e e for live from beautiful Kors field here in Denver Colorado today the finale of this three-game weekend set the Atlanta Braves going up against the Colorado Rockies along with Chris Singleton I'm John chambi Matt Olen he's homered in five straight games some partner some can't miss at bats our way from him yeah and I find it interesting because watching him in batting practice he was trying to keep the ball in the ballpark hitting line drives the other way so many times those home runs are mistakes and I think he'd probably say half of the home runs he's hit lately have been mistakes because he's just trying to go Gap to Gap first pitch coming your way next just about set to go now our starting pitcher in this one and Antonio senella and singy it's Unique these days but he's more of a pitch to contact type of guy yeah Bo he doesn't rely too heavily on the strike out he knows he needs to miss barrels get some soft contact let the defense do work behind him I think a guy like that can keep a good Tempo don't give hitters time to adjust or think they can move through a ball game and you look up they're in line for quality start we'll see what he's got in this one and a pitch Ronald J at the plate now that's ball [Applause] one on the ground and he handles it himself for the out here's Brian scker line up for the Braves and a big factor for them in recent games Austin Riley he's near the top of the league in RB's and he's become a guy that they can count on to come through in big spots and he has not disappointed man pretty impressive top five in RBI in the National League Azie Al up to the plate ripped on the ground a second gathers and throws to First quick start to this afternoon's action two gone hey man four pitches two outs that is an excellent pace and now it's Matt Olsen's turn to H well in their win last game this guy came up with two home runs obviously trying to keep the roll going here in this one that one ripped and it's gone he sends it out of here that's his fourth home run of the series just like that they move in front it's one nothing and just like that his home run streak is up to six oh he's an absolute machine working really well at the plate right now he just can't miss every time he swings well he went up there o looking to do damage I think he had his sight set on that pitch he went and got it and circled the bases two outs nobody on now in for the Braves Austin Riley hard grounder into the outfield for a knock so a two out Knock keeps the inning alive everything came together perfectly for him right there he wasn't able to elevate it but he put a great swing on it right on time good balanced approach and just blasted it through the infield now here is Michael Harris swing and a miss strike one one run across in the frame so far and we're just getting started here in the top of the first and a good eye [Music] there my drive and that should be extra bases around second is Riley coming home he scores it's two nothing picks himself up in RBI man that feels so good to shoot an absolute the opposite way split the Gap and know that you got extra bases right off the bat that's the kind of thing hitters dream about when they're falling asleep at night so here's Murphy now not getting the results he's wanted at the played recently only two hits over the last five games popped up moving under this one brings it in for the third out but two runs for him and they jump ahead on to the bottom of the first it's the Braves two and the Rockies [Music] nothing back here with my pal singy and I'm on the mound now Charlie Morton base runners are tough to come by with him out there Chris yeah this guy's been real stingy man not allowing guys to play the game just keeping them at home play I mean just ridiculous someone mean he's dominating hits and a guy like this in the mound one of the elite starters in the game right now as he turns on the rubber with that good live arm delivers that one to First and he takes it himself for the out time to check out the Rockies lineup and so far this year this has not been a very good offense well in this day and age if you can't slog and get on base that Ops has to be at a certain level if you're going to produce runs give your pitchers an opportunity as they're facing tough offenses as well there's Chuck nasty's go you can do it that's in there and it's own and one Morton Bol time Allstar he throws a slurve a for seamer a change up a cutter and he works in a sinker rips that one to right and aunia able to make the grab batting third the first baseman noan two outs B is empty next to hit for the Rockies Nolan Jones this kid picked up in a trade a lot was offered and given to get him but he's got a real high ceiling a lot of pitchers have caught on to how good he is hitting the first pitch smart to avoid the zone right there ground ball left side throw on to Olen it's a one two three inning for the Rockies Rockies are down quietly they Trail it here two nothing and welcome back to the ballpark here's Jerry Kellick taking high in the draft he's had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you've got to produce at the big league level senella back to work first pitch swinging senella 29 years old and he was born in Venezuela swing a miss and it's nothing in two oh and two and there's a ball way inside sing he wasn't very sharp in the first got hit around a little bit just wasn't able to locate particularly well a lot