was led by the original Maverick Al Davis all right guys let's get into the quarterbacks will will get Garder mchu Lincoln going early on no Devonte no Brock Bowers here no Colt Miller no Jackson poers Johnson still so Gardner's going to have to make it happen if he wants to secure the starting position well what he does has he still has a number of weapons we know how deep that wide receiver room is we know how deep that running back room is if this offensive line can muster enough push to get that running game going it'll be a quarterback's best friend so both quarterbacks need to focus on what they need to focus on don't turn the ball over don't have critical mistakes and Final way to win the starting job who's going to start fast what quarterback is going to get in you're going to see the lineman kind of Pep up because he's in the Huddle he's in control of the Huddle he's playing with confidence and those situations that we all look for as far as two-minute drill getting out of difficult situations uh the the the play clock all those things are going to go into who's going to make the the the start in 2024 it's a big deal look the waiters always have a quarterback they've time the coverage will have an advantage here unless someone breaks it big and that's the thing the most difficult part for the kickoff cover kickoff receiving team is sustaining those blocks the amount of time it takes the ball carry to catch the football and get to where their blocks have started you're going to have a lot of penalties this year you're going to have a lot of people trying to be creative we won't see that creativity in preseason well here comes Gardner menu he's got DJ Turner out there and this is his opportunity if he wants to win this job to have a big first half Here underway Zeus is just a beast linoln and those extra three or four yards when he gets hit and goes forward if you can you imagine being a defensive back or a safety coming up and seeing that grown man and try having to hit him and take him down that's what he that's what he resonates at mayor starts off in motion he sets on the right side as Gardner muu again is going to throw play action he's looking for a deep ball over the middle to jacobe and it's broken up uh thought there was that should that was should have been a contact that was contact on that play early on there was not a flag thrown on the play and jacobe wanted that one Thomas on the coverage for the Dallas Cowboys when you look at him coming down the field trying to get that deep dig route off of play action you want to make sure you have time Gardner menu did a good job waiting as long as he could before he released that rock but I swear there look like some contact back was hit the back we spent some time with EA rushing and having vacant zones because they're going to want you to catch those short passes come up and Tackle but Anon Antonio pce has got such faith in his defense when he gets at this this feel part of the field more times than not he's going to go for it three wide receivers to the left Turner in the slot jacobe next to him and out wide is Trey Tucker Madison in motion here as Gardner is in move the chains here and the Dallas Cowboys will take over late just another you know what I think think that first series as I'm evaluating from up here JT I think he was a little tight there was a little tight with his throws a little bit erring on that last pass has to know that linebacker is sitting in that area if he's not blitzing you can't throw that SL slant route you got to go somewhere else the football right definitely some missed opportunities on that drive there guys I thought they started off early on great run here but you got to find a way to be more consistent no score it but the play action really did him a good favor because play action to Zeus brought the safety up there was no one back on the Deep post B he also had a deep dig route coming across the middle exactly right that's when you run the route the receiver is running you get in front of him on that streak route and Tre Lance wants to take a shot he really doesn't have an open man but he wants to man trade to be able to show what he has so just in case something happens in the long run with Dak he's the kind of guy who can step under Center and be the kind of quarterback that the Dallas counties need to hopefully get them to the next level coming off the edge with the blitz ball broken up by Jack Jones nice play by Jack as EP was was blitzing on that play listen it's time to get Jack half as Lance throws a ball out to the right could have been picked off right there the Raiders had an opportunity to make a play to cameon Richardson EA if he turns around that ball might hit him in the hand for a pick six real close there JT but I tell you what as we see the running game has really affect how the defensive lined up right now so now we have kind of like the I guess we're going to call it the rhinoceros package when you have a man right over the center and you have five defensive linemen that's really going to put a lot of stress on those cornerbacks playing tight coverage on the back end jayon Granton also with linebacker as lances in the shotgun second and 10 drops it across the middle enough for a first down as the Cowboys on that play jakorian Bennett on the tackle here a little pitch and catch out to the tight end and that was an easy throw a really nice catch here overall by Kelvin Harmon for the Cowboys yeah Bennett hadn't got a lot of work right now just barely missed that ball could have been a pbu again really good coverage but you have to find a way to get that ball out there JT Cowboys 13 Raiders 6 1420 to go as Lance throws it out to the left side again and couple of couple of moves out there on the outside I'm not saying that was a picked off ball there but jayon Grant got pretty close to it and it was no one near him yeah their young rookie had