member of the Lions 1957 championship team he was 92 uh his family uh did not uh did not disclose any cause of death but at that age I'm assuming it was natural causes uh like I said I I think he was the last surviving member of that 1957 championship team um anyway uh before we get on to that and uh I did had to do a little research on him and his career and everything else uh I'll tell you this that the Tigers lost today to the Rockies in spite of the fact that ter scubba uh was pitching he did well uh one one run through six Innings I don't I don't know if he was on a pitch count or not could they have gotten a couple of more Innings out of him I I don't know but when he left they had a two two to one lead they only had four hits uh it was a uh huge blow to any playoff aspirations they would have because now there you are three and a half games behind Minnesota with 15 games left I think the next six games against six with Baltimore three more with Kansas City I think will decide their fate before they come home for final home stand three with Tampa three with the white socks hang on just a second here anyway they don't even have a starting pitcher listed for the first two games against the Orioles I think ker Montero is starting on Sunday uh and I believe scoble has two more starts maybe U maybe one in Kansas City and then another one here uh he may not Pitch at all against Baltimore uh the the way they're handling him now he's he's not a pitch count I think maybe one more start in Kansas City and one against Tampa when they get back here he's probably only got two more starts left in him uh look what are they now they're 75 and 72 through 10 what 147 games with 15 left to go I think I think it'd be a better in their Camp if they just in these last 15 just went seven and eight or eight and seven and they finish with 82 or 83 wins winning record I think that would be given everything that's G on I think that'd be a huge accomplishment for them but they're not going to make the playoffs this is not a playoff caliber team it just isn't uh they don't have a bullpen um players are young and inexperienced look look the last three games let's see when they score 11 and nine and seven the last three games they scored 27 runs that's an average of nine per game and then to to they come out with four hits ah anyway that was a crushing defeat today you had to as I told a few other people uh to have any chance you had to take advantage of a very bad Colorado team and sweep all three games they didn't do it oh the deck was stacked and the Ys were against them even before the game today and now it's almost insurmountable but they still got a Sha of finishing with a winning record uh like I said given everything that's transpired for them I think that'd be an accomplishment uh let's get to let's get this out of the way too uh don't forget today is Thursday two days from now September the 14th at Frank be shet on m99 between Hill and Jonesville will be their Ninth Annual salute to First Responders uh this year there will be a special tribute to the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Department ready for all the right reasons bring the okay Michigan has the Arkansas state Saturday uh I think they're favorite like uh three touchdowns uh again again I I don't bet but if I were betting I'd take Arkansas State and take those points uh Michigan state is playing Prairie View at Spartan Stadium that's right Prairie View uh and they are favored the last time I looked by 40 and a half points and that's uh that that's almost six touchdowns I mean they have to be ATT track me for Michigan State I know they the quarterback it looked good kudos to him uh their young wide receiver congratulations to him I think I told you Tuesday he was voted the Big 10 player of the week hey can they roll up 40 or 50 points on them I don't know that's why I don't bet anyway uh a couple of news and notes that I wanted to run by you too uh uh Malik Willis as you know uh Jordan love uh will be out for the next three or four or five weeks uh so Malik Willis has been named the Packers starting quarterback uh look at it their schedule is really not not that tough but I malis I don't know about that one anyway U the Bears rookie wide receiver on a Washington ratun as a sprayed MCL I think they didn't put him on the pck list or the injured reserve but he he's weak to week with that uh by the way too did you after after the first week of NFL games uh what do you think about that new kickoff forall uh I don't think that's going to make much of a difference I most of the time I still see teams kicking the ball out of the end zone but the opposition taking it at 30 yard line and I think pretty much I think the majority of times that's what you're going to see I I don't know who came up with this new rule but uh like I said it was designed to put a little more excitement into the game and prevent injuries I can understand preventing injuries anytime they gets kicked into the end zone I think that's what's going