MLB Network | Dan Plesac reacts Aaron Judge season statistic; Jazz Chisholm Jr return Yankees lineup

you would bring it on a Friday night did you feel the energy different on a Friday night in the big leagues definitely it was the weekend so you know especially a regly feel you know when you go and you have a big weekend series you know there you have to bring UA games yeah every Friday night we have a Friday night show Dan brings his a game I try to yeah he's always like funnier than normal crazier than normal you're going to do it again for us of course all right good what I do uh we have as many games as you could ever want uh in the big leagues take a look at the screen behind us what we do on this show we take you inside the park images inside the ballpark so even though the games aren't started yet why not go inside the park already let's go inside the park to the Bronx it's the Rockies against the Yankees you know and they P it throwing B in practice look at that right he can't use a pickoff move though it's BP one of the great pickoff moves of all time the rocky making their first trip to Yankee Stadium since 2019 so it's kind of an odd matchup but everyone want wants to see Aaron judge he's not in the cage right now what Aaron judge is doing is otherworldly he is the best hitter on the planet right now and sitting next to one of the greatest hitters of all time I heard you talking about Aaron judge yesterday it's the combination of extreme power patience and on base and batting average Albert that's setting him apart that's pretty unbelievable what he's doing hisorical year you know for hang I mean he's on Pace right now to he 61 Hummer I mean he didn't over 336 and 48 Jacks and a bunch of RBI I mean but he's in a good place right now he he feels like if he can take a swing and make contact is going to be out of the ballpark so balanced I think yesterday I did a little breakdown the things that I saw from few years back I think his hands are a little bit away from his body and he's more comfortable he's standing up a little bit taller and unbelievable year and we said it early why are they continue to piss to this guy it's incredible J Chism is back he's off the I he'll be back playing Third Base he's been terrific in less than 20 games he's already got seven home runs he'll go back to Third Base a position he's actually played pretty well at he's sitting behind Jean Carlos stand so they don't have the Lefty righty Lefty righty thing going yet but we'll see if jazz moves up later uh the thing is crazy about Aaron judge J you know the last time it's been a while since we've seen a guy hit 47 or more home runs and hit 330 or higher in a year do you the last hitter to do that is he sitting on the desk yeah he's right here that's a yeah it was yeah you know from a from a pitcher standpoint I'm going to tell you this like I've been a fan of baseball since my my rookie year 1986 what makes judge what makes Albert Pool so lethal from a pitcher's perspective there are guys that hit home runs but there are guys that hit home runs but they have holes in their swings those two guys you're looking at right there are like a pitcher nightmare because you know that you can make a good pitch and they could still rifle the ball to right field and what these two guys have and had was ability to hit the ball from from Line to Line with power and with authority that's what makes it so dangerous thatat cast Power by Google Cloud now Albert had the ability to hit it out anywhere uh Aaron judge has a ballpark that's friendly to right field so he has taking advantage of that we see it there but would you say this spray chart his ability to Homer to any direction is what's making him not just a great home run hitter but a great hitter and that's why Mak saw dangers you know he knows that he knows that he can hit the ballpark from right to left any ballpark there's no any ballpark on this Earth they can hold in in the field so he knows that so he trusts the ability putting himself in a good balance and putting a great swing and then you can say yeah junke Stadium short Porsche but if you look at the spread the breaks the split on the row he has 25 Jacks and hitting 325 so this guy can hit and he's hot putting himself right now probably the best hitter in the game and he's the reason why the Yankees are in first place a game and a half ahead of the can I tell you one thing we were playing the Cardinals I was with the Diamondbacks and to Woody Williams for game I knew I wasn't going to face Alber because I was a lefty so I walked up to Woody and I go hey this PO ho is see the real thing I go what are you what are you doing he goes prey that's how he said prey okay so he throws a fast ball a cutter a slider and a prayer yeah so what what do I what do I do he goes pray that's really good I'm glad we squeeze that in let's see if the Baltimore Orioles can have their prayers answered and get a winning streak and regain first place in the East they've lost two in a row the Yankees have won two in a row they're a game and a half out of first place now that they welcome the Houston Astros to Town the Astros have won 12 of their last 15 games the Astros feel good about their chances in the ALS Dan do you feel good about the chances of the Baltimore Orioles who's ER collectively as a team has been over six the last week they sent down the guy they just acquired Trevor Rogers after four bad starts they got him from the Marlins they're sending Cade Povich a lefty to the mound who's one- six on the season you look worst starter ER in the American League since July 6 it's the Angels the Rangers two teams are not expecting to see in the playoffs and the Orioles are you concerned with the Orioles pitching uh very concerned um yesterday Corbin Burns he's had a couple his last few have not been very good Zack leelin who they acquired at the Dr L line has been their best pitcher the last three or four