New York Jets Haason Reddick Will Miss Week 1

all right everybody so Hanan reic has not shown up today we got a lot to talk about U waiting on my co-host Ray right now um yeah uh he's not going to play week one so let's get into what that means for uh the Jets vers the ners [Music] [Music] all right Ray you're back I am back where'd you go I thought I heard the baby crying but she wasn't crying all right all right all right so sometimes you hear things when you're you got a newborn but you know it is what it is reic is reic didn't show up today didn't show up Conor Hughes just posted he was a no show um yeah I think it's safe to say at this point he's not playing week one I think it's safe to say that um I mean both sides I think at this point are just being too stubborn I I understand both sides but at some point like someone's got to budge here someone's got to talk I don't think it's the worst thing in the world if he's not playing I think we could win plenty of games without him but I don't think we're going to get over the hump or win the big games unless he's unless he's on the field I take the complete opposite perspective I think that it is huge that he's not here he is a type of guy that defense offensive coordinators need a game plan for and when he's not on the field you're going to guys like Will McDonald and I know a lot of the Jeff fans out there some of the fan booy say ah you know Will McDonald will get some snaps T McKinley they are completely unproven T McKinley can't stay on the field and reck is a proven game record time and time again so like it it's a massive deal in my eyes especially when we're playing the Premier teams now we're lucky with the schedule we have early on in the year you know you're playing the teams like the Titans the Patriots you know not the upper echelon type of teams like the 49ers but this is severely going to affect this game in my opinion considering how much the 49ers like to use their running backs and Christian mcaffrey I could see it time and time again we spoke to Tom Jens in a Sports Illustrated yesterday if I'm the 49ers right now and I know reck's not out there I'm saying where's Jermaine Johnson and where's Will McDonald and I'm running at Will McDonald nine out of ten times until they prove that they could stop it he was awful against the run last year and it maybe it's a little bit of jealousy I don't know if you feel it at all but we heard all the story the entire off season auk's going to get traded he's a stealer he's a Seahawk Trent Williams hasn't shown up it's week one and then they get all their guys back but we still have the same drama story in our camp right um I think look it was obviously a mistake to trade for someone that you had a really good inkling that he was going to hold out regardless of what conversation you had with him before trading for him it still was a bad idea to make that trade without a deal in place but I think at this point I understand at least where Joe Douglas is coming from where he doesn't want to negotiate with somebody that isn't in the building and when he had his press conference he said you know I don't have the luxury of dealing with one person and what he's basically saying in that sentence or in that statement is that if he starts negotiating with a player that has doesn't show up the practice and has never even been a jet has never even walked in the building except for once during a press conference he's sending a message to that entire locker room and to guys like Sour's agent and to guys like Garrett's agent that they can do kind of the same thing and expect that Joe Douglas is going to bend over backwards I think from Joe Douglas perspective that at this point it is kind of the right decision to not negotiate with someone that hasn't shown up but I also understand it from re's point of view he I think reck's agent is doing him a disservice we saw Bosa hold out last year and we saw that it took him a quarter of a season almost half of a season to actually get going if the same thing happens with reic and there yes you can be in shape but you know football shape is totally different MH okay if he shows up late and he is not getting the numbers that you would expect him to get that's going to hurt him in negotiations with the Jets in the off season or with another team in the off season right if he had shown up on time and was in football straighte and was putting up the numbers you'd expect then he'd have way more leverage going into the next off season but he's giving that up he's going for his money now he's going for the home run now which I don't blame him he's already 29 right and he may think this is my last chance to get a contract so I might as well push the envelope but the history of guys holding out regular season games is not good yes Le'Veon Bell got his money from a desperate Jets team at the time after holding out an entire season he lost he never recouped the money he lost he was never the same player he wasn't the guy you thought he was going to be and if reck shows up late he's not going to be in football he may be in shape but he's not going to be in football shape he's not going to get the numbers he he expects he's not going to get the pressures the sacks or even the snaps that he's expecting and he's going to hurt himself in his next contract negotiations the numbers are not going to be there people are going to be like look you already are considered you you're already not considered Hutchinson Bosa um miles Garrett now you want to negotiate negotiate with us whoever