fight it's me Graham hi uh I'm here with wheeler this intro has always been quiet for you you need to get your ears checked there is no way this intro is so loud and jarring what are you talking about please seek help thank you for having me Graham it's great to be here and serge and Nelson or something like that great uh what are we doing tonight well we're playing a four player Auto battler Cube uh and I keep my audio cap to 25% that it's not the intro it's not the intro being quiet it's cuz your audio's cap to 25% well now they're going to knock it down to 12 wheeler cuz you're shouting no they won't even hear me cuz it's at 25% well then they can't hear anybody else oh God what's an auto battler Graham I'm going to ask wheeler to explain all that shortly but first I want to remind let's play all right what are we doing this is an autobattler Cube I'm going to be looking at my phone because there's so much to read but I think it's genuinely straightforward once you get going yeah for those watching in on uh twitch you can there's a link uh that you can follow along or read uh the uh the the rules as well but for the benefit of those who are listening what's going on great so uh this is Ryan Sax's Auto battler Cube it is a cube that looks to emulate the experience of Auto Battlers or Auto chests such as team fight tactics or Hearthstone Battlegrounds or macellum what yeah Mecha Bellum yeah never heard of it um with magic cards uh the way the game works is a lot like an auto battler uh there's a loop between drafting cards and then playing those cards in a mini game so we're not playing full matches of Magic the Gathering we are playing effectively best of one fights with 10 points of life um where the loser gets a poison counter and when you get 10 poison counters you lose the game that amount of poison is going to go up as we continue through the game and go through other rounds and we'll get to that when we get to that uh let's follow the document here and uh get started and then we can kind of slowly get into playing this okay so the setup uh we each have a certain hand size of three which means that uh we are going to play this little mini game with three cards that we have so Ed to bring to this fight um you can have up to more cards uh I guess as the game goes on but we're starting with three um and we have a sideboard for any of the cards that we're not using so I'm going to give everybody a treasure token one for you one for you one for you one for me I'm going to ask that everybody pick five cards from their Cube so to be clear this is a single Cube these aren't individual decks we could grab from any pile we just divided into four CU it was too big I mean what if I do take one from over here sure I'll take one from here and one from here as well almost hit my water uh the cards I'm grabbing from other decks are are bad I'm just going to stick to mine now I don't have a translation guide but I think that most of the non-english cards in here are somewhat recognizable if they are not I also don't know how much that matters like of that know of knowing what another player's cards are right now we're going to get to the drafting portion so the way that this works is that uh we are going to draft then fight then draft then fight then draft then fight and that is going to be I guess a round um this will be relevant as we continue along and increment some of the resources that we have so for the drafting portion uh we have a shop of sorts so each player is going to grab another five cards from the cube uh keep these separate from your hand uh I guess I'm going to say take four from there and I'm going to take one from this pile one two three four five these are much better yeah same uh if you would like to draft one of these cards you have to swap it with a card in your current pool so right now we have five and five uh so it's there's not a huge amount of cards to pull from because this is literally the first draft that we are doing uh but then as we start adding more cards to our pool then we are going to have more options and try to really sculpt a deck of sorts right so how how does how does mana work like because we still have to cast these great question Graham uh so we're going to have these Treasures right there are lands that you can get in the cube but once we are done picking our cards uh we are then going to each receive uh an additional treasure as well as three basic lands of our choice okay and we're going to put them face down okay like that's that's what we're going to start with right is these lands so like if something has a prohibitive Mana cost then probably not great here right if I may make a recommendation all right all right I have selected cards me too although maybe that's interesting can I ask a procedural question we're each going to have five cards that we don't want anymore yeah what should we do with them uh I am going to say that these cards are just going to get put onto the bottom of our piles do we want a bottom or do we want a discard so they don't come back uh I mean part of these games is that you will see some of these cards again I mean if you really want to I would say just Shuffle them just sure yeah sounds good just doesn't have to be too much just a little light Shuffle once we are all done drafting of course this part of it because this is the first time