everyone every day all summer long visit fanduel.com to get started LS we got a really fun Monday for all day ever day today we're going be getting into some updates from the L at the lake sounds like a lot of good things are happening you know we we sent a little little notice to our our lockdown Huskies insiders but some things that could be coming down the pipeline we got a whole bunch of updates because you were out in Indianapolis at Big 10 media day before we get to those we've got to talk about Will Rogers because the more we look at this this quarterback just situation in the Big 10 as a whole Will Rogers has the potential be a top three quarterback in the conference this season again the key word there is potential I don't think he enters the season you know I no there's no question he's a top five but when you look at the other thing to consider is Will Rogers is coming in heralded you know 12,000 plus yards passing in the SEC at Mississippi State all we we know who Will Rogers is the problem is we haven't ever seen Will Rogers in Jen P's offense and he's never thrown in a game setting in a true actual game setting not a spring game or a mo practice game anything you want to say and with you know with these players and so it's it it all the pieces are there to work and I think the reason why he will be a top three quarterback in this in the Big 10 conference at the end of the season is because he's the perfect fit for Jed fish's offense gets the ball out quickly even whether we can have the disc the offensive line discussion all day every day but what that with even without that question with or without that question will knows how to get the ball out fast and then you look at the skill position players that Washington has you know denzo Boston Giles Jackson that's kind of the slot guy there's so many different pieces to work with that there's no reason that Will Rogers can't be a top three quarterback just a matter of going in how quickly does he assimilate how quickly are these guys able to build that connection and relationship and then how quick and also how much ises Will Rogers veteran experience help this team overall this offense overall gel not just with the receivers but just kind of the overall cohesion get the offensive line together because it's not just playing quarterback that makes that makes Will Rogers important it's all the things that come with it setting up the offense helping the receivers know where to go with their routs and everything like that but absolutely you're right when all is said and done Will Rogers will be one of the top three quarterbacks in the Big 10 and a lot of that just comes from questions elsewhere right where we know that Dylan Gabriel and that Oregon offense that's probably gonna take one of these spots you could probably say the same thing about will Howard at uh Ohio State but then after you get into a debate and because I'm sure there are a lot of people saying oh Will Rogers like what but you look around the Big 10 and I mean I'm sure there are some names that we might not be mentioning here but the the big ones to talk about I mean Alex Orgy at Michigan say offense sure but that's not a guy who you know we've seen be a consistent passer we saw him come in and you know run some options every now and again last season but Tyler van djk is also learning a new offense that's Miller Moss down at USC yeah we saw him a little bit last year but I mean he's he's not Caleb Williams like it's not like that's GNA be a sure thing either yeah Lincoln Riley is a quarterback whiz we know he's done some awesome things with quarterbacks throughout his career but it's still a question we still haven't seen it and I I want to give the edge to Will Rogers here because you talked about the records that he said 12,000 plus passing yards number two in SEC history in passing yards number four in touchdowns and yeah a lot of that came him a really pass heavy offense at Mississippi State where you know he's asked thr the ball 55 60 times a game which certainly isn't going to be the case at Washington but you look at the receivers one guy you mentioned I know you didn't do it on purpose you didn't mention was was Jeremiah Hunter where that's a guy who can come in and certainly have a thousand yard season in this final year of Eligibility and just from the way you and I have watched Denzel Boston play Hey That's certainly a guy who can do that as well and I know it's not a likeforlike comparison but I I wanted to go out and look up some stats for Jaden Dora from her his first year in Jed fish's offense in 2022 and 62 and a half perc completion percentage 3,685 passing yards with 25 touchdowns and 13 interceptions the first thing that stands out to me there is that's a really nice completion percentage where Delora certainly a very different style of quarterback and you know we're not going to get any other things about about him but when I look at that I see you know Dorian singer was a really nice piece in that offense obviously T Tyro McMillan was just a stud as a true freshman and I feel like as as much as I like to Tyro McMillan there's nobody on this team with I think as much upside as him where Denzel could certainly be a high NFL draft pick Tarro McMillan should be the first receiv receiver off the board next April like I I I love Denzel but he's not there just yet but you look at