Live Reaction to Ernest Jones Trade

I'm not sure if this is on I'm G to just double check on my YouTube this is my first time going live and I thought it'd be a great idea to do a live on what just happened and what just happened was is the Rams did what I was hoping they wouldn't do and it's it is live that is pretty cool okay well we're going to try our best to we're going to try our best to you know give ourselves some input so obviously you know this is not best case scenario as far as what we wanted the outcome to be for Ernest Jones um I think it obviously you know you see the Rams do this every so often with certain players within our organization um and and you know sometimes they are players who you would hope that you know we want to get a deal done um again you know some players I think about obviously that we've done that for um or at least you know just kind of just got rid of him John Johnson that's guy who was up for a contract we kind of just got rid of him Troy Hill was another player we just kind of got rid of him um you know keep to uh uh Peters I think we ain't done yet well that was done um but you know thinking about Ernest Jones and thinking about you know how this whole thing went down I can only and this is just my own Theory you know I always like to come up I'm a person who when I talk about the Rams I'm always talking what I think would happen I don't like to look at other people's I mean I don't Google and look at and use that information to make my own formulate my own opinions I create I formulate my own opinions based off what I think what could have happened and So based off from what I've you know watched as far as the training camps and um some of the things he was saying as far as a contract um in the beginning of the Season he was open to uh you know waiting to the end of the year and you can go back back and look at it too it's in one of the one of like the training camps uh when we first started out uh the voluntary training camps um and he was open about you know understanding that hey you know it's a it's a deal that you know was already s stone we'll uh get to it when we get to it but he understood that he was going to have to wait till the end of the year to get a deal done and again he was okay with that um you again you can look that up on one of the on the Rams training camps videos um he was okay with that as time progressed obviously what I think had occurred to him uh leading up to this point was the fact that all of our players started getting hurt um obviously got Jonah Jackson going down havenstein puka went down um aldri is out uh we got a lot of players that you know Kiren you know was nursing something but I think it came down to understanding that a lot of the players in our organization were getting hurt and seeing how it's a contract year for him I think he took it upon himself to be like you know what if these guys are all going down and I go down I'm not gonna be able to get the money that I think I deserve as a player Ernest Jones thinking this I want my money now I want my deal I want to get the deal done now before we go into the season um because I want my own security moving forward and obviously the Rams weren't budging on a number that you know they might have thrown out there again I like to think back about history and the way we work as an organization we like to recycle players uh especially if it's a player at a position that we necessarily don't value as much um when it comes to paying players a certain number at that position position obviously middle linebacker to us as an organization isn't really a position that we have normally been willing to pay people obviously you know you see kind of like Troy reader back again that's that's a player who we've had in our Organization for years you know um and we we always see us bringing him back um for some reason he's going to be on maybe he's going to be a started this year again I'm not a big fan of Troy reader um but that's just going back to what I was just talking about how we don't really necessarily prioritize that position as a position of need I guess you would say or as a position that we want to you know invest in um I look back at uh I think it was 2012 when we signed James laurenitis to a $42 million deal over five years which was $8 million a year and you got Alec ogry who was the next like linebacker who we paid at that position he got four years 42 million ion $10 million a year um $10 million a year contract a year money or $10 million a year and now that this is a new era of you know players and all different types of considerations that they take trying to get a bigger deal you have to think about other multiple other variables obviously um he's going to want the most he can possibly get uh I've it's hard it's hard for me to think of a player other than Tom Brady who and you know Patrick Mahomes has done it too where he's taken a pay cut and especially at those positions where you know this might be the only chance where they get that contract extension and and this is might be the only time to really capitalize on that payday um so they really want to try to get the most out of it you have to also think about the agents who you know they also have a role they want to their role is to get the player as much money as they possibly can and understanding that they get a cut get a cut from