that be Jets whoever and you don't have the numbers to back it up because you decided to hold out it's it's Insanity on both sides at this point but I do get have paid when you're 29 what you know he's not he's not Nick Bosa who is 25 or Hutchinson who's gonna be 24 he's 29 looking for a four-year contract that's what we keep hearing and the whole thing was this is why it's so botched and I don't I don't even like talking about it that much because I feel like we're beating a dead horse a little bit but Douglas says he doesn't want to negotiate with guys that are not in the building well then how about this pay the guys that are in your building you had a guy in Bryce Huff right there last year that you decided not to pay so don't sit here and act Joe Douglas Almighty Joe Douglas not newat but I'm saying in general don't sit here and act Joe Douglas said you want to pay your own guys when you let your own undrafted free agent who's 25 years old coming off a 10 sack season the best season of his entire career you let him look out the building for absolutely nothing and then you trade for a headache in a player who you knew was going to be sitting out this season unless he got a new contract he already thought he was screwed playing under the contract that he's currently playing under so I don't want to hear Jeff fan say set a president pay your own guys the Michael Carter contract looks great but pay your own guys but you can't say that when you let a a top tier pass rusher and Bryce Huff walk out the door and you trade it for Howie Roseman is looking around saying who's the sucker that's going to take on this mess oh my old boy Joe Douglas and'll throw me a third round pick for it it's been a disaster from the start it's been a distraction from the start and I feel Joe Douglas should have taken this in a different direction I know the player that Reddit can be but he's made it known from the jump and my feeling my inner feeling is Joe Douglas made a promise to reic and clearly he didn't fulfill it because they made him a contract offer I believe it was Connor Hughes who reported it they made him a contract offer a significant contract offer and he said no thanks then you don't trade for the guy you don't say okay you know what we'll figure out a later date I don't think it was a significant contract offer from what we heard it was a joke from what they offered him well then but if he didn't take it and you knew he wanted double what you were offering him you don't make that trade because at the end of the day you this is what screws this is what this is what Jeff fans I hate this narrative oh it's only a third round pick no it is not because you know what happens Reddit could show up week five and you have to have that $20 million he's making available on the cap well they have it now why it screws it they have it now and yesterday yesterday was yesterday was a complete like mind F between between the restructuring ah I can't talk the restructuring of Quincy the restructuring of Conlin um the or Ric showing up at a school in Jersey City for an for an event and all of a sudden all the beat reporters are driving half hour to Jersey City to go get a comment from him and Michael Carter getting getting his contract well-deserved Michael Carter best slot uh Corner in the league in my opinion but we all thought that the signing was going to happen once the money was made available it had to happen beforehand we knew it had to happen beforehand um but that doesn't mean it has to happen immediately beforehand right if he shows up they they're they're expecting I Connor said that they fully expected him to show up at some point this week it's $791,000 game check that he's going to leave on the table he's not messing around so and yes he was signing Jets memorabilia at at this at this event but he was paid to sign whatever's in front of him probably that's what I'm guessing yeah and apparently the the whoever was there they they they showed up and they they brought the items for him to sign which is fine and if he never plays for it say he holds out for the whole year he never plays for the Jets that's going to be one unique item and and it wasn't even a current helmet it was a it was old it was the old helmet um look at the end of the day Pat think about it we have the money now you couldn't have used that towards another resource you have $2 million you had to open up that's my whole thing is we're we're pushing all the we're pushing dead cat money towards next year to open up money for this guy this year and there's no guarantee showing up now I could be wrong he could walk walk through the building this afternoon you know who knows because you read Twitter people have fake sources all over the place oh he's going he's guaranteed to come in by yesterday you know I got people in the building whatever but you know nobody knows anything the only people that know anything is reic Douglas doesn't even know if Rick's showing up he said in his press conference they haven't talked he said the ball's in reck's court to how anybody would put anything he doesn't even have a Playbook even if if even if he were to show up today he doesn't even have a Playbook now understand it's kind of it's not doesn't take rocket science to go into wide n and rush the passer so it would be sparingly any it would be sparingly used anyway um but for someone who hasn't had any contact with the coaches since that press conference day who hasn't shown up at all who doesn't have a Playbook I don't know what you would expect from him out of