this big party you're doing on Monday the watch party you did make sure that the place that you're having this party at does not have Direct TV as their primary television operator right because I think that would take a lot of the buzz out of the party if he can't actually oh I don't know watch the game you know what I'm saying yeah you make a great point I I have confirmed that uh no matter what's going on with Direct TV and Disney that the game is going to be shown and I know you ran into that issue last week right you're trying to watch the LSU USC game I saw your Tweet Direct TV pop boom there it goes you can't watch any of it still running into it and you know I'm a big tennis guys you know and so you know the the final week of the US Open here for the last four or five days I've been listening to it on the uh internet radio stream like it's 1940 for crying out loud listening to tennis on the radio so it hasn't been fun hopefully this thing gets resolved because there's a lot of people like myself that were annoyed over the whole thing well I'll tell you what Dan as I thank you for coming on I am a uh noted pirater of logins to various things I think you know that when we did that DNR show together last year so I got you if you need an ESPN login all right I'll text it to you after the show I appreciate it and hopefully the authorities aren't watching any cops out there I mean just look the other way um as far as this jet season goes Dan I mean you and I were we're talking a little bit before it just feels like the second Rogers went down a year ago we have been waiting for this moment again because no matter how you thought the Jets would do Post Rogers injury there was no path for them to truly compete for a Super Bowl in the opinion of many certainly my opinion so here we are once again how do you feel about this team just a couple days out from it starting up once again with Rogers Well I think it hit it on the head right I mean I think as we've gotten closer here it starts to come into focus a little bit clearer and you know I've just no matter who I talk to whether it's players people around the team even just you know people in the business it's almost like this date has been circled on the calendar pretty much since the fourth play of the season last year and I even have to remind a couple of guys yesterday when I was in the locker room I was talking to Breeze Holland and he didn't even you know put two and two together that wow it's almost a year to the day like athletes don't think like we do right they're just worried about hey tell me who we're playing when and I'll be there they're not looking at all the secondary storylines but think about it right it was September 11th of last year Monday will be September the n9th and I think from the fourth play of the season I think anybody around the New York Jets realized all right to win big we're going to have to get the quarterback on his feet healthy and a part of this offense again and that wasn't going to happen until Monday night so I I don't know if it's going to be the fifth play of the Season or the fifth game of the season I don't know when you feel truly okay that we put last year completely behind us but uh it will be nice to see the quarterback out there because now you have a chance to do some special things once again what have been your thoughts on the quarterback watching him this Summer I've been to about five practices you been to a bunch of them probably more than I have you watched Aaron Rogers up close all summer what are your thoughts on how he looks and how that maybe translates to your expectations for him coming off this injury with this team his age all the storylines that surround Aaron roggers it's night and day right I mean I mean it's night and day last year and look I don't want to throw shade or cold water on any of the guys that held the quarterback position down last year I mean clearly they're not Aaron Rodgers and and there's not many guys that play this game you know have his skill level you know only one guy's won more than four MVP or for MVPs and that was pton man you know what I mean so think about what this guy's accomplished he's one of the best to ever do it but it just completely translates what this team is capable of doing right and I don't even think when you look at this roster because that's the other thing too Jake right I mean you look at the roster from top to bottom it's a better roster than even the one that they opened the season with last year I don't even think Aaron roders needs to play at an MVP level for this team to be successful I mean if if you got the season that he played in Green Bay in 2022 which was okay maybe not at his MVP level but it was still going to be Head and Shoulders better than anything the Jets have gotten at the quarterback position in years that's more than adequate for the Jets to arguably win a division win playoff games and make a deep March into January February I really believe that I think the biggest difference Dan when you bring up the roster year-over-year is one obviously you have a better backup and tire out if God forbid there is some sort of conventional you know quarterback injury to Aaron but this offensive line I think has a chance to be a strength maybe like people have said oh it just needs to be average well you know they get some injury luck along the way and you know you feel pretty good about Olu fasino being your your swing tackle find me a team that has that as their sixth offensive lineman if they stay you know relatively healthy which is a big if with the Jets I understand but this this strength of the team with Bree and this o line like you're not asking Aaron to throw 35 40 times a game I think this o line has a chance to be the best the Jets to put on a field since the last time this team had sustained success in 2009 2010 and you saw Baltimore last night in the opener right you don't think they're going to miss the two guys