they are a spiritual mother a mother to be a mother who's always longed to be someone a mother who is longing for a better relationship with her mom a mom who is grieving the loss of her mother the woman Lord that you see and that you know and that you say I am here for you God I know how hard it could be to be a mom in various ways father I thank you that you are with us father I know being a mom is more than just raising up a child it's being there for the ones around you and God I thank you that you first modeled that for us father I thank you that you are holy that you are with us and that you are never forsake us God I thank you for every mother that is represented in this place physically spiritually emotionally Lord I Thank you for them Father you use this giving to bless the hallelujah thank you [Music] Father God maybe we be sensitive to what you are doing Lord we just thank you for every single person that is here we know that you know them that you've divinely created them and so father right now I ask that they would not hear EJ but they would hear you I'm just a conduit in which I want your presence to flow in such a way that their hearts are captivated that they can taste and see that you are enough Lord and I just thank you for that I thank you for your faithfulness father I thank you that you are so kind and I thank you that we can reflect you to all the ends of the Earth father I just repent for being so frustrated this weekend with my children father I just repent for being frustrated when I'm out on the road and I thank you Father that you forgive because you've already forgiven by your son Jesus Lord may you continue to refine me Lord may you continue to work out things in [Music] me I don't know what weight you're carrying today but I want you to know there's a God that can handle it there's a Jesus that paid a price for the weight of whatever that is and so whatever that is today I just want to encourage you to give it to him often times we come into church we hear a word but the whole time we're in church there's something going on within us that is not allowing us to receive what God has for us and so I want to encourage you to give that to him and so whatever that is right now it could be in your mind under your breath but I just want you to say Jesus I hand it to you Jesus I hand that depression Jesus I hand the insecurities Jesus I hand The Pride to you may we not forget that can we just sing one more time it's your breath in our lungs it's your breath it's your breath in our l so we pour out our praise pour pastor here and uh if this is your first time just want to say welcome um I want you to know this man uh we see you we're thankful for you uh because God sees you and um we're just so glad that you're joining us today you know I'm just so thankful for my wife happy Mother's Day um and if I'm just being honest this weekend has been really tough for me because my wife she went to a Women's Conference and you know can I get a witness you know what I'm saying um let's just say having two children I appreciate her more uh after the weekend and um you know just me being transparent like I've been so busy in Ministry uh not necessarily right in this season but in the past and um you know I haven't always been as present as I should be as a father um it's kind of like mothers become the the default parent right and uh you know I think what I appreciate most is that my wife doesn't condemn me uh when I do fail um but she does empower me to be she's like EJ you can go outside of your comfort you can do more um you know than you think you can and so uh yeah I had a very tough weekend and to be honest I was struggling this morning like man these kids are frustrating me and um I also want to reflect Jesus well uh to my children because you've heard me say it before I I don't I don't want my children to come to church because it's the thing to do but I actually want them to encounter a real God that I encountered uh 14 years ago and so um I love you and just thankful for you and you were missed all right yeah um and mothers just thankful for you Mom if you're watching thankful for you um but you guys are needed and so we just honor you today um with that being said fellas please please please show up this Saturday uh we'll be making breakfast for you it's a great time of Fellowship uh a great time to connect to people you know the thing is that that allows us as a body of Christ is is we we're able to connect in community and talk about real things and that's what that Men's breakfast is about we're able to talk about things and not feel the weight of of all the other responsibilities in that moment so I want to encourage you to show up all right amen all right so um any other announcements Ben where you at no I'm good okay sorry he keeps me you know keeps me tracking but we are in a series in the book of Acts and uh as you guys know we've been walking through that book uh we talked about in the first message that it's all about the kingdom it's all about the kingdom and when we talk about the kingdom we talk about about the kingdom of God being defined as God's Reign on the earth manifested through his sons and daughters you see I don't know where you're at today but I need you to know that God has a plan for you and his plan is is that all of Heaven would enter you and you would go out into all the world and Be Heaven on Earth to the world around us because you don't have to be saved to realize that this world is broken shootings bombings racial tensions all of it the world needs a savior in breaking news Jesus is the only one that can do that the next week I talked about prayer being essential to the kingdom and then Pastor Ben or then I talked about the Holy Spirit and Pastor Ben shared an amazing message on repentance is a must last week I talked about generosity and I talked about generosity being more than your resources your your your fun your your money sorry I was thinking your money's acting funny sorry that's why it kind of um more than your money but it's actually your time what's in your hand I challenge each one of us to serve in some capacity and each morning before we get Church started we have a team huddle and it was just powerful to see all these