so the Oklahoma Sooners got some shockingly good news ahead of the temple game it's actually news that I quite frankly did not expect to come this early maybe a lot of you guys as well did not expect it to come this early and that is the news that Andre Anthony is going to be returning to the lineup for the Oklahoma Sooners and their first game out and there's a lot of ways that you could look at this uh but it also comes with the news that there's going to be a star wide receiver that will not be playing so let's jump into it let's uh discuss it a little bit so as always join the discussion uh jump in the comments below give me your thoughts let me know what you guys are thinking about andrel Anthony returning to the lineup additionally I'm I I'm trying to get to 13,000 subscribers before Friday before okoma kicks off so uh we're like less than 100 subscribers away so if you're one of the 70% that watches my videos and is not subscribed just make sure you check the Subscribe button really helps me out let you know you guys like this content we got a lot of good stuff coming up uh especially potentially a new side podcast that's going to be here on this channel coming up with some recruits so stay tuned for that but we got to talk about andrel Anthony because last year he was Oklahoma's leading wide receiver going into Texas and this was a guy that when he came in from Michigan uh he was a really high upside guy but you didn't like think oh like he's goingon to be one of our best wide receivers or even a number one wide receiver right I think a lot of people thought he'd be you know number three number four on the depth chart but he quickly got up to the number one spot and just three receptions in that first game against Arkansas State he had 66 yards with an average of 22 uh his longest catch was 45 in that game and so I look at Andre Anthony coming back in the temple game and this shocked me a little bit because even if he was cleared to play in this game I didn't expect the coaching staff to put him out there this quickly because coming off the injuries that he had last season then the set back that he had this off seon it just really felt like you are going to save him for probably the start of the SEC play especially with how deep that wide receiver room is now that does beg to the question though with how deep your wide receiver room is are you going to play more freshman in this game and you know zandre Anthony just like the Arkansas state game gonna only probably get a few targets and receptions before you pull them out right that's something that we're all gonna have to watch and wonder about but this also came with the news from Britt venables this past weekend and I believe I saw George Stoya tweeted out as well that Nick Anderson uh is going to be held out of this game and that's probably not something we need to be too concerned about because uh we were talking about it with Jay and Coupe last night on their podcast which is if this was a game like Tennessee or Auburn where you would have needed Nick Anderson to play he probably could play because Brent venables has made Brent vbl has made the distinction this off season of making sure everybody knows the difference between being injured and just banged up or hurt right you can still hurt you can be hurt and go out there and play to be injured a little bit different story you can't go out there and play when you're injured so uh Nick Anderson probably just banged up a little bit listen fall Camp it's difficult and listen uh if Nick Anderson gets dressed this game maybe next game I I don't think you need Nick Anderson probably in these first three games you shouldn't need Nick Anderson in these first three games in my opinion uh Temple is just an overall around overall allaround bad team uh Houston I mean is Houston GNA be much better I I think they're one of the teams that's picked to be a bottom feeder in the Big 12 Tulane will probably be your best non-conference opponent but outside of that Oklahoma's offense I feel like it's so Dynamic you have so many athletes in that wide receiver room is so deep I mean if you look at some of the freshmen that have came in this past season whether it's a Zion reagens or a um uh or a KJ Daniels or a Zion Kerney um Ivan K on any of those guys or you look at some of the guys you had last year like a jaqu pedway or any of those dudes like this wide receiver room for Oklahoma is so deep and I think Oklahoma has a lot of different directions that could go which is kind of what I'm going to be watching for and we're going to talk about the Temple game later tonight at 9:00 p.m. so make sure you guys are tuning into that live you guys can go ahead and find it over here on the page but one of the things that I'm going to be watching for this weekend is uh what freshman wide receivers or red shirt freshman wide receivers uh actually stand out in this game actually get a lot of runtime uh who is impressing emit Jones the most who see the most time on the field I do believe you're going to see Deon Burks and the Brennan Thompsons quite a bit uh but probably about Midway through the second even into the second half you're probably not going to see them so that means a guy like JJ Hester who supposed to be potentially replacing the role of Jaden Gibson you might see him a little bit more you might see a Zion Kerney and a Joz pway or Zion Ragin or somebody like that which I think would be a lot of fun if you're an Oklahoma fan you get to see a lot of the young guys see what they're made of and see what EMT Jones has been cooking up and exactly why he goes out there and recruits these players but for andrel Anthony to be able to go out here in the first game and get some reps and get some runtime this is good because some of these injuries just like Andre Anthony had a lot of them are mental right it's getting over those injuries the first time and being able to come back with the right standpoint and and the right mindset to be able to go out there and continue to dominate so you look at Andre Anthony be able to come back it's shocking news way earlier than I think I well way earlier than I expected maybe a little bit earlier than what you expected uh but Nick Anderson being out you know what if you're an Oklahoma fan I wouldn't worry too much we'll see uh what his status is for the Houston game if he's back then then if you're an Oklahoma fan you see this as an absolute win maybe you're just keeping out so he doesn't get hurt he doesn't need to necessarily play that game against Temple uh we already know he would have racked up the yards anyways so if you're an Oklahoma fan I want to hear from y'all make sure you are joining the discussion jumping down in the comments below I want here what true freshman or even a red shirt freshman wide receiver you want to see get the most touches in this game we ran this poll a couple weeks back asking you which wide receiver overall was going to get the most touches and it seemed like DM Burks was the fan favorite we're going to switch it up we're ask red shirt or true freshman which one do you want to see get the most targets or even the most receptions in this game if you guys have not already and you guys have made it this far make sure you guys are joining the discussion jumping down in the comments below hey until next time Boomer
