ability now to pour into the offensive side and get to know the players and the relationships and and DQ creates an environment that he wants you to be yourself and um make it fun for the players and that is right down my alley I just feel like uh it's where I'm supposed to be yeah what's going on Washington commanders Nation with the third week of training camp almost in the books for the Washington commanders and Washington headed up for joint practices down in South Beach with the Miami Dolphins Washington is getting more love and praise from the national media and we get to hear from Cliff Kingsbury a guy who's had his head down and done nothing but grinded and been locked in since he's been our offensive coordinator he touched base with Diana Rini formerly of ESPN now of the athletic he talked about how he's re-energized to be in Washington and everything you need to know about quarterback Jon Daniels this is rambling with Rio Robinson let's get to it [Music] [Applause] this video is brought to you by bet us Sportsbook and casino all right what's going on Washington commanders Nation it is Wednesday August 14th we are a day before Washington commanders Miami Dolphins joint practice takes place down in South Beach it might be a little rainy it's gonna be hella humid humidity is going to stack up but Albert Breer formerly of the NFL Network the Boston Globe now who writes the blog for Monday Morning Quarterback for the Sports Illustrated magazine he spent his 18th training camp tour of the season in Washington well in Ashburn watching the Washington Commander practice and he had a lot of information and a lot of observations he wanted to point out in this week's Monday Morning Quarterback article so I'm going to be going through a lot of what Albert Breer had to say over the years Washington has gotten no love deservedly so for how it's handled its organization everything from top to bottom Dan Snider's Washington was not the place to be they all loved Ron Rivera they didn't never wanted to speak too down on him but they could see the writing on the wall from the guy very early it is a new day here in Washington and boy does he heat Praise on Jadon Daniels Dan Quinn and the new look Washington commanders let's get to it he said the number one pick I the number two pick in the NFL draft is proving dayto day why he's ready for the NFL plus how the running backs and offensive line and aiding are aiding his development so far let's get to it Albert breer's article first paragraph it is hard to take two steps in this place without hearing from someone how impressed they've been with the quarterback Jaden Daniels one thing that's very consistent is what you hear about how he conducts himself from day to day in short they see a guy who entered the NFL as a professional and just about every way and that's what you expect to hear from a 24 year or soon to be 24 year old quarterback a quarterback who started five years in college who's seen failure at one program and Ascension at another when you start 55 games in college you're not expecting to get a kid wet behind the ears when they come in you're expecting a guy who's coming in ready to be a professional football player ready to learn and ready to spread influence throughout the locker room he's checked every box so far uh Breer says at the practice that he saw Tuesday it backed all of that up he included how smoothly Jaden operated the first team how calm he looks in the pocket and the easy gas and accuracy he has on his throat Jaden checks all those boxes it's not just him running around it's where he is as a passer and Cliff mentioned it in his interview with Dianna Rini on scoop City that we're going to talk about after we go through this uh Albert Breer passage but the coaches have also been impressed with how quickly he's picked up Cliff Kings Berry's offense he speaks the language fluently already he knows it he knows when to check in and out of things one example is how fast he's able to get to run checks within it whe whether they do it tomorrow or in two weeks that staff is going to name him the starting quarterback we all know it's coming we all know it's a formality we all know there was never a real competition here and if there was one Jaden won with flying colors without any objection from anybody in the organization including the locker room the staff or the front office the biggest challenge I think for the staff Brier says we'll be working with him to avoid taking big hits on his slender frame without taking away what he brings to the table in the Run game something that's easy on paper but tough to put in practice I saw Breer made an appearance after this article came out on the Rich Eisen show and he was like just in case anyone hasn't seen it look up Jon Daniels and Looney Tunes on X on the Twitter app and it's Jon D you know the video we're talking about all the crazy hits jayton took in college last year where they said he's getting knocked around like a Looney Tunes character that's what he's saying he said that's the hardest challenge is figuring out how to make him know when to call it a day when to see the next play Keep On on your journey that's what he says is the hardest challenge with Jaden right now Jaden will figure it out just like in Chicago they got J they got Caleb learning how to slide on a freaking slipping slide we will be all right with Jaden Daniels man he's just gonna have to learn that this is the NFL and Jaden definitely looks a little more compact robust and girthier than expected coming in nasty words I know it is what it is one thing Breer says that'll help with Jaden's development is what the commanders get from their backs in the Run game Ryan Robinson has been a load for the defense in Camp and Dan Quinn had a feel for that having coached against him because he was in Dallas the last few years what's been a bit of surprise is that he's shown catching the ball out of the back field we could see that last year in EB's offense Brian Robinson was catching the ball a lot more than expected which brings me to the BET us Sports booking Casino odds on Brian Robinson Jr two of the easiest overs you are ever going to see on a betting website this is your starting Mainline running