who were starting for them last year and now we're going to be starting for the Jets and you know it's funny maybe the most unheralded guy on this offensive line is John Simpson because I think that a lot of the people around here don't know him that well they didn't really get a chance to lock in on him when he was with Baltimore and but Aaron Rogers talking him up again yesterday and you know other guys have talked him up all throughout Camp I think Jet fans are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see him slide into left guard starting on Monday night and really just see this offensive line a whole unfortunately you know fans kind of almost don't get a true appreciation just how good a player Elijah ver Tucker is because we haven't seen him finish a season in each of the last two years think about what it means to have him back into the mix and you know Tyron Smith I mean the Jets haven't had a tackle protecting The Blind Side this good since you know de Bria Shaw Ferguson's best days you know and if he could just stay out there and stay healthy they're going to do all they can to minimize his practice reps and minimize the wear and tear to make sure that he can go out there and play as many games as possible that's a a huge huge pickup for this football team and you know you mentioned Olu think about all the valuable work that Olu is going to get this year during the week because they're going to give Tyron Smith his veteran days and you know he's not going to practice some days and then Olu is going to get those first team rep so in a pinch if he does have to step out on the field he's going to be more than prepared to go out there and play so for the first time in a very very long time yeah if they could stay upright and we say that about a lot of things right if if if I think the offensive line is really in a good place and should be a foundation for this football team so here's really the question I have and you know Dan rovski you know made this comment the other day and I've been saying it for months on the show like if you just look at the Jets roster right remove Jets from the helmet to me they're as talented as any team in their own division maybe the most talented team in the division I would pick them to win the AFC East I I think comparing the roster to some of the other teams in the conference it's right there with any of them so other than the caveat of Health which you could say for every team I promise you if Lamar Jackson went down on the fourth play of the season last tonight the Raven season would be cooked as well but besides Health what stops the Jets from being a damn good football team this year because they won seven without out a quarterback the last two years with mediocre quarterback play this to me has a 10- win floor what are your thoughts on that you just said it you just said it help right and again you could say that about a lot of teams as we as we noted right especially at the quarterback position yeah you take either one of the two quarterbacks off those teams that played last night they're not even close to Championship caliber not even close I mean they might have good Seasons but but you're not talking about them winning the whole thing and and you know you look at the last two years they've had top five defense they've had Top Flight special teams what's been the thing holding them back it's the offense so really if you want to narrow it down that's the side of the football that they can ill afford to have any sort of issues you know they've got plenty of options at wide receiver uh you got arguably the best Do-it all back in the league not named Christian mcaffrey and Bree Hall you know the offensive line is in a good place you know the tight end position you know Tyler conkland I'm I'm going to be thrilled to see what he's going to be able to unleash this year having real legitimate quarterback play deliver him the football I think he's primed for a huge season this year so yeah I think it's the offensive side of the ball staying healthy the quarterback the offensive line those are I think the only drawbacks that will prevent this team from really having a special season we're talking with Dan graa you can listen to him on ESPN New York and of course you can listen to them all jet right if I say to you give us some keys to a successful season and don't say health because that's obvious but outside of Health for Rogers and some of the key veterans we talked about give us your keys for this Jets team to you know be a playoff team be a division uh Champion type of team and go on a playoff run keys to the season um obviously I think that uh you know Bree Hall's going to have to have a big season number one and I think look I mean you think about what he did last year with a banged up offensive line I mean how many different offensive lineman did they play last year you know 13 combos in 17 games crazy yeah I I mean you you lost counter ready by like week five or week six it was you couldn't make that stuff up Bree Hall had a huge season last year with revolving D offensive line revolving D quarterback you know outside of Garrett Wilson no legitimate weapons on the outside at wide receiver so if if he does his thing I think it's really going to take the pressure off of the quarterback those wide receivers and just keeps the defense even a little bit more honest I think even a guy like Mike Williams think about what Mike Williams being out there and he'll probably be on a pitch count to start the season you know you're not going to see the full Reps for him because he's just getting back into team drills and coming back off that ACL but think about what Mike Williams presence is going to do for Garrett Wilson he's another guy you know Garrett Wilson a thousand yards receiving in each of the first two years with how many different quarterbacks right and now to have somebody that takes the attention of the defense away from you just a little bit