College Football MTSU vs. Liberty

[Music] [Music] welcome to Murphysboro Tennessee and Johnny red Floy Stadium home of the Middle Tennessee blue Raiders and Raider fans have been clamoring to get this one started all week and this is the kind of game college football fans love because they don't have to wait for the weekend for this Conference USA Showdown as we'll see the winners of three straight the Liberty Flames taking on the winners of three straight the Middle Tennessee blue Raiders for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Po and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return so the Liberty Flames offense is on the field for the first time today and these guys involve everybody in the passing game and none more prominent than this big fella and the quarterback knows he's going to be under duress in this game so who do you look for the tight end there aren't many better than this guy no and just big bodies that you can miss a little bit high and it really doesn't matter but over the middle of the field closer throws so nice to have a security blanket with a great tight end well I think the ball just got on the receiver so quickly he took his time working his route and by the time he got his head around ball was already there and he just wasn't able to stab it after the incompletion it's second and 10 from their own 25 one back in the back field and they'll give it to him few things on offense as reliable as a tough power back as he plows his way ahead to the 33 third down and they'll need two on this initial Drive of the [Applause] game they'll try to pick it up on the ground they were all over him nowhere to go as that third down play turned into a disaster and the Flames will bring the punt team onto the field having to kick it away after a three and out it's not what they had in mind running it back it's Kelly he gets it up to the 34 yd line before he stopped and that's where the offense will set up shot the blue Raiders offense will go to work for the first time today as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the field keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of them yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up and big games like this and he got smacked just as he released the pass it's incomplete a third and long coming up here back to pass it's battiato he's right on Target and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup wow what great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offensive success and that's why teams drill third Downs so much in practice well how about this uh offense you think of this offense you think of throwing in the football and top 10 passing in all of college football but the defense knew something right like you could tell they were going to come out and run the football they brought out the goal line brought in some big boys and really was ready for the run on that play all down at the 38 yd line and a big pick up of 15 yd there on First and 10 from the 38 pre- snap motion quarterback trying to get a [Applause] read a strike downfield touchdown Middle Tennessee one a catch and run for six and wouldn't I start for this offense the throw game getting working getting the touchdown pass this qu back getting a little bit of conf nice start for this offense and they add the extra point to finish the drive about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown fielded In The End Zone it's great that gamble did not pay off as they bring him down at the 12 yd line Liberty takes over and the Flames offense ready to go to work the last time we saw this offense we had to look quick it was a three and out Jesse he just had no rhythm in that last drive so someone's going to have the express way is wide open and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop that last chunk plays one that'll really put a drive on the move it's first and 10 from the 43 gets it past the marker on the move at the 30 and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge huge play yeah and when I got a guy like that at QB I'm going to give him the ball early in atin I'm going to let this dude do him cuz give him multiple options he makes the right decisions you could tell but in the end he's got speed playmaker I want to find ways to continue to get him the ball let him make decisions and make plays like this 11 [Applause] y going to work on second down in the red zone as still some ground to cover to pick up that first [Applause] down right back to the well the ball pops out well the offense ought to go buy a lottery ticket because that ball somehow bounced right back to them they'll keep it man what a break great job falling on the football great job having some awareness the running back coughed it up but teammates there to pick him up fallowing the football listen it's lucky but it's good job by the offense looking to throw it's Salter [Applause] takes the easy throw in the flat he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage now on fourth down they'll settle for a field goal try and it's no good he missed it after that Miss still a seven-point game guys let's see what the blue Raider offense can get going that last touchdown Drive was Surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are throwing the football and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my Playmakers make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation keep it on the ground draged down to the turf but not before getting the first down and first down for the offense okay here's this offense with a fresh set of downs come on run the gun the running back has it you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points fires into traffic intercepted bringing it back the 10 touchdown Liberty what a great play by the defense and paying it off with the interception return this time it's the defense finding ways to put points on the board there is nothing better than being a Defender seeing that ball in the end zone your eyes get big as saucers go jump on that puppy secure it get you a touchdown will start the return inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the Middle Tennessee offense will go back to work the big thing now don't get rattled by that last fires a full and now it's picked off and he's wrapped up after a solid return on the pick what a gamechanging play by this