CJ Stroud & Texans Are Back On The Field Minus Joe Mixon As They Prepare For Preseason Opener!

Texans back on the practice field before the pads come on a new running back perhaps some concern about the starting running back some big plays that stuck out and a lot to get into let's go inside another LIVE edition of the locker room he locker room yeah we in the locker room Texas talk yeah you know what we about to do localize every anger what we really do The Source we the post of the city too landlock got the game in the headlock localize every time can't stop won't stop yeah we top two and we not two plugged in Daily digital on YouTube it is the locker room number one source for Texans digital content I'm Landry Locker straight off the practice field uh to your screen be sure to subscribe like right along another day for the Houston Texans we're going to get into the observation uh tomorrow and this was confirmed by De o Ryan tomorrow and we'll hear from him here the pads will be on fans will be in the stands and that's where it's going to get really really close be on the lookout for a potential midnight drop uh myself and Cody stuts one hour pregame for those of you going up to practice just just put it on uh on the uh on your Blu tooth or whatever and listen to it we'll get we'll take you up to practice talk about who's going to benefit the most from being in the pads as well as uh mixing in our observations as we cover this team um as uh best as we can appreciate everyone for coming through be sure to swarm uh the like button uh as Gage said uh someone says I hate driving in Houston yeah it wasn't fun today uh there was a there was a wreck on gessie there was a uh ambulance kind of swerving in and out and um yeah little bit of a hike uh to get here so no laramy tonsil not surprising Al though his his work on the side had was intensified uh same thing with Andrew Beck still no Andrew Beck um Christian Harris still no sight of Christian Harris and perhaps one of the bigger surprises Joe Mixon was out again now last week we saw Joe Mixon uh miss a practice the the final one and just figured it was a veteran's day off so really didn't even uh raise an eyebrow to it but wasn't there again uh as well D Ryan insists that there's nothing to uh to worry about and I wouldn't Panic too much but the running back depth is definitely something that has been a concern in the off season and I I don't think that that has gone away now nothing crazy has happened to make it any worse uh but nothing's really jumped out either that makes you feel uh any better Damen Pierce has look good uh physically he looks better but it's not like he's just sticking out like a sore thumb something that did kind of stick out though uh was cam Acres who was on the field he was actually rocking uh number 22 didn't have a name on the back but uh cam Acres was out there uh he didn't get a team rep or anything like that um but he was on the field so we did get to see uh cam Acres moving around a little bit doing drills all that here was a uh here's a shot of Cam Acres uh that I just took on the phone uh going out for a pass I know we love us some uh good oldfashioned uh uh training camp highlights this is this is Cam Acres right here uh just moving around a little bit uh you had Damen Pierce um he was rb1 so this is going to be uh Pierce right here um yeah pretty much not a ton to see there but here was uh here's ACR [Music] so yeah that that was what we got from cam acres and and for the most part that was it there was a lot of monitoring from him um I don't make much of the cam Acres um signing like maybe maybe it's just an extra Camp body uh nothing on Christian Harris we still don't know anything they don't seem concerned um but yeah uh nothing really uh too concerning uh about about uh about Joe Mixon yet but cam Acres I I don't I don't make much of Cam Acres being on the Texans I just really don't make much of it um but yeah he was rocking uh the 22 um kick return drills we got some more kick return drills today uh today uh you had Desmond King and Damen Pierce uh returning kicks you had them back with the ones um I I'm starting to think that Desmond King is kind of the guy to watch when it comes to this kick return thing I I don't think we're going to see as much Damen Pierce as maybe some people had anticipated we might see it every once in a while but we've seen Desmond King make a pro bowl and I heard Harris and uh vandermere uh on 610 on the way in talking about um Damien Pierce uh or Desmond king and the fact that he has the experience I think that like just based on early observ ations and again we haven't seen like a a live live rep of this it'll be interesting to see when the pads come on um what this looks like uh but I think Dez King is probably the guy uh to keep a uh close eye on uh for sure Cami fairb I don't want to say he's struggling but it does seem like there's this kickoff thing it it's something that is is getting his attention we haven't seen a lot of people had the theory that maybe Dar a goba would kick off haven't even seen him doing that he's covering kicks he's on uh kick team one uh Townsen haven't even seen him kick one uh he was actually working on holding today him and weeks were getting their uh chemistry up didn't even see a towns in punt uh which sucks because those things uh have been uh pretty damn uh impressive I know it's early but can you confirm Will Anderson looks even better than last year everyone says he is wreaking havoc um he