as we go through the instructions a little bit slower but uh once we we're literally just doing the same thing over and over and over again right the idea being that all the cards that you didn't draft are going back into the pool that you might see later or that your opponents will see later right and then unlike other Auto Battlers this is Singleton there's not multiples correct I can't get like two lanoir elves or three lanoir elves in turn into what's the the literal three L elves stapled together yeah right and like upgrade it cuz I thought when you first pitched I thought it'd be really interesting if they had it was the legendary creatures that have like upgraded versions of themselves like Bor rmos turns into Bor Brios enraged or something like that you know but that might involve a whole bunch of weirder things going on in the brain you know yes that's a funny idea it's like it's like a magic version of like threes yeah right so we all have five cards we all have one treasure and then we pick three of these and that's our starting hand uh yes well first off now that we are done the drafting portion uh and before we are paired although for this round to make it easier on folks uh we are going to start with a pairing of Nelson and myself and Graham and surge okay uh each player receives an additional treasure one that that that uh and then each player alongside that treasure gets three basic lands of their choice uh I am going to I guess this can be private but uh I don't know this and this dealer hit me with three swamps three swamps oh boy uh Mountain a swamp and of plains uh I'll get the gram yeah three color we mardu in it so these go face down yeah I mean I think this part might need to be random but for the sake or doesn't need to be but like you know for the sake of our setup uh so now we each have two treasures and we have three basic glands um each player selects their starting hand from their pool uh so we are going to select the the starting hand sizes three for this one uh we're going to se select three cards from our pool for this round the rest go into our sideboard uh once we start adding more cards to our pool the sideboard is going to act as like the place that we reserve cards for future rounds um because after we have selected our starting hand we don't have any Library just in case people are wondering about that at home and you don't lose the game for not being able to draw a card uh and F's Oracle is not in I was about to say I cast Oracle no uh play players select up to nine cards from the remaining card pool as their sideboard so again we've selected three the rest go to our sideboard uh and then everything that is not in your sideboard or your starting hand gets turned into Treasures then we are paired thly so now we get to start uh the magic mini game is played just like a normal game of magic except 10 life starting hand size equal number of energy or the the round I guess don't lose the game loser of the Min game get a poison counter if it's aw both and the player with the most poison counters gets to choose play or Draw or it's TI it's so we got a D6 to make sure who goes first here between Nelson and I I'm sure I R an 11 on 12 come on I'm sure that Paul is seen your comments about the audio and is frantically working on it okay yeah double wheeler oh should I just not talk until I can talk should be fine now you're good great okay uh so now we're going to play this mini game at the end of this mini game players with treasures on their side of the battlefield get to keep up to one treasure for each uh energy so for whatever round it is it's it's round three uh or sorry we we start with three okay um so we get to keep up to three Treasures that we have uh in play um and then after this uh we each get a random card from the cube okay so this is how we start to add more cards to uh the pile so uh shall we fight for our our yeah how do how do these lands work uh they're just here oh okay okay they're just face they're just face down PR opponents don't don't see them and then they start the game in Play that seems like an important question this this is what it says three basic land choices on the battlefield face down so Earth to Jordan in chat to clarify there should only be one treasure at the start of game one oh okay great well then we only have one Tri okay this makes it easier uh okay good luck good luck okay you're taking the first turn so let's talk about the treasure this is both a game object in the game of magic and a metagame part for the cube so you can use it to accelerate your turn one or to reshuffle a draft yes yeah you can use them to uh roll to get a new pack basically and it will also persist between games correct uh assert up to a a limit you can't just float like a million Treasures yeah no casting 12 drops until later or whatever but I would like to cast a three drop okay turn one we play a blade splicer blade splicer let me get you a Golem there buddy we have the Cur there maybe we should move these uh trigger I'm going to make a 33 fxing Golem and I'm going to pass uh for you thank you he's got four four power turn one yeah all flashing philia exuberant shepher oh that's pretty good it's a dog yeah and then I'll untap and attack you and Exile your Golem my Golem is exile uh I will take two go down to eight I got you I got you beep boop well that