week one hell I don't know what I would expect from him out of the first three weeks if he showed up today because again he's not in football shape he's in shape he's not in football shape and I totally believe that these these posts from the Twitter workouts that that they're posting right there was like three or four videos of him doing these nonsense drills right and then the event down in Jersey City that's all his agents trying to get the fan base on his side and it's split pretty much I think me more people are lean if you look at the comments on especially on Facebook people on Facebook are just livid at Hassan reck um if you look always that way though right Facebook is an older crowd and they they have slightly different opinions it is it is what it is but um you I lost my train of thought these these videos and this event in Jersey City I think were all things designed to try and get the fan base on his side and I don't think it worked because the fan base is still pretty split I don't see a big move for people getting behind Red ex site if anything people are watching these workout videos and kind of mocking them being like okay you're you're doing some hand drills here you're doing some footwork so what show up someone in the space earlier this week said they he's doing it by the bridge where they live and he's like there's like 20 20 cameras there trying to get like the perfect angle of the workout that looks the best it's such it's such nonsense um and you know like on our space on our weekly Twitter space xace last night we had Tom Jensen and niner reporter who basically said fided yep who you know he said they're a left-handed team they're going to run to the left now um that you know Trent Williams obviously is is back um he is another guy who I think he may be in shape but even Tom Jensen said he's not going to be in football shape and I can expect him to get even though he is a first ballot Hall of Famer he's a fantastic lift tackle you have to expect that later on in the game someone like that may get worn out because you are playing every snap unlike say reic who showed up who may play 30 20 30% of the snaps If he if he does ever show up um it's GNA be an interesting game on Monday it really is um you're gonna have you know you're gonna have it's GNA be the it's gonna be the JJ vers Trent Williams Show and I think that is going to really determine a lot of the game same thing goes for auk he's in shape but he may not be in football shape right so there's so many different Dynamics going into this game now well not having reic on the team isn't necessarily A detriment to the team at least I think in the first six weeks but he's got to show up at some point he's got to be that home run hitter late in games that he's been his entire career there's a whole reason why you traded for him right because he is a dynamic and F fantastic player so it's it's a mess it's a mess on both sides again I understand why reic is holding out I understand why his agent is doing what he is doing I also understand JD's side of it I understand why he feels he can't negotiate with somebody who hasn't shown up because it sends a message to the locker room and other agents on that team that they can do the same thing they can hold up they cannot show up and Joe Douglas is just going to bend over backwards I like the fact that he signed or got the contract from Michael Carter wh literally while Hassan reck is doing his promotion his camera time during this charity event he's showing that he will pay guys that show up and consistently perform so now let's get a little bit into the game plan for this week that's something that we spoke about with Tom yesterday and it's really interesting to see the 49ers perspective because we're kind of in this New York bubble we you know we're worried about deu and auk and KD and I asked him I said as a 49ers fan what is your when as you're going in not fan but reporter what do you thinking the Jets game plan should be heading into this SE this game and without no hesitation he said the run the run defense at the 49ers teams have shown to run at the 49ers successfully and he's like Bree Hull SC Not scares him but makes him nervous and that got me thinking right away when he said that I feel there's one player on this offensive line that could change this entire game for us and it's not who you think it would be I think it's Elijah Vera Tucker where is he coming back off of injury is he going to be that rookie Vera Tucker who was absolutely mauling people in the Run game I you know that could change everything because I'm expecting to see Monday for the first time we we heard they were going to do it a ton last year they did it like twice it felt like with the two back set but I want to see Allen and Hall in the back field together that is a huge threat Allen up the middle Hall in the passing game that's gonna free up Garrett Wilson it's going to free up Mike Williams who we just seen we were talking about it right before we went live uh Connor Hughes reported that the Jets are are going to have Mike Williams on a pitch count um Monday what that pitch count is I haven't seen anything maybe you have I haven't I I I haven't which you know what which means that Lazard better get his act together and I hope that he has left the soccer ball at One jets drive when they get on the planes at San Francisco that's all I have to say I I understand that he may have gotten disenfranchised last year with Zack Wilson we all did it is what it is um he seems to have had everybody did a little