Intro StadiumDB.com presents
UEFA Champions League Stadiums Season 2024/2025
We will be learning new rules in this year's
Champions League. One thing remains the same and that is, of course, the stadiums. There
will be more than 30 of them in the competition, and in this video we will show them all,
including the final stadium in Bavaria.
We will present the venues of the world's
most prestigious club football competition from smallest to largest. As it
turns out, not everyone will play in the stadiums where they play every day.
A year ago, it was unlikely anyone would have Estadi Montilivi, Girona FC expected Girona in the Champions League.
Although bigger stadiums than the one in Catalonia were not allowed, Girona
will play the competition at home.
There was no stadium confusion for Sparta Prague,
who will play in the Champions League at their Stadion Letná, AC Sprarta Praha 18,000 capacity venue. A stadium on this site
already existed in 1917. Today, Epet Arena is one of the main sports venues in the country.
One of the clubs that will not play in its own Stade du Roudourou, Stade Brestois stadium is Stade Brestois 29. The replacement
stadium is located in one of the smallest cities in this year's Champions League. Capacity
is 18,000 - impressive for a city with a population of less than 8,000!
AS Monaco, or Adolf Hutter's wards, Stade Louis II, AS Monaco are playing in a slightly larger but
unexceptional stadium. Stade Louis II is the only venue in the world that can accommodate
two-thirds of its country's population. It hosted many European Super Cup matches.
Nor can Slovan Bratislava boast a large stadium. Národný futbalový štadión, Slovan Bratislava The Slovaks, however, have been attached to this
venue since 1939, when the first Tehelne Pole, or simply ‘Tehelko’, was built, where the
Czechoslovak national team played its matches.
One of the stadiums where work has been carried
out recently is Gewiss Stadium. In 2019, Stadio di Bergamo, Atalanta Bergamo the redevelopment of the stadium began, with the
main aim of removing the arches behind the goals and replacing them with new stands.
Italy has something in common with Stadion Maksimir, Dinamo Zagreb Croatia - old stadiums. Maksimir
Stadium, where Dinamo Zagreb plays, was inaugurated more than 100 years ago. Maybe
it's time for a stadium revolution in Croatia?
Jan Breydelstadion, Club Brugge For a moment, we move to Belgium. Jan
Breydel Stadion is home to Club Brugge and Cercle Brugge, but it is the former club that is
able to fill the stands. In the Champions League, this feat is also likely to succeed.
Another club that will not hear The Champions Wörthersee Stadion, Sturm Graz in their own stadium is Sturm Graz. The
Austrian team will be performing at a venue almost twice the size of their own in
Klagenfurt. The city will benefit from this, with each match generating around €2 million.
We are not saying goodbye to Austria yet, Stadion Salzburg, FC Salzburg as Red Bull Salzburg have also been
promoted to the Champions League. The stadium of this team is more capacious than the
Klagenfurt venue by less than 200 seats.
BayArena, Bayer 04 Leverkusen You might not have expected Bayer Leverkusen at
this point, but it is true that the team does not play at a huge stadium. Nor is it particularly
hospitable to the visitors, as they do not usually return with their heads held high. But
for their own fans, in addition to tickets, the sponsor Bayer could hand out chill pills,
considering the goals in the last minutes...
Stadion Wankdorf, Young Boys A bigger stadium than Bayer's has, for
example, a team called Young Boys Bern, who advanced to the Champions League after
the play-offs. The current venue was built on the site of the former Stadion Wankdorf,
which hosted the 1954 World Cup final.
PSV Stadion, PSV Eindhoven The Champions League will also feature one
of the largest stadiums in the Netherlands. At the end of the 20th century it hosted
the Euros. The attendance record was set on the occasion of Manchester United's
arrival. This time the Red Devils in Eindhoven will definitely not be there.
Our next stop is a special one. Bologna last Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, Bologna FC played in the Champions League, or rather
its equivalent, in the 1964/65 season. The distinctive red brick tower, which has been
the stadium's trademark for 97 years, will therefore see the biggest football stars back.
Undoubtedly the newer and more modern stadium, Juventus Stadium, Juventus FC is Allianz Stadium, where Juventus play. The venue
is an example of a rare scenario in which a larger stadium is demolished and a smaller one is built
instead. For its inauguration Juve played... you wouldn't have guessed it: against Notts County.
Now that we've mentioned England, Villa Park, Aston Villa let's stay there. One of the most surprising
teams is Aston Villa, led by Unai Emery, who will be able to say ‘Gut Ibinin’ on Tuesday
and Wednesday nights. The club last featured in the equivalent of the Champions League in the
1982/83 season, while Villa Park was instead established back in the 19th century.
RB Leipzig certainly does not have such RB Arena, RB Leipzig a rich history, although their stadium does.
Zentralstadion used to hold 100 thousand people, and after it was rebuilt for the 2006 World
Cup, it became apparent that there was nothing to do with the facility. Fortunately, a club RB
Leipzig was formed and has been using the arena, which undoubtedly gives the team wings.