kind of bricks my strategy what a start uh I'm going to try attacking you for one no blocks I'm going to play a generous plunderer oo uh two two Menace getting of my upkeep I can create a treasure token if I do you get a tap treasure token and when it attacks it deals damage to the defending player equal number of artifacts they control okay uh then I'm gonna pass yeah I'll untap um dog dog and like Treasures the the treasures that you're given at the beginning of the game aren't different from Treasures that are generated during the game I guess yeah that's what I was asking there's a ton of treasure generation in here so that you can actually like make plays that also um will help your economy me what a cool idea I'll attack and Exile your generous plunderer with faila my plunderer is exiled I take another two take two down to six uh plunderer comes back yeah upkeep uh I'm going to make a treasure token and then treasure you got to tap treasure okay great uh I'm going to tap two and play a luminarch aspirant luminar oh that's a good one that's a very good one okay thinking uh oh you got D6 yeah I'll cast swords to flashers targeting your luminar cast BR all right it's Excel so wheeler now has no cards in hand yeah Nelly still has one card in hand yes I don't know where my graveyard is uh I would like to go to combat um did you get the health for the plushers yeah y okay yeah that's fine I'm going to attack with these two uh when this attacks uh you're going to take damage equal number of artifacts you have take two and I take three more so I take five total so that's seven and then takes three more down to four uh go ahead okay untap draw um your treasure is also unta oh yeah that's important that's important I'll cast oh I guess just like this works I'll cast Prismatic ending targeting the generous plunderer okay so I'll Exile that and then I'll Attack for two and Exel nothing so now we got ourselves a good oldfashioned race here well I attack down to three Nelson attacks me down to three down to three and then I attack him down to two two heack down to one I attack him down to one he he kills you and it's sort of deterministic at a certain point so all right cu no wait no now that's the end of the game and we have these two Treasures here so those can stay right we keep the treasure and then does something else happen wheer gets one poison counter one poison counter and then we each get a random card from the cube okay and this just goes into our pool goes into our pool no no you you count you counted life back up and then I'll take the basic lands back okay sure uh and then uh we got wingus and Dingus over here all right thank you hello Graham hello uh you rolled a seven I can do better than that I rolled a six turns out I cannot in fact do better than that love that good luck have fun thanks you too um slick SHOT show off are you plotting that or I'm casting okay uh it's got haste I hit you for one uh I cast this member and kill it okay that was my entire plan so awkward cheers no I'm absolutely ruined if you kill that well so there is a rule that you're not supposed to I know no it's fine also surge might have a way to like make treasure tokens yeah I know okay we find out uh I'm going to lead with a blackmail uh show me randomly up to three cards in your hand and I get to discard one of them uh you have a helix which is removal spell and a grim monolith I think I I think this was a turn two kill nice oh otherwise Yeah well yeah cuz this hits you for one yeah and then next turn I play Grim monolith into this this this becomes five and three from this oh so big yeah uh and then I have to just show a way to kill you uh my threat is emperor of Bones great isn't it just a draw cuz he can kill that oh no you take the removal spell with the black yeah I take the removal SP but then he can Flash it back flashback I do a flashback Ian it is a draw uh at the beginning your Comon turn up Exile up to one Target card from a graveyard okay okay yeah so I I I discard it you make me discard this and then play I go to combat I Exile it and then I beat well I play Grim monolith nice all right so Graham takes one poison close one yep uh get poison all right so the Nelly surge side of the table is looking a lot better here uh we both go up to we both go up to two treasure we did win round one is that correct we get a treasure oh okay yeah uh did we get a treasure the game I'm noticing you both have two Treasures but that's CU I play a treasure card yeah oh okay those happened in the game yeah and now we take a random card and we add it to our sideboard pool yeah okay well yeah to your pool great now we do that a couple more times okay uh is there is there a round where other wait that was the round or was there supposed to be a third game uh are you supposed to play no no not yet so we we have the m now we draft and then I'm going to fight either you orge uh and then after that match we draft again and then we'll fight who we hav fought it's only ever two or whatever we're going to draft in between each time you play the and so now the next thing is we have six cards yes we draft five yes but we never go above six or under six this always stays six correct just one yeah yeah okay and then Earth to Jordan says you do gain one treasure at the start of the round not at the end okay so we get one more I thought it was