of stuff for the fat part of the plate yeah boo he wasn't fooling anyone it's a tough place to be cuz it's not always obvious what adjustment need to be made sometimes it's location sometimes it's being too predictable sometimes you're tipping your pitches he's going to need to figure it out quickly though foul we'll see another payoff pitch kicks andand deals good plate appearance there able to take the walk a great back and forth and that it bad he had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow Boogie found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there I'll tell you right now I couldn't have done it David Fletcher now at the plate as he swings through strike one and he deals hard hit left field base hit throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody out well the last 10 games or so have been anything but fun at the pl for him so has to feel good nice line drive to the P side right there but he didn't spin off of it that's the key you still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that here's the pitcher Charlie Morton Corner infielders up on the grass expecting a buns right and there's the strike first and second no outs here in the third and final game of the series and that one got a piece of him there's no hiding in this spot Bas is loaded now and no more wiggle room for any more mistakes like that so the batting order turns over here's Ronald aunia Jr at the plate golden opportunity right here well this is a tough situation with the bases loaded but the healthiest mindset is just try to get outs one hitter at a time F back ourway and that's out of play you need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a pop up something but you got to make some pitches but if he can battle and get through this he can earn some points all loaded up dangerous hitter at the plate and another ball with a lay off that pitch down still two and two after the foul ball here comes a pitch center field Blackman settles underneath it drops into the glove Runner tagging from third and now the runner will score from third on a wild throw well right there he's definitely looking for more than just a with the B loaded and nobody out but'll take it now it's up to the guys coming up behind him to pick up the rest of those Runners on base two on one out Azie alz next up for the Braves he's 0 for one and he swings and misses and it's nothing in war sometimes being lucky is a swing and Miss if he makes contact with that pitch probably hits into a double play hard hit left side they put the tag on him what a double play that was inning over so a runon one hit no errors and a man left we go to the bottom of inning number two it's the Braves three and the Rockies nothing we head to the bottom of the second now it's the second baseman Brian McMahon [Music] and the pitch and takes low for ball one a three-oh lead is great but you can't get too comfortable got to stay aggressive keep attacking hitters try to cruise through this ball game the wind of the pitch right side alz tosses to first one up one down that's what a good Sinker designed to do get a guy to roll over a little bit hit the B ground kill some worms while you're at it and now it's Alias Diaz this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate Good Game caller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands out right through there for a strike you come into the game knowing that unless the ball's in the dirt or gets by him probably not going to steal anything today so that's where you want to get a little more aggressive on your secondary lead and hope that some base hits some slogs some home runs can come into play and that's down a base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out [Applause] single here's Chris Bryant now [Music] made it through theorm now you know we got a f God that's we that one's in there on and one Morton he's become known as a guy that's really tough to take deep and that is especially valuable today Chris when the ball's going out of the ballpark so much yeah Roy missed with a change up and that's ball one it's very important it's all about run prevention right so uh when you have that it's a plus but if you are going to give up the long ball you want the bases to be empty and that's where control and command really comes into play for a guy like this that one gets down for a hit batt the third BAS [Music] down the third Bas splits the plate o and one o and one one out Runners it first and second missed it's a good take and that's the strike out looking froz him with the heater at the knees just locked him up right there for the second out and that's anat he's probably going to be thinking about for a little while didn't pull the trigger not how you want to go down in an RBI spot so now you got to hope your teammate behind you can pick you up so first and second with two outs and stepping in is the Speedy Brenton Doyle in the air pretty deep out to center field Harris makes a nice grab at a full Sprint two left for Colorado they Trail in this one three [Music] nothing new inning getting started so now to the plate for Atlanta Matt Olen sends itella back to work and first off ring is fouled off been a rough start on the mount for this guy this third inning so important for him to get on track Turn the Page settle in those things you need to do to give your team a little bit of length in this one left hand batter weights and