Ohio State really just a dream season with some really good players for Eli drinkwitz in Missouri it was a season to remember and what that begets from there is is probably the most anticipated season that we've seen for Missouri football since Missouri joined the league which is just over a decade plus now I mean Missouri's had some good years broke into the SEC with the bang by by winning the the East a couple times in a row but you know there was always a little question of can they continue it and I think last year with what Missouri did you know and not just winning some games but the way in which Missouri won some games and who it beat and then you look at that offense with so many of those kids coming back uh it is hard to look at Missouri and say that optimism is misplaced and boy the schedule which we're going to get to here in a second um certainly will give the Tigers some momentum going into the tougher part of it yeah that is for sure I mean this year you got to think it's with the with the playoff expanded it's it's playoff reust for Missouri I mean they got their eyes on that 12 team playoff yeah and they should I think I think the expectations are not misplaced let's take a look at that schedule Chris uh for for the Missouri Tigers again in a very highly anticipated season yeah you look at the the first few weeks uh like some other schools in this league Missouri is getting its FCS game out of the week early against Murray State and then a September 7th game with Buffalo uh which has had some success at the group of five level at times you know that that's probably more in the rearview mirror when Lance lipold was there now he's of course at Kansas any any reason to think either of these first two games are interesting not really I mean Murray State two- n last year Buffalo won three games last year so I I think it's two games right off the bat that Missouri uh will will be favored heavily in and should win by a large margin especially if if uh if the offense is is clicking the way we think it could for Misouri so yeah these these first two games they're just uh you know going to try to get out of the way uh for the rest of the Slate here yeah and and then you get to your your power five game with Boston College again some some teams in this league you know took some some real winners on You Know M you would see Michigan on a schedule here with Texas uh Boston College I would think would probably be in the lower quartile of of power five teams now this has been I think a series that's played before I have to look it up I feel like these teams played a pretty closely contested game a couple years back uh but but that was kind of a different Universe for Missouri then the talent is is been taken to a new level since that one you're you're right uh what they've built at Missouri is is it's been night and day really and Boston College though they're under Bill O'Brien now as their head coach who has plenty of NFL experience as well as the former offensive coordinator at at Alabama and has been in college football as well so with him coaching and and the style he brings I I think Boston College will be decent but the way Missouri the way we're expecting Missouri to be you know this is a very winable game for Missouri again they there may be some things or there will be some things in this game that they aren't going to see in the first two games Murray State and buffalo no discredit to those teams but again Boston College is a is a power five team I think they can cause some problems make Missouri think about some things uh before they get ready for an SEC game the following week but uh very winnable game for Missouri against Boston College but again they need to they need to really use this game I think is hey what can we learn what can we what can we build on from this Boston College game yeah did a little factchecking those teams did play about this time of the year in 2021 Boston College won that one 4134 but that was a Missouri team that went six and seven and again going to be a different Universe of talent I will say this Bill O'Brien a coach that I really respect um that that feels like a a great job for him you remember what he did at Penn State when he brought them out of out of hard times and got the most out of the talent so this is going to be a game that Missouri is going to be heavily favored to win but it but it might not be the pushover because Bill O'Brien's teams do play hard uh which brings up the next game the Vanderbilt Missouri Series has been kind of interesting at times gamees a little closer than maybe Missouri would have liked Vanderbilt's pulled some upsets in that series uh and I think Vanderbilt will be better this year but but again the talent Universe between these two teams is going to be quite different and and I think that Vanderbilt's offense which will be they're going to go to a more uh quarterback mobile system kind of like New Mexico state did when it beat Auburn but I'm not sure Van's got the horses to to hang with with Missouri this one will be in Nashville or not sorry this one will be in Columbia yeah it will I think that's big for Missouri having this one at home uh and it's so hard when you look up and down the schedule and this is uh uh you've mentioned this series is kind of been interesting this is such a different Missouri team though it's it's really hard