more on game days it could open up so many opportunities for him those are my keys on offense and I'll tell you on the defensive side of the ball somebody asked me the other day you know what what do you think over there as far as an exactor and I'll tell you the guy who I think is is primed for a big season this year is Javon kinlaw I really truly do you know he had a real good camp he's put on some muscle mass he's gonna be playing alongside Quinn and Williams and some of those other guys on that defensive line which we're going to are going to command the attention of opposing offensive lines which is going to give him one-on-one pass rushing opportunities Jake to go get the quarterback and that's what his skill set is probably best tailored for you know Robert Salah hadam when he was a rookie with the San Francisco 49ers and then he kind of you know lost his way a little bit but you think about you know Solomon Thomas he was a high draft pick that maybe didn't really hit the Way San Francisco thought but now over the last couple of years he's found himself again in this system and really has perfected his role you see what ATT tack McKinley a guy who was a former first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons now getting back to some familiarity with the relationship with Jeff Alber the defensive coordinator the great camp that he had in making this football team I think that that's also going to serve a guy like kinlaw well and especially having those guys around him he could be in for a real real big season which I mean the Jets already have a lot of real good players on defense and why not add another one right today's Jake asmin show is Dan when it comes to this team so much has been made about Robert Salah and my big thing has been I don't think we know what he is yet as a coach I can't sit here and say he's a great coach I can't say he's a bad coach I think he has a lot of qualities I like I think he's shown signs of growth this summer even how do you feel about Robert Salah entering what is basically a pivotal season where they don't win he's probably not here next year I agree with you I mean I I just don't think it's it's hard to say that a coach you know gets a fourth year doesn't happen that often right I mean a coach with a losing record you know I don't know how many games under 500 it is for the first three years but most coaches don't get a fourth year if that's your wins and losses record in the first three but in a weird way it's almost like he has an incomplete because he really has not had a legitimate starting quarterback yet in the first three years and look at the NFL nowadays right I mean you need one to have any sort of chance to even be above average you need to have a guy who truly knows what the hell he's doing under Center and they haven't you know the first year you give them a pass because they were starting from scratch rookie quarterback rookie play caller rookie head coach they kind of stripped the roster bear but you know the last two years it's just been injury after injury after injury after injury and the guys really had no luck and you know if the quarterback stays upright this year this team will win double digit games they'll probably make the playoffs and then we could probably have at least a little bit better evaluation on what Robert Sol is as a head coach because I do agree with you that you know if for whatever reason you know whatever the circumstances whatever the excuse if they don't win this year there's going to be changes let's face it right I mean at the end of the year this team is going to look a lot different in terms of who's calling the shots who's on the sidelines and that's what happens because it's a results oriented business in the NFL now Dan as we sit here and talk it's 10:50 a Eastern on Friday Hassan reic to our knowledge is still not with the Jets what's your take on that whole situation do you see a sound reic reporting between now and Monday I mean s basically said hey if he shows up and is in good shape we're not ruling it out yesterday so what's your take on where things are with reic honestly honestly I mean being in the building and not just like this week I'm talking even the last couple of weeks even of training camps this is going back ways it's almost like he's not on the team like I'm being serious about that like it's not talked about you would know no different if reck was in Brazil tonight with the Eagles getting ready to play the Packers you know it's almost you know the trade happened in March he showed up for one day to take his physical to do a a zoom press conference or whatever it was and then that was it nobody's seen him again you know obvously it's kind of hovering over things but it really you just don't even feel like he's a part of things yet you know wasn't even that big of a talk at the locker room yesterday amongst the guys I mean I never heard his name mentioned to be quite honest with you so if he gets here great you know gonna Echo what the coach is saying if he gets here great if not I mean let's face it this team has enough to win on the defensive side of the ball I know they have to say goodbye to some guys and some of it was salary induced because they hoped to work re in but you know as far as that whole situation goes and you know we've talked about it a lot I I just I don't know what the endgame is from Assan reck's standpoint you know with all the money that he's cost himself already um it's not like there's some robust market for his Services I mean there wasn't any market for him back in March for crying out loud when Philadelphia was trying to dump him off so this is a little bit of a different scenario than let's say what the 49ers were going through with a Brandon iuk you know like they had trades potentially lined up for him you know who who's who's calling Joe Douglas and having his phone ring off the hook to get a son Rd it's not happening you know 30-year-old pass