looks good but I want to I want to say this and and this is this is very subject to change uh once the uh once the pads get thrown on Blake fiser looks pretty good like he's he's holding his own against pretty good guys coming off of the edge I thought today was the best that the the D linan have looked you saw Tim settle make a couple of plays khil Davis probably would have had a sack had had there been cont and you could hit the quarterback the dline looked really really good um specifically against the right side uh of the Texans o line but but Blake fiser I'm I'm telling you and pads can change a lot but Blake fiser with laramy tunel and I heard Cody Davis shout out to Cody Davis uh he asked uh demo the question we'll hear it in a sec uh he asked him a question about how valuable these reps are for Blake fiser he looks good he looks good again no pads do with that what you will but they might have known what the hell they were doing when they drafted uh surprisingly to many um when they drafted a tackle uh and did their thing um does Dar have any relation with WNBA Allstar yes that's his uh that's his sister um Blake fiser is playing left tackle correct uh he's playing left tackle uh also with the ones we got a look at Cade Stover uh out there Kade Stover today he was not rocking gloves it's interesting how sometimes he's rocking gloves and sometimes he's not he's got like the Kyle Tucker type vibe there where Kyle Tucker used to not rock batting gloves and then he would rock batting gloves it was just kind of a back and forth uh it's interesting to see a tight end doing that um he had a couple of uh couple of catches just dump offs I will say this he definitely looks way smaller than quitano out there um I don't know I don't he's not like physically you know how when a rookie comes into the league and they say okay well yeah just wait till the more he gets in the waight room he's not a small guy by any stretch of the imagination um but when he's out there um he's he looks a little bit smaller than um the other tight ends uh when when they're out there and it's going to be interesting to see what Andrew Beck looks like um for sure uh how is uh Foley looking Foley is looking good um he's a lot I was sitting by uh Seth Payne um and uh there's a uh to the left there's a cold SAA type of thing where the players go in and get kind of revived um he's physically pretty I mean he's put together uh and I know that's like the the dline body Lang uh body type uh expert but yeah he looks pretty good the dline I thought they had a really really really good day before we go through all the team sessions be sure to uh like the video be sure to subscribe like uh right along this is Texans Training Camp OBS day four tomorrow going to be probably the most intense practice that we've seen the pads are going to be on also going to have some fans out there uh if you're going out there uh come by say hi we'll get to the play of practice uh the worst play of practice uh a play that was good and bad but first let's hear from Deo Ryan's address in the media uh Deo Ryan's head coach your Houston Texans talking about what he saw on the field and what he's looking forward to tomorrow fire way like last days of like the inity has picked up is that something that you as well yeah I think guys are showing up with the right mindset and that's what I encourage our guys daily right you have to show up on purpose right you have to show up with an intent and a mindset to get better and you've seen intensity pick up and that's how Camp usually goes you kind of ease into it and guys see what it's going to be like and they start to just get more comfortable with what we're asking them to do and that allows them to play a little bit faster see I thought today was the sloppiest day of practice uh and you could kind of see CJ stra a little bit upset uh with some of the uh um you you could see CJ getting a little bit upset uh there was times there was there was probably a handful of penalties uh pre- snap um they were struggling uh offensively like more than they have in the first few days uh I I think the intensity will will def Ely uh be there tomorrow but today I don't think CJ was pleased with uh what they put out there say again yeah Joe Joe will be fine Joe may miss a little time but he'll he'll be fine Joe is toughest competitors we have right so I'm not worried about Joe he'll be fine no issues there like okay offense how would you assess what was going out there or would you say just plans out this game I think when you look at it right as you're watching it live you see right the defense made a few plays but we always go back and watch the tape and see right I always you never know really what happened until you watch the tape and get a true understanding but defense made some plays offense made plays there been a lot of back and forth and that's got to watch the tap the making of a good team you want it to be back and forth you don't want practice to be lopsided every single day and it's been that way for us offense has had some days defense have had some days so I'm encouraged by both sides having their good Cody with the Mario Edward goodness gracious dude man Mario veteran he shows up and intense every day Locked In Coach how can I get better right you show up with that mindset it's gonna it's easy easy for us to coach you Mario has done a done a great job for what we've asked him to do little scheme change for him and he's taken to it well he's taken the coaching