From Germany, we are not far from Benelux, Stadion Feijenoord 'De Kuip', Feyenoord Rotterdam where there is a landmark stadium. The
structure of De Kuip, where Feyenoord plays, was the model for Camp Nou. Despite modernisation,
the facility has retained its shape. De Kuip has hosted as many as 10 European cup finals.
We are halfway through all the stadiums we will see in this year's Champions League - so the
biggest venues are ahead of us. Before we go any further, you can like the content and subscribe
to our channel if you haven't already done so.
Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain A slightly bigger venue is Parc des Princes.
The stadium situation of the French league hegemon is unclear, but there will be no
revolution yet this season. Nor will there be an attendance record, as this one exceeds
the current capacity by several thousand.
Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, FC Barcelona The last stadium on the list with less than 50,000
capacity is the Montjuic venue in Barcelona. The Blaugrana have announced that they will return to
Camp Nou during this season, but we will not see the legendary arena in the Champions League.
If we were to judge stadiums not by capacity, Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille OSC this venue in Lille would also rank high.
The arena was used during the Olympics as well as for Euro 2016. It is a relatively
new stadium - it was inaugurated in 2012.
Estádio Jose Alvalade, Sporting CP A city with more than one great stadium is
also Lisbon. The local Sporting will play in the Champions League at Estádio José Alvalade.
It hosted five Euro matches in 2004 and less than a year later, local arena-owner Sporting
faced CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Cup final.
We move to the historic stadium of Crvena zvezda.
Even before it was completed, crowds used to come Stadion Rajko Mitić, Crvena Zvezda here. Thanks to its huge audiences, the facility
was nicknamed Marakana in its early years.
A slightly larger venue is Etihad, where
Manchester City play. The stadium is City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester City currently undergoing an extension. This
will make the Etihad stand out even more from Britain's run-down stadiums.
One such is undoubtedly Celtic Park. Celtic Park, Celtic FC The stadium is considered one of Leo Messi's
favourites. ‘I've been lucky enough to play in some great stadiums in Europe with Barcelona,
but none can compare to Celtic,’ - he said. The Argentine also has a Celtic shirt.
We have already discussed some unexpected clubs, Arena Stuttgart, VfB Stuttgart and to these we can add Stuttgart. The club
last played in the Champions League in the 2009/2010 season, with the team then reaching the
round of 16, where they faced FC Barcelona.
Arsenal Stadium, Arsenal FC Arsenal are back in the Champions League for
good. The next season in the competition will, of course, be hosted at Emirates. Josh
Kroenke, a member of Arsenal's board of directors, has revealed that the
club has had ‘internal discussions’ about refurbishing Emirates Stadium.
Only a slightly larger stadium is Anfield, Anfield, Liverpool FC which has gained several thousand new seats
following its redevelopment. The work took as long as nine years, during which Liverpool played
at Anfield Road. The club's venue is the largest English stadium in these competitions.
From England, we move to a second-tier Arena AufSchalke, Shakhtar Donetsk venue in Germany. Shakhtar Donetsk will play
their home Champions League matches at the Schalke Stadium. Veltins Arena not so long
ago hosted the Champions League thanks to the form of the team from Gelsenkirchen.
The largest stadium in Portugal to hear The Estadio do SL Benfica, SL Benfica Champions is Estadio da Luz. Its colloquial name
comes from the district in which it is located. In 2007, the selection of the 7 New Wonders
of the World was announced at this venue, and the Champions League final
was scheduled for 2014 here.
Estadio Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid The Champions League at Metropolitano is
not such a phenomenon. No cigarettes will be smoked at the 2030 World Cup venue under
the new rule, and there are parcel machines for the forgetful ones so they can be sent
home quickly. The arena is distinguished by its huge roof and hot atmosphere.
It's fitting that we are around stadiums Fußball Arena München, Bayern Munich for Champions League finals, as the next venue
on the list is Allianz Arena. This is where the winner of the trophy will be determined this
season. According to many, Bayern's stadium is the best in the world. What makes it unique is
its cladding, created from 2784 rhombus-shaped airbags that form the facade and roof.
The 75,000-seat barrier is also exceeded Stadio San Siro, AC Milan and Inter Milan by San Siro, where two teams - Inter
and Milan - will play in this year's Champions League. Both clubs are preparing to
design and build their own stadiums, but the matter is complicated. So we are happy while
we can watch San Siro on the biggest stage.
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid The second biggest Champions League venue
is Santiago Bernabeu - synonymous with the Champions League. The dominator of these
competitions has also taken over the stadium market. The facility is Florentino Perez's
youngest child, which is making huge profits through several activities. Will we watch
Bernabeu all the way to the semi-finals?
The title of the biggest Champions League
stadium goes to Signal Iduna Park. The venue, BVB Stadion Dortmund, Borussia Dortmund known for its fantastic atmosphere, has
already witnessed the World Cup or the Euros, and the Champions League is associated with
Dortmund's 4:1 demolition of Real Madrid. Thanks to its compact size and excellent visibility, the
stadium is sometimes regarded as one of the best in the world for watching football matches.
We have already discussed all the Champions Outro League stadiums. Which one do you plan to
be in this season? Write in the comments, and it's time for us to go. More content will be
coming soon though, so stay tuned! See you there.