yeah between each drafting I thought we were going to go up a card and up a treasure all right uh these are all bad I think it's just a card so and then when does our we just said you're getting a treasure now too you're going to get a treasure well at the beginning not at the end at the start of the game play yes yes so not now oh the start of the game not the start of the draft okay thank you all right all right um thank you very interesting is it always three Basics we get yeah okay so I guess you can grab you can just grab five and then just make sure you put five back right yeah so the only way you can cast High Mana cost cards is by saving up your Treasures yeah I saw this card in pack one and I got rid of it well you said you wanted to see things come back nothing changes um I have a card in German yeah um you know what it does I believe I do just wanted everyone to know that there are in fact wheeler classic German foils in the cube one of these so when does Our Deck become more than three cards uh after every round of like we've played against each other it increments up to four energy so then our starting hand is four cards okay I have five cards that I'm putting back I have five cards that I'm putting back you can translate it well I can also always just put it on the card reader and get the English text but then everybody knows they know but thank you all right okay put your CS back my deck has not gotten noticeably better I just need you to know that and then these are on the these going to the bottom you Shuffle it in oh yeah so there's a chance that you reach TR sick Myck is sick we're okay all right so now everybody's pool is uh six cards and your and your hand is five card or hand is three cards yeah three still or sorry you you just asked this okay still three all right uh may I have three swamps again please which means that even though you saw the other person's game it won't necessarily they don't necessarily have the three exact same three cards as they had before I'm taking JN that's my sideboard which you need three ples I love these face down lands I would also like jund are you going to jund them out oh we'll see I kind of think it's funny if it's if just the colors are revealed like it add are like oh jeez what are they right what are they up to what's different also yeah there has to be kind of a little um concession for the viewership mhm yeah uh so now we get to decide who is fighting who yeah Wheeler's got no blade splicer we know this Pass me6 unless the thing is you could be casting your blade splicer on Treasure it's true you know what that's true a I fight Graham even I fight search sure uh I'm going to fight surge which means that Graham will fight Nelson yeah sounds good and then you have more poison so you automatically get to go first so at the start of the turn we both get a treasure yes I'm I am the treasure keeper okay uh I am going to play a tarian Academy I guess this one I could put on the yeah all right I guess appropriately uh Academy Von oh my man let's go okay couldn't go to a more deserving person then I'm going to uh pass sick draw for the turn haha just kidding blackmail oh right you have blackmail no I forgot you have BL your discard oh I have a veral and a chaos defile all right let me look at them both please you have creature creature got and now he's going to Emperor bones you to yeah no no no I can scavenge this chaos toiler well no cuz all right I take the chaos defer he's going to give you the bones yeah all right he gets and then I get to cast the Emperor of bones okay and then I get to immediately go to combat and Exile your card okay yep yep yep yep so I win all right wheeler is at to infect I'm yeah this is I'm just getting okay yeah all right so the game is over y uh we both add a card to our pool yes get just to double check there wasn't any chance to for somebody to cast a uh treasure or something during that game that you skipped through right no no no no se they lowkey played the whole game yeah yeah yeah that's what a whole game of magic looks like I do like that the tarian academy has like the endowment of it's like the treasure is like the Academy's endowment that gives it the amount of Mana it can cast I'm just building up a lose streak so that I get interest right get more money next round right and speaking of another treasure for so one last question during cleanup what is the maximum amount of treasure you can have because you said it cap equal to the number of the round basically three three okay the game uses energy like the descriptor says like put an energy counter with the the round timer on there so you can always refer to that that's how many that's your hand size uh and that's how much treasure you can uh roll over I guess yes I'm econ yeah gotcha so you can go first if you want unless you don't want to I do wish to I wish to do that all right so right slick SHOT show off slick SHOT show off right it's back on the escalator right I'm casting it not plotting it okay um move to combat you got it I attack uh no blocks take one okay Right Nelly is at nine i h the right left total I and one philia thank you for some reason it's really hard for me remember put on the card reader with these four Stacks around the card yeah on tap attack for two yep I'll Exile your show off and it comes back though yeah it comes back cool go ahead