back he cleared these with ease last season in a messed up system they have Brian Robinson coming in right now at 275 and a half receiving yards and four and a half rushing touchdown easy overs both of them so you're gonna make sure you hop over to bet us Sports C Sports booking Casino take advantage of the industry's fastest payouts and 125% match bonus for your first three deposits of up to $2,000 and bet the over on Brian Robinson receiving yards rushing touchdowns I don't know what the rushing yard stat is you're going to smash the over on that as well because Cliff kingsbery is not here here just to throw the ball every play there's going to be good balance in this system and Brian Robinson is the head honcho in that running back room hop over to bet us Sports booking casino but back to Albert breer's messaging it's not a surprise to us here but then you pair him with um Austin Eckler who Breer says still has juice and still should be a souped up version of what Chase Edmonds was for Cliff Kingsbury during his time in Arizona Edmonds had 96 catches in 28 games over the past two years he spent with cliff kingsberry in Arizona he said the hope is that the strength of the offense is here and that the rebuilt interior of the o line with Nick Alig Tyler botes and Sam cosmi will give the team a foundation in which to manage and protect Daniels you notice he didn't talk about the exterior of the line I mean he didn't get to see Brandon Coleman practice who's come in and took the left tackle job by the horn since he got here and Andrew wy's just getting back to practice but I love that the practice where the national media guy comes in to do a blurb on the team Jaden has his sharpest practice I mean Zach Selby said this guy threw one incompletion at practice yesterday so that's a beautiful day for a national guy coming to cover the team to be out there love it um Breer says Quinn's fingerprints are all over the team's practices and competition is incorporated with everything even the agility drills bag drill drills and what's really powered is that the buyin he's gotten from veterans he said John Allen who definitely as fans we can contest we can attest to has been a Mal content the last few years which he says understandably has been a torch Bearer for Quinn's new program so John Allen cosmi brra Don Payne and Terry McClaren and obviously because he spent time with him before Bobby Wagner they've been right there with Quinn and on the other side of the coin the entire rookie class is fighting for jobs immediately second rounder Mikey Sanders steill has shown Inside Out versatility we know this we know what he does on the inside in an emergency and a pinch and when they want to mix it up they can put Mikey Sanders still on the outside because he's one of the more or probably the most instinctive quarterback we have on the roster right now he said Mikey's pushed to play offense I seen people on Twitter run to go overreact to that we've already heard the reports that Mikey SEL has told Jaden and Cliff kingsbery if need me on the offensive side let's go we know he was a wide receiver before converted to a cornerback at Michigan so it would be no strange thing if he hopped out there to run a route but I don't think they plan to have any Travis Hunter type situation going on here with uh Mikey Sandra still third rounder Brandon Coleman he's trending towards starting at left tackle but with his injury situation it's very fluid right now we may not see Brandon Coleman until week one of the season and do you want to start a rookie left tackle who's never seen the game speed from a joint practice or preseason game for the first time just seeing an NFL pass rush I'm not sure you want to do that but if he's truly ready to go maybe they feel like they don't need to see him in the preseason fifth rounder Dominique Hampton who was a safety at Washington is adjusting nicely to linebacker didn't know that haven't heard his name too much over the offseason so it's nice to get an update on him undrafted free agent that we're all talking about and gushing over right now Tyler Owens a long rangy free safety looks like he'll make the team and play on special teams and have a future on defense we all see that right now number 40 is flashing everywhere all over the field but where he's going to make his bones early in his career is as a gunner on the punt team special teams is where you earn your bones in this league when you're trying to earn a roster and you're trying to maintain staying on an NFL roster but Bri says put it all together and it's made for a good I'll use this word again competitive put it in all caps Camp competitive that's why nobody that Ron drafted or signed is just handed or given a starting job guys have to go out there and earn their keep in the lead that's why it shouldn't be any surprise to anybody that a Jan doson a Jamon Davis and guys that were brought in here before this regime got here have to go out there and earn their keep I love it make everybody go earn their they make the quarterback earn his keep everybody on the roster has to fight for a spot the defensive acquisition that stood out for Albert Breer and for all of us alike is Frankie louu linebacker slash Edge rusher Frankie louu he's not Micah Parsons but Dan Quinn signed him with the idea that he could be a movable piece in the front seven the way Parsons was for him in Dallas and louu looks capable as such he says he has quick explosive and clearly at his best moving towards the line of scrimmage Jeremy Chin's another piece but Frankie louu we already know the Vibes of Frankie louu we expect 100 plus tackles from the guy and three to five or more sacks from the guy they're going to move him all over the board we can call him Costco brand michah Parsons call him whatever you want to call him I'm going to call him a significant upgrade at the linebacker position because Lord knows we need it and with that there's this Bri says it's still year one and there's a lot of work to do on the roster but Washington should feel really good that they're at the middle of the field like how much they've upgraded at the middle of the field they know they've got a little further to go in the perimeter on the outside the