all this potential and you see what kind of production Jade Delora had where now you look at a guy like Will Rogers who's gonna protect ball a little bit better than he did I all of a sudden we're looking at a guy who I think can have 30 touchdowns 3500 4,000 passing yards his offense and hey that that certainly works for me in a a conference that prid Prides itself on running the football exact well but that's the other thing to consider too is you know Washington with Jonah Coleman they're gonna run the ball a bit but also it plays into the fact that you can we saw it during the Spring where you've got plenty of wheel Rod options with Daniel Jonah Coleman potentially Jordan Washington as a freshman Adam there's so many options and I think that even more speaks to why Will Rogers will have because he's not just a downfield passer where we know as much as we love Mike there was about five dozen checkdowns last season that he missed wide open where again you can never fault Mike for trying to thread the needle because he's so good at it but I think will is that type of quarterback where he's not afraid that might even be his first read just get the ball with your get the ball in your skope position players hands and don't worry about taking a sack that's that's the whole point of Jed's offense yeah sorry I just I wanted to to cut in real fast and just say that's a wonderful point because of what you said about the offensive line where as long as there are questions there if this offensive line is good awesome great that makes us even better that you know it opens up way more stuff in the intermediate in the downfield game but if he wants to get the ball out quick Jonah Coleman and Cameron Davis you as you said are two awesome options underneath as well exactly and the other thing to consider is will I can't I don't think you know there's never really been he's had some up and down Seasons but he's never had a bad season and I think you you made the comparison to Jane delore just based on you're talking about we're talking about first year right that that's that's what we're looking at with this yes when you think about when you think about will yeah it's his first year but it's not his first year in college sport I'm not saying that was J Del first year either but the point of what I'm getting at is you're getting one of the season passers and I mean in 22 Will Rogers led the SEC in passing so it's not out of the real you're not talking about If This Were about um demon Williams it's a little bit different discussion because again as much as we like the upside of will of Deon playing a true freshman looks a lot different than playing a fifth six year senior who already has a ton of experience maybe not exactly in this specific scheme but will be easier to adapt to knowing how much verbiage he already understands knowing he's got what over 40 plus games starting in his career so it's not like you're trying to break in a new guy with Jane delore it's okay you're trying to break in a new guy in a new system and he's a running quarterback who can throw so it's it's like Square Peg and a round hole where Will Rogers is a square peg and a square peg and a square hole that that it's a perfect fit and that's why he sucked I remember which will lead into our next segment here I remember Jed was asked about the media day where somebody you know one of the national reporters would come up and you know asked about Will Rogers and basic Jed was basically like well you know if you want to play in the NFL and you want to play and learn how to play in NFL system here's what we have to offer now if you want to go be a draft pick go talk to your parents sort through it at home and then let us know if you don't want to be a draft pick then you can go somewhere else Will Rogers ended up in Washington I think the rest is history and I think it speaks to Jed but it speaks to Jed's confidence with his system it's not just hey I I can make any quarterback happen if you think about it Noah faf and Will Rogers are two vastly different quarterbacks and he had success with no F who say no offense again no great quarterback but he was a three star for all that we want to talk about star ratings and everything like that you know Drew Aller was a four star Dylan Gabriel was a you know all these top 10 you know top heralded quarterbacks and then you have Jed who just yeah give me any quarterback and as long as I have a semi- decent offensive line and skill tal we're cooking now I think Arizona was a little bit different when you look at will plumber and all that but that's why it's even more important to have such an experienced guy under Center year one yeah no I I really like where you're going with that and as you said there there are so many things that we need to get to from Big 10 media day and we'll get there right after message from our stuff to get to from Big 10 media day before we move on one thing though that I wanted to say is I wanted to spend 30 seconds on on Drew Aller and his potential because I I personally feel that Drew Aller in this really odd 2025 quarterback class is somebody that has potential to be a first round pick where people are gonna look at his upside and they're gonna see Josh Allen but I don't know how much he's gonna tap into that this season which is something I'm really curious about I just want to make sure we got