this is what we've been waiting for folks this is the game of the week in the anticipation the energy have been building and a rivalry like this is what makes college football great yeah the tradition and the history but right here right now there's great intensity this is why these guys came to these School to play in games like this as we'll seee the number 17 team in the country the Clemson Tigers taking on the number one team in the land the Georgia Bulldogs for EA Sports college football I'm Chris fer joined here in the booth by Kirk herb Street Kirk let's get to the action on the field [Applause] [Music] dos will kick this away to get us [Applause] going here's the return from inside the five he stopped at the 20 kind of make something happen but that's a good coverage there so the Clemson Tigers will get the first crack on offense today here we go Kirk all the emotion this Stadium which side is going to handle that better today Chris we had a chance to visit both these teams and one of the things that we saw the clocks ticking down all year for this game this day now they get their chance after the first down loss it's second and long from the 17 on the run it's green goes backwards losing three yards there they come to the line for third and very long here on the opening drive here's the snap quarterback drops back the ball is picked off look out he's got some space touchdown dogs wow what a play a defensive score oh my gosh I mean the defense could not have written a better script than this first drive of the game not only do you come up with a but F your offense six points right away I wouldn't be surprised if they tell their offense just sit back and take it easy fellas and now the try here for the extra point and the P makes it 7 nothing to open The Score kickoff team on the field getting set now and it's field and return to trying to create good field position here the returner is brought down it's to start on the next drive and the powerful Clon offense is back out there it'll be interesting to see if this quarterback can bounce back he threw a pick six in the last possession tackled behind the line it's a loss of two so it's second down and long here from the 13 and the flag is out before snap the defense may have been a little bit over eager that time def mental mistake for the defense that'll cost him five yards getting set here's second down looking to pass it's Club Nick he beat the tight end for a completion it's a solid gain lose the ball out to the 28 new set of downs for the offense first and 10 off the play fake looking to throw fires it to the Wi out the defender gets that hand in there to break the pass up important second down play coming up takes the hand off it's green goes backwards losing three yards there tough situation with the offense third and long from their 25 let's see if the defense brings some heat here from the shotgun drops back looking for an open man on the sack was made there by the Freshman how about that the defense does their job on third down and long they get after that quarterback and now it's Fourth and forever coverage did its part let's not forget about that buying the pass rush enough time to get after the quarterback the Tigers will have to kick this away and this will be the first punt for this offense this afternoon could be brought down but a penalty Mark goes on the field let's see what this is about person foul defense an obvious face mask penalty so first and 10 that's a costly mistake for the defense on fourth down hand off to the single back motion from the offense to throw it's back he's running out of time here he'll be taken down marker on the field if it's on the offense that'll be a sack oh so the offense will decline the penalty and the five how does the coaching staff play this do they run the ball to get some breather room or will they Trust theb and be more aggressive here that Lun produces a decent gain second down after that decide to AC the penalty and take the yardage well a serious challenge for this offense you don't want to be in third and long inside your own 20 how much of a risk will they take to try to pick up this first down the completion picks up about eight yds but sets up a fourth down play now and the Tigers will have to kick it away and he'll kick it away now for the second time and the returner elects to fair catch it no return it's line getting set up it's a first down play [Applause] they're going to run it here he shreds The Tackle they tackle him but not before he makes the 45 a solid gain first down and 10 [Applause] now out of the shotgun he hands it off pickup is five yds so it's second down and five movement from the tight end it's a run running back's got it nowhere to run up the middle so the ball placed right at the 50 offense looking to pick up the first down here on Third and short looking down field it's back that one is incomplete the defender was right there and it brings up fourth down now the golds will line up to kick it away hone he comes for his second punt of the game and the kick bounces and goes out of bounds down near the goal line outstanding work by the punter okay the Clemson offense heads back out onto the field looking for some space it's mafa they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one the offense will line up chance for a couple more plays before the end of the quarter from the shotgun it's a hand off that's a safety for the defense oh [Applause] obviously the defense will decline that penalty on the offense and take the result of that play on the return it's Smith and the defense able to bring him down to wrap up the first quarter of play well Kirk it's Georgia on top so far and at the end of the first quarter let's check out the stats so far theyve flipped ends of the field we're ready now for the second period first down here for this