that one is lifted in the air Brian out of dead Sprint makes the grab on the run one down that's just a really nice catch on the run right there he saved extra bases for sure if the pitch a friend he give second to catch his breath before he's ready to deal the next pitch here's Austin Riley singled and scored his first time in the air right field sizes this one up he's there he's got it and there's two away now B the centerel Michael two outs Bas is empty Michael Harris next up for the Braves doubled in his first a swing and a drive deep right field that one's back and it is gone a monster shot to right and they add to their lead it's over the fence well if you're a little too early you'll get some elevation and the ball get out of the ballpark for him it's kind of a mistake but you know what when you have such a good approach every now and then you're going to run into one Murphy in the box now as he leaves that one up high two out bace is empty swing and a miss and he got him to Chase and he really sells the change up with that arm action wouldn't chase that time two balls two strikes on the ground right side McMahon fires over to First and that is that but the solo shot stretches their lead even further it's now a 4 nothing ball game it's Major League Baseball on the show back here in Denver now to the plate the pitcher Antonio senella an Zella the wi of the pitch swings through that one out in front that time one ripped right center field and one hops Off the Wall should be extra bases and into second with one away that's a double no waiting around right there he was ready to Wi on the first pitch put a really nice balanced swing on it and when you can rope one end the Gap like that you're thinking extra bases from the first couple of steps out of the box and he'll feel real good about that one could fast ball in for a strike and it's one and two and another ball at the belt and fires that one misses three and two now he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with three Hall hitter coming up if he's walked one out and a runner at second here in the last half of the third here's a high Chopper and he picks it up and he'll put it in his pocket and the pitch that one hit to right aunia puts it away for the out and there's two away the first baseman number 22 noan now here's Nolan Jones first time up he grounded to third that's ripped base hit the throw in and he's out cut down and that ends the inning bang bang play at the plate right there outfielder needed no help an absolutely perfect throw to get him right on the money excellent tag by The Catcher And The inning ends on an awesome play as we go to the top of the fourth now the left fielder Jared Kellner and that's outside and that's ball one and a foul ball well he hasn't quite settled in out there four runs and three Innings he's going to have to have some quick one two three Innings to pitch deep into this ball game here's a 1-1 foul ball the pitch and that one hammered that's B back gone he circles the bases and they boost their lead it's five zip that's their third home run of the game they're having a lot of fun at the play in this one they've got the long ball working for them on autopilot a breaking ball on the inside part of the play requires a hitter to stay really square with his mechanics if you fly open with the front shoulder there's no way you keep that ball Fair an outstanding job mechanically he deserves that home run here's David Fletcher and first offering is fouled off [Music] L and that's a base hit couple of hits in a row for him here anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good about what you did at the plate you Ed your hands you let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it that's great work right there digging in in the air out to Cent Blackman grabs it on the run the right number Ronald akun J here's Ronald Akuna Jr he wrote a terrific piece before the season that detailed his love for baseball yeah he and his friends would play at the beach in a huge lot behind the hospital or out on the street all they needed was a newspaper and some tape and they were ready for a game the Rockies have some action in the pen Ryan feltner getting ready to go one run across in the frame so far top half of inning number four Swang in a miss and it's on two wow good luck catching up to that one that's towards Center Blackman as this one sized up makes the grab and there's two away the batter number one a so a man aboard here is Aussie Al's up to hit ball for a strike Off the Mark there and the count is one and one two outs got the back going too soon at strike two change up right there just pulled the string got it by for the K one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run and the lead is now 5 nothing it's major league baseball and it's on the show ready to go bottom four here's the Rockies cleanup hitter Ryan mcmah [Music] mck and a pitch inside just missed well these Rockies just haven't produced as many competitive at bats as I'd like to see in this one they're swinging early being aggressive but one or two pitches later the at bat is over that's not going to cut it if it's not resulting in hits so they might want to be a little more selective up there the 1-1 and it's foul away the one two and they'll do it again also really good B what I like about this guy his Bat stays in the zone for a long time gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches just missing there and it's two and two really good take especially with two strikes just misses and that's ball three he's really tightening up his Hitting Zone with two strikes here I love it and here's a 3-2 two and down on strikes he goes he battled for a long time but it finishes with a strikeout you can't be mad at yourself after an ATT like that one welcome to the club 2,000 career strikeouts and that puts him in very elite territory among major league pitchers he's got the stuff the intestinal fortitude he's got everything a pitcher needs to become an alltime grade and you can make a case that he may already be one what a career he's put [Music] [Music] together here's the catcher elas Diaz and he's already singled in this game and a foul ball righty to the plate strike two one out base is empty that just misses now one and two just miss sometimes you got to fight to get back into an advat take some tough pitches even out the count foul ball another two two upcoming and the rander deals Cs and miss it's a strike out he had him out in front which isn't easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the back and there's a new arm on the mound to start the fifth Ryan feltner and compared to a lot of other relievers strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year so the defense should be [Music] active here's Matt Olen he's already homered in this game he's not going to get cheated up there no he's not he's looking to do damage with every swing he takes one b one and0 Olen a former Gold Glove winner 30 years old now and he's driven in double digit runs over his last 10 games swing and a miss nice change up one and two the count H and misses it's a strike out man he got a real good pitch to hit right there with two strikes you cannot miss that not a great SL at all and I tell you what that's where you got to do damage he looked like he was on time getting the bath through the Zone but he just caught air Riley down the Box comes up empty with a swing there missed inside with the curb one down base is empty hammer down the right side but foul the wide the kick and the one two that one clubbed out towards left Center that'll be extra bases around first and hustling for second in safely it's a double at his second hit all over that one right there solid swing from start to end on time with everything really good balance nice extension and he made it out front for the line drive knock here's the center fielder Michael Harris he's already homered here in this one breaking ball right there I think he tried to do a little bit too much sometimes those eyes can get really big I think his swing broke down as well and that's what caused him to pop it up here's Shawn lacking discipline at the plate in thisall game they've been chasing pitches outside the Zone all game and it's led to some frustrating moments they've been fooled quite a bit today that one pushed foul out of play off to the left righty delivers fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two good eye on that spot take a two strike change up they just missed I think it frozen that one just missing inside and the count is two and two swing and a miss struck him out looks like he's picked up right where he left off here's a speed threat Brenton Doyle he's [Music] first pitch doesn't find for two you talk about Elite defensive players especially in the middle of the diamond and this guy is at the top of the list and you played behind guys and they love having your speed out there defensively one of the things that we talk about is how much pitchers enjoy having those Elite Defenders behind them in there for a strike at the bottom of the Zone Hogan the one thing about that is speed never goes in a slump and defense shouldn't need either hitting wise you can struggle you can lose your mechanics but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you're talented in that way and this is what this guy does two outs struck Him Out Swinging had him way out front of the slur the Rockies strand one still looking at that five nothing deficit [Music] all set for the top of the six here's the left fielder Jared kelman Jared K and the right hander back to work and a good fast ball to start him off at strike one no balls one strike and a swing Miss he was really trying to stay back for something off speed that's why he was so Tardy on that swing ball one there out to short Tovar slings to first now one gone in the top of the six good Sinker low in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for ball on the ground nice ground out and the batter will be the short stop David Fletcher Ro missing inside and that is ball [Music] one swing and a miss chased it out of the Zone one and one one down base is empty swings through that one for strike two good late sink on that fast out of the hand looks so good and then the time gets in The Hitting Zone hard to get the barrel to it two and two chases in the dirt slider there out two away now after the drop third strike he just ran out of patience there he took a he's doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball good execution Nolan Jones digging in for the Rockies and first off ring is fouled the plate Bas hit in the series for him so far and it's clearly been a rough one you just hope he's not pressing too hard because that just compounds things it makes the slump even longer never seems to help never help me oh and