well coach Rod is doing a great job with him um it just adds to the versatility amongst our defense line and so what we're looking for across our entire team just versatility as many versatile players as we can as we can have allows us schematically right to mix things up a lot from him from the way you played the end last season dererk has done a great job in Camp uh he's he's been very consistent one of our most consistent players in Camp so I'm encouraged with where dere isiday Saturday we got a chance to talk to Matt about moving jayen Petri around a little bit get him back with maybe some of the schemes that he ran in college what did you see on film to be able to say maybe we should go we should man it's not what I seen on film with jayen it's just who jayen is as a person as a player right Jason I mean J Jason Jaylen right is very personal right you talk about a guy who's disruptive when he's blitzing he's disrupt him in the pass game running game so we Jaylen is moving all around different places and that's uh that's something that I think that will help us defensively you like CJ and connection yeah CJ and digs have been been really they're really good you see them growing you see them their connection their bond they're communicating seems like after every snap right those guys were talking or pre- snap with alignments they're they're getting on the same page and that takes time it takes building a relationship outside of being on the football field it takes building that relationship right in the locker room meeting rooms and that's what I see from both of those guys a ton of communication which allows their relationship to grow build stronger last made Playas made today when did you notice he was he doing against some of the top players when did you notice he was kind of ready for that challenge to go against Kamari is showing up every day he's quiet but he's he's locked in focused and tense and and I don't you don't notice him much because he's always doing his job he's always where he should be he's always in position he's always doing what we asked him to do and as a rookie that says a lot for a young guy to come in and you know not be noticed a lot for doing you know something negative but everything has been positive with Kamari he's exactly the guy we saw from the Georgia film like da then he's a lot of people call him a dog he's a dog he's locked in and it'll show up even more I think once we get the pass on just remember the Georgia tape how physical he was when it came to tackling so uh encouraged with where he is is you know starting out such a young career where he is right now in training camp what he did in OTAs I think he's just he'll continue to ascend and get better what do you think about adding cam to the equation run we added cam see if he can compete what's been your early evaluation of Blake F how been official is it for a young rookie it's really been an advantage for Blake for me uh being out and Blake having to get in there all right and learn on the fly like it's really been very beneficial it's an advantage to him because the more reps you get the better you get right and Blake is going against will he's going against denil so I mean all those guys are getting better up front you talk about Blake Titus our entire offensive line defensive line the way they work that's the hardest thing to do when you're trying to practice in a safe manner right the o line and dline there's some give and take there but they're also they have to work their craft and get better and I think both sides of the ball has done a really good job of you know Iron sharpening iron really challenging each other I'm very pleased with the way our o line and D line has been working how exciting is it when the pads come on like when you're here without P how exciting is that first day of p y FKS yeah first day of PS is always an exciting day and then after about three days guys are ready to get out of the P so and it last for a little bit then guys are tired of but it's it's fun for us I don't know how much fun it is for the players especially in this humidity but it'll be be fun to see the pack go on tomorrow to see just a little more contact a little more physicality you shouldn't see much change from our practices though main thing how we practice we want keep everybody safe keep everybody up off the ground talking they kind use that ad dog as well as you mention they Haven the past year how you kind of seen that mentality from him already as far as doity you just see the mentality of like just his eyes his demeanor like in the meeting room he's just he's locked in you can see it in his eyes that he's truly taking in what you're what you're giving him when it comes to coaching points or Corrections and he's locked in from that standpoint and when he comes out here on the field it's the same thing he's not a loud guy by by words but he's a loud guy by his actions right thank you guys thank you so is Derek Stingley uh for sure uh we'll hear Dereck Stingley man man of very few words uh but he got to uh speak today Stefan digs we're going to do a whole video uh of Stefan Diggs I'll say this like we we know CJ is good at the podium Diggs is pretty damn solid as well um I I know that there's been like some revisionist history when it comes to uh when when it comes to what they're saying in Buffalo I never really heard it but but it is a very very uh enjoyable experience watching Stefan Diggs practice uh and then going to the podium we we actually