offense from the shotgun here's an inside give and he heads out of bounds after gaining a few yards big guys up front line up it's first [Applause] down and now the running back's got it again the seni you able to make the stop after a short gain offense getting set second down play here they'll run it here breaks loose at the 45 they get him down but he crosses Midfield spot the ball at the 44 and there's the handoff defense makes the stop after a fivey gain so second and five from the shotgun now here's an inside give and he's going to be taken down there but there is a flag on the [Applause] field holding penalties can be the ultimate Drive killer we'll see if it stalls this one scanning the field it's back quick throw the left side here's a wide openen receiver complete takes it all the way to the house touchdown Bulldogs well perfectly thrown football here and this quarterback's got to be fired up it's his first passing touchdown in the season here's the first of hopefully many more for this young man so they'll try to add to the lead now with the p and the kick is up and good they tack on a point to their lead kickoff team is on the field to boot this one away he's going to bring it out of the End Zone from a couple yards deep tackled at the 12 the coach wishes he left that one in the end zone and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there this offense trying to bounce back the last him out there they surrender to safety and it's incomplete that time just Out Of Reach of the receiver second down play coming up hand off to the right side that's a strong stiff arm defense shoves him out of bounds not much of a game there they come to the line a long way to go for the first down but needing this crucial conversion right now and the wi out goes in motion dropping back he going to throw for the first down oh downfield catch made in the left side he's marked out of bounds after excellent game but there is a flag on the field this one might be coming back pretty easy call for the head coach he will accept that penalty of course first down play call coming up how aggressive will it be off the play fake looking to throw takes the grab it's haes heads out of bounds as a short gain on play the Tigers will hustle to the line to run the hurry up offense they're moving the receiver now before the snap he's going to hand this off breaks the tackle to get back to the line of scrimmage but that's it offense breaks the Huddle and gets set you get these guys to third down you better bracket or double team some kind of coverage rolled to this receiver to take him away this guy makes another big play so second down after the incompletion quarterback drops back close to the tight end touchdown tigers this quarterback on fire today a much needed scort trying to just hang in this game right here man I love that they're not giving up they are continuing to fight they try to get themselves back into this [Music] game now here comes the point after attempt p is good they still Trail though kickoff team has come on the field now to send this one away and he takes this from inside the five he's tackled at the 21 that's where the drive will start and the Bulldogs offense is back out on the field remember last time they scored a touchdown can they keep clicking here or the defense come up with a stop play action here on first down grab behind the line it's etn the defense drops him for a loss he went backwards there a second down behind the sticks now moving the receiver around PR snap airing this one out toward the sideline that deep shot is caught for a big game and he takes it all the way to the end zone touchdown Georgia look like a total bust there easy pitch and catch like see in a Tuesday practice Yeah that quarterback's eyes must have lit up on that play because you've got one of your players way down field without any Defender around them so they'll try to add to the lead now with the p extra point is good and they stretch the lead a little bit more now the kickoff team is out on the field they'll get him down pretty quickly but it's a solid gain in that short throw so let's see what they like here on Third and short from inside their own 20 important to pick up this first down here's a screen pass to the running back that's a big game before he goes out of bounds it'll move the sticks more than enough for a first out Clemson getting set for the first and 10 coming up off the play fake looking to throw the pocket breaking down and with nobody open he chooses to just throw it away offense lines up for a second down play off the incompletion using the ground game here tailback has the off the play fake looking to throw and the sophomore has got him for a sack boy great chob here by this defensive lineman from Georgia using his hands and his speed to close in on the quarterback and come up with his sack and and they've had some great ones over the years Chris as you know starting with our guy David poock who had as good a career in his time in Athens as anybody who's ever put on that uniform Richard Seymour a brilliant career with the Patriots but it all started in Athens Jaylen Carter just an enforcer of up front and I even throw in Gino Atkins who had a great career in the interior at that Georgia defensive line throws the ball away but KN before taking a hit ninth play of the drive coming up this is a tough third and long dropping back it's Club Nick looking for the wide out finds a man downfield that's a big gain to the right and now a time out quickly called by the defense as they try to get everybody on the same page here and here comes the field goal unit onto the field and he knocks it right through the uprights snap the hold the kick everything there perfect to put three points up here for the offense [Music] They Come Away with three points on the drive and now the kickoff