so when the greatest coach in college football who's now doing some analyst work for ESPN speaks and he tells you things about the game he talks to you about um teams and what they are and what he sees in them you're definitely going to sit down and listen and Nick Sabin on Pat McAfee show was asked a question about Texas and Oklahoma coming into the SEC and quite frankly if they were ready in in the trenches specifically is what they were talking about and Nick Sabin had some interesting things to say about Texas and Oklahoma definitely favoring Texas more but when you hear the conversation you almost have to ask yourself is he favoring Texas because Texas is coached by one of his prodigies and Oklahoma is not and Oklahoma is coached by a coach that has beat him in a national championship before because when I look into the argument it it kind of doesn't Mak sense a little bit and I I I'm going to look at the numbers from the ESPN standpoint so that this is completely fair and we can look at what he's looking at but we're gonna jump real quick right into the question that Nick Sabin was asked and then we're gonna listen to his comments and then we're g to jump into why his statement doesn't make sense but before we do that if you are new to the channel and you have not make sure you hit that like hit the Subscribe button if you've been here for a while make sure you hit that like and the Subscribe button because listen all of that helps and I want you guys to continue to come for great college football content because the season's here and you know we got it all right let's listen to some Nick Sabin here uh conference realignment um a lot of it is I don't want to say smaller schools or smaller programs going to bigger conferences but in the case of Texas and Oklahoma going from the Big 12 a lot of people say the offensive line the defensive line is not what it is in the SEC do you think that is the the biggest thing for Texas and Oklahoma going forward is the trenches going into the SEC well I I'll say this about Texas Texas was built like an SEC team Sark built Texas like an SEC team so they have big people up front they have they're physical you know watching Oklahoma this off season they are one of the most athletic teams in the country but they are not as big and as physical up front and I think this may be a problem for Oregon too because Oregon's going to be extremely skilled but can they match up up front even in the Big 10 so those were some interesting comments from Nick Sab and the first part that kind of took me back a little bit was sarc has been building Texas to go to the SEC and why did this take me back because Bren vinales when he got to Oklahoma had to strip this whole program down to the studs and quite frankly one of the reasons why I felt like he did didn't do as well in the Big 12 as he could have was because he was building this program to play in the SEC and not in the Big 12 and I'm sure sarc is doing the same thing but to only basically include Texas in that response that just not right that's what this is what Brent Vines has been preparing for and yes Oklahoma is extremely athletic a lot of really great guys but when you look at at the trench play and we're going to start with the offensive line Oklahoma not only has size but they have the athleticism on the offensive line and their ceiling on the offensive line might be as good as any of these other potential offensive line rosters in the SEC and when you look at Texas's offensive line uh it's definitely going to be a little bit more favorable this year because if you look at the talent they have on there I think they have two five stars starting on their offensive line Texas is going to be in the conversation for a Joe Moore awardwinning offensive line what live up to those expectations that's remain to be seen and again I think this all comes back down to uh the narrative that Oklahoma lost all these guys in the offensive line this past season so their offensive Line's not going to be that good but I look at what Oklahoma did on the recruiting Trail Josh isosa you got Daniel Aken Kumi and Isaiah ay who's six I think he's like 67 now uh 320 or something like that like enormous human being Eugene Brooks who is a voted as a early freshman All-American uh you've got Eddie Pier Louie this was a guy that everybody across the country wanted and then not to mention you had a Jacob SE seon and a jake Taylor You've Got A Logan Howland who we've talked about has a really high ceiling because you know he's moving from tit in two offensive line which is what he played in high school played his last year in high school at left tackle you know so he's able to develop into a great left tackle Oklahoma hit a home run there but regardless I look at what Oklahoma has on the offensive line and say uh it's gonna be it's gonna be hard to find too many other offensive lines that are better than Oklahoma in terms of what they're built for what they've been building and going into the future if you wanted to say Alabama has more depth than Oklahoma on the offensive line I could buy that I could buy that conversation and I and I only use Alabama for an example because I you know Nick sa used to coach Alabama he's obviously going to know that roster very well so that's the roster that I was really comparing Oklahoma to I want pull this up here so you guys can see it let's see if I can give you guys a bigger better view of it here um I don't know maybe you guys can see that a little better when you look at the Alabama offensive line uh a lot of this offensive line or a lot of the experienced guys on here are going to be Juniors and seniors so you do kind of Wonder okay um what is their freshman classes look like from 23 and 24 uh you know did they build it up as good as Bill Bebo did his I know in 25 it's an exceptional offensive line class that they have coming in uh and if you look Casey Poe one of the guys Oklahoma was going after already coming in at 322 pounds so as far as offensive line Compares ad BMA will have the probably the better depth there maybe even better potential future Talent than Oklahoma on the offensive line but to act like it's just you know Oklahoma was not preparing did not build for this when you look at the numbers it they're very similar here I'm gonna pull up the Oklahoma offensive line the the numbers in terms of weight height they're very similar numbers here that's what I want a lot of people to understand now looking at the other side of trench play going to the defensive line uh again this was another head scratcher to me uh going to look at Alabama's defensive line here um these are the numbers for interior guys Edge guys like this is what oklah or Alabama's got so I go to I go to um Oklahoma's defensive line obviously uh you're not you're not going to want your Edge guys to be you know 280 290 right you want those guys be in about 260 range uh so you know that's what your Ethan DS are your PJ ababe War your Trace Ford those guys I'm looking at more your interior guys Grayson Halton uh you've got Ace hods Jaden Jackson Ashton Sanders Devon Sears David Stone uh do or Dominic Williams Deon Terry you know these are all guys that for Oklahoma you know I think a lot of people expect and I think Oklahoma's depth on the defensive line is going to be really good this year I think you can go three or four in your rotation on the interior defensive line that's how I mean you've got you probably got which just talking to Jay and Koop about this earlier you've probably got Jaden Jackson starting at nose tackle this year which for a lot of you might shock you um and you've got Dominick Williams start on that defensive line but then you've got Deon Terry behind them you've got Devon Sears who's been a guy in practice that's gotten the praise from BV you saw him in the spring game he showed out so when you compare Oklahoma's defensive line compared to Alabama's again you have to ask yourself where the disparity is in these numbers and in fact you could say Oklahoma's defensive line has more depth than Alabama's defensive line so kind of looking into this a little bit more uh just gonna say it I don't agree with Nick Sabin I don't agree with the comments that you know Oklahoma just isn't prepared uh to to play in the SEC at a high level especially in the trenches I definitely think they can inexperience is going to hurt Oklahoma on the offensive side of the ball but on the defensive side of the ball Oklahoma is right there uh they're not going to be as big like Georgia's defensive line is just stupid like it it's literally stupid like they've got guys that are 340 350 uh when you look at Texas's defensive line I think they have a couple more guys in Oklahoma that are in the 300 range but also these were like end of summer like summer numbers uh so you know everybody could have improved their weight and I would expect Oklahoma's going to have a couple more guys into 300 range uh Texas could obviously do the same but to act like Texas is the only team coming into the SEC that is prepared in the trenches to play in the SEC uh I think is just a wild statement by Nick Sabin and you almost have to wonder you know is Nick Sabin going in there for clicks because he's an analyst now and that's what ESPN wants him to do or does Nick Sabin actually believe this because if Nick Sabin actually believes this um yeah I kind of question it a little bit so guys if you um are still here you guys made it this far make sure you guys hit that like hit the Subscribe button join the discussion below let me know what you guys think about Nick sabin's comments and hit that like hit the