talked to Cole Beasley right in here uh about Diggs and he talked about their competitiveness with each other when they were both uh all Pros uh Diggs says that that is uh already um already taking place uh with with this uh wide receiver course so let's uh let's break down the team stuff we'll hear from Derek Stingley uh we'll also hear Stefan Diggs talking about uh Derek Stingley the many personalities uh on this squad uh JJ stack says fiser swing tackle confirm maybe pads will tell us I I would be willing to say that that's I mean he's getting the Reps ahead of Charlie heck uh and he hasn't move from that starting left tackle I I think the Texans might have might have figured something out here and he went to Notre Dame as the most highly recruited left tackle in the nation got beat out by a guy that ended up going top 10 in the draft um but he's right there at left tackle it looks like he knows what the heck he's doing haven't really seen him much at right because Titus how has been holding down that right side but yeah I I think the swing tackle is is really really a thing and and when me and Cody STS be on the lookout for the midnight drop if you're going to the practice uh we got you covered I'm gonna go 30 we're g to pass it to him he's going to go 30 um so there's your pregame to get you ready but I think I think Blake fiser spoiler alert is one of the guys that's going to be the most interesting to watch uh when it comes to when they put on the pads uh any breakout kickoff returns for a TD question from Steve um no not really uh it's it's been around the 25 to 30 um sometimes they run past the guys without you know being tackled and you can't really tell would they have broken that tackle or not but for the most part like not anything too crazy um on the uh kickoff they also did like the Special Teams uh drills is Christian Harris injured soft tissue stuff don't know they haven't said anything about it uh I agree Diggs is a beast at the podium um zero doubt uh about that appreciate you for coming through uh Hawke um one more good player to keep strout on his feet uh good second rounder um won the starting LT as a true freshman got hurt and lost the rest of the season and then it went to joah yeah um look I I don't know if this guy fish is going to be your future left tackle I don't know if he's going to be your future right tackle but I would be willing to bet that he's starting on one side I know that they like tonsil and they like Howard but I think a year two years from now he's going to be one of your starting tackles and that's just kind of the way that things have to go when you're gonna be paying CJ strad you're gonna be paying some of these other Elite guys you can't have two overly expensive tackles you can find ways to do it but I think this was kind of a chess move bringing fiser in and so far he looks pretty damn good um for sure uh but yeah we'll uh we'll get uh into that how is uh quitano he was there uh they got they Stover got a lot of first team reps today um so we saw that um let's uh let's go through a team we'll go through team one they had four team periods today on offense really the defense won this practice um you had the the first play was a throwa away that CJ was pressured he had to throw the Rock Away uh then you had a vintage uh sideways wide receiver screen to Nico Collins this looked like it probably would have been a pretty big play it was very well executed the one where he comes in in the slot uh throws it um that this one probably would have gone for close to 20 yards in a game it was it was very well executed and when they're throwing screens the there's been like a little bit of inconsistency when they're throwing like screens to running backs and and maybe even other wide receivers I know Diggs would have got lit up by Will Anderson the other day um the Nico Collins wide receiver screen is alive in FN well it is alive uh and well as I mentioned you got Cade Stover getting some action with the ones um doesn't look big out there uh doesn't look small but doesn't look really big there's there's a clear size difference between him and the other tight ends at least if you're just like looking at the arms uh it's driving me crazy this is just a one this is a 100% me observation sometimes he wears the gloves uh sometimes uh he does not we had a delay of game I don't know what the hell was going on in this Play Noah Brown started out lined up on CJ's left then he went to the right then there was communication then there was a shift and then hopefully because it's one of my pet peeves they wouldn't have called a timeout to say sa the five yards they were actually I think inside the 10 um but they definitely would have gotten a penalty uh and you kind of saw some frustration from uh CJ next play after that they uh ran a pitch play to Damen Pierce to the left uh that would have been stuffed um not even not no chance there uh probably would have maybe gained a yard or lost a yard uh then Davis Mills came in uh you had a Dar a goba W run um then you had a Taylor pitch and then now this is the good bad play of practice the best play of practice we'll get to uh in a second um but you had rookie kin bolck at safety uh Davis Mills doing what Davis Mills has been known to do in practice uh and perhaps in games just cayin bolock just read Davis Mills eyes perfect back pedal kind of a little out route um Bullock jumped it perfectly and just dro the rock uh so this would have been uh his first interception um of of