bit everyone was coming down a pikee going back to avt you know run the Run blocking coming back from an Achilles injury has got to be hard it's not like Aaron's Achilles where it's his left leg it's not his plant leg right so and ver Tucker is obviously a bigger guy um it it's going to be interesting to see how how he plays now look no news is good news we haven't heard really a thing at a camp of avt and that's the biggest thing L that's the right that's the biggest thing with linan if you don't hear their name they're doing their job which is fine second we heard Joe titman it was he can't snap the ball remember don't put that in The Ether knock on wood or something seriously don't don't don't put that in it's corrected apparently it has again if you don't hear a lineman's name he's doing a good job and and the other thing compared to last year is you actually have the offensive line um working together practicing together for the first time that didn't happen last year and look and and look look at what happened even though the players weren't as good obviously but they if they don't practice together what what good is it 100% And that's you always talk about the cohesiveness and that's why it's like I'm glad I'm what I'm hoping is Smith being on the left side is going to help Simpson because you know everybody's saying oh he's just an average guard which is true but we saw what a guy like Williams did for Lincoln Tomlinson made him a boatload of money he turns out he was an awful player but he was playing next to a great talent which which elevated him so that's what I'm hoping happens I'm hoping ver Tucker we know how great the potential greatness he has uh titman showed last year he's a solid quality Center who might you know who could get even better this year and you have a stud on the outside and Smith so that's what I'm hoping that it propels us and you know uh interest interesting thing came up on WF yesterday when I was listening listening for salakot and Brandon tyranny and they were talking about what's going to be the Run pass ratio when it comes to the Jets is it going to be two years ago when they were throwing the Bowl 35 times a game Aaron Rogers and Green Bay or is it going to be different and they fully expect us to try to run the ball consistently frequently and early in this game and that might benefit us maybe the Jets decide you know what we're going to put Allen Ard in the slot and that's one thing that guy could do that guy can block in the Run game so that's something that I'm really interested and seeing and is how are we going to attack this run game are they going to try to keep the 49ers offense off the field or we just gonna try to go into a shootout with them uh that's you know that's that's what I'm really interested to see come Monday night I'm interested to see how the Niners are going to run the ball with Christian mcaffrey you know coming back from an injury obviously he's not going to be 100% their left tackle Trent Williams he's you know in shape but he's not going to be in football shape so I don't consider him 100% and according to Tom Jensen they're left guard um he brutal what to say to say the least he's brutal that guy right and if they're a left-handed if they're a left-handed team left-handed running team that that's a big deal so um you agree with me would you stick Germaine Johnson over there with quinnon Williams and say if you're going to beat us at your strength we're putting our strength over there you cannot have McDonald on The Blind Side where they are going to be consistent that's fine put them on that side and have Johnson's have JJ stunt to the inside and take on that left guard eat him alive if he's that bed or feed him alive whatever it doesn't it doesn't matter I still like even with Trent Williams back even with auk back I still like the Jets chances in this game I don't think they're going to get blown out I don't think Aaron Rogers is going to let them get blown out like we've seen plenty of other uh Monday night or national games I don't think that's going to be the case at all if I I I think what is it it's four and a half is the um is the is the spread right now was three and a half less maybe I think it went up a little bit on I think it went up a little bit once Trent um uh signed but um excuse me um I still like our chances in this game I don't if we it's still G to be a tight game win or lose right it's GNA come down to whoever has that last possession um which I will take there Super Bowl team that has right if we can hang if we hang with them and we Lo if we hang with them and we lose by a field goal I'll take that that's fine that means we're competing for a change we all said we all said we the first five games we got to be at least four- one in the first five games as of one day ago the 49ers are minus three and a half so it's it's a pick them because if you think about it the home team automatic gets three points and it's a half point which means it's completely pick them which I'm a little surprised I thought the Niners would be a little more heavily favored they have the chemistry one thing that can not happen is what happened in Dallas last year we can't have where at home we're able to stay with the Chiefs we should have won that game I'm not going to get into why we lost but that should have been a win and then you absolutely lay a turd against Dallas and Dallas isn't as good as the 49ers I want this defense to come out balls blazed into the wall they've got to be aggressive you can't let py sit back there I