to happen but they're going to have to amend that rule next year ball gets kicked into the end zone if you really want to stop that you get the ball at the 40 yard line then let's see how many balls are kicked into the end zone that'll put a stop to that I guarantee you if you want to see more kickoffs you you got to amend that kickoff rule uh in my humble opinion uh Lon prce Ice uh I did not see Dan Campbell's press conference today yesterday we haven't heard anything about injuries all I could tell you yesterday uh P Marcus Davenport uh iffy mfon W uh did not practice we haven't heard anything about them I did not get an up update before I came on to talk to you folks it doesn't appear to be anything serious uh also I wanted to uh pass on by the way the tigers are tigers the lions are uh seven point favorites over uh the bucks on Sunday the Bucks were they banged up secondary but uh good old ESPN that Disney and ABC and all their leftist ways are making that their upset game of the week uh they are predicting that the Bucks will be the folks that's why I don't I've already told you in the past I have no use for ESPN I don't watch them the only the only reason I do watch them is for uh Monday Night Football and and that's about it uh I have no use for any of their on air personalities uh self-centered egotistical I I'm not uh I've had it up to here with ESPN I'm sorry uh especially what I saw from ABC the other night that was disgraceful I gotta go there you know what I'm talking about too uh Lucas Raymond's agent uh said today uh the Red Wings go to training camp next week in travor City he expects to have something done between now and then as far as a contract uh extension goes for Lucas Raymond nothing about mider but this was coming from Lucas Raymond's agent as I said the wings are prepared to go they start the training camp next week in travor City his agent said today earlier today he expects to have something done uh by or before they get to training camp uh week one NFL observations uh well I I don't know uh as far as as far as upsets or Cincinnati Bengals were upset by the uh New England Patriots and there's something about Joe burrow uh just doesn't look like he might still be dealing with a a wrist issue there uh this could be this could be if that's any indication this could be a long season for the Cincinnati Bengals uh and I told you earlier in the week too on Tuesday DJ reader will be making his Lions debut on Sunday but uh I'm really excited about what I saw from uh Marcus stport I think he's the perfect compliment to to Aiden Hutchinson uh before I forget too uh you know if it had been anybody else but Matthew Stafford I think the alliance would have had six or seven sacks in that game he got rid of the ball so quickly and here's an amazing stat for you too um Cooper cup had 21 targets 21 targets well I with uh pukan AA and Tyler Higby both out who who else he going to throw to 21 targets for 114 yards which tells me that uh he didn't really have a whole lot of gains for big yardage the one catch he made on the sidelines was absolutely I couldn't see any way that he stayed in bounds initially I thought it was an optical illusion until we saw the replay he dragged the back foot somehow got both feet in bounds that was just a spectacular catch by a great player look the Rams are a good team they're banged up offensive offensive line pukan AA is going to be on for a while I think Matt Stafford is tough but the lines put a pretty good beating on him uh I still think they'll make the playoffs but uh the Rams are good team but this game against Tampa Bay by the way is not going to be easy Baker Mayfield had a very good day last week he's got two very good receivers that he throws to uh I expect the Lions to be putting more pressure on him or get to him for more snacks than than they did last Sunday uh I think I something that came to my attention too uh after the first week of NFL games uh the average passing yards per game for teams per game was 188 yards 188 passing yards per game for team in the first week def in the NFL and uh that is the fewest since uh week 15 of the 2007 season when it was 181.000 Lions uh I expect uh both Al R st Brown and Sam lorta to catch more balls than they did Sunday I expect them to keep running the ball successfully uh this won't be an easy game Des spite of the fact that they're favored by seven that could go up before the start of the game on Sunday but uh I think they'll win I think the Bucks will cover the spread I see another very close game I think they'll find some way to get this done Sunday it' be another rockus crowd uh by the way Kevin cougler Fox's Kevin cougler and Daryl Johnson will be doing the game on Sunday here locally if you're wondering about uh Kevin burkard and Tom Brady apparently they're doing the Saints Cowboy game I haven't heard any reviews on Brady's first game yet so I'm sure sooner or later we will be graced by his presence uh doing a lion game uh okay that's about it uh my next broadcast will be up