Camp uh I don't know if he's gonna have very many easier than this and I'm not just completely uh discrediting uh his efforts but I I think he would even tell you he should have caught that rock uh Davis Mills threw it right to him then you had a bunch of me uh to conclude team one so the the Nico screen sideways screen uh was the play uh and then cin Bullock had an opportunity to make a play he dropped the interception it is the locker room we're going through the uh the observations we'll hear from Derek Stingley in a second uh we'll also hear from Stefan Diggs shortly although there's going to be a full Podium critic breakdown of Stefan Diggs and he is fantastic um at the podium team number two um you had a very God it's it's just so pretty it it looks like nothing and that just kind of speaks to when you have a quarterback who can just zip it like CJ strad but just a perfect crisp 10 yard out to Stefan Diggs uh probably would have been able to fight for the first down um close to nine went out of bounds uh but in in a game probably wouldn't have been able to get the first down but just smooth as butter uh CJ stra to Stefan Diggs uh 10 yard out um then you had a jump ball on the sidelines to Diggs I don't know how catchable it was was uh but you had Stefan Diggs and Kamari Lasser um running stride for stride with each other uh getting really really um really really kind of kind of physical on the sidelines uh and it dropped to um it dropped in complete uh then an out to Nico another beautiful out C CJ St is just throwing that out uh perfectly um then uh as CJ went off the field uh there would have been a sack Tim settle um we remember the Eric Armstead signing with the uh signing with the Jags the same day that that happened the uh Texans settled for another D lineman um and uh he uh Tim settle would have uh would have had a sack uh on that play um then there was a flag uh it was a massive overthrow Case Keenum kind of threw it over uh threw it over uh scarano's head um I don't even think it was really catchable uh but they had refs out there the ref through the flag so uh would have been a pretty healthy gain it was a post route uh to him then not much more on uh Team two uh so just the the awesome out routes uh and just the way that CJ Stout Zips him that highlighted team two uh Team three um once again perfectly executed wide receiver screen to Nico Collins and this one generated some some oo and Oz uh from the media types as well as the offense and the players on the side just perfectly executed Nico uh from CJ strad um that got followed up you kind of wondered if the offense would finally get a little bit of momentum there was a flag at the line of scrimmage then a pitch to DAR Goomba that would have got blown the hell up um then Davis Mills came in uh he had a completion of Noah Brown I think it probably would have been a sack uh in a real game but he gets the uh the completion to Noah Brown uh Cade Stover uh dump off um then a nice uh overthe shoulder grab from uh scanic um from Bole Bole came in threw it up uh scanic jumps up catches the rock uh one one of the nicer uh catches of practice um and then there was a uh an interesting I don't know what happened here uh and and they they're showing the replays uh but sometimes the replays kind of cut off and sometimes the uh the view can be limited but there was a deep ball from uh CJ to Nico that looked like it probably should have been caught by niik cons it wasn't necessarily A Drop it almost like went through his hands um or he didn't see it or lost it in the sum but it was it was a really pretty throw uh from CJ uh unable to connect with Nico perhaps would have been the play of practice um but did not happen then it got completely sloppy uh just really nothing going on on offense uh Davis Mills missed uh tank Dell on a slant uh that probably could have gone for close to 25 yards uh had he hit him in stride I kind of skipped it a little bit um another Stover grab dumped down um and then you had this one rep where and I thought this was really impressive um Will Anderson just got off the ball perfectly like you know how sometimes whenever an elite Edge guy just it it's almost like hey was he off sides nah he just guessed the snap count perfectly and just perfectly executed his fundamentals um I anticipated seeing Will Anderson closing in on the quarterback and perhaps slapping him on the back because you can't uh tackle him but Fischer held his own he recovered very nicely perfect footwork um and he kept he kept Will Anderson off of the quarterback so again pads will tell a different story but this was incredibly impressive uh by Fischer and then settle made a couple more plays uh as we go through team three let's get to some of the comments before we uh before we get to uh number four uh for sure um offense about to come out clicking tomorrow I would think so uh there there's going to be a uh a hell of a lot going on there is Pierce reading the blocks better hard to tell uh we'll see the pads are going to be interesting it's going to be interesting to see what he looks like uh there he is getting the uh first team uh first team reps uh for sure uh in two years so be a free agent not sure who you're talking about maybe you're talking about someone else I don't know but Fischer's got a four-year deal um one two it'll be a starter yeah he's got he's still got four seasons before he's for if if that's what we're uh talking about will John wegs play another 15 years I doubt it um did Jeff