rushers who want to get you know Blockbuster contracts coming off of a season in which they don't play or they hold out I I don't see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for a guy like that you know what I mean 100% And to me his agent or Hanan himself who's ever you know ultimately in charge of the decision to not be there he he's completely I think miscalculating the situation because if he had been there every day and did a hold in and he gets to know his teammates and the coaches I mean we saw with Rex on Hard Knocks in 2010 he was visibly upset at Tannon bomb and Woody wanting to get the revas deal done and like maybe that would be the the driving force with Salo and the coaching staff to get something here but since he's kind of been away it's out of sight out of mind he doesn't have any built up Equity with his teammates the coaches so you know to your point it's it's a very unique hold out because it's like he's never been a jet because he really hasn't been a jet that's true and look let me let me stress it's not a distraction in any way shape or form it's not and I'll tell you if he does show up and this whole thing gets worked out it's not like any guy in that locker room is going to look at him you know crosseyed or evil eyed or anything like that you know they the guys in that room this is their livelihood they understand this is a business so even if they don't necessarily have a deep relationship with reic because he hasn't been around they're going to understand the business side of it and why he did what he did for all these months and when he's in that locker room and has the helmet on he's ready to play football they're going to welcome him with open arms because he's going to give them a better chance to win football gam so if he shows up great if not you know what this team has enough to go out there and still win games your thoughts on this defense without him right I mean you think they have enough I still think they could be one of the better defenses in the league without Ric but are you banking on a a big year two leap from a guy like Will McDonald who are some of the guys you're looking at that you say hey with no Huff no jfm now obviously no reic for now who are the guys you're turning to that are going to step up on that defensive line I mentioned you know uh kinlaw I think he's going to have a big year McDonald you know McDonald is a guy who's still going to be a situational rusher you know even in year number two I could see probably somebody like Michael Clemens starting in the base defense you know as somebody who's certainly a little bit more Stout in terms of setting the edge in the Run game so he could be your first second G down guy and then you have Will McDonald come in in obvious passing situations um you know it's funny I don't know how much run they're going to get and obviously you can't keep everybody active on game day but a lot of you know these undrafted defensive lines who made the team you know the McGregors of the world like I really like what they did during camp and in the preseason and these are you know developmental players that maybe not necessarily this year next year for example like they their game could really grow and they could factor into this defense but you know I want to see what a jam and Sherwood is going to be able to do this year you know I had a long talk with him during training camp this is a pivotal year for him you know coming back off of injuries year number four the transition from college safety to linebacker I think is finally complete and it's one thing to contribute on special teams he wants to make a difference in this defense and this might be an opportunity for him to do that so um I I I think that's another guy and then in that back end of the secondary I mean look you know what you're getting from all the corners right that's obvious let's see what Chuck Clark could do this year right I let's not forget you know they missed him all of last year he was going to step in and be a starter and he got hurt on like the last play of OTAs or mini camp or whatever it was and you didn't see him all season so this is a guy who comes from winning program in Baltimore has a lot to prove in his own right I think he could also be a thumper in the back end of that defense when you look at like the like bold prediction angle for this Jets team Dan I mean how bold are we talking this year you could you could take this question any way you want it could be a player you're highlighting could be a prediction for the outcome of the record or how far they go give us a bold prediction about the 2024 New York Jets well I don't know if it's bold necessarily look I'll tell you what I think they're going to do I I you know I I went through it I did the picks the other on my show I think the Jets win 11 games I think they win the AFC East I think they're the two seed in the AFC and I think they win a wild card playoff game at home I think they win a round two playoff game at home and I think they make it to Kansas City for the AFC Championship game and I think that's where the journey ends but if it plays out that way which let's face it the chances of it playing out exactly like that are probably I I would say slim but you know um if it does play out anywhere close to that I think every Jet fan on the planet would probably be ecstatic as to how this season went no doubt I I think you know given the the history we've gone through during this drought I mean come on now and like that to me is the biggest thing right if they can only do one thing in the regular season win the division you've not given this fan base a home playoff game first off ever in the history of metti and second off it's been since 2002 I mean every time I have Herms on either this show or on ESPN New York and I say the last time the Jets won the division this guy was the like I love you Herm I'm tired of saying that like it's time for this team to win the