that in there because he's a really talented guy who I'm a huge fan of and I'm really high on him but I want to see him reach his ceiling before I can put him in that that top three conversation and with Will you know career accolades at this point he deserves to be in there but we got to keep going here and you have so many other updates from Big 10 media day what are what are some of the things that you were hearing out there well let's just start right there we're gonna have that answer on November 9th when Washington goes to Penn State and guess what the one thing that was revealed by uh Jonah Coleman and Campa Vicky Alan Washington asked for the white out game whoa they wanted that game apparently so kind of awesome so apparently it was originally again take it for what it's worth this was coming out of players mouth I'm not saying players were lying but just you know it's this is what was said that it was originally gonna be a big noon kickoff game and Washington wanted the white out so if that gives you any indication of what that game is going to mean and honestly what it says about Washington going into the Big 10 not being afraid to have the biggest arguable game in the Big 10 schedule in the regular season in terms of what that game usually means in the season when you're talking about you know the white out game and what it represents yeah the Mamba all of that and and going into experience that year one it's and if you think about whether or not Jonah Coleman and then some of these guys end up leaving after the season if Washington goes eight and4 9 and3 a really good season they go off to the NFL those guys also want to have that L that Foundation lat to say hey you know what we were the first group that came in and we won in the big in the white out game the year one so now you guys got to uphold that Legacy where you're talking about this offense and team the legacy is now going to a national championship game now we all don't expect them to go to a national championship this season it's well documented all that but it's proven in this era of college football Washington can make a big a national championship and a new year six bowl game and win a New Year's six bowl game so now you have these lofty expectations to uphold why not go and Chase the biggest fish in the world and to your point is Penn State a getable team absolutely is it a guaranteed win maybe probably not not no by no by no means especially going all the way to the east coast and playing that game at night but that if that gives you any indication of the mentality that Washington is going into the season with that to me is a very very telling sign oh I could agree with you more I just I love that attitude I love that mindset of we want all the smoke that's awesome I I I just I think that's so much fun so LS one thing you mentioned to me before we we hit record here that certainly needs to be mentioned is you talked about a a potential two-man battle at left tackle between Maximus McCree and soan F solo where I'm really intrigued by that the one thing that I I really want to see from this is I got one thing for each guy with McCree it's okay what do you look like after a year off I feel like that's obvious and you know he's listed a little lighter He's listed I believe 272 last I checked and I'm sure he's gonna be a little bit heavier than that by the time you know we we get out there for practices and in the middle of the week but I I just I want to see what that looks like because he's a really good mover really like that on his film and I don't think he's going to be able to survive 275 280 so if he can get up to 290 I'd feel better about that but on on the other side of the coin I'm I'm curious to see what soan solo looks like because it felt like there was a little bit of an overwhelmed like he just was a little overwhelmed at points in the spring to no fault of his where there was so much going on and there were so few healthy linemen that he had to play a left tackle he had to play a right tackle I feel like I saw inside at times too or he had was trying to learn so many different positions at the same time that it was kind of like all right I feel like I need to just pick one spot and stick there and if he can show that he because he's up to 290 295 whatever he is now where at that weight if he can show that he's got improved hand fighting technique and that he he's just a little bit more refined on that side of his game I feel like he's got a good shot and I've been you know the number one guy pushing Justin hila into this conversation because of his Elite size and because he he really does look ahead of his time in terms of just being a true freshman and where he's at in terms of some of his technique stuff uh Ben our buddy Ben glar wrote a great piece about that over on husky wire and I think that he's somebody you can't rule out of this conversation but obviously you want to go with experience first and if a true freshman comes and wins the job awesome that's great that shows you've got depth that shows you've got talent but I I I'm just really curious how that particular situation is going to turn out yeah so I I mean you also have to think back to what Deon hiet is where he Swan V play basketball so you could imagine with that 68 frame now that he's gotten a little bit bigger than he was last year and certainly in spring camp