defense nice job you got them backed up in their own territory coming coming out now you force the turnover set your offense up with some great scoring field position he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions dances away from the heat a really nice run and game and he gets down to avoid taking punishment yeah think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised that initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it touchdown fles reeled it in and just made the house call offense did exactly what it's supposed to do with a start like that one when you're set up with that field position you're thinking touchdowns you're not thinking field goals that's exactly what the offense does takes advantage of great field position and they did tack on the extra point by the way he knocked it right down the middle almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown looking for an alley from inside his own 10 makes a move oh what Vision he's going to get loose he won't get him it's a touchdown boy nothing electrifies the stadium quite like a return for a touchdown it's always so exciting cuz you don't see him very often you got to go so many yards 80 90 yards at a time what a great job by the returners showing the speed providing the electricity there's a reason they're all jacked up it's because of that awesome kickoff return and they desperately wanted to attempt a return but decided not to instead they'll take the Touchback Liberty takes over the flame sending the offense back onto the field how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best man he's Off to the Races oh my goodness he still moving ripped off a huge chunk play on that one as he gets the first down before he steps out of bounds here's this offense with a fresh set of downs go wants to throw on first down the Shor hands it's Lee he's stopped at the 32 picks up 10 on the play and gets the first down and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two they're down to the 32 yd line on First and 10 looking to move it through the air quickly to the tight end they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker and here comes the offense on second down scanning the field it's Salter fires to the right and it was worth going for a chunk play but the long pass is incomplete that's an example of the offensive coordinator trying to be aggressive and trying to take a shot now the offense isn't able to click on that play but moving ahead in the second half it's important they continue to dial up these big plays you want to stay aggressive you want to keep testing the second shotgun snap wants to throw it on third he's got him this time tackled but he has a first down the Flames come to the line with a new set of downs 29 phly they'll throw it from the Red Zone and he intercepts it he'll try to take it back he's at the 40 he's at the 20 and he will roll into the end zone t down blue Raider what about the speed that defender on the return He showing you Reese like listen it's not just wide receivers that can do that I can take this through the house I got some moves watch this unbelievable job flipping the field offense about to score defense makes the huge plays gets CL out of it they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it coming out with it it's great they make the Stop and that's how the first quarter will end at the end of the quarter guys it's Middle Tennessee on top more importantly we have an early barn burner here both teams firing on all cylinders as our stats will show you if you like offense this second quarter is probably going to be a game for you back at of to open the quarter with this first down play they'll crank up this drive with a pass good timing on the quick out and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up one of the things that makes this guy so dangerous is how good he is after the catch if he's got any space around him he's able to burst he's able to make people miss and get extra yards for his op the ball's threee oh looks as if the defense got it oh and it's a hit like that that will absolutely light up the sideline light up the stadium change the momentum and help you win a football game because that hit is what caused that fumble here's the hand off he's there to make the stop great team defense on that but play everybody doing their job people winning their one on ones D lineman staying in their gaps linebackers and DBS filling you just can't do it better looking downfield it's vattiato using the quick game really nice job there by both guys the throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of down they're looking for an advantage in the running game to the right and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making a good run great job finishing with his backs got on first down now looking at a second and two from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back Russell to the ground after picking up the first down well there we go we finally see some life in this offense running the football nice game to pick up the first down got to get more of that going moving forward cuz they have not run it one he's looking to throw it out of the back field he's open that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend this defense is going to have to be careful not only do they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile backat and he's knocked down but not before moving the chain and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by four I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark a first down run on the doorstep and they try the middle of this Stout defense and they rise to the challenge on the listen the offensive coordinator's best friend in the red zone is the running game make guys commit near the line of scrimmage so I can throw behind this defense is good but I'm going to challenge them I'm I'm going to try to be the more physical team I love the play call I think he keep running the football and stay physical and after getting it right on the edge they'll try to punch it in on third down trying to pound their way in and the defense holds firm no pickup at all on that play and it's not a surprise who they gave the football to when you get down in this area they're going to call his name the physical back they're going to give him the football they're going to use their