Foley HS releasing students after lockdown and police response to incident - WPMI NBC 15

when did you first find out that something was wrong did your student call you um my husband called me I was on my way to work so it was early probably about 10:46 this morning MH I was headed to work and he called me and said there was something going on at the school and so I ran up here yeah and and have you been in what grade is your childhood she's in 10th Grade okay have you spoken with her I've spoken with her he's on the phone with her right now okay what has she told you has happened um she doesn't really know much they're right now they're calling the kids um they cleared the or they got the shooter they're um moving the kids from the the classrooms to the cafeteria and the gym and then they're allowing parents now to pick them up yeah and from what Foley police have released images of a gunman on campus were were false people were spreading some false information this morning that's got to just play into into your fears though when you when you see something like that you don't know what to believe definitely there was a parent who had a picture of um a child with a hoodie on with a gun with a full magazine clip in it and they said they took it um from right outside the classroom through a window yeah but I guess that's not correct I haven't heard I don't know yeah I don't know what what would you have lik to have seen differently this morning in terms of communication um just better communication in general text messages not just emails not everyone checks their emails but also the officers who are involved to be able to talk to the parents hey we got the shooter everything's you know um fine we'll be releasing them like what the next steps are process or is there even a shooter was this just a fight and they found a gun we don't know that's right of so parents are really just like panicked right now yeah we're all just you know we're all we all just got to hang tight you know I don't know what the situation is but we're all just going to have lockdown should have went we should have got text messages we should have got something just to hey kids are okay I believe you did I believe that that message went out but I guess just the particulars is what you would like to know more about yes yes the particulars okay oh I didn't even get a text message actually at all we didn't get I actually was um at a doctor's office and seeing the notification go across the TV screen oh okay yeah did you what was your first thought when you when you got when you heard about this um I mean kind of scared in a way you know cuz it's been going on and I mean understand with kids and all they're fighting and they're you know I mean I I mean it's it's normal but I mean for there well my daughter yeah my my daughter's there but what what grade's your daughter in she's in ninth grade 10th grade sorry 10th grade have you talked her no I haven't we don't she doesn't get a cell phone so I'm right now I don't know what's going on yeah yeah