to compare any team that played to to previous meetings with this team uh because van or because Missouri rather is just so different and uh I think this is a uh you know you want to start SEC playoff you always want to start Conference playoff with a win start off right and I think Missouri has a chance to do that here with Vanderbilt at home in Colombia uh they got a big win over him last year and and I think uh it will definitely be the case for for Missouri once again against Vanderbilt yeah then comes the consult your travel agency portion of the schedule game at A&M will be interesting um I'm not sure when the last time these teams played was um but yeah I mean A&M rebuilding reloading under new coaching staff um g game I think Missouri should win but but Road games in the SEC are not easy you're right and we all know Texas A&M college station that's a tough place to play with the 12th man I think this is one of the toughest games on the schedule for bouri I say one of you got to you go to Alabama uh in in a couple of weeks from this but I say this is the second toughest game behind Alabama for Missouri and I think that says a lot about the schedule Missouri has but it says a lot about A&M I think I think Texas A&M is going to be much improved under Mike Elco it may take them a couple of years to really get the train rolling but this is a game though that you know Texas A&M is going to they're going to have this circle they're going to say this is the game we can show people that we're back at Texas A&M if we beat Missouri so I think A&M is going to be playing with a chip on their shoulder that day I think Missouri better be ready uh as they head into college station uh that first weekend in October because they're going to get all they can handle from Texas A&M and I think the the Tigers need to be ready for that but I think this is going to be a fantastic college football game uh there October 5th in College Station but uh go ahead and and circle this one as one of Missouri's toughest games in 2024 well and this will be a game that you think ANM and the fans will be up for by by this point I think the most likely outcome for Missour is it will be 4 and0 it'll have an off week so Missouri is going to start the season probably ranked top 10 in the polls other teams are going to lose and move down I mean Missouri could be who knows two three four in the country by this point heading into that game and that's when teams start to Circle you on the schedule that that's something that Missouri didn't have to deal with a year before in 2023 and so we'll see how the Tigers handle that now now how did this happen I feel like this is a typo at UMass on October the 12th yeah they they said let's get these non-conference games out quick um I mean they're they're again on the road yeah uh you don't see that much uh and you think about UMass Auburn beat him 59 to 14 last year Penn State beat him 63 to nothing last year uh big win from Missouri I think right in the middle of conference play though so you have A&M watch I mentioned is is one of the toughest you get uh UMass and then you you get Auburn the following week so uh the UMass game separates two SEC games uh but again definitely a game Missouri should win there at UMass all right uh Auburn should be an interesting one uh probably would be a little more interesting if that were in Auburn but but a game Missouri should be favored in we we'll see how H freeze has rebuilt everything thing in year two after what was a disappointing year one for him and Auburn although the the talent was not what Auburn is is used to having I will be very interested to see is Hugh frees is reloaded his wide receiver room um if Auburn can bring an offense to Colombia that's capable of hanging with the high-profile high-scoring unit that that Missour is going to throw out there yeah and I think this is kind of the first game of of a tough stretch for Missouri uh and as we continue to look at the schedule um because it's all SEC games from here on out they will't have a bye-week the first of November but it's the rest of the season is SEC and so uh you you you look at this one I think this is a definitely a winnable game for Missouri uh because like you mentioned I I think Missouri just has a few more pieces than auburn doeses it will be interesting to see where Auburn is at uh at this point of the season in October uh what the offense is looking like is the defense uh uh Top Notch and you think back to last time these two teams played uh again this is because Missouri was in the East Auburn in the west this is a game we not seen a ton of uh but it was a an Auburn overtime win last time they played uh on an on an error from Missouri as they were running into the end zone to win it uh ball came out game over Auburn wins an overtime and so I I can imagine Missouri still has a bad taste in their mouth uh the last time they played Auburn back in 2022 and so uh I think Missouri's going to be seeking some Revenge again Columbia Missouri people may not realize this is a very tough place to play and so I think it's good they've got this one at home and not in Auburn because Auburn is also a very tough place to play but I think having Auburn in Columbia uh definitely could be a win for the Tigers there on October 19th all right speaking of tough places to play um this is where you're glad that if