division I don't look at the Bills and Dolphins as a team that has necessarily gotten better this off season whereas if the Jets just brought Aaron Rogers back and did nothing else they are an improved team and they obviously made a lot of smart moves around just that so like I'm with you win the AFC East that's got to be like the number one priority for the regular season I mean think about it this way too I grew up we had season tickets my family right we we got them in 1988 okay so I was going to games as a season ticket holder from from 88 up until I I think we gave him up maybe in 2010 or 2011 or something like that so go back to 1988 to 2024 now there's been two home playoff games for the Jets two you know the Jaguar game in 98 and the game in 2002 against Indianapolis and they won both of those games so that's the secret Jake you just have to get a home playoff game because the Jets are unbeatable at home in the playoffs the last 35 years or so that is correct now as far as this game on Monday uh your thoughts on what to watch I mean it's a tough challenge for the the Jets but I will give you this set Dan since 2021 the San Francisco 49ers are just 12 and 12 through the first eight games of the season and they're only five and six at home so if you are going to play the ners you want to you want to play them early jets are fully healthy in this one and you know Christ McCaffrey uh didn't have a full trainy Camp he's still playing through an injury right now Trent Williams what type of shape is he in auk didn't practice much this summer so uh if the Jets are going to win you feel like this is probably their best shot at going in the San FR and winning playing them this early I'll give you another stat that I saw too I think since 2000 the team that lost the Super Bowl uh in week one the following year is something like four and 19 against the spread or something like that so that's another thing that plays into the Jets SS no you're absolutely right I mean the ners are a little bit of slow starters I think that's fair and and you also referenced the fact you know I know the Jets have the reic situation and it seems like it's a bigger story outside of New York than it is here but the Niners have had way more a turbulent let's say summer than the Jets have you know with Trent Williams only showing up a few days ago we don't know what kind of condition he's going to be in Brandon iuk was a pain in the you know what you know holding in holding out traded not traded and then I I mean that that tragedy with with piol over the weekend and and by the grace of God he's going to be okay thank goodness they're even talking about him maybe even suiting up on Monday which would just be like unbelievable uh for something like that to happen but I do think this is a good time as any to catch the 49ers even though it's week one and you don't know how any team is coming into the season because you know these guys aren't playing preseason games it's a little bit of a coin flip but if there was a time to play the 49ers in their building this would be it right out at the gates and I think the Jets are going to give you a good showing on Monday night I really do all right Dan hardest question I'm gonna ask you what is the toughest part about working with Greg butle oh toughest part of working with Greg Buttle obviously uh I'll tell you the toughest part for me is to keep a straight face to be quite honest with you because we you know we we have our laughs you know we try to keep it together on the air but as soon as the mic is off I mean we're just either you know ripping one another to shreds over what one of us said or somebody else it's just you know we have a good time and that's what makes it enjoyable because look I mean since he and I have been doing it this is going to be our seventh year together let's face it there haven't been a lot of wins from the football team so we've had to manufacture other ways to kind of keep us going and to entertain the audience so you know I really love working with him and I think he would say the same as tough as it is uh you know to say something nice about me but we enjoy each other's company and hopefully that translate through the broadcast all right final question Dan who scores the first touchdown of the jet season wow who scores the first touchdown of the Jets season you know what I'm gonna say because he didn't have one all of last year Tyler Concklin breaks the rut right out of the gates how about that I like it I like that I think Concklin you brought it up earlier I I think he is so underrated and and you know the the stats bear it out he's top 10 last two years combined in receptions and yards he doesn't score any touchdowns because the Jets never score any touchdowns it's not his fault well the problem is too I mean let let's face it you know he he has a skill set that I don't even think has been totally taken advantage of by the Jets because they haven't had quarterback play consistent enough to be able to utilize his strengths you know by the time you get through your progressions and whatnot and see a guy wide open beating his man one-on-one in the middle of the field you know you're not looking that way but maybe a more experienced quarterback will start to do those things this of it guaranteed I think that's a fair guesstimate on where it's headed with sauce it's a way easier contract to do than Garrett right because where do you slot Garrett SAU is the unquestioned best corner in the league in my opinion and even if he's not if there's a debate he's close enough to the top where the next guy Up's going to reset the market remember when Trevor Lawrence became the now with the Jets as we know and Simpson and Morgan Moses but I I look at this Ravens team last night and you know Lamar as great as he is when he needed to make a play from the pocket he missed a guy open in the end zone that would have been a touchdown and I know he threw the touchdown the next