that as well um I think Ernest Jones wanted a lot more money than I think we all expect uh it'll be very interesting to see what the te the Titans pay him um I'd be very interested to see if it's over 12 million that's probably why um I don't think the Rams would be willing to invest money at a position um especially middle linebacker and understanding how he's played um so let's get into that before we get into like what we can speculate as far as what the price might be Ernest Jones he's a great player I like Ernest Jones I didn't want him to be traded I thought we could find a way to keep him here um his what is it his third year his third year I think it was when he was with Bobby Wagner he had a really good year playing the weak side linebacker learning behind Bobby Wagner uh and obviously it paid off um you see his fourth year or no his second year that was his second year um and his third year um obviously it paid off Bob ragner leaves uh he leads the the our team with tackles I think it was 145 tackles or something like that uh some big number um which is great you know I love that um I love that he's a great run stop um linebacker but we of to also understand too and we have to be fair and this is kind of like what organizations do they they don't just take a slice of what the player's good at you know they obviously they're they're going to pay him they're going to pay him in his whole to ality understanding his Run game obviously he's a great Blitzer he can Blitz he can for sure get us he's done that you know you look back at the Super Bowl um when they had him blitzing along with Von Miller you know all those guys ad Greg gains all these you know great players um and he he played great blitzing the quarterback the position or the area that I think was one of the main reasons why the Rams weren't going to pay him as much as he wanted to get paid at was his past coverage um and his playmaking ability to you know cause turnovers to make plays to you know help the offense get turnovers um I looked over his stats last or last night and I went over it he forced one fumble in his whole career with us and he's had three interceptions uh with us at at middle linebacker um he started year one he started year two he started year three and going into year four he would be he would have been a starter um but he's not that great of a pass you know Defender which to us I think that's probably one of the things that was really the the talking point for them obviously like if you're great at one thing and you're not so great at another thing that's kind of like obviously that's like if you work at a job and you're like yeah you're really you're really really good with the person you know commitment and Communications with face Toof face people you know you do a really good job of you know interacting with people but your admin part which is you know the data the you know the page the paper work the you know the communications with your director you know all that extra stuff that really matters just as much as you know being face to face with people um and that's kind of with Ernest Jones like we understand like he's a great runstop defender like we know that like he's going to feel that hole he's going to get tackles you know he's going to get some tfls um he'll get some sacks um obviously now with him with the Tennessee with you know uh Jeffrey Simmons in in the middle right there that he's going to be happy about that obviously that defense gets a little uh Stronger with ER adding erish Jones um but again I think that's kind of like where it was going obviously the trade kind of sucks we get you know a fifth round pick but to be fair you have to understand like as a fifth round if we get if the Rams get another fifth round pick that just you know you obviously we all know why you think about puka you think about Kiren um I think Whittington was also a fifth round pick too um but I mean so it's not that you know obviously we capitalize we always capitalize on the fifth round picks um I hate that we have to give up a sixth round pick uh that's you know we always send to you obviously the Jaylen Ramsey trade too that's another player too that uh we traded away and we had to trade stuff away and obviously we got Hunter uh um Hunter long who still hasn't even you know done much but um it sucks to see Ernest Jones go but I'm also excited to see Jake hmel I'm also excited to see Omar Spade step in I think those two guys will be the starters moving forward uh Jake hmel showed a lot of you know he showed some promise he was all over the field and that's what I like also about those two guys you they're Speedy guys they're going to be running across the field they're going to you know their eyes are not just going to be stuck in the back field they're going to be in you know they can make those plays as far dropping into coverage you know dropping into those purples dropping into those Blues excuse me um but it's definitely a position I mentioned it you know in one of my videos um on my YouTube page you can go back and look at I mentioned it like we middle linebacker is a position of need and it's been a position of need for a while I was hoping that the Rams would go after Devon white who you know got a cheap cheap deal um for for to play for the Eagles um I think he's going to have a great year um it's just you know when it comes