identity of physicality and Run game down here in the red zone no hesitation from this head coach he will go for it on Fourth and goal from the [Applause] one he'll try to run it in just hammer it with this running back again and he noses his way into the end zone make no mistake about it bring in the beef right bring in all the extra offensive l in the tight end you know what we're going to do we're going to line up and we are going to smash fourth and goal situation they are successful playing a little bully ball with the big boys up front and no chance at a return here they'll start this drive if they're own 25 Liberty takes over and the Flames offense ready to go to work now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like defensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of probably the toughest call on the play sheet third and long Ball's at the 25 looking for a man it's Salter and he just throws it away on third down I don't think you can give up on a play like that and the Flames line up to PL it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and he'll work his way on the return out to the 35 yd line before he stopped let's see what the blue Raider offense can get going real really good balance on that last Drive they mixed it up all over the place Jesse yeah how nice too to have the defense on their heels because at this point they don't know what's coming at him they had problems stopping everything that last Drive D so I think this defense would come back with a little more aggressiveness I mean they let them have what they wanted now they got to dictate to this offense a little bit more catch in the middle it's Stewart oh and the defense in Chase mode and they finally get him down at the 35 they just dialed up one big play Let's see if they've got another one on First and 10 from the 35 they knock him down inside the 30 at the 29 it's a pick up of six coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four he's looking to throw and he had it for a second but it just dribbled out of his hands as a quarterback this is going to be a very tough game you're going up against one of the top 20 units in the entire country they know who your primary target is they're going to be keying on him just like they did that last time forcing the incompletion third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal e e e e e e e e e e for e e good that three in their back pocket thought he had it and couldn't get it through the upright he missed it missed the field goal but still a two touchdown lead at 14 [Applause] Liberty takes over the flame sending the offense back onto the field getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game and the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions Dave that they're able to score some points so you got to call your best stuff in this two-minute situation and and such a good opportunity to cut into a one- score game create that momentum get some good juices going for the second half because obviously you know you built yourself a little bit of a deficit you need some good things to happen and it needs to happen on this possession that kind of play will put a jolt into a drive it's first and 10 from just inside the 40 he's got him in the flat he's brought down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up well the defense was ready coming into this one for this running back being a factor in the pass game that time they were draped all over him as soon as he caught the ball he went down for L [Applause] yards good job to toss that ball out of bounds and avoid the [Music] loss they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and that ball is picked off looking for more room he's inside the 40 at the 20 and they capitalized not only on the pick but on the great return to improve this field position not only did they get the interception but they're able to get a huge return remember this team practices this all week right once they get the and he takes it in for the score touchdown Middle Tennessee they want to finish the season strong and manner they doing that here in this week 11 performance and the extra point is true and the lead ballooms to 21 and the running back gets a second rushing touchdown of the game you want to continue to feed this guy you could tell he's got a knows for the End Zone knows how to get in there knows how to make things happen Liberty takes over and the Flames offense ready to go to work boy they've been caught in a buzz saw here in the first half but maybe a chance to carry some momentum into the break here it all comes down to this drive right here ree obviously this offense hasn't had everything go right for them in the first half but here's an opportunity David to execute some plays put some throws together and generate some points and you're right Jesse and this offense needs to start now like we got to get some points on the board create some momentum and continue cuz you've dug yourself a significant hole the defense in a most benevolent move giving the offense a new set of downs the short hands it's Moy a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half nice Patience by the quarterback here working against Zone coverage he was allowing his receiver an opportunity to find that open space in the defense before pulling the trigger back to throw it's [Applause] stter got the Quick Pass he's run out of bounds but he's got enough to move the sticks nice catch just past the first down marker so this drive stays alive nice job by the quarterback and receiver moving closer to the Red Zone it's at the 27 on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they throw it again lasso lasso on second down just keeps firing finds his tight end and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play and that's why QBs love their tight ends so much right especially when they're athletic cuz they make short throws turn into long games because of his ability after the catch it's so unique and special he is dominant in this off defense and the third down pass is incomplete and this guy has been so important to this defense the way he plays on the back end top 10 in the nation in interceptions he just has a feel and reads the quarterback size he almost picked that last one off splits the uprights right down the middle and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor's in the studio boys if it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check the this out Cincinnati is running away with this one right now it's kind of felt like that old Bearcat has been crowd surfing all game they're up 14 over West Virginia any big developments in this one we've got you covered with the best studio team in the business gentlemen thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final just over 30 seconds to go in the half they've got it first and 10 grabbed in the middle it's Sherman they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down looking at a second and short now he LOF it high and deep down the left side and the incomplete pass taking a shot on second down and they'll be left with a third down trying to pick up a first down on Third and short they'll ride the running back here they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down they'll immediately call timeout that's got to feel good if you're the offense because third down has been a bit of a problem all season long but you love the way they're executing at this point finding ways to keep the chains moving he's going to let one fly down the middle and that is interception number three on the day a dangerous coverman and a dangerous Return Man after the pick as he gets it all the way to the 44 yd line he just Johnny on the spot that now his second interception of the game doing a great job reading the quarterback's eyes and he has just been in the right place at the right time making plays looking to pass it's Salter throws toward the end zone it's incomplete and they tried to finish this quarter with a bang and couldn't quite connect just about set for the second half kickoff from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Middle Tennessee offense will go back to work they get ready to start this third quarter think how big the lead might be if they' taken care of the ball well the game might be over Reese but if you're on defense right now you've gotten a couple turnovers early and you're saying okay we're going to need to keep this up we got to stay aggressive for us to have a chance to win this game but we believe we can do it yeah you you've already done it so of course you're going to believe it keep playing fast keep playing physical and then tell your offense hey we need a little help over here can you help us out and put some points on the board and he's tripped up but not before picking up the first down looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out with a first down they'll snap it from the 32 Jack they'll try the Run not much he could do there does pick up two to the 34 that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting them on the ground take away that run game make him one dimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense he finds his man makes the grab and he's dragged down and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy completion and they got the completion but still looking at a third down looking to throw for it quickly out to the tight end nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down that is going to drive this defensive for it's a lot of DCs they focus a ton of energy on how their unit performs on third down and in the Red Zone this defense gives up a couple more third down conversions like that [Music] now they've moved it just inside the 40 first and 10 from the 39 out of the gun the inside handoff looking for a crease and the defense doing a great job committing to the run when you commit to the run like this obviously you can give up some plays in the passing game but you got to stop the run first motion by the back forces the defense to adjust and that defense doesn't allow a cut back and they get him out of bounds after a short gain that didn't bust for a long one but now the third down becomes very manageable he not third in eternity now the whole Playbook short passing game long passing game all of it's available gets it out quickly they make the stop but this sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down defenses throughout the week study every third down situation you got to be ready for what they do how they do it and then be able to adjust great job by the off so far having success and he finds Some solid space makes a nice game before the defense is able to stop him man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out operating in the Red Zone here on second down to the air it's bati finds a soft spot in the middle that completion will take it close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six quarterback dropping back understanding I'm getting Zone coverage all I got to do is be a little bit patient manipulate that defense a little bit my wide receiver runs that drag and I get the first they'll try to move the chains on the ground they make the stop at the 5 yd line but they've got it first and goal and that's so tough as a defense because they only got to get inches but I got to find a way to somehow get a knock back stop the running back's feet right there I couldn't do it he touchdown NTSU and the Ping has started on to attempt the try follow the block the offensive VI will take you to the hallelu and I tell you what most of the time Rea requires a little bit of skill to find that hole you know Slither through a little crack that was not a crack that was wide open didn't take a lot of vision cuz the blocking was outstanding he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Liberty takes over with the flame sending the offense back onto the field hand off to the lone back didn't find a lot of room let's give him two out to the 20 and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D lineing and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle back in the open field trying to move the sticks on third down from the gun wants to [Applause] pass didn't have much of a choice just had to throw that one away it'll be fourth down the flame send out the punt unit third and short like that on your own side of the field you're just looking for a quick hitter you're trying to get the ball out of your hand quickly but the timing completely off there for the offense and the ball Falls incomplete he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on it let's see what the blue Raider offense can get [Music] going power football with the Run