weeks he's on the now very very concerned I love this lineup they can hit uh they're going to have to hit the rest of the way I thought the advantage that the Orioles had say going into June I thought their pitching was in better order than everybody else but that's not the case right now and listen there's a lot of baseball left to be played but I would be surprised if the Orioles win the East I think the Yankees are going to win the East I just don't think right now the Orioles they're starting pitching is good enough to get them there to the wire this month Albert uh Corbin Burns ER rates over eight that's concerning is it not it is concerning you know and if you look at I think we were talking early about the strikeouts you know has gone down as well so but I think it's a guy that he knows if there's nothing going on with his arm he's going to figure it out I mean tough Ting last night but I think the best thing for the Oreos you know they still have six weeks if I'm the last week of the Season I'm concerned but they need to turn things around they'll lean on a former Nebraska corn husker Kade Povich he's 24y old Lefty third rounder back in 2021 so it's the stros Orioles game most you're going to see here in MLB Network we'll set that up in about an hour to get you out to Baltimore uh let's go out to Boston the red so one two in a row they're trying to claw their way into that wild card they three and a half games behind the Kansas City Royals The Royals are tied with the twins for that second AL Wild Card they welcom in the Arizona Diamondbacks who've won three in a row surging they've won seven of 10 to only four games out of first place bying the Los Angeles Dodgers why well they've got a couple pleasant surprises there's no doubt Jake McCarthy's been red hot last 13 games hitting over 350 there's this young catcher named Adrien de Castillo who's been awesome 361 average in his first 10 major league games but there's one straw that stirs the drink and it's the guy coming into the year was supposed to be the centerpiece and catel Marte awesome veteran but it is this guy Albert Corbin Carroll is coming out of his season long Slumber and is finally playing like the Superstar they expected he just turned 24 on Wednesday 12 home runs 39 runs scored his last 37 games when you're this young and you have this much pressure for him to start to come out of it has to make the Dbacks feel good 100% And he's coming out at the good time you know when they needed it and I think you know it is the pressure you know being so young and putting so much but I know that thing that you need to look at he's he's shorter I know he has some problems with his shorter maybe last year you will see like he was tened you know to take couple of those S so it's good to see him back and swing it by the way that he does and to see you saw Jake McCarthy uh jump out of the cage when you have other guys that get hot Dan and the pressure just isn't on this one player yes that could probably help this player Corbin Carroll break out of a slum no question about it and I think the Diamondbacks they surprised a lot of people I think they surprised the three of us last year to get through Philadelphia they had to go to Philadelphia Wing G six and seven on the road at cson bank and I think I don't want to say they got off a little bit of the shaky start but they did but sooner or later and they're starting to play like this team right now they're getting confidence again can they catch the Dodgers I don't think they're going to catch the Dodgers but I think they're going to scare him the kid pitching tonight Ryan Nelson's been very good his last nine starts 3 and0 with the 2.73 y r Diamond Back for their fourth in a row taking on the Boston Red Sox more in this game com up a little later let's go out to Atlanta the Braves are welcoming in the Washington Nationals this is going to be the first of a three- game set at truest Park Chris Sail gets it against McKenzie Gore who's one of those emerging lefties he leads the national league and walks but we still think he's got a high upside Chris S is a veteran that right now has to be the heavy front runner to win his first ever sa young amazing to say that right because I think six weeks ago you'd say it's probably going to be Zack wheeler uh but this guy he's been one constant and I know that Braves fans they've had a barrage of injuries if there's one guy they can ill for to lose the rest of the year is this guy right now he is pitching like an ace again he's striking people out and more importantly Greg he's going deep into games look at the wins 14 the ra and the strikeouts 187 strikeouts I mean he's been incredible he's showing no signs right now of slowing down I don't know if they're going to catch the Phillies I hope get a chance to rest him maybe give him a start here and there and get him ready for the postseason but he's been amazing and he's been the main reason why he know Zuna why they're still above water and what's crazy Albert you faced this guy he was in his prime so let me ask you does he look like vintage in Prime Chris sale right now yes 100% this guy and it's great to see him a great guy I don't know if you being around awesome dude so it's good to see him pitching well I'm just really surprised you know he hasn't woned saion but this is might be the year but the way that he's throwing this year I think I I saw last week he was talking about a Chena that he's using a little bit more but that slider I mean is it's one of the best slider that I see from the left side he throws a slider in the other side and you think it's going to be a ball and it's come down when he throws it inside at you it's just unbelievable something like Randy Johnson used to do from the left side but they need this guy healthy and if he can stay healthy the bra can scare people you know if they squeezing into the postseason they have so many injuries in their