think they're going to try to get mcaffrey in the game a lot and that's one thing that Jensen brought up earlier yesterday in our interview which which I find a little interesting McCaffrey's been out with that with that injury for a while and he said that he's 100% they're just playing it conservative until game day but another one of the speakers brought up a good point they're like yeah you're 100% until you get hit so it's gonna be interesting to see what kind of effect is Effectiveness does McCaffrey have early on in this game and the the whole running game Sorry the the whole defense defensive line performance from our our side from the jet side is going to determine what happens with reic I it's safe to say right now he's not gonna be there week one right I think's there's no way he's gonna be there week one we all have differen in opinion I don't think he's going to show up at all until week 11 I thought it was week nine got show up by I thought uh Paul did the research you gotta be here by week 11 we all thought it was nine it turns out it's week 11 yeah okay mhm that's a long time yeah see you in Thanksgiving I don't think and like I said in the beginning of the stream I don't think we necessarily need him um to win games but we would certainly need him to win the big games the important ones because we all do expect to be going into the playoffs now again the defensive line performance will determine what happens with reic and him showing up if we go out there and we knock the crap out of we're in his lap all day and the offensive line cannot hold anything and we're stuffing the Run reic shows up fairly quickly I think he him and his agent are waiting to see if we struggle from a defensive line perspective because then he because then the leverage goes back on him he says you need me now you Joe Douglas going to turn around and hand out a four-year contract with $55 million guaranteed I don't see it happen no I don't see it happening either I don't see it happen forever we were told but at least you can get if you there should be some sort of Middle Ground here to get him in he needs his numbers to make his next contract with the Jets or with someone else we need him to play in order to get to where we want to get to right him holding out I think hurts him more than it hurts us in the long run for sure yes because this is only a one-year marriage with us anyways no no Jeff fan out you know any s Jeff fan knows this is a one-year contract because the Jets are going to have to pay pay Garrett Wilson Germaine Johnson Bree Hall all these guys are coming up due so you can't pay a 29y old pass rusher my whole thing is supposedly he was promised a contract which far has said yesterday that he thinks that he still might get a long-term contract with the Jets which I find very interesting but that's what I believe he was promised we were told by Hughes and multiple reporters that we had that you know his contract wasn't guaranteed so the J just need to guarantee his contract for this year and then he'll come in and be fine it turns out that is not the case so what is the actual resolve here unless that is the case unless that is the case and he goes guarantee it and I'll show up and we're saying show up and we'll guarantee it right you get two after week one each other huh do we know that after week one does it become guaranteed how does that work I know I I don't know enough all I know is that he's going to be putting on the table 700 91,000 per game not showing up and he's going to hurt himself in future contracts much he given up already again like 4 million 4.7 million on a $14 million contract he's already down he's already lost a third of the contract he's also third of the contract most teams what they do when you have a sit out for anybody who doesn't know because under the new CBA you can't give fines back so what teams are doing is they're giving it back in what they call a signing bonus quote unot so the team are paying it off their cap the fines but there's no paying $5 million I mean you got to pay him his Sal his contract and then the fines you're I don't see that happening what do you think the what do you think the the the temperature in the locker room will be when he shows up did I lose him Ray technical difficulties folks but going back to my point I'll see if I can get him back on what's the temperature in the locker going to be when he actually does show up right what's going to happen what's going to happen Ray you back I'm here can you hear me yeah we got you okay M what's gonna happen when he finally shows up they can say oh it's all business it's professional right you know we understand whatever but in the back of their head back of their minds we're all human and you weren't here right I get it but and you're creating a distraction you would think so Aaron Rogers said we got to keep the BS and the distractions out of the building right yeah well turns out that's not going to happen but he's such a great player I think they're going to open welcome him open arms just like look he's not the same Caliber Caliber of player but you saw what how the Jets reacted back in 2010 when Rivas showed up the team embraced them because at the end of the day if they win a Super Bowl or get to a championship game everybody on that roster is going to make more money so you bring in the guy that's going to help you do that I mean maybe guys like Will McDonald might not be happy but tough crap you got to play for your playing time you can't be the first round pick that we took 15th overall