people around that are serving to make those who are entering these doors feel like they're seen heard and known and so I just commend you guys for stepping up we've I've gotten text messages messages saying hey I'm ready to step in and serve and so the message doesn't change we are ready for yeah let's get it we are ready for you guys to serve the people that are coming through this doors but also the city now this week is a message that is so dear to my heart today we're going to be in Acts 3 and this is one of the most impactful uh text in the Bible for me and so today's message is called restoration is a must restoration is a must let me pray father I thank you right now that you've given me the words to speak I thank you that I would yield to you Holy Spirit I thank you Father that you are in control you know all things you know every single person that's in this room and may we reflect you to those around us in Jesus name everyone said amen amen ra you can handar me my Bible please thank you thank you thank you so I have a message but the Lord's been dealing with me the whole time I've been in prayer and I was almost going to be disobedient but I can't do that and um he just said yo open this Bible and preach so we don't know where this is going but he does so in Acts three we see that before uh Peter and John they enter the building we see that they are on one Accord selling possessions they are worshiping God the Holy Spirit Falls and they are now encountering the Holy Spirit and making a change in the society around them the the Jews that have come to Jerusalem have now been impacted and they want more of this Jesus that Peter is speaking of and so in Acts three it says now Peter and John were going up to the temple for the time of prayer at 3: in the afternoon see this is important because in Jewish culture they would go to the temple at 9:12 and 3 for the evening tamid and this was a time where they would make sacrifices and so as we're going to see this man that is at the gate he understands in this moment that there are going to be a lot of wealthy people coming through these doors so he can receive from them the things that he thinks he needs let me keep preaching in verse two it says a man who was lame from birth was being carried there he was placed each day at the temple at the Temple Gate called beautiful so that he could beg from those entering the temple in verse three when he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple he asked for money verse four Peter along with John looked straight at him and said look at us so he turned to them expecting to get something from them but Peter said I don't have silver or gold but what I do have I give you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth get up and walk let's stop there you see this specific lame man the Bible speaks of about later was there for almost over 40 years sitting at the gate his friends would bring him to this gate to receive arms one of the things that the the Pharisees the rabbis taught is that you want to follow the Torah you want to give arms you want to practice generosity and when you gave arms it wasn't that you did this out of an actual concern or compassion you actually gave arms out of religious Duty and it was convenient they actually would just flip a coin and keep it pushing they wouldn't even look him in the eyes because they were not deemed worthy to go into the temple to worship so they're like hey I did my good deed and now I'm going to the temple to worship unfortunately that sounds very familiar for the church in America today I can check off the box of going to church but I'll never allow the church to live through me it's convenient to give to causes but actually not be a solution to the cause it's convenient it's convenient to say hey we support missionaries across the world I'll give you my money but never get in the mud with those who need it but that's not who Jesus called us to be he called us to get in the game if we are not going to seek this world the the way that Jesus sought the world even before time then our Christianity is phony that's right see a lot of people don't have a problem with Jesus they have a problem with Christians that's right I'm going to say it again a lot of people don't have a problem with Jesus they have a problem with Christians because we like to talk a lot but we never show up and you heard me say it last week don't talk about it finish it be about it don't talk about it be about it that's what Jesus did all the Pharisees they knew the law they knew all these great things they dressed the part but they went against the Jesus went against the grain and lived and fulfilled everything that the scriptures had taught about you see this L man was broken he was sitting there for over 40 years and he thought that the money was going to fix his need and change his position he's been collecting money for over 40 years and he's still at the gate but it wasn't until Jesus showed up that he could actually walk and be everything that God had called them to be let's keep reading it says in verse 7 then taking him by the right hand he raised him up and at once his feet feet and ankles became strong so he jumped up they say he get he they said he jumped up come on and started to walk and he entered the temple with them walking leaping and doing what praising God it says he jumped up started to walk enter the temple walking leaping and praising God no amount of money was going to change his circumstance but Jesus did where you going EJ there are a lot of us in this room a lot of us in this world that are just like that lame man broken trying to find anything we can to meet the needs of our hearts and the reality is is only Jesus can do that that's right because we've tried the different things to mask the pain right I was just talking to one of my guys earlier and I said look if I had uh torn my ACL and I went to the doctor and the doctor said hey just put a bandaid on it that would sound crazy right because it's a Band-Aid going to fix my ACL it requires surgery and what I found is we're looking at all the branches of things and not getting down to the root of why we do the things that we do y see this this man was lame and broken and it wasn't