he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three yeah and listen the offense has had their way and they've had so much success and so much production but listen at least the defense got a rep you know maybe this gets you some a spark maybe this gets you some energy maybe we'll see a little bit more life in this defense yeah they may not win the game but I think this defensive coaching staff at this point based on how this game has gone they're just trying to find things to build off of maybe that's something they can point to as they get ready for their next opponent of things they did right and things that they got to do more consistently moving and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down they bring the punter onto the field now first time we've seen their punt team this [Applause] afternoon bringing it back it's gray he'll put that return to a stop at the 33 but the offense set up in pretty good field position and now the offense will come onto the field [Applause] [Music] again off play action on first down feeling the heat as he lets it go wide open he makes the catch touchdown Liberty and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call and I think in the pre- snap I think both of these guys were on the same page they had a look defensively that let them know we can pitch this thing way down the field I'm going to go run under and make a big play for him yeah and when I'm the receiver I'm like I'm open right I'm I'm going straight down the field throw me the football I got the speed I can beat guy you can tell they've done that so much in practice they knew it was second nature and they executed it perfectly and he added the extra point that's the kind of Drive everybody loves oh see quarterback One Snap put it in the end zone lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Middle Tennessee offense will go back to work boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here P yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this 6yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four going to run it it's Wilkins and he's got enough for the first down it'll be at the 35 and you know big chunks like this don't happen unless you commit to the Run game you got to get those big boys up front into the game understanding I want to knock people off the football create some holes like you do here for my running back make the game easy can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down and finally the defense is able to get some pressure on this quarterback theyve been trying all game long different ways to affect him weren't able to get there but on that play because of the pressure it affected his accuracy and that's why the ball Falls incomplete to the air it's basato this time on target he knew exactly where he wanted to go with that one and they've got enough for the first down nice route there by the tight end making it real easy for his quarterback to find an easy completion okay ready it'll be a first down from the 49y line let's go they're going to run it shakes off the tackler they'll pick up four second and Six coming it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second down time winding down in the quarter as they come to the line looking to pass on second down quarterback extends the play kept it he past the marker they get him on the ground and that'll be the final play of this third period at the end of the quarter guys it's Middle Tennessee on top let's take a quick look at the national rankings to see how this playoff race is shaping up one more quarter to go and it looks as if we are ready to play they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first down they'll go to the ground and look this guy has some serious moves and he tried all of them and still didn't get [Music] loose didn't get much on first down it's second and [Music] [Applause] nine off the play fake slides away nowhere close on that one as he got drilled trying to deliver the football and now they face third down if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of [Applause] momentum catch in the middle it's Stewart he's got enough for the first down they'll spot him at the 24 yd line fresh set of downs after the completion out of the shotgun they go to the ground and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage got stuffed on first down it's second and and 10 all kinds of room to throw that one in there so close to that end zone he can almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense defense is backed up shadow of the goal POS trying to defend their own End Zone didn't get much done on that run he'll fight his way out and maybe maybe pick up a yard got stopped on first down they'll try it again from the two on second and goal he carries again he's got it down to the one yd line right on the doorstep of per they've moved it right to the edge and they need one more yard for the touchdown on third down the give touchdown Middle Tennessee and The Stomping has commenced they give themselves a little more cushion as they try to reel off their fourth straight win this defense is going to have to do a better job being physical that's two rushing touchdowns they've now allowed they have got to be better close to the line of scrimmage and it'll be a Touchback the ball will come out to the 25 yd line Liberty takes over and the Flames offense ready to go to work they torched this defense with an explosive passing play for a score last time out let's see if they go right back at him they'll rip off eight on that play it's second and two as a tight end if you're going to be good in the passing game you've got to be able to feel the windows when defenses Play Zone coverage and he did a really good job of that right there he didn't rush he didn't hurry he took his time found the soft spot and gave his quarterback an easy place to throw the football firing to the right complete brought down at the 47 but not before he ripped off 15 and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down they'll throw it on first down quickly complete they make the stop but not before they do their work up top and pick up a first down and a big key on that throw to the slot receiver guys is putting the ball out in front the location of the throw is what helped that guy get extra yards after the catch looking to the big tight end and the physical play there