so he he getss hogar Runa he beats Taylor Fritz Tommy Paul in the last couple weeks what has gotten him to this next level this is a really really solid player and I think some of these are just matchups that really gel with him he serves well he's a much bigger player than uh you might might see him on TV I mean Steve we talked to him I mean he's a good six to really solid a part of this honestly I think we need to talk a little bit about what in the heck is going on with hog garuna I mean that's that's a bad loss but brand the Nakashima is a very nice player on this surface and there's some players I mean he's winning record against Tommy Paul as well there's some players he just matches up well against that's an awfully solid win to start off his US Open campaign it's been a struggle for hogar Runa and I think the confidence once you lose it it can be very difficult to get it back and especially coming into a major let alone the last major of the Year everything going on in New York all of the eyes the expectation and Runa not handling that situation as well but I think also sometimes the matchup is just a tough one for any player and with Nakashima the how solid he is from the ground the way he hits his backand I mean that was the shot that he used to dictate and control often in that match he had the serve going when he needed it so the components of the Nakashima game were all working to put Runa under under duress that entire match and in the end it was Nakashima getting through pretty handily big props for Brandon he he's improved a ton of things I think the serve has been a huge element in him getting a lot better and he just simplifies things he doesn't really let too many things bother him he goes out there and just focuses on what he needs to on the court and that's a beautiful thing that not a lot of players do so he's definitely on the rise here especially with all those top wins but for hogar adventure a different opinion here I mean just for from his tennis the guy's exceptional he's been top five in the world and there wasn't by fluke he's won a masters 1,000 he defeated so many top 10 players to be able to make the uh to win that title in Paris just a few years a couple years ago I think it's just between the ears right now A lot has happened uh off the court he's he's had these Personnel changes um you got to have all your business settled there so you can be nice and calm and be able to play on the court otherwise sometimes when you're at a young age you can let those things mesh and it's not easy got to have your business settled to stand on business for gosh and right now that's what Brandon Nakashima is doing he certainly is