necessarily what he's done it was his circumstance and as he continued to ask for money and more money he still stayed the same when Jesus entered the building he actually leaped up and walked into something he was always created to do to worship God see all of us were created by God for God for his great pleasure and we all have a purpose to reflect Jesus our purposes are just misguided when we don't know him we we all have a gift from God see I wasn't just a a charismatic leader when I got saved I've shared this story before in college me and my homies we had an entertainment company called hungry boy ent because we was hungry for the Honeys and hungry for the money flat out and we was making money but the thing is I would gather people together and I say hey go out to the streets go out to the campus and bring them back to our house parties and we had a house party so major one time that the cops came because we had the whole block shut down and he even told me he's like I'm GNA get off my recording I can't tell you this but I'm very impressed by what you guys just did you see God has put in me from the beginning of time to lead people and to grow things but now I'm here to grow his kingdom and lead people to them so whatever that is for you if you write if you do music photography reading right whatever it is I want you to know that you didn't do that just for your sufficiency and you being great it's that God has a purpose for that he wants to use that so people can encounter him something else when I was reading this text I thought about how Peter and John they went to this gate but if we remember last week they all sold their possessions so it's not that they didn't have money it's that he realized that the money that they had was not going to fix this man's true problem how many times have we masked our faith in Christ and we just kind of like uh watered down things so that people can feel good about themselves well when reality we know what the truth is maybe you have a friend a close relative that is living a life that is not centered around Christ and you've been scared to let them know that there's something more I'm not sitting here saying you need to condemn them what I'm sitting here saying is that you need to begin to Proclaim Jesus so that they can know they can leap and walk in everything that God's had for them you see this world is broken and as Christians we have an answer to restore this world because we've seen Jesus restore us Amen in verse n it says all the people saw him walking in praising God and they recognized that he was the one who used to sit and beg at the beautiful gate of the temple it's funny they recognize him then so they could gossip but they didn't recognize him when they were just tossing some coins at him so they were filled with awe and astonishment at what had happened to him and I want you to see this right here in verse 11 while he was holding on to Peter and John all the people utterly astonished ran toward them in what is called Solomon's colonade what I want you to see right here it says while he was holding on to Peter this man knew that something was different about them and so he did everything he could to stay connected to them when you encounter people in your life do they desire to follow and know the Jesus that you say you believe in or are they confused because your life does not line up with what Jesus believed in family just because someone may be driving uh a Tesla and have a million dooll house and have money in the bank account and look good on the outside does not mean their status is really not like that lame man we can all make everything look good that's why I'm so vulnerable with you guys because I want you to understand the same person you see up here preaching is the same person that's behind closed doors in my home and I have no problem saying that because my wife is sitting there and she knows it I'm not doing that to so oh look how humble I am no I'm not doing that for that what I'm let you know is that I'm not perfect and that you don't have to reach someplace to get to where I'm at I just love Jesus that's it and he chose to anoint me to call me to this but what is he called you to your workplace your team your church it's all about being used by him for everything that he's placed in you and family if we want to see this city restored we have to go from a place of convenience to compassion that's good I can't tell you how many times whether it be online or in person I hear Christians saying things like I'll never go to that place I hear Christians saying thing there's too many homeless people in our city I hear hear Christians saying things like yeah this is Lake Hood yeah and the thing is I understand why you say the things that you do but we are not of this world God does not call it that amen because he sees people amen and see what that does is it creates a bubble around us where just like this uh like Peter and John they actually stopped and saw the homeless man they actually saw this man that was broken how many people do we pass on the street daily and we Overlook them because we're scared they might hurt us because they don't look like us family that's not Christianity that's religion I'm letting you know that this church is not going to be a church that overlooks the homeless this church is not going to be a church that says we won't go to the city because the homeless and the druggies are taking over on this is not that church if you want a church that's going to just kind of sit here and do church as usual I'm sorry I love you you're a brother and sister in Christ but I'm telling you right now this is not your church it's not not I want you here please hear me but we are going to be a church that lives outside of these walls and I'm not playing amen amen there are too many broken people in this city that need the Jesus that I have amen and if I could go extra hard for the devil best believe I'm going to go hard for the Lord amen but I desire that for all of us amen our Sunday only Christianity does not works facts if it worked everybody in the city in this country would be saved it doesn't work business you cannot do business as usual it's got to change and that's why we see Peter and John and we're going