play to likely and you know maybe if he was wearing white cleats it would have been a touchdown there would have been would not have been conclusive evidence to overturn it whatever you want to say say it was that close I get it but the previous play really the previous two plays You could argue he missed receivers open certainly the Z flowers one was the guy was open likely that was a tough play in the corner where we thought he got hurt and then he came back in and made the catch on fourth down that didn't count but I just I don't trust Lamar in big spots for moments like what we saw last night you could say that's not fair but it's just like when you need the win from the pocket that's sports leagues NBA MLB NHL obviously football so between fines and forur right Hassan reik has actually cost himself 5.07 million so far he he didn't show up to mini camp that was $ 101.7 th000 fine all the training camp fines have added up to over 2 million missing the preseason games is 2.375 million he didn't get his 250k workout bonus and the Jets gave him that discretionary fine of 300K and now that the regular season is starting according to this he'll forfeit an additional $791,000 weak missed so this guy is costing himself so much money if you're the Jets you don't cave now you see you got her number she eventually hit you up when she's back in New York where was the first date we went to this Mexican restaurant in Q Gardens I was living in a story at the time and she was staying in Q Gardens because that's what like they have these theia and JFK yeah yeah it's right in the middle so that's why like a lot of the crew they they have crash pads they call them and they just lived there in between flights and like so it was right near her place and you she didn't know me that well so it's like in case I was a weirdo creeper like she wasn't far from cuz she met me there I didn't have to pick up or anything so she's just could go back to her place and it was um game two of the 200 I guess it was the Celtics Lakers NBA Finals one the one the Lakers won where artez hit the three in in game seven okay so whatever year that was 2010 I guess it was 2011 yeah yeah and it was game two and we're on our first date and I keep looking at the screen and she gets a call at like 10 o'clock and she's like I got to go to Vegas and I'm like oh I I guess I screw this dat up by not paying her any attention and watching the game but no she actually had a flight like she actually had a flight in the morning to Vegas like a 500 am flight to Vegas so I thought she was getting out of the date I was like oh well I screwed that up but actually she had to go to Vegas and and she called me and she apologized and said we'll do this again some other time and she came back like a week later and we went on another date and the rest the rest is history Jake that was so were you long distance at first how did you eventually get to Texas with her kind of yeah yeah because like she was she'd be in New York you know three four five days six days a month and we would hang out when she was on you know when she wasn't working but in New York and then like you know 10 days she's traveling and the other day she was home in in Texas so whenever she was in New York was basically when we hung out and it'd be like every weekend every other weekend something like that and then gradually she just would work more trips and take more a days which is days like you're sitting at the airp port or at home until they call you and then we'd hang out until she got a call and that's what we did for like the year and a half that we were dating and then we got engaged and we moved to Texas and then just like things were normal at that point but when we were dating she only she said you know she was your age I guess 27 I guess we were I'm not 27 would continue you're in that ballpark of of of age yeah okay um and she said you have one year to propose to me if you don't propose to me in one year then I'm going to go see other people and I I never knew if if if that was legitimate but I didn't want to call her Bluff and get called out on it so about 10 months into dating I just proposed to her and wow yeah I I don't do you think you think that the bluff like I like to hear what the 4 perent says like she said you have one year to propose to me I would love to get the 4centers take on that is that a bluff you know what that reminds me of that story pretty good like negotiation tactic by her right yeah it's it's kind of like it's kind of like Joe dougo signing Tyron Smith for just 6.5 million guaranteed it's is that all he got guarantee with 6.5 million where it says 23 touchdowns three interceptions and3 passer rating on Monday Night Football he's 10 and0 since 2014 so can you believe that Jake like he's a big time player in Big Time moments and it's just to see that out there as a Jet fan I mean I'm sure you haven't you haven't seen it either Jake like that kind of quarterback play no of course not no I mean to me uh this is the most talented roster the Jets will put on a field in at least 15 years you could argue it's better than 2010 though because of the quarterback so like this to me is as talented of a team as they've had since 98 if you think about it or 99 after we knew what 98 was right well I you know I'll give you a funny little uh talent look is that I'm I'm a big Madden guy and I play Madden and we've never been this good in Madden like in Madden we're we're we've been to 83 84 tops we're in 86 this year in Madden now I don't know how much that that shows but it should be more because think about it Rogers is good he was like an 82 in Madden ratings like exactly yo that's crazy exactly so I'm just uh I'm so excited for the game this year uh the games it's the first time I got the NFL ticket I got my Aaron going to be uh handling success and and as the years went on I realized how important those wordss are um you know we were uh 8 and8 te his first year then