yeah I want to draw priming magic players with their favorite thing exactly yeah you just have to remember you get to draft again soon yeah it's like even better than drawing a card it's drafting yes yeah yeah yeah don't worry the draft it's coming we just have to finish this and reach and whenever it becomes tapped deals damage equal to its power to a creature okay so does it get another prowess trigger that too does yeah so it's five power currently so I attack legless is quick reflexes trigger deals five damage to filia and this is coming at you what's how big is it it's a 52 flying hex proof reach oh wait treas is this in response to the trigger targeting failure is your dog dead the first thing yeah responding to that trigger I'll put the dog in the graveyard when it dieses y I'll cast rest angel angel Restoration Angel on Top This failo mhm don't get it killed excuse me sorry okay so it's a 52 yeah and I'm at what and you're at what you are at six and gr's at 11 so am I supposed to block probably because otherwise I'll just lose to that SMY Helix right you can Target me mhm how much does it cost to flashback two okay will red and white I believe this is a draw it looks like a draw does yeah because then gr kills the dog and then yeah do you we like to draft yeah let's do it all right let's draft I keep seeing this stupid oh I don't like this pile anymore stop this card this card's in the cube but I put the other card that combos with it away uh close your eyes please what in the world old are you I'm opening them again I'm not looking card reader it's a depletion land what's a depletion L comes into a play tapped with two depletion counters tap remove a counter from it add two of that color okay so it could do that twice yeah but it comes in Tapped sure um I'm just going to take these five and shuffle them back in yeah you could reshuffle with your uh oh I can spend a treasure Paul you're so smart you can spend a sh to reshuffle I'm actually going to roll too sucks yeah this pack is awful all right I think I'm going to keep this thing for combo potential right so that's why you get your treasure thank you that's why you get your treasure at the beginning of gameplay so you can't necessarily use using using both my treasures and losing sucks yeah sorry Graham that's okay you're you're playing the game oh good cards what you're not allowed to have those and so we will start next turn with four is that correct four cards uh after this round yeah so one more one more round at three energy and then we bump does it bump up to four energy then uh yes now are we this is kind of unclear to me whether we're supposed to make sure that every round of three you play everyone or if it's supposed to just be like truly random every game like are we just supposed to be rolling the dice like after each time we draft no we we play You're supposed to go through the so this time that this time it's you two and me and we oh my God my deck sucks my plan sucks my hair whack my clothes tired whack his fit whack um I like your matching two-piece oh no I do as well oh no yes it's quite it's quite nice I'm not talking about me obviously no why would I my fit's not whack his so here's a question uh a very specific timing question yeah when you know you're in a match up can you sideboard like after the five cards are put back and you build your deck is there a chance to be like Oh I'm against Graham I knew last time he played legolas's reflex and can I make a change at that point when I know the matchup or no uh in this point you can because the matchup is the last part of the deck building process so you make your main board and then your sideboard and you get the excess treasure and all that um but there's still the opportunity for you to fight any one of us however at this point in the game I know I'm fighting Graham you know you're fighting Nelson so you can I know I'm fighting Nelson yes cuz Nelson is the only person you have not fought my dear boy that's true curious okay and still on three card handing Earth to Jordan Earth to Jordan are you the the the the person who did the rules up or are you just into this I'm I'm just I'm just curious anyway they say You're supposed to build the hand before yeah yeah yeah you're supposed to build the hand before but also playing but we know in this place we know who we're fighting you know it's it's you up against the dog so in a under normal procedure could you random into the same pairings each time or no my guess is no because that's also just not how it how Auto Battlers work yeah they try to PA you against different people and auto Battlers but the first thing is to try to get people to who are at about the same level so sometimes you end up playing against like two alternating people several rounds in a row in a group of eight so Captain SP said wouldn't it be wild if Earth Jordan was just making up rules I mean that's you that's why I asked no offense to you Earth Jordan but I'm like who are you yeah do you do I believe you I don't know right you'd be surprised how often that does happen just people are like oh it's this you're like oh really how'd you know they're like I don't know that wouldn't surprise me at all if they the original if they the originator of the they did literally make up rules but there there's Ryan sax hey Ryan hold our hands Ryan all right all right