receiver spot is good to be determined after Terry but at offensive tackle defensive end and corner there remains questions it'll probably take another offseason or two to saw fans you hear that it'll probably take another offseason or two to saw we're not going to figure out everything off rip We're Not Gonna figure out everything in one off season there's still time to figure things out but until then Breer says Dan Quinn and new GM Adam Peters are trying to get the most out of Camp competitions at these spots between the guys that they have on hand what a good ringing endorsement for what Washington is building and putting together here in Ashburn right now you love to hear it because every article that's come out from the Monday Morning Quarterback from The Washington Post from the athletic from this from that it's been negative over the years but speaking of the athletic someone we know very well in Washington Diana Rini used to be on the Washington beat for NBC Washington then she worked her way up to East ESPN and now she works for the athletic and has her own podcast with Chase Daniel former NFL longtime backup quarterback Chase Daniel called scoop City and they had an exclusive interview with cliff kingsburry on scoop City and Cliff just talks about and gushes over the way he feels re-energized working for Dan Quinn and the Washington commanders Zack ER says this is the happiest he's ever seen Cliff as a coach because let's call it what but it is Cliff kingsberry just wants to coach offense he just wants to coach quarterbacks he just wants to check in and watch film and check out after getting a game plan together he doesn't want to check on every single room and that's why I think this is the perfect gig for him I'm not sure Cliff kingsberry has aspirations at another trial and error run at being an NFL head coach when she asked them about how he's so effective getting through to in developing young quarterbacks first things first he says I mean I'm lucky to have been in situations with all the guys have coached the mahomes's of the world the baker Mayfields the Kyler Murray's the now Jaden Daniels Patrick momes at Texas Tech he says I'm lucky to have been around the guys that I've been around I've been around special guys that take to and take heed to and adhere to the coaching he just says he feels like an inner a re-energized guy and she asked him about Jaden Daniels and she asked him what his favorite quality about Jaden Daniel so far as a Young quarterback and he says it's his ability to process and get through all the reads he's a he he's able to get through all the progressions in the reads of a play he's learned the offense immediately and he told Diana you would think that he's this quiet shy kid but he talks as much trash as anybody to the team especially the veterans he says uh jadon's comp like jadon's uber competitive he said he wants to win every drill he wants to win every rep and he's not afraid to let the veterans know it's why the locker room is already enamored and in love with the guy the guy of Jadon Daniels the player they know what he's capable of Zack s already told you it's not potential or he's going to be good he's good already uh Cliff Kingsbury talk about more of that here he talked about being a for just turning 45 year old coach he said I feel 28 like I'm 28 for life like I'll never be older than 28 but he's a 45 year old coach right now how it's been such a good experience working for Dan Quinn because Dan Quinn allows coaches and players to be their true natural selves they do not have to conform or morph themselves into a certain type of person or character to coach or play Under Dan Quinn and he's excited he talks about how he wants to shift this off like how's this offense um progressed over the years how's he able to reinvent his system and he talks about what he wants to do with the Run game with Austin Eckler and Brian Robinson we're gonna get those guys the ball in a multitude of ways but Cliff sounds happy here like he said he needed that break he needed to take that one Ray trip to Thailand and he needed to go spend a year around college kids in USC I'm very excited and I'm very happy that Cliff kingsberry chose this job over the Raiders job because that looks like such the right call right now Cliff kingsbery with his demeanor such a cool calm Collective Playboy Bachelor type guy what does he look like coaching a quarterback room of Gardner menu in Aiden okono that [ __ ] would look crazy in the light I know Sin City might have been a good time for Cliff but yeah come on down to the east coast you haven't even heard much from this guy since he's been here he's looking for no attention the boy is locked the hell in and this is really the H first we've heard from cliff kingsbery in quite some time he's re-energized to be in Washington he's W he's ready to go and he absolutely loves his quarterback he said him and Jaden text on a regular basis he said Jaden is very open Jaden is not afraid to suggest things he said Jaden was texting him multiple times about going deep on the first play of the preseason he had to tell Jaden yeah no we're not doing that we're we're not going deep on we're not opening you up for that on the first play of the preseason and what did we see happen on Saturday in Washington's preseason opener a couple plays in our first third down of the preseason he checks from a screen to a deep ball up the sideline to wide receiver dami Brown for a beautiful 42 yard bomb that fell right in his Bread Basket you love to see it they're starting to love us again the tide is turning y'all we're slowly becoming media Darlings just wait till we get hard knocks next off season because I'm watching Bears Hard Knocks right now and it feels almost impossible to come out of such a good great production of a show and just not be beloved afterwards but Washington is slowly getting back into the good graces of the national media we heard from the OC we heard from Albert Breer about everything positive going on in Washington we head down to Miami tomorrow for joint practices with the Miami Dolphins in preseason week number two at Miami Saturday night 7 PM let's get it I'm excited to see another week of Jon Daniels hopefully