Auda get an interception stay tuned uh we got you there uh do you think you're they're GNA cut Mills I don't um how did Acres look he just ran drills um he I don't even think he had a team rep uh if he did I missed it so he just ran drills he looked I don't know I think it's impressive that you you've had uh both both achilles torn uh and you're out there doing your thing uh we'll get to Team Four breakdown first though let's hear from the man a few words Derek Stingley speaks short and sweet uh cornerback one Stefan Diggs has some real strong words about him uh as well let's hear from the man a few words the guy who's just B that action boss let's hear from uh Derek Stingley just making sure everybody know what they got going on so I mean I think we all feel good right now [Music] I can't even remember a cat being caught on in a long time so I mean he doing what he doing and so reason year and it's the lock down that side of the field so if you knowes uh really um it helped me explain explain certain things like like explain football terms in a better way um if he has a question or something um instead of just having to put it in my own terms I got to know how to communicate with my teammates so uh I mean he pretty much know everything already but you know a few times he'll ask a question and just being able to um answer him on that how much is a from a bonding perspective uh with your friends from across the league and from your teammates to go to get away and work with some things to talk about the D profession what's the question how much should that help you oh um I mean it was good it it was a time to to be somewhere else but still you know work U with my pops him doing the camp and and having a couple us out there uh just working on different techniques different um different ways to play the game so took we all took some of that and now we're here so it's Goodbody every day out here uh you know it's it's fun um every day you get better every you probably see something you ain't never seen before uh so I mean that's good cuz you know once we get in the game it's probably going to be something schemed up like that so it's good that we SE it in practice now see a couple really great wide receiver you we at LSU when you look at the wide receiv receiv group here is it comparable to what you saw back in 2019 the group we got now I feel like I don't know what he was thinking here he was laughing but you got Jamar Chase Jefferson um I I think he I think I don't think he'll ever have a have a group like that it's you know uh you just throw it to whoever they they probably G to score after the catch so you know I think the group we got now they're pretty good couple more I know NCAA replaced he game okay and how do you feel like how you say that all yeah uh and just going and just playing with him so you know the only team I played with was LSU so anybody want to play you know you can play What's it been like from a preparation standpoint head into this season kind of no rehab in the offseason healthy offseason what's been this season you say that again what's it been like coming into this season with no rehab in the offseason healthy off season ahead of season oh I mean it's good um um pretty much like last year I was I was here and then I was also working out um like my pops or wherever I was at so I mean yeah it's pretty Good's your favorite guy to playge oh I mean it really don't matter I I I pretty much win all the games play you know yeah I play with you a lot okay right than all right there you go that's uh Derek Stingley man uh he is a he's definitely a uh a man of uh very few words uh but Stefan Diggs and we'll go through the final team period in a sec be sure to uh subscribe like uh right along um Stefan Diggs had some High Praise of Stingley um this is one of the headlines I'm sure like if you were if you were looking for a headline you had to write a column tomorrow this would be one of them uh here's digg's High Praise of Derek Stingley I actually think sting is and I won't even you know shake when I say that I think he one of the best DBS in the league I'm saying especially from Talent level and he fast he can run he can break um and he compete at a high level throughout his career so uh for me just going in each and every day with a mindset of getting them better like not only competing one-onone yeah I wanna I want to do you in the worst way but it's out of love you know what I'm saying and even the young lers is as they say uh bringing in a guy that's ready he could be ready you know what I'm saying he might even be ready right now he's a guy that's you know takes it day by day um technique sound seeking knowledge I me want to compete at a high level and he ain't running from it you know what I'm saying I'm I'm I'm talking my junk to him a little bit you know just to kind of get him going and he's right there he's standing 10 toes down so something that you like to see at young players is that confidence so uh just to see those guys day in and day out not even just them just all the DBS I had a conversation with them like day one and day two they like anything y'all need from me come holl at me uh just like you said like I've been this way you know I'm saying as far as like this isn't nothing new to me you I'm saying a lot of people see me for the first time but I'm trying to get better I want to be better I want to be the best me but I'm bringing as many people as I can with me like those young kids are special like you know