forces the incompletion on first down and now now on second down for this offense easy they keep attacking through the air got his man Powers through the defender and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain well look this quarterback is struggled a little bit in this game with interceptions maybe was being too greedy early on that time made a real good decision I'll tell you what that's a nice catch by the running back cuz that ball's in the air a long time you're throwing it all the way out to the flat like that you look like a receiver making that cat catch and getting extra young yeah third and short they choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board on fourth down trying to find his man makes the catch it's great excellent job working through the air there finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down you got to have better tackling in the back end on defense the guy didn't have the first once he had the ball in his hand but because you missed the tackle they've now got a fresh set of downs and the defense they' got him at the 27 this quarterback has been under duress all game long he's one of the best in the country and he's used to having his way he's the one who's used to dictating to opposing defenses but that has not been the case in this game here we are late he's still under pressure taking a sack there they make the stop but not before he takes a chunk out of what they need to move the sticks I want to get my running backs the ball in space as much as possible and sometimes it doesn't work in the running game but I can throw it to them I can try to create some space out wide dump him the football let him make some catches and see if I can't get some big plays out of went to the running game on third down and picked up five but still a couple of yards short it's Fourth and two no sign of the punt team as they will go for it and try to move those chains alert alert the give and the run on fourth down he's brought down but there's a flag on the field let's see which way that's going to go holding off off we'll repeat the previous down but this time the offense has 10 more yards it has to cover down in the fourth quarter it's too late for empty possessions they'll go for it on fourth down b a little time lets it go that's reeled in it's great you always here run the route deep enough to get the first down but if you don't you better fight your way there and he did yeah nice job listen catch the football understand fourth and short the situation and then go get that first down don't dilly dally don't try to make a home run play get past the sticks nice job of understanding that situation at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the touchdown flames and they take it in for six more points this guy is officially a problem the second receiving touchdown of the game nice job by the offense dude if I've got a matchup I like continue to pick at it until they stop it and he tacks on the extra point the deficit is huge this one is all but over the they'll keep trying and line up for the onside kick few anxious moments there but the hands team through to its name as they make the grab and get the ball let's see what the blue Raider offense can get going e e e e e e e e for e e e e e ready the way they attacked the last time they had the ball mixing run and pass and winding up in the end zone Jesse that's why recruiting so important they've got weapons at every skill position on the field any of these guys is dangerous if they touch the football let's see what they do on this drive David and so Palmer I got to take away something I can't let them have everything and have success I got to be aggressive against the run or play for the pass I can't give them everything they'll run it to keep this clock grinding a confident tough efficient run gets it up to the 44 man that's the advantage of having a coaching staff that teach these players in this type of situation with the lead late in the game you want to stay in the field of play and keep the clock ticking they do that after that nice offense gets set for second down now the quarterback changing the original play call they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down unloads to the wide out another interception this guy just can't find his own players never had a chance to get rolling after the pick but he gives him the ball in Prime field position at the 40 Liberty takes over the flame sending the offense back onto the field it's caught at the 35 he's loose and they are are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made quick timeout call by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible fires into the end zone and he is finding wide open Defenders all over the field his third interception of the day the number one objective for a defense is to make the offense onedimensional well when they're trailing by this much late in the game they're onedimensional they have to pass the football we can bring more speed on the field you see it we know you're throwing the football nice break on the football nice interception this one's almost over after picking up a couple it's second and eight leaves it with the back now after that run there in pretty good shape at the 30 yard line it's a great play there by the defense stopping that run but now with less than a minute to go you got to use your time out you got to try and conserve as much clock as possible to give yourself a chance to win love to see these third down conversions on offense and they're out to their own 39 yd line he will take a knee and the defense can stop the clock one more time but this one is just about in the books when we get to the off season and they start having coaching clinics they're going to roll this game tape back to show both offenses dial it up and let it run I mean that's essentially what we saw in this game it didn't matter what either offensive coordinator was calling everything seemed to work through throwing the football in the intermediate passing game the rpos The Run game David this was just clinical offensive football and offenses have evolved so much they can do so many different things and they know how to use their Playmakers get speed and space make those big plays so that's why offenses are ahead of defenses in this game it was no different that's going to do it for us from here for
