good evening I'm Jesse Williams and you're watching blitz news tonight we bring you urgent news as a toxic gas cloud makes its way across the UK prompting a stay inside alert for Millions experts have identified the source of this dangerous cloud of volcanic eruption near grindvik Iceland that occurred last Thursday this eruption released a significant amount of sulfur dioxide SO2 into the atmosphere which has since traveled across the North Atlantic reaching the UK over the weekend the Met Office has been closely tracking the movement of this Cloud early Monday morning the toxic gas was first detected in the Scottish Highlands it is now forecasted to continue its Journey Southward with the Midlands expected to be affected by early tomorrow morning by m the cloud is predicted to reach Southern England before finally dispersing by Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. sulfur dioxide is a colorless but pungent gas commonly produced by burning fossil fuels but also released during volcanic eruptions exposure to so too can be harmful especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly young children and those with respiratory conditions like asthma health officials are advising people in affected areas to minimize exposure by staying indoors where possible symptoms of so to two inhalation can include a sore throat coughing burning eyes and difficulty breathing even low concentrations of this gas can trigger asthma attacks and other respiratory issues while the Met Office reassures that air pollution levels remain generally low across the UK today the situation remains fluid and we will continue to monitor it closely for now please stay safe follow the latest health advice and keep it here blitz news for further updates I'm Jesse Williams good night