this young team kind of see a lot of potential in but it kind of starts Us in practice he's an impressive dude man I I I'll say that that's one of the biggest takeaways he's he's impressive at the podium uh he's impressive on the field um very very easy to get behind uh Stefan Diggs uh and in the decision to bring Stefan Diggs in I'm I'm very very impressed um with what he's brought uh to this squad very very impressed um with dig so let's go to Team Four breakdown this was the final period of practice it is the locker room giving you your uh Texans Training Camp odds OBS straight off of the uh the practice field so we started out Team Four uh and a very sloppy start um sloppy practice today um relative to the the other few that we've seen uh Damen Pierce you had a pitch that would have been completely uh blown up uh you then had CJ a little bit of Miss communication in the slot uh not sure who it was I think it might have been tank don't hold me to that but so whoever was on his right side in the slot uh don't know if it should have been they should have checked hot don't know if CJ they miscommunicated but it was one of those where CJ thought the receiver was supposed to be somewhere else and maybe who knows who was right but uh Jimmy Ward Dove had a near interception didn't end up uh getting the interception though but there was clear miscommunication uh that miscommunication was followed up with uh even more miscommunication another penalty another procedure penalty uh then you had um Jerry Hughes uh with a near JJ Watt likee interception just perfectly executed uh jumped the screen he came from the right side uh screen they let him through put his hands up uh almost had the uh the JJ Watt uh style interception but that did not happen uh then there would have been a Khalil Davis sack Khalil Davis got through um I think on the right side of the line uh then you had a really really good play and I can't believe this guy's still here I'll be honest when this guy got the contract that he got a couple of years ago I feel like there was a lot of animosity SL dismay for him and rightfully so I mean you had the POs you had Bill O'Brien uh running the squad uh so Eric Murray they were paying him like he was a quality starting safety you didn't know what he was going to do you heard Bill O'Brien say you have to have versatility um but Eric Murray made a hell of a play um brevan Jordan came uh from the slot the left side started out on the right side in motion um came across the field had a catch had some open field Eric Murray punched it out um you know we talked a lot about the safety position last year um but there is a uh there is a very very very big depth problem at safety there was last year uh when you lost both of your backup safeties on consecutive plays one of them being Eric Murray uh Eric Murray can can do a lot of things uh for this squad and he had a hell of a play perhaps would have been the play of practice uh had this not happened uh but first there was one more play before for it um brevan Jordan was on the sideline heavy pressure uh CJ found him kind of got pressured a little bit might have been a sack CJ actually fell down briefly I think he kind of got his got his uh feet Tangled with uh with one of the linemen uh got up and then we had an interception uh the play of practice uh Jeff Auda uh you had Ford back at safety Ford tipped it Auda caught it on the sidelines perfect uh interception by him um looked like he stayed in bounds uh and he got really excited about it uh so that was the play of practice uh Jeff Auda uh but the big news uh today no Joe Mixon larmy tunel still on the side same with uh Andrew Beck same with Christian Harris cam Acres was on the field uh no team reps will be interesting to see if maybe they try to mix him in tomorrow uh with the fans I'm just amazed that someone can tear both Achilles uh and even be able to walk because I can't say that I would be able to do the same thing it seems like he I think I think he's he's doing it at the right time because they got that new uh Achilles uh surgery so it'll be interesting to see what this looks like shout out to everyone who's going to get their first look at what's going on with the Texans tomorrow uh with the fans in the stands traffic's going to be a little bit heavier I'm GNA have to get up a little bit early earlier and get my ass out there but I will be out there the pads on tomorrow um in front of uh the fans those are your day four OBS night stream tonight at 10:30 be on the lookout for the Stefan Diggs uh Podium critic we'll go through everything that dig said he was awesome um so you don't want to miss that also got to ask him about what Cole Beasley said about him uh when he was right here in the locker room um so it's a really really good time uh to to cover this squad this was a sloppy is practice uh but it was fun and whether it's sloppy uh whether it's not all always remember when it comes to this text and stuff we're all in it together appreciate y'all for coming through we were 200 plus deep uh today that number is only going to grow I think we're gonna be thousand deep on in postgame shows we kind of got there last year I think we might get to 2,000 deep days opinions to give we got takeways if it's up then it's up we number one you don't need to try your luck uhuh uhuh locker room yeah we in the locker room Texas talk yeah you know what we about to do localize every angles what we really do we The Source we the post of the city too [Music]