you're Missouri that the playoff has expanded because Alabama could be a a season breaker under a lot of circumstances of course again Nick Sav retired new coaching staff and this is one of these that you you see on the schedule you're like it feels like we don't see that one often and we last saw it during the the opener of of the 2020 covid season but this is kind of interesting because this is one of these times we're in where if you if you rewind to four years ago and say hey Missouri at Alabama in 2024 is going to be a super interesting game you probably would have gotten some strange looks but but A lot's happened since then a ton has happened since then and Missouri winning this game in Tuscaloosa is as as people would like to think that's not even a possibility that is definitely not out of the realm of possibility I think this is a game Missouri could go in and rs him havoc and Tuscaloosa now I I say that but I also believe that Alabama is a cont for the SEC and and a and a playoff team I think they could make the 12 team playoffs so I think this is going to be a huge game in Tuscaloosa uh at this point in October I mean uh they'll be more more familiar Alabama will be with kayin D'Or system and and playing for him and playing under him and so I think they're going to be hitting their stride and playing good football at this point uh but I think it this game is going to show us is Missouri for real because I mean we talked about this is the toughest game on their schedule Texas A&M uh close behind that they got alurn uh but this this we're gonna learn so much about Missouri in this game are they a playoff team are they a legitimate playoff team we'll find out in this one because let's think about it the way the 12 team playoff is now Missouri can afford to lose a game or two yeah and still make the playoff that's just how it's going to be uh you don't have to go undefeated anymore to to make the playoffs so even if even If Alabama wins this game against Missouri I think Missouri is is in a place where they still could make the playoff if they were to to buckle down and win the rest of the games but this is a huge game and I think it's GNA be a a super fun game in tuscalo on October 26 yeah look looking at the schedule at Alabama then Oklahoma that that feels like a good time for an open date in between that's exactly what the schedule makers Missouri so uh Eli drinkwitz can can send a thank you note to somebody in the league office for that one I suppose and then Oklahoma maybe an old throwback Big 12 game this just feels like um you know it's got 48 to 40 written all over it dust off your Chase Daniel bring him out and let it roll you know this may be one of my favorite matchups in in the in SEC this year yeah this Missouri Oklahoma game because of the ramifications that I think could come for this game uh and and Oklahoma they've got a tough schedule but I do think they're going to be in a good spot on November the 9th when this game is played so really you're looking at a game where um I mean last year Sooners 10 and three Missouri 11-2 I mean they've got both teams a lot coming back both teams should be very good once again this should be a super fun game and this is a game where you you really need to win this one I said Missouri you know they could afford to lose one or two well depending on what happens in in previous games I mean this this may be a must-win for Missouri uh against Oklahoma if they want to shot at the playoff but you flip the page and it may be a must-win for Oklahoma at this point as well if they want to shot at the playoffs so I think so much could come from this game and uh and and it's an early November game November football is always so much fun because you're going down the stretch and and so I am super super excited about this Missouri Oklahoma game and yeah kind of rekindling a rivalry from the uh from the Big 12 and so I think this is going to be an excellent game on November the 9th a game that could be very meaningful for both teams at this point of the Season all right this next one um and this is a weird one because both these teams have had kind of the same records in that span but Missouri has owned South Carolina won five in a row last year it was kind of lopsided let me look up the final 34-2 uh that was in mid October about when Missouri really started to get it rolling and and we were starting to figure out hey this isn't six and seven Missouri there may be something more in store here but interesting year for Shane Beamer feels like it's gone a little down hill in South Carolina and I'll be interested this is where Shane Beamer's teams traditionally have started to play their best ball uh you remember them knocking off Tennessee a couple years ago der railing Ten's playoff hopes uh but but South Carolina's just dominated this series for whatever reason and so I think this is interesting it is and I was going to make the the same point I mean you think back to 2022 South Carolina was a November team I mean they beat Tennessee they had a big win over Clemson that year and uh but again this is this is a a different times we're in for Missouri football I mean they are they've turned the corner uh I mean done a complete 360 and they're they're a very good football team a lot of questions about South Carolina this year you know that uh I'm sure they'll have figured