with ouri I want you to know that I'm talking about every single position on the offensive line tackle guard and Center okay that's everybody uh everyone in preseason and you have to have at least 55 snaps played to be considered because I didn't want to just have yeah he's number two but the guy ahead of him has only played One Snap no anyone that is qualified so this is a big big deal Zack Thomas has been one of the best in preseason regardless of position on the offensive line our's been pretty solid almost 32nd you know almost in the top 32 which you know that's really good you know you talk about one player you know everybody has their one left guard or their one Center there's 32 of those so the fact that he's 34th out of all offensive lineman is impressive but Zach Thomas has been above and beyond and he's a I'm going to say it right now he's gotten better every year he is an absolute lock to make this team there's no doubt about it in my mind if he misses this team I will be absolutely shocked um just a no-brainer and I don't think he should play the next game uh personally uh Center Bo limmer is number 13th overall among offensive linemen per PFF that's a huge deal 94 snaps as a rookie zero pressure zero sacks not bad being thrown in the fire he has looked really good does not look like a rookie at all uh looks like a two three even fouryear uh pro at this point you know he just really looks like really confident and comfortable and I'm glad because he got banged up the last game came back this one looked really good so nothing to worry about there Logan brush the Right Guard who a lot of people had already assumed that was a bust and I get it his 2022 season five pressures two sacks and only 63 snaps 2023 five pressures one sack and 102 snaps snaps and this year he has one pressure zero sacks and 121 snaps so a career high for him in the preseason and he has just been Stellar uh gave up his first pressure this week not going to be the end of the world there number three overall offensive lineman per PFF um that's just the reality of it is that he has just been so good just like Zach Thomas there's been a lot to like when it comes to this Rams offensive line and this is just pass protection we'll get to the un blocking and everything but just really impressed and I would say that Logan bruss I would say Bo limmer Zack Thomas those three are locks to be on this 53 man roster but last but not least Warren McLendon Jr the right tackle number 18th overall offensive lineman per PFF uh in 2023 he had an abysmal 2023 eight pressures one sack and2 snaps this year he's come back 78 snaps didn't play as many in game two which you know leads me to believe he's very well locked up and he will be on this 53 man roster but he has zero pressures and zero sacks um he's been you know really just locked in um you know like I mention he played fewer snaps this week but I don't think he's going to play week three and that's a good thing for Warren mclenon Jr now the starting preseason offensive line in total gave up three pressures and zero sacks in the last two games which is really good uh two of those were Riri and one of those was Logan bruss this past week Conor mcder left tackle and right tackle has given only up one pressure in 41 snaps so good presence from him Justin dedic I have to point him out uh out of UC USC uh the udfa he is quietly performed extremely well um now keep in mind Lon games he's not playing around all the starters so to speak and you know I also say this I and I think people want to use it against him like okay yeah he's going up against the guys that aren't going to make the team late in games and that might be true but he's also playing alongside guys that aren't going to make the team so it's not like he has an easy uh you know nothing he's doing is easy playing with a bunch of guys on the offens line who aren't going to make the team uh it's hard and dedit in 47 snaps hasn't given up a pressure or a sack uh so great stuff there at left guard but the Run blocking here just want to put this out there Bo limmer is sixth overall among all offensive lineman Logan bruss is eighth Zack Thomas is 14th ariri is 29th and Warren McClendon Jr is 36th so what do you take away from this well I think four out of the five guys are locks if they want to keep AJ rury over a guy like Conor mcder I have no issue with it I I think this is somebody that is getting the Reps they have draft Capital with him Conor mcdermit was available so he could be available again they could just kind of keep him on speed dial um but the reality is that they have done a really nice job at developing these young offensive linemen and it is a reminder that you go back you look at ariri giving up seven pressures in 2022 to now where he's only giv up two and no sacks or you want to go back and look at Logan bruss giving up 10 pressures and uh you know a total of those two seasons his first two seasons and three sacks and now he hasn't given up a sack and only one pressure or you want to look at Warren McLendon Jr going from eight pressures given up in a sack his first year to zero pressures and zero sacks it is a stark reminder that offensive line takes time guys are not going to just immediately show up right away and do what they do it's why Bo limmer is really opening up some eyes because normally you don't see that just a guy that's able to you know have that ownership of the offense be that Center and be confident in that role I think it it really is a testament to the Rams coaching staff it's a test to the uh the guys ahead of these guys and I do think ultimately while it sucks that these guys have gone down you know talking about to Jonah Jackson Aller Jackson Rob havenstein dealing with injuries KT leveston these other guys have stepped up now obviously leveston was a rookie but looking at you know bruss and McLendon and limmer and Thomas and ariri they have played so many snaps and gotten valuable very very valuable uh reps in game and in of course you know those joint practices and uh the scrimmages that they've been able to apply that and I think they're much better because of it I think the Rams I've said it before I'll say it again I know the injuries are a concern but this is the best depth for the Rams offensive line that I can even remember so right now still dominant um I'm still very excited about this unit I think you should be as well um it's not to say that you know when they do face you know team competition and these guys are thrown in the fire week one or whatever if it happened that they would just magically be as good as they are now but seeing this it's a good idea gives you kind of the barometer there set that these guys can definitely play at a decent enough level uh to be on a 53 man roster and be considered quality depth and that is really all you're looking for with these guys they've done an excellent job they deserve praise we'll see if they play in the Texans game I would imagine mclenon Jr doesn't um and you probably won't see you know Zack Thomas or bruss maybe limmer does cuz he's not going to start he is a rookie but we'll see anyway point being Rams have a lot that you can take away from the first two preseason games and I think the big tell all is that the offensive line looks better than they've ever looked in preseason and that should make people very very excited and if you're not a Rams fan or you are part of another team it should make you a little worried because the big thing going into to every year with the Rams is if anyone goes down can do
