yeah we got stuck in that not so good yes we did all right now to our top story tonight the owners of Utah's new NHL team broke around on a new training facility this morning the facility is going in at the old Macy's building at the shops at Southtown Mall team owners the Smith Entertainment Group just bought them allall news specialist Lindsay ER joins us live from there now and Lindsay do they know what's what happening with the rest of the mall well Deanie some stores here got a letter basically telling them that nothing will change with the shops at Southtown here and the stores inside that mall uh this mall rather that letter also telling them that the new hockey facility here shouldn't change day-to-day operations for these stores now the manager at Bliss this is a formal dress shop right next door to this now empty Macy's showed us that letter and it does say though that construction could impact certain areas of the mall but they would provide updates on that soon now two store managers we spoke with who both have stores right inside the mall say they're both excited and cautiously optimistic I'm super excited if everything is as they stated that nothing will change our business will be not affected whatsoever then it will bring new opportunities to us hopefully with their headquarters being here they're going to have people coming from out of state all the time um the wreck leagues tons of people go to those to watch watch them and to play and so yeah it's just going to bring a lot lot more clientele in now that was the manager at eborn books who says he talked to owner Ryan Smith this morning at the groundbreaking who said to him that yeah this will bring a lot more business now the Smith group says their plans are to add to this mall not take away from it now that letter also telling Mall patrons here that the mall will remain open during construction you can see behind me guys this is just a black curtain now but this is where this new hockey facility is going to go and out that way for now reporting at Southtown I'm Lindsay I'll send it back to you yeah just some exciting news there and no doubt it's going to bring some more people to that area which is much needed all right Lindsay Thank you new tonight the Utah unes the new Utah Hockey Club has a new home they broke ground on their new practice facility at the shops in Southtown today but what happens to the rest of the stores I'll tell you what we know Straight Ahead am well the Southtown Mall will have a new tenant pretty soon Utah's new NHL team broke ground on their practice facility this morning so what's happening with the rest of the mall well here are with details is the new specialist lindsy IDs Lindsay is anything going to close yeah deie uh we don't believe so at least we don't know of any stores to close at this point and in fact some stores here at the mall got a letter saying that this mall is remaining open and that they don't expect that day-to-day operations will change despite the sale of this mall to the Smith Entertainment Group and Ryan and Ashley Smith now the still some store owners are cautiously optimistic about the plans to build the new NHL teams practice facilities here the manager at Bliss a formal dress shop right next door to the now empty Macy's in the mall hopes it will bring more business while their neighbor eborn books says they only see potential we're excited um you know we're right next to them and they're going to bring a lot of traffic in I talked to Ryan Smith and introduced myself and that's what he said I'm hoping that their word is true that everything will remain the same as what they said so fingers crossed that's going to be the case now the Smith group says their plans are to add to the mall not take away from it they do plan to have the hockey Rings open by October of next year just in time for hockey season now one more note from this letter that the stores received they say that construction shouldn't impact the mall as far as it being open but that it could have some impact on different areas of the mall reporting at the shops at Southtown for KSL 5 news I'm Lindsay it's back to you all right exciting prospects Lindsay thanks when we come back