team will boot it away he's going to return it from near the goal line stop at the 22 that's pretty solid coverage there and the Georgia offense is back out on the field they reached the end zone the last time out trying to do the same thing here throws it to the right oh he doesn't hang on looks like it was def Ed before it got to him it'll bring up second down after the incompletion on first down looking to throw it again slags a quick throw brought down at the 33 that's good enough to move the sticks first down play call how aggressive will it be off the play fake looking to throw the pass rush closing in Sofer able to get home with the sack well you got to do a better job with fake as a quarterback the defense did not fight at all in the play action allowing them to continue to come after the quarterback and come up with that sack after a first down loss it's second and long from the 23 here's the handoff he shreds the tackle the time out is call important stage late here in the second quarter the defense coordinator this week all week telling us about Gap Integrity not giving this running back any creases at all really sound defense on that play He Stopped short of the marker so it's fourth down now defense spends their second time out to try to regroup the Dodge will line up to boot it away running it back it's brown they finally get him down but that's a solid return good work by the return now his line getting set up it's a first down play look him out throwing here to start the drive Falls incomplete browen up by the defender nicely that time here's the second down play to the air it's Club Nick lets it Go quickly downfield shot B Falls incomplete couldn't quite connect there now the off facing a third and long from their own 41 droping back looking to throw for the first down he dumps it off to the tight end they'll stop him short the completion gain five yards but brings up fourth down and now the defense will call a timeout before this critical down just to get everybody on the same page oh it landed at the and bounc into the end zone for a Touchback so the offense takes the field in the final seconds of the half chance for just a couple more plays here comes a hand off he'll be taken down but a penalty flag on the [Applause] field costly holding penalty there backs him up 10 yards here comes the bunch formation looking for a gap it's etn and he's brought down there M's going to wrap up the first half here let's kick it now to Kevin Connors with our halftime update phis what an environment there today all the animosity and flat out hatred that comes with a good oldfashioned rivalry game on display in that first half and there is no better place to start this halftime than by re how this wide out has been a Onan Wrecking Crew the kid's been everywhere and I love how he's willing to go across the middle but that he also has the Jets to burn these DBS on the Deep ball if this defense wants to actually come back in this one they better hide his pleas that said let's get back to the field and our guys in the booth to see who comes out on top of this rivalry contest the Bulldogs will kick this away to begin the second half return starts from inside the five he's got some daylight turning on the speed on the Move still going it's a foot race they chase him down but a huge play on the building now didn't I care for this could get ugly chrisis offense has been impressed the entire game one of the great things about Riot games is you'll never forget this kind of performance now the inside the 5 yd line he'll be tackled at the 18 that's good coverage there and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there they coming off a three and out looking to produce a positive drive here here's a shot toward the right sideline defense breaks it up nice play incomplete second down after that previous play it's an out route the catch made he bring him down but he reaches the 4 yd line first down here for this offense quarterback drops back from the shotgun looking for a receiver off Target with a throw incomplete offense getting set it's second down play action fake looking to throw it's incomplete he took a hit as he threw the football and brings up a third down urgency now for the offense that hate to come up empty on this drive down multiple scores pressure is coming hit as he releases it and the pass ball is in complete the Tigers will line up to punt it away and they've got the returner Corral and the powerful Georgia offense is back out on the field the offense with some pre- snap eye candy begin with a quick throw to the left tackle made after the completion the game makes it second and [Applause] medium and the ball is handed off out of the shotgun ATT the coverage team here the Clemson offense heads back out on of the field they came up empty on the last possession forced to punt it away and they begin to click now that one Falls incomplete good defensive play brings up second down dropping back it's Club Nick looking to set up a screen pass here they stopped the receiver but that's a solid gain on that play So the offense faces a third and manageable here from the 25 yd line [Applause] they'll try to run for the first down tackle right at the 30 good enough to move the sticks big guys up front lined up it's first down they'll try the ground game here with the running back they continue to feed the running back but he has had nowhere to go today they've been getting own to the L of scrimmage second down we're going to throw it running back has it on a screen now he's brought down good job by the defense getting through the blockers he stopped short of the first down they're backed up here trying to make something happen on Third and long on the defense appeared to jump before the snap and the flages out [Applause] defense mental Mistake by the defense it's a 5yd penalty