we ready to rock and roll I have I have my three card deck assigned I have my three lands that you totally don't know about ready oh yeah can I get two ples in a swamp a swamp yes he changed one card maybe uh teamer please oh oh Graham changed many cards or did I this slick SHOT show off is going to kill someone I feel like it's good for this this thing right um okay uh so we both have the same amount of poison counters so we randomize girl first do we and we get treasure H or even uh odd all right you go or you choose so now wheeler is white white white he was juned last time and he played at tarian Academy and he played atarian Academy to in Academy turn all right uh I'm going to tap it for three four five six and use a treasure uh to cast chassler or oh I sorry I'm also revealing that I have a I forgot I revealed this so uh the first spell you cast this game is counter unless you pay one gross okay and now it's a 56 flyer that says whenever you cast a spell counter it unless you pay one this is a classic three card blind and then that's a go right um and that's the it's the first spell I cast this game and then is the is the first part of that and then the second one is just a flat tax on stuff yes yeah all your stuff is going to cost one more and the first one's going to cost two more okay cool uh in with that with with with the angel on the stack then uh I'm going to cast three sponton Elber is instant right yes cool I'm G to stomp your face okay oh uh two damage to Wheeler's face okay okay so now we've used up the trigger yeah yeah so now it's just the static ability static cool which like still sucks because y I've only got the one treasure uh Ryan for what it's worth I tried to I tried joining the Discord and all the links were down well I gotta TR I would like to join the Discord I got to try for it and maybe I'll just get owned by using my treasure again but uh kite sale list uh I would like for your chanler to become a treasure okay and lose all of its abilities oh what a draw yeah go ahead he's changed so many cards from his if the game ends right now is wheer allowed to keep that Chancellor in play and then spend it to roll later uh I have this blade sper again and uh I make a Golem okay um I'm going to pass so Grand has one unknown card and a 4-3 that could come down later very curious very curious I do believe I'm dead and you're out of cards right yeah okay if it's a flyer then so can win I will yeah I will oh is that thing flying this thing is flying oh yeah I'm dead okay yeah we dead for uh just on just on pure math race uh you have a flyer you 43 can block this Golem but yeah I'll Attack for two okay so wheeler goes to six play the giant okay yeah go ahead doesn't this have first strike it does okay but it do trade but it it changes the math enough I can't I can't race and if I just hold this to block I just die to this F so can't answer the flyer right I was all in on this Chancellor hopefully uh doing something you played a ramp strategy I kind of like it uh do you I I am going to F6 so you can't concede oh yeah do you want to make another treasure or something like oh uh you ready to win no I just do I do we is this like a reveal the other cards I would die yeah that's fair it's like does Rock sand just just have meteors constantly falling to the ground around her like as she just like walks around so so we're up one card now so everyone another team battler or or just like an auto battler that's meaningless to me I have never played or looked at an auto battler in my life so when you're like just like an auto battler it does this I'm like cool I guess so it's just kind of funny I'm coming at I'm coming at this from the magic side wheeler was like hey you want to do a autobattler cube and I was like I don't know what that is sign me up sounds sounds fun and it is yeah adjective plus cube is usually enticing enough to get any magic player to want to do it yeah I was like what's not a badler cube I was like I assumed it was like going to be a like a thing that plays itself oh right like you we as players fight fight a thing that is like programmatically set up to like do a thing all right we starting yeah all right I got pay two in a red any number of times and when I pay that cost one or more times I put that many plus and plus one counters on it and Exile that many instant or sorceries with Mana value three or less for my graveyard and copy them and I can pay the copy without paying Mana cost I pay that cost once okay light Helix exiling Lightning Helix so put a counter on bloodthirsty adversary and I cast Lightning Helix for free sweet Rel result we taret you great I take three okay we have a deterministic winner way to go because that illuminates can I am I alive well no you die to Lightning Helix okay I was confused when and that puts you to 10 poison which means everyone's eliminated but wheeler good game good game good game thank you for drafting this everybody heck yeah I think it's a lot of fun I agre this was great yeah good times I want to do this again yeah should gr be able to win as a ghost yes yeah AB absolutely speaking as a ghost yes I mean no no it makes for a better that that was that's like also the awkward spot where even the cube uh kind of primer says like when it's down to two people you know maybe just don't have the ghosts just do one one but we went down to