to the Rams you kind of just have to understand who we are and what we do and why we do it uh I also think too like even if the Rams were to have kept Ernest Jones the entire year um I get the vibe that they were just going to let him walk anyway uh I don't think the Rams again I don't think they want to spend money on a position that isn't as a priority as quarterback is as receiver is as o line is as cornerback is um those are the position the position like left tackle those are the positions that we value and we have uh designated for um are positions that can really impact the game and we want game changers at those positions um obviously like if Ernest Jones played lights out you know in the pass game in the Run game you know in all facets as far as middle linebacker play goes I think the Rams would have signed him to whatever kind of contract he wanted I don't think they would made him the highest paid um but I think if he was asking for 14 15 that's a steep price to pay but if he's obviously like you know making the plays in the pass game making the plays in The Run games getting sacks you know coming up with some turnovers forcing some fumbles recovering taking him to the house you know like that's a player you want to obviously invest in because he's changing the game he's helping you create turnovers he's helping you put your offense in a position where you can be successful I just didn't see you know I didn't see that from him a lot I didn't see a lot of interceptions or turnovers or for or Force fumbles I saw a lot of tfls I saw a lot of I saw some good sacks um but the best you know they always say like the best players get the sacks and the fumbles they'll go for the sack and the fumble um I think he's a great player sucks if we lose him um I'll really be looking forward for this uh obviously The Season's already here I'm super excited for the season but again I just think that the Rams are you know saving their money for sure I think they have something planned for the future if not maybe mid-season for a trade for a middle linebacker um obviously you saw what he went for maybe we we recycle that fifth round pick and try to get someone even better to replace you know uh Ernest Jones in that position uh again I say Jake Hill and Omar Spates I'm hoping rer doesn't you know play I know Christian Rose boom is pretty nice too um but I think Jake hmel and Omar Spates will be the two guys that will be starting up the middle um I think Omar will be the the weak side and uh J com will be the strong side uh it'll be very interesting to see how we play against the Lions too as well and seeing how you know they're have a talk about you know playing a team with a great run game and a great pass game you know with you Alan raw and you got you know Gibbs and you got mountgomery and you got tight end uh I'm fumbling his name right now um I just had it and I lost it but we know who I'm talking about obviously they got Jameson Williamson back too as well he's going to be you know a player that we have to keep an eye on but as far as our our Run game and and the run defense you know it'll be very interesting to see the Tennessee is going to get a good middle linebacker again I'm just really looking I'm as far as a grade for the for the trade you know I probably grade it for us a C+ you know that's just kind of what it is um C+ on the trade we got a fifth round pick we lose our you know leader in the middle sucks um but again this is just kind of you know our our team's young you know uh we have money for this year so what I was gonna say um like obviously The Season's here already so I'm not trying to like skip over that but you know I'm sure they have offseason plans for middle linebacker I'm sure they're going to draft obviously a middle linebacker possibly first round maybe I'm trying to think about a position that we would we would need um if we were to have well if we were to keep our first round pick I can't see see any other position that we might need more than middle linebacker so I guess I'm going to make the prediction now I think with the first round pick in the 20 was it 25 26 um draft I think the Rams take a middle linebacker for sure the best one that we can get um I think it'll be very interesting to you know just see I want to just know what the Tennessee are going to pay them pay him um it'll be very very very interesting um I'm gonna make the prediction it'll probably be around I would love to take a look and see you know what uh Fred Warner makes he's being being the highest paid I would want to say he's probably going to make around 14 million I would say which is a steep price to pay at middle linebacker who you know isn't that great in the past game but is a great run stop Defender um and that's what kind of what Tennessee is too like they're they're not going to you're not going to run on Tennessee very easily you know you're not going to be to do it and we'll see how it goes man obviously the defensive side is going to be a question mark and if that question mark wasn't any bigger now it's a lot bigger now that we don't have Ernest Jones um obviously our D line looks good um but yeah we'll have to just continue to to wait and see um yeah kind of sucks but I kind of get both sides you know I understand Ernest Jon wants to get paid of course but for me I'm a I love the Rams organization I'm a Rams fan