one well as good as things can be it can be a tough day at the office even for the Skippers seeing the offense just sputter not able to get anything going strike two quickly down 02 in the count I think you got to choke up a little bit spread out the feet you don't know what the velocity or the location of this next pitch is going to be and he deals foul ball it stays nothing in two oh he's got to be pretty proud of this audience so far sometimes guys cower coming into a ballpark like this but he is ATT tack hitters pitching on the road like this is very impressive this has been a treat to watch right through there got him picks up strikeout number seven I just over and we're back we go to the top of the seven and now the right fielder Ronald auna Jr with this kind of lead he can swing freely try to hit the ball out of the park do what he loves to do swing in a Miss that's strike one double barrel action in the bullpen Jake bird getting ready to come on for Bud black beaks a lefty warming up as well swing in a Miss as he was out front that [Music] time swing and a highfly ball pretty well struck right field and it hits the fense into second easily with a lead off double everything came together for him a lot of times in today's game right fielders are able to get to a ball that stays in like that but he hit that one pretty well and if he hits it just a little bit different on the barrel it's out of here easily but there's nothing wrong with the extra bases right there so man aboard here's the second basement Azie alz 0 for three with two ground outs and a strikeout inside almost almost got him well they kept him pretty quiet in this series still doesn't have a knock I know you want to get that first knock out of the way maybe more will come but you got to give some credit to the pitching staff they've had a great plan against him Runner and scoring position nobody out here in the top half of inning number seven hey in the dirt no movement now a ball in two strikes man it's second that one lift it to left Bryant pulls it down rounder tags it second and he makes it up to third with one away the batt the first mat Matt Olsen up to the plate one for three this is the class manufacturing a run situation a runner at third less than two outs and a golden opportunity to bring him home strike one now this guy is just filling up the stri zone right now don't want to get yourself in an 02 hole you better be ready to pull the trigger on the first pit swing and a high fly ball down the left field line but hooking foul the pitch lce still down the line this looks like extra bases in comes the run from third it's 6 nothing tag but he's in there comes through with the RBI just a solid swing right there caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit those always feel great and it's second with one away Austin Riley now at the plate first offing misses badly for ball one right-handed reliever swing and a miss stri one one out the runner at second here in the third and final game of the series that's inside that's a good Miss off the inside part of the plate you'd much rather Miss there than out over the plate where this guy could do some real damage swing and a miss nice change up those hitters count sometimes can be a little too aggressive and a good pitcher will play off of that he's got to get a better pitch to hit knocks that one away and we'll do it again Olen leads off second with one gone in the inning and another ball count is full bounced up the middle and that squirts through around third he'll score easy it's seven to nothing well done drives in the run just kept it simple PL Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock it down man it first with one gone and now Michael Harris on the ground right side four six three but he beats it good hustle and the inning [Music] continues man at first Shawn Murphy next up for the Braves went down looking on three pitches last time let's see if he can be a little more aggressive right here move over to First trying to keep him close base runner with a one-way lead right there all he's trying to do is get a look at the pitcher move had no intent of stealing on that pitch and first offering is fouled off if he's going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he's not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch swing and a miss two [Applause] now now One Missed kick sand to the right side McMahon fires over to First and that'll do it two runs three hits no errors and one left seventh inning stretch time it's the Braves seven and the Rockies nothing ready to go for the last half of the inning now the Rockies catcher delas Diaz [Music] now into the game Travis darno he takes over as the new first basem new pitcher on now wascar Noah he has a great slider with tons of movement [Music] here comes a pitch and that one sliced foul on the ground the first takes it himself and they get the lead off hitter in the seven the left fielder number [Music] 23 ran the left fielder Chris [Music] Bryant that one catches the Zone that's strike one on the ground to Third sends it across to First and a couple of quick outs the the third now the third baseman who's over for two with a pair of [Music] strikeouts and downstairs one out towards right center field that gets down for a hit Joey gets on base and keeps it going he needed that one it's been a tough stretch to play hook around that pitch on the outside but he