lineup it's the four headed monster in the rotation that makes you feel good headline by Chris Sail then you got Charlie Morton Ronaldo Lopez has been incredible ra barely over two and then Max freed so the four starters they have with a back end of the bullpen with Jimenez leading to Rell glacius which they have been great can they overcome the lack of offense they have right now Albert because Marcel ozun is awesome we love him they just got Michael Harris back they're hoping to get ozie ales back in a couple weeks but no Austin Riley more than likely for the rest of the regular season I don't know if they have enough thump to hold off the Mets the Giants and maybe the Cardinals yeah but as you know you know in the postseason they just need to get there in the postseason you know and then can tell you it's about pitching offense is almost it's just being historical like that always like the offense goes quiet and then the pitcher takes over so I think they got enough to get in h can they win everything I don't know Bas was crazy but I think they had enough uh to to squeezing and to scare uh people in the playoff the Mets are game and a half behind the Atlanta Braves you feeling confident the Braves will be in October yes I I think what Albert touched on I just think top to bottom if you believe in pitching is going to get you there I think the pitching is going to win out for the Braves if s doesn't get hurt the rest of the way I think they're going to get and also you need to count that they have veteran guys they've been there before they know how to do it so there's like no Panic you know like we need to figure out how to get there they've been there before they have won award series they have won Playoff game they're six games out of first place and their string of six consecutive NL division titles could come to an end the Philadelphia Phillies six games ahead of the second place Braves all right uh we're going to wrap up our a block this we call it in TV our first segment going inside the park to T-Mobile pun in Seattle we need to talk about this the Giants against the Mariners and I I I was shocked hear the news of Scott service being dismissed as manager because I I felt that Scott service and Jerry depoto were like hand inand and just a couple nights ago I was on TV with Harold Reynolds and Dan Pac and I said guys this offense is not getting anything done should Jerry depoto and Scott service be worried and Harold Reynold said no they're not going anywhere and Harold a former Marin are great You' think that he was confident he knows what he's talking about he's not alone I think a lot of people were surprised to see Scott service dismissed were you uh surprised yes because of the connection between the two but if you're trying to salvage a season it's now or never uh they they got off to such a great start to think that they had a 10-game lead in this division in the middle of June and the Astros at one time where 14 games under 500 they've given that all away five and a half games back entering play tonight they need to turn around and they need to turn around like right now they can ill afford another 10 game slide where they go three and seven or 2 and eight if they do that they're done Dan Wilson played 12 years for the Mariners he's in their Hall of Fame he was working uh as a special assignment coordinator in the minor league system for the Seattle Mariners he is beloved there in Seattle if there was a knock on Jerry depoto early on was that he sort of pushed away the Legacy Mariners he didn't incorporate those guys into the day-to-day operation of the organization now here he is dismissing his longtime friend because him and Scott service go back to their days in Anaheim and he's he's going to give not even an interim job there's no interim tag to Dan Wilson he is the manager of the Seattle Mariners so he's leaning into the history of this franchise with a very popular guy in Dan Wilson do you think that's the right move and what do you think sort of obstacles it may be in Dan Wilson's way as he takes this over I think Dan Wilson moving in I think you know he's probably having a meeting today and I think he needs to lean on the veteran guys that are in there the move that they made over the last couple of weeks you know the guys that they bring in and say hey guys our season is not over yes we're not in the place that we wanted to be but our season we can still save our season and get into the postseason so I think he needs to lean on those veteran guys that he has and then just try to do the best you know to turn team around but when you have a buying average as a team like they had I mean that's that get definitely get you fire same way as then I mean was I surprised yes because the relationship you know they were there and I also hear that the way they the he find out which it was by a test that that's not right no no that's that's not good at all no I mean I I texted police hey man we're not playing golf today and he wanted a face to face oh I did I was don't tell him we're not teeing it off you know what though think about this a couple years ago remember when the Phillies made a change let Joe dardy go and they hired Rob Thompson remember it can change now I now I'm not saying that that's going to be the case here maybe they need a new voice maybe they need to shake some things up there I know this this is a way too talented team to be swinging and missing not putting the ball in play and hitting for the batting average that they're hitting in something has to change and maybe Dan Wilson can unlock de that interesting because year one managers are like in Vogue right now think of Mike schil year one with the pad R has been good Pat Murphy year one manager with the Brewers they're sitting in first Ste vot and Steven vote thank you that's my hook to go to break [Music] oh [Music] [Music] I [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] I