to continue uh next week and everything seeing what happens but that's why we see so much transformation in Acts is because they actually understood who they were they actually understood who they were and so my question to you today is do you really understand who God's created you to be because if you did if we did everywhere we go lives would be impacted and here's the thing a lot of times when we think that we think we have to know the Bible this way and we have to be able to say say and quote this what if you just ask someone how the day was going cuz we're often so busy we can't even do that right see Peter and John they saw and because they saw that person that lame man saw Jesus think about that and as a church we're going to be a church that sees people and I know that we're already doing that but we want more the devil has had a hold on this city this country this world for too long amen but I'm here to tell you we already have the victory in Jesus the battle is already won and if we would understand who we are and who we are we would walk in an authority and a power that we don't back down to dark we actually stand up and say come out in the name of Jesus and we're not condemning we're saying come out and be everything that God has called you to be amen because we are in the restoration business amen we are in the restoration business you know why because Jesus is amen amen worship team you can come up here you guys can go ahead and stand um for God so loved the world that he gave amen he gave if you're here today and um maybe you've been around God you've been around you've you've heard a lot about him but you still don't know him still don't know him we want to give you an opportunity today to do that I would be remiss if you guys walked out this door today and I didn't give you an opportunity to receive him as your lord and savior um but I also feel like there are people here today that maybe it's been a minute since you've you've really just said I'm going to surrender My All to You Jesus we want to pray for you so if I could have a prayer team come down those who I talked to before we want to create a space where you can receive prayer my wife and I will be over here and um I just believe man God's got such a plan for this church for this city I'm not even from here but God woke me and my wife up and gave us clear indications that he's called us to this city and we want to bridge the kingdom to the culture in this city and I'm not just talking about Lakewood it's time that those divisions die in this city you hear people from Lakewood I won't go to Tacoma but we're in Pierce County amen amen and God has given us this region let us not create bubbles where God is saying I'm building bridges amen so if you're here today and you need prayer for anything it could be financially it could be physical healing it could be relational healing see God wants to restore marriages he wants to restore relationships I love that Iris don't be afraid you can come down now you don't have to wait till the song if you need prayer for anything if there's someone here today and you specifically feel like God is calling you to come down here and have me pray for you please come down right now if that's you you feel this stirring in your heart don't hesitate you guys may be wondering what is he doing right now I'm just listening I'm trying to see Holy Spirit what are you doing yeah R me your name again bro Eric Eric I need you to know that you were loved man that God sees you and because of that I see you man I don't know your story I don't know where you've been where you come from all those things but he does I just thank you for your boldness today because there are many people that need what you desire let me pray for you father I just pray right now for this man I just pray right now in the name of Jesus that every everything that you have for him that he would understand that he would not sell anything short Lord I thank you Father right now for your peace that surpass all understanding Lord I just pray right now we know that you are here and don't know what your relationship was like with your dad if he was there or not but I feel like the Lord is just wanting to redeem what a father looks like to you he loves you and he sees you bless hard day for them I just pray right now that you would restore that you would allow them to experience a peace that surpasses all understanding Lord Jerry can I pray for you can you come here yeah I know this is a hard day for you God sees you father I just pray for Jerry right now I pray for mothers who have grieved the loss of their children father you see her and that's why you highlighted her today and she be reminded of your nearness yes Father may you use this loss to bring light to other situations Lord father we pray for love restoration we thank you that you see her I pray father that you reignite the flame that has felt dim for so long more of your presence Lord more of your peace in Jesus name amen love you for those of this your first time this isn't a normal service but one thing you're going to know about this church is that we are sensitive to what God is actually doing in the moment who practice we prepare I have 10 pages of notes right there but we have to be there's still things that you're struggling with that you feel like will never leave but I'm here to let you know you can step out and trust him and it won't always be pretty but he will always pick you up the same way he picked up Peter when he was drowning so Holy Spirit I ask that you give direction to those in this room that have been wounded that have felt forgotten I sense there are people where their mothers have left them and they're struggling with this day as well because they cared more about the things that they were passionate about than they cared about their own children and so it last week God is going to use you to leads so many people to him you're a leader people listen when you speak right you think about the things that you're saying because you know the impact that rose up on the third day so that in him you could experience life and life more abundantly and are you ready just for him not to be savior anyone can be saved when they're drowning but actually him be