was still able to square it up pretty nicely and that takes quick strong risk to pull that off Brenton Doyle digging in for the Rockies Doyle swinging it much better this season in away games than here at [Music] home first pitch just misses that two seam fast ball is usually coupled with a slider away and when a hitter's conscious of the pitch in it's hard for him to cover middle away and that's where a pitcher can really finish off that batter next offering is in for a strike the Braves up big in this one here at the bottom of the seven swing and a miss he was late strike two o by you got to remember to take the donut off the bat partner and there's a ball and the slider just misses great RBI spot here just got to stay focused on the pitch the runner will be in motion so something in the Gap should definitely score it swing and a miss struck him out so one left for Colorado not going their way it's seven nothing [Music] and outside low ball one one and out [Music] right through there for a strike in this situation you expect the Batters to be a little more patient possibly take until they get a strike with that you don't want to miss your opportunity to get ahead early in the count he didn't right there ripped to Third and picked on a hop Riley fires to First and a quick out number one up next to Colorado short back to the top of the lineup here's the Rockies lead off hitter Ezekiel [Music] toar pitches in for a strike it's own and one ball one there B is empty one away here the bottom half of the eighth inning the short stop takes a ball two balls one strike and a foul ball at the belt and fires and that's outside and now it's three and two bounce to the left side on the Run sends it over to first two up over Rockies are down quietly they continue to Trail 7 [Music] nothing all set for the start of the inning now it's the right fielder Ronald aunia Jr the wi to the pitch down the left field line could be extra bases around first heading for two throws to second but he's in there easily having a really nice game here that's his second extra base hit nice line drive to side met it out front but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the Outfield so man aboard Azie alz next up for the Braves worm burner into the outfield for a knock and they get it in quickly first and third now with nobody out it's been a rough one for him so far at the plate but that'll help pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one he pulled it hard into the Outfield and even when you keep it on the ground it feels great when you hit a missile like that so they're at the corners now and now it's Travis darno at the plate taking his first at bat of the game after entering on defense SS through that one no balls one strike Akuna at third alz at first with no outs next one misses and now it's even one and one slapped foul the one two and that's downed [Music] away struck him out [Applause] [Music] looking Austin Riley next up for the Braves I'm curious how he decides to attack on the M this guy at the pl has been great hitting under pressure this year first pitch and he just misses a swing and a miss and that strike one well that's that right there threw it extremely well talk about just a ton of breaks so tough to get that Barrel to that one tough spot right here a couple Runners on two ball count you can't nibble but you have to execute finish your pitch if you leave something out over the plate it's going to bring in some runs two on one out line drive caught the tag gets him and it's a double play to end the inning so it's no runs on two base hits no errors and one man left high of the order 345 will get their shot in the bottom of the tonight it's the Braves seven and the Rockies nothing back here at corfield and here's the first baseman Nolan Jones noan here's a new pitcher from the pen Aaron bummer and if you dig into his walk R his numbers are really impressive he's really filled up the strike zone this season so these batters better be ready to swing the [Music] bats the pitch and that one is in for a strike really good cutter that he's able to front door and back door that pitch is devastating that one ripped but foul and one a two on the ground to third the throw to first one out bottom of the ninth the batter number 24 second Bas two outs away now at the pl Ryan McMahon over for three with two strikeouts and a ground out and that drops in for a strike right through there for a strike just off the outside corner count one and one here the last half of inning number nine on the ground to the left Zips it to first two up two down the catcher number 35 Rockies down to their last out next to hit for the Rockies elas [Music] Diaz bottom of the zone and a called strike two down nobody on here in the third and final game of the series and now up bummer is just one strike away swag and a base hit another multi-hit game for him he's been really hot lately show the willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn't get jumpy didn't try to pull the ball let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base [Music] hit Bryan stands in here takes ball one low one Diaz the runner at first with two gone up the middle and that'll do it triple digit wins 100 wins that's hard to even look at you kind of blink your eyes to make sure that it says what you're reading but an incredible season this is an elite team and there are few teams few players in the history