out at this point of the Season later on in in November but uh you know I think uh with it being in Colombia South Carolina uh that's a tough place to to play I think this one could be interesting I definitely think it's it's a very winnable game for Missouri but again if South Carolina can put together a good November like they traditionally do we could be talking about another game that Missouri has got to win if they want to get into the playoff they gota win at a place like South Carolina yeah and this next one again Missouri is going to be f faed in this on paper going into the season and and there won't be much debate but I'll be interested to see what Jeff leby does at Mississippi State Just For What It's Worth state will have a bye right before this one uh Jeff Levy is a tremendous offensive mind of course HEI drink with his too if State's able to do a little bit more than than perceive that this could be a game maybe with some offensive fireworks considering the coaches involved that seems like it might be a stretch at this point but uh we just don't know what State's going to have and I'm I'm I'm kind of that that one could be sneakily interesting it's probably a long shot but you never know yeah and and I think again when in whenever we talk about Mississippi State we have to point out I mean there's a lot we don't know about the Bulldogs at this point uh a new head coach not only a new head coach but a firsttime head coach uh in in Jeff leby who you mentioned has been a great offensive coordinator is that going to translate to being a head coach we'll have to see but uh I think he does have some good pieces in including quarterback Blake shap and so uh this could be a very offensive heavy game it could be a fun game a shootout there in starold Mississippi again I think Missouri will be favored I think this is a winnable game uh but it they could make it interesting again it it it all depends on what Mississippi state's mindset is at on the 23rd of November it's going to be late in the season a lot of football has been played if the season hasn't gone great how are the Bulldogs going to be playing I think that's an important factor in this one as well all right all right speaking of mindset let me lead you into this last game Arkansas will have played starting October the 5th these five teams and this isn't the whole schedule but these are this is the meat grinder portion will the play Tennessee LSU Old Miss and Texas going into Missouri uh that that is enough to break just about anybody's Spirit Sam Pitman comes into this season on the hot seats um you know fans are at the point where they just want wins um and so this could be an interesting game it could be a coach on the hot seat or maybe a coaching change has been made at this point because Arkansas's up against it coming into this one and again I I think I want to see I'm not trying to bury Arkansas before the season starts but everybody knows what's out there uh and just circumstances running into just a fifth brutally tough game and that stretch certainly are going to be something that that could really break Arkansas coming into this one yeah it is and and you think back to last year the way Missouri season was going uh and and the way Arkansas's season we going over were two Polar Opposites and yet the game started out very sloppy Missouri did not play well uh they ended up winning 48 to4 but the score was definitely not indicative of the way the first quarter and a half went it was one of those games where you're thinking well is Arkansas going to going to ruin the dreams of Missouri but Missouri again able to pull it out uh so this is one of those rivalry games that uh you know anything can happen but yeah at this point of the season it's it's hard to imagine what Aransas will have been through up into this point and Missouri has a chance again with the schedule they have to be one of those teams who may be on the edge of the college football playoff or you know kind of position themselves in there so this this is the week you you put that exclamation point on the season uh with a with a win like this against Arkansas you get this one at home uh I think could be a uh a big win for for Missouri again to put that exclamation point on what I think could be a very good season for Missouri based off all these games we've just gone through yeah and this feels like a a a kid at Christmas kid waiting for Christmas morning schedule what I mean is you know you stay up all night you're waiting for Santa to come and you you're just kind of getting through the night in August and September and I feel like October 5th is when you see what the presence look like and boy from that point on not a lot of let up on that schedule and and can't wait to see how the Tigers do yeah I can't either uh some of the betting Services have them uh have the line for Missouri at uh nine and a half wins I mean you you got to think if they hit double digits I mean yeah we've talked about this could be the possibility of them being in the in the playoff definitely goes up if they get to 10 wins and again looking at this schedule I I I think that could happen yeah get get to 10 wins I don't see how the committee leaves Missouri out of the playoff Missouri Tigers amongst all the teams getting ready for the 2024 season we're going to be right here along with you to get you set for