the second year went to the NFC Championship um I think what he meant was you just can't ride the highs too high and and then uh The Whole World's crashing down after a tough game um regardless of what happens uh on Monday uh we win the headlines is going to be you know we're going to Super Bowl uh we lose same old Jets so I think we need to get away from some of those outside themes and and Trust uh that the program if it's good enough uh week one it's good enough the rest of the season so we got to trust the process be great competitors show up uh be you know be professionals and show out on the field and let the chips fall where they may how do you know you I mean I've always kind of played with something on my shoulder you got to you know manufacture things from time to time but uh yeah I mean it kind of goes back to the prove it uh who would I need to prove to just myself at this point so but I have a lot of pride in my performance so when I take the field I expect greatness and because I've done it before and so that's kind of a standard I hold myself to um I've said it before Bree the best compliment I can give him besides saying his name the right way is uh he's a three down back you know he can do it all in first second down he's a great in pass protection he's a great route Runner and Garrett's just taking a step with another year of experience obviously what he does in the field is dynamic um you know and he has the ability to do stuff inside the offense and outside the offense um so he's a guy you got you got to find in the progressions Aron how right now yeah really encouraged you know I think the whole feel is different that happens when you bring in a couple older guys like we have uh there's a stability mentally I think that comes with that that those guys have played and played a lot of football and bring kind of an attitude to the room um the o line needs to be the policeman of the football team but also needs to be the jokesters and keep things light and I think they do a good job at that I mean we have uh the ultimate troll at Center which has always worked well over the years for us in in uh in Green Bay but uh Joe has uh matched his personality with his play style now he's uh he's a really good player and he's a great person you know in that uh in that core for us and then obviously I think we've talked about a lot but one of the biggest surprises with zero disrespect has been John Simpson I think John has had a fantastic camp you guys have watched him every day I mean the way he's handled not just r d line which is uh you know Premier D line but the other uh teams we went against in some of these joint practices who all have big time you know three techniques or or Shades who are you know the tops of their positions I thought he he handled all those guys really well you look at s Fran obviously they got an incredible interior uh interior guy that we're going to have to have to block up after what happened last imagine hating that guy great answers there from Rogers love the I expect greatness quote love what he said about John Simpson and Joe titman John Simpson's underrated man he's had a really good camp lake and Tomlinson remember there was a narrative that was put out there by people who cover the team well you can't cut lak and Tomlinson because at least he plays right lak and Tomlinson he's super durable and my argument was but he stinks he's not good he's a really nice guy I know that people on the beat really like lak maybe he was their Source I don't know I'm just saying the idea that you couldn't cut lak in because well he plays and you don't want to create another hole you have to fill is nonsense and think about what Joe Douglas did he replaced Laken with someone who's better and he got Morgan Moses for a sixth round pick the combined cap hits for those two guys is like 6.7 million I believe this year pretty silly for the Ravens to pennies in that spot if you think about it when Lamar's your quarterback and you need a good o line I mean how the o line look last night Lamar runs around like that every game he's not making it through the season you get hurt he could do it at times like he more important it's a conference game there's no shame in losing to the Niners in the road now do I want the Jets to be competitive if they're going to lose obviously do I want Aaron Rogers to make it obviously think it's going to be a close game we have Aaron Rodgers and I trust Aaron roggers over Brock pie to make a play like you you talk about it earlier when you opened the show about the Chiefs and the uh and and the game last night against against Lamar Jackson and like you still don't trust Lamar Jackson to make that play um in the pocket and as a thrower and I guess I trust Aaron Rogers more to like make the winning plays in the fourth quarter than I do Brock cie so I think it's going to be a close game both teams are really good um but but yeah I think it's going to be a uh a fourth quarter Aaron Rogers type of moment that that we're gonna see if we get that then like like I I I could see it it's just I think Brock p is a little underrated how we talk about him like I'm not saying he's a top five quarterback but I think it's like it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if he plays just as well as Rogers on Monday like it's Rogers first game back and a hostile environment with brand new team like I I don't know if we're get like you know you had one of our callers predict 390 yards in four or five tuck like I don't see that but yeah I think Aaron will make plays in this game I do I think that's same caller predicted 150 yards on the ground for Bree too so that would be almost 600 yards of offense against the Niners that would be that would be a hell of a day and and fandel would lose a lot of money on some parlays but um I guess yeah on that note speaking of bets like get your bets in now because if the Jets beat the ners you know Jake like we have a schedule