I'm not I don't love the I don't fall in love with the players I understand players come and go and I love the organization and you know whatever makes the team better obviously this you know doesn't make us that good anymore as far I mean we're still a great team don't get me wrong but obviously we take a little step back as far as the def the defensive side just that middle linebacker you know um but understanding that you know there has to be some sort of plan in place um I was going to look at the I looked at some of the free agencies free agents next year um I do like Isaiah Simmons um I'm hoping he obviously he's a fast pass game middle linebacker uh he's a Swiss uh Swiss army knife of course he can play DB he can play middle linebacker he can play outside he can play Corner um it'll be very interesting um but for now I guess you know we'll just have to wait and see what the next steps are as far as you know moving forward and who's going to be the starter to I think Omar Spates will be I think uh jakay KL will be the other starter too as well um which Omar Spates has a good Prospect you know he's he was one of the r highest rated players in all of the preseason obviously it's preseason you know but if you have those instincts already it just helps uh hopefully it'll translate into the regular season which we'll obviously need him uh to play a big role in this upcoming season um and hopefully that he can stay healthy along with Jake hmel and obviously we'll have Troy reader still and we'll have Christian Rosen boom as well um and who knows maybe they even throw uh or maybe they even throw uh what's his name um H I'm losing all these names bro Brennan Jackson maybe they throw Brennan Jackson in the middle um I know he's traditionally an outside linebacker but hey I wouldn't be surprised I mean if he can be again the Rams we like to draft what do we like to draft we like to draft versatile players you see the old line the old line is so versatile everyone can play every position if need be um maybe Brandon Jackson is one of those players that can play you know outside middle weak side strong side which would be very interesting to see again like there's a lot of options for us at middle linebacker um but for now we're just going to have to wait and see what happens and um Good Luck to Ernest Jones uh sucks he just be he was just U it was a salary thing one of those type of things where you know you can't really uh you know find a happy medium with both sides and uh the Tennessee Titans are going to get a really good player um and yeah I mean that's all we can really hope for and hopefully that fifth round pick that we do have if we don't trade it for another middle linebacker or another player of need that we capitalize on it which we have already with puka with kir with uh Joe wit Jay wit um but again I love our team uh I'm I'm really looking forward to week one against the Lions at Lions it'll be a big game I hope you guys are just as excited as I am um our offense obviously looks really really good you got some players coming back obviously you got Bren uh Jonah Jackson coming back puka is back they know I we know that havenstein's might be out for you know couple games and alri Jackson is out but again we saw a lot of great things from uh from Logan bruss we'll see how uh um Warren McLendon does maybe they throw him out there at left tackle obviously we still got Noom who I think they'll put out there at left tackle um so I think the we no boom brenon Jackson uh Steve AA uh doson and shoot yeah maybe Lauren Mendon Lauren Mendon play right tackle that'll be and that'll be cool I'd like that I like that lineup um obviously you got Logan bruss you got Bo Limer who played another really good I would love to have seen KT levingston play but he got he ended up getting hurt um uh but we have a we have great depth at every position so I'm gonna have to end it from there I'll try to do it next time a little bit sooner but I just figured all how to do all this live stuff just now I'll probably do a lot more live stuff rather than um like video and then post um I think it's better more like you get to kind of see like my reaction and my how I come up with my own like theories and like my own anal analysis of the Rams and um I'll be talking mostly Rams the whole season on this podcast this my this this is the just cruising podcast I created this podcast this is I have an audio version of just like talking about life and stuff like that and maybe I'll put that down in the description um one sometime or maybe I'll just put it in my bio for if you guys want to check that out but I'm very life oriented stoic uh I'm a stoic uh at nature I love nature um Buddhism Buddhism I'm I'm into that kind of thing of you know the stoics believe that uh not being attached to anything that you're not attached to your opinions your thoughts your actions U but you do it all in the kindness of your heart and U and Buddhism OB is um not being attached to your material to your materialistic uh things in life and things that come and go and that's also kind of like what the stoic is like whatever you have now enjoy what enjoy it but don't fall in love with it because when it goes you're easily able able to just push it out and let it go but that's a whole different topic for a whole another discussion and maybe I'll get into one of those one of these