critical third down play for this offense right here looking to pick up the first down through the air it's intercepted tried to fire it into a tight window not much on the return but theck will set up the offense at the 35 boy would this quarterback love to have this one back they're trying to work themselves back into this game here in the second half and the defense comes up with a big turnover that could bre the nail in the golf great spot to start this drive for the offense quick throw complete to the tight end defense drops him for a loss tough for second down by the way inside give now from the shotgun tackled behind the line it's a loss of two so the offense getting set this is not where you want to be against this defense third and long dropping back you're going to throw for the first down and a sophomore making an impact play I'm shocked this guy is trying to get outside and make a play Chris you know what he's all about sit in the pocket make a read get the ball out of his hands here he's desperate trying to make a play on the outside really not in his Arsenal as you see and it backfires for a big loss and the Bulldogs will have to punt this one away on to kick it away helping his team with field [Applause] position the pump will go out of bounds taking the returner out of play and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there the last possession ended in an interception let's see if they continue to trust this quarterback in the passing game caught behind the line it's mafa but the play loses yardage very tough second down coming up now [Applause] the pass is caught but they say he's out of bounds so an [Music] incompletion that one Herz backs him up 10 yards what's the play call here on second down for this offense to the air it's Club Nick but they don't make the connection that one is incomplete so a tricky situation here third and very long inside your own 20 how much of a risk do you take you know this defense could be very aggressive at this moment oh he missfires again three in a row and the Tigers will bring their putt team onto the field that's a rough series for the offense and now he's on to punt it away with the return hits love it and the returner is tackled by this punt coverage team first down playall coming upgive iive will it [Applause] be and here's the handoff they pick up four so second down and Six coming up tight end goes in motion before the snap hand off here from the shotgun they bring him down to the 27 this offense really threatening now first down and 10 off the play fake looking to throw contact as he let the ball go and it's incomplete even in a first down throw he was under some heavy [Applause] pressure looking to pass here on second down pass complete on a Crossing route a big hit by the linebacker physical tackle there big versus big well Kirk it's Georg on top so far so after three quarters of play it's a pretty solid lead let's take a look at our game stats how we got here so one final quarter to play it's going to take a lot to turn this game around but strange things do happen in college football and now the ball comes out a disastrous play from the start the defense recovers the fumble they finally bring him down great defensive play but there's a flag on the field let's see if the takeaway stands the offense will obviously decline that penalty and take the result of the play scanning the field it's Club neck oh a nice play by the defender got a hand in there to break up the pass second down play coming up for this offense quarterback drops back from the shotgun and that pass rush has trapped him into sack man how impressive have these guys been in this football game I really expected to see a very different outcome with the hype of this quarterback and the way he's played most of this year but this defense has held him under 200 yd passing they've got a nice lead and they are not sitting back and resting on their lals they're applying more pressure and they come up with a sack here offense been in Reverse here now a long way to go to convert this third down quarterback sets up looking for an open man and this is dropped would have been a huge game but he could not collect it the offense stays on the field down multiple possessions Easy Choice and he's throwing forward on fourth down and it falls incomplete a turnover on down big play for this defense fresh set it down to the offense first down off the play fake looking to throw he cannot escape the defense with a sack the offense trying to go play action there but how about the big man in the middle this defensive tackle showing you he's athletic as well gets to the quarterback comes up with a big sack after the sack on first down it's second [Applause] down they'll run it out of the shotgun and he's brought down but there is a penalty marker out there let's check out this call holding offense will have to over overcome the holding penalty now getting set here's second down that's the wide receiver coming in motion now bringing pressure gets the ball off as he's hit but it's incomplete third down play looking for a fresh set of downs and now the handoff go a stiff on the defense stops him short of the marker so it's Fourth Down coming up so they'll send out the field goal unit to get a shot here from very long distance and he's got it 57 yd out and never in doubt boy this guy has such a strong leg no problem up into the net from 50 plus so after adding to this big lead they'll set to kick it away [Applause] Turner looking to make a play here makes it to the 16 that's good coverage there okay the Clemson offense heads back out on the field last time they gambled and lost went for it in fourth down and their territory and got stopped beautiful catch right near the sideline gets the foot down heads out the bounds after a solid game more than enough to pick up a first