great read on that ball was kind of tracking it down it could have been an interception there on the outside well you would know because you got to taste the coaching DBS with the San Diego Fleet with Mike marks back in the day in 2019 yeah we had a great time back then and it's kind of stressful JT not to be on the football field and really rely on these young guys to make plays uh on the football field Cowboys run up the middle Malik Davis so link I want to jump in on a couple of story lines here in the second half here first off the coaching with Marvin Le and Joe philin and some of the experience on this staff overall the big name is Luke gy who comes in but I look at some of the other names and we sat down with Patrick Graham and he gets more and more impressive every year Well when you talk about developing coaches there's no harm in looking at history and guys who have been there and done it before so there's no harm in going back and referring to some of those coaches it's a great asset to have at your disposal Lance on a third and six as he's standing at the 20 yd line of the right of the Cowboys and he's going to come up short here there you nothing there that's a really good run stop there that's kind of what you're looking for and for these backup linemen that's a great chance to make your case to say that if you put me in next to Max next to Wilkerson I can stop the run great Point Ellison Smith there with the stop uh third year Northern Iowa DJ Turner is back deep he's standing at the 21 yard line here and everybody if you're joining us later you took a break there was a record kick just made before halftime well it's not considered a record cuz it's preseason but it ties preas record it ties Tucker's record for 66 Turner back he's coming up to get this around the 29 yd line he's going to start off to his left looking for blocks takes it up the middle and he'll be brought down at about the 43 yd line strong return there strong return for the Raiders here I think overall that's a 48 uh yard punt here the Raiders are going to have an opportunity with Aid no Connell here Lincoln get me through what's going to happen with Aiden Turner who's in the slot as Aiden's looking towards the slot trying to step into a throw across Midfield and it is caught by Harrison Bryant should be enough for a first down it looks like it is that's a third and three they get it out past Midfield that'll move the chains and here's what we see so far it's only been three plays and start this series but Mike Zimmer brought pressure on the second play of the G of the series which force aen ell to get the ball out of the hands you put yourself in a manageable position you got tight man coverage it's a nice pass to Bryant which does a good job after he gets the football getting the first down that's good execution team-wise out of the offense right that's what we seen out of that last series of plays and I agree link and when you seeing Aiden Under Pressure he's not going outside the has or outside the pocket he's getting a more deeper drop and that helps him because he has a stronger arm and he's able to make a really accurate throw there is no Brock Bowers tonight who was not playing along with Devonte Adams and Lincoln we saw this install of the tight ends of Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers I was impressed in Minneapolis without Brock we weren't going to see much with the tight ends tonight overall and without Devonte playing in this game that takes away a big weapon for Aiden oon and Gardner menu who started off the game and there you there's a big thing about that JT Anda that you figure out you form a certain luxury and a comfort when you know you got those guys that are able out to perform but what happens when they're not and this is the game situation remember py okano was in enter in his second year hasn't played a lot of football in the National Football League even though he finished the season as a starter so he's got still a lot of a lot to learn about the other weapons and how to utilize them on the team Zeus in the backfield Aiden under Center they had a virtual measurement there and it was good for the Raiders Aiden wanted to throw deep on this play the pocket breaks down he throws it outside to DJ Turner DJ Turner makes a couple of cowboys Miss and he gets out to about the 33 yd line and up for a first down great delivery with a strong base the Deep route wasn't open he was able to come back down kind of understand where the receivers are going to be and make a really confident throw to the outside and allow his receiver for the second week in a row to make a big play on third down and that's a version of Max protection on that last play that's the reason why he had so much time guys you kept the receiver and the tight end in to help your your your protection only had three receivers going out you've got to find somewhere to go with the ball I think ad to have some help from receivers four wide receivers three out to the left they're going to hand it off to Madison and Madison's going to run off the right side for a four five yd game that was a good strong run finishing forward and again Madison had over maybe 150 carries last year uh with the Minnesota Vikings kind of guy can get it done Raiders going to go quick here as Aiden in the shotgun on Third and two to Aiden's looking left ball comes out and he just throws it away looking for Wilkerson there didn't even get him a give him a chance to make the play length that was an inaccurate throw and if you're going to go hurry up and you're in that situation you put yourself in a position where now it's fourth down more more than likely AP is going to go for it and the offens stays out there Antonio Pierce to make the official announcement but I think this football team now needs to get behind this decision okay this was the entire off season when Gardner muu got signed and a no Connell