and play the least amount of snaps out of all first round picks drafted last year that can't happen time to put up a shut off for if Will McDonald and his swim move his spin move takes the NFL by storm then guess what Rex's got less leverage yeah you know it it is what it is there's so much up in the air right now and there's so much more to this game than just the game mhm so much more but you know I I I think yeah I think publicly they'll be they'll be um professional about it the players in the locker room but it'll be hard for them to not in the back of their minds you know put blame on him I feel like for not being there looking forward you know we talked about looking forward we we talked about how you know he can't you know Joe Douglas can't give him a contract um without him showing up because it sends a bad message to the locker room sends a bad sends a bad message to um the other agents there you know looking forward um you have the opportunity there to keep almost everybody if you want to right um minus stevej Reed I think he's a goner yeah just what is he go he's just unfortunately it's a casualty I think you're G to be able to keep s Garrett JJ and maybe Breece I don't know about Bree Bree is a tough one very hard very hard but considering that not in 2025 but in 20126 you can get out of Aaron's contract save money and whoever is playing quarterback whether it's a bridge bridge deal or it's a rookie you won't be you won't be paying a lot there and a year two years down the line the salary salary cap always grows so it is I think the chances of them keeping everybody are pretty high um Bree is a tough one because there is no fifth year option on his contract he's a second round player which both kind of helps and hurts you a little bit but since the NFL has diminished that running back position so much unless he goes out and has Barry Sanders type season and numbers Curtis Martin type season or numbers there's a chance he's not there two years down the line and they're picking a running back every draft clearly yeah well they took two this year I think I think the writing's on the wall I think they're going to say Bree after four years thank you for your service and I hate to say that but if in four years we get a ring or two I'll wear Bree Hall Jersey the rest of my life and he can go off and play for whoever he wants to and he'll still always be a jet no matter what but it's going to be hard because the NFL has diminished that that position by so much it will be difficult to keep him someone's going to have to take a little less money than what they want in order to keep all four of them because that is you know the Yankees always talk about the the core four right our core four right now are s Garrett JJ Bree that's our core those are the skill position players that get the job done and it's going to be hard to keep them all I think they can still do it it'll be a little tough um but we're in a lot of one-year contracts here right now right I think we have the most players going into free agency next year one of the most um the window is now the window is now and next year because that's that's the window we have with Aaron and it's all in and getting reic was an Allin move that to up until this point has backfired that's can't put it so we're winning by two scores we're winning by two scores on Monday two uh I I have the I I thought about this a lot I think the fin if this team goes into Santa Clara and knocks the crap out of the 49ers our post game Space guys everybody who's watching on X we do a halftime space every game we do a post game Space every game you don't need a Twitter account to join you have to find the link on Twitter but you can listen without an account um that space that postgame space is going to go into the we hours of the morning if that happens and I think we have a chance to win that game I really do I think the rosters match up well I think mcaffrey Trent Williams and auk being in shape but not football shape is a big deal and the rest of the uh San Francisco 49ers offensive line is suspect we won seven games last year with a circus at quarterback you can't tell me we can't win three or four more games with Aaron freaking Rogers and a new o line you tell me actually just you talking Ray I lost you what are you looking up Ray you may need to disconnect and come back in I have no audio more to win by two three scores I don't know but I think it's going to be a close game and if it's a close game that still means we are competing we actually have a team to watch yeah well let's what do you have an actual score prediction 2420 Jets I had 28 24 ners well you know you're not I gotta be honest you're not a real fan I will I listen I am a rider to the wheels fall off kind of guy the Jets are going to win every game I had a video on YouTube We're Going 16 and one that last game might lose to San Francisco and then and then win the next four or five in a row right we've said that they have to be at least four- one um yes four- one I think is is is certainly where we need to be in order to make anything out of this season and we're we're facing our toughest opponent week one it's Monday night it's going to be um one hell of a game and I think listen let's be real outside of Aaron Rogers getting injured it's going to be a positive right that's it all right so guys like I said um Nick Faria will be on uh Jets beat Rider Nick Faria he basically leaves one Jets Drive comes home turns on his camera and streams every Monday Wednesday Friday at 5:00 p.m. you're going to get um