down looking to throw it's Club Nick the pass is incomplete he dropped the firstand attempt here across the middle so after the incompletion it's second down there's the snap looking to throw the ball and he lobs it deep down the middle and he throws his third interception of the day and he's got some open field ahead not just the pick but a big return sets up the offense in good position well that interception really about cost him the game here and I understand you got to do everything you can to get back in it down by a couple scores but the interception for the most part seals the deal for the defense suddenly off the interception it's first and goal for this [Applause] offense a pop pass on the Jet Sweep Nowhere to Run they'll caral him for no game second down and goal upcoming receiver in motion now they flip it to him on the Jet Sweep he's wrapped up nicely there by the Freshman they've gotten the ball down to the three yd line but now it's third and goal there's the snap he's looking to throw intercepted in the end zone and they tackle him right there but that's a turnover what a play by the defense really the only way they can get back into this game is to create a turnover they get an interception and they're in business and the powerful Clemson offense is back out there this drive is important last one ended in an interception let's see if they can get it going here wow that is interception number four today for this QB it he'll be taken down but after a good return I just don't think there's anything else you can do as a play call you've got to be able to throw the ball down field you just got to hope that your quarterback and receivers can execute when the defense knows it's coming here the interception cost [Applause] them first down play call how aggressive will it be motion now from the tight end quarterback still with the football ball carrier brought down at the four offense in great scoring position here here comes a crucial second down play every yard tough to find down here in the red [Applause] zone out of the shotgun he'll hand it off touchdown Georgia stretching the lead this one is getting ugly that's another touchdown for these guys me they have had a day that you dream about whether it's the quarterback the running back the receivers the offensive line the entire unit has been [Applause] Domin kicking team out for the pat triy extra point is good and they stretch the lead a little bit more here's the kickoff team let's see they give the returner an opportunity to bring this back and it's fielded returner trying to make something happen to be tackled at the 17 strong job by the coverage team okay the Clemson offense heads back out onto the field see if this quarterback can bounce back the last possession a pick on the very first play makes the grab it's mafa that's a much better job by this quarterback of working through his progressions we seen him earlier try to force some throws trying to make a big play this time works through his progressions checks it down into the flat and picks up some positive yards not much after the catch but it is good enough for a first down looking to pass it's Club Nick the ball is caught he's tackled quickly but the yardage is good enough for the first half the Tigers come to the line to set a fresh set of down looking to throw it on first down quick completion to the tight end a big hit by the linebacker able to knock him down that completion makes it second and medium looking to Chuck it again tried to press the ball deep but it's incomplete not going to be easy here backed up a long way to go for a first down drops back needing a third down completion here and the junior able to get home with the sack and just like that you squeeze the life out of this offense that's another sack by this defense they have been in that back field the entire game and a big reason why these guys are enjoying a lead and the Tigers will line up to punt it away forced to kick it away for the sixth time on the return it's love it the coverage team able to bring the returner to the ground and the Bulldogs offense is back out on the field they were up double digits at halftime and they're just continuing to roll building in the lead here in the second half it's good for a three- yd gain so second and [Applause] seven and the quarterback keeps it on the option it's a fumble defense falls on the ball crucial takeaway it's line getting set up it's a first down play off the play fake looking to throw that's a fly out of the wide out oh it's incomplete that's a good job of the defender to break that up important second down play coming up back to throw it's Club Nick makes the catch can he get in and he will score touchdown hson you know the most impressive thing to me Chris I mean they're not going to win this football game I love that they're still fighting I think that tells you a lot about this team the character the culture the way they're coached it's not their day but I'm just impressed that they're still battling here's the point after attempt and it's up and is back out on the field what a satisfying feeling for this team just run out the clock and let the celebration begin they'll stop him behind the line for a loss of one short loss of the play sets up second and long from the 18 keep it on the ground to work the clock here finds room at the 30 and a big game before he goes out of bounds the offense keeps churning gets a fresh set of downs looks conversion right now there was so much anticipation so much preparation on both sides for a match up like this to begin the season Kirk that's a big W on a big stage here early well you get through Camp you wonder how the season's going to get started and they cannot be any happier now we'll just have to see how far they can ride this momentum as we go through the first half of the season and