as well he might carry the edge in that regard and but at the same point it's why you bring in somebody with veteran experience not a ton of experience most of it at the jco level but one thing I talked to Mike Loxley Mar Maryland's head coach at media Day about just was able to get him a quick little quick question in there when he was after he was off the podium and I asked him what the expectation was for Max when he came into Maryland and he's like well don't bring in jico guys just to ride the bench like you know if you're you're coming in you're coming in to start so with that in mind and you compare and you balance that out with well he hasn't played football in 18 months what to your point what is it going to look like I think it also could be you know if you think about jeds not not quick paac offense but having an athletic lineman isn't the worst thing and I'm not saying Swan is not athletic but having a guy who's maybe a little bit lighter isn't the wor if he can get up to like 285 I think that could be a good Patchwork weight catch weight it's not IDE deal you ideally want 295 300 whatever you want to call it but if he can play physical at that high of a weight that'll be good enough for me the question is will will saan and his youth end up being able to push him enough but the other thing too why I think you have the it's a two horse races it says San wins the battle you still have a veteran McCree who's right behind him with no disrespect to Justin hooka because again I I like him as well but least going into year one you look at and think okay well if San struggles week one or two boom we just put Max right in there and call it a day because we know he was almost there at the end of fall camp but we're giving the edge to toan because we're not afraid to play young players and it's also Eastern Michigan so or we I should say so I I like where you're going with that I think one thing that I'm really curious about with it is how much of a rotation are we gonna see like I I think that that's one thing that you know again once we get out there and get to practice we're going to be able to watch a little bit more of what it might look like with first team reps and second team reps and things like that but I have a feeling that it's going to be pretty split for a while I I you know when we talk about Lan and Hatchet and guard memar being in the starting lineup for the August 17th mock game I feel that at left tackle and even at Right Guard really if that's really what the center and left guard situation is going to be that we're going to see guys splitting first team reps even through the first game or two and as concerning as that might sound I don't think it's a problem and I don't think it's a problem because if you're still figuring stuff out that's fine with this group where if it's just okay yeah you know instead of like oh we don't know if we trust this guy it's let's just see who wins the job and I mean another guy that you know especially with fish's just Tendencies to play freshman I know Dave simal put it out the other day that if paky now really is 305 pounds I don't want to keep him out of any conversation where I'm I'm very firmly for the most part in the camp of don't play freshman along the offensive line just because you want to make sure they're to wait and you know just you want to make sure that they're learning all the right techniques and things like that too instead of just kind of having them learn on the fly but if he is able to retain the athleticism I fully believe that he can the athleticism that he showed on his high school film that dude's just gonna be a monster one day man don't sleep on the potential of Pocky being a starting R guard I I can't like like I think that to me I know it might sound bold to some people but especially the right guard position think about that's where Parker started out before he got K going to it's like the safest position for a true freshman or reg freshman to start out at no because it's not left tackle you're not going whoa it's it's the most important position in the offensive line and it's not Center so to me I think Pocky is a if a Nook isn't able to win the job it's easily Pocky to lose I I I I disagree with that where you know especially if we're talking about the the lane and Hatchet thing in Center d' TT Lee will certainly be in there Zack Henning will certainly be in there I I don't want to say it's his to lose because there's going to be a very stiff competition but that's my point where all of a sudden if you know if Lon does solidify himself at the starting center and guard who I I firmly believe can be one of the better uh interior guys in the league in the conference really if those two guys solidify themselves in starting spot with with starting spots and all of a sudden you have two three four guys competing for one spot great great who whoever plays well yeah you know oh let's give this guy the first quarter this guy the second quarter whatever happens happens that's fine there there are a whole lot of different ways to figure it out and Lars speaking of the offensive line there is a whole lot of positive vibes coming out of the L out at the lake and we'll get there right after a message from our good friends over at FanDuel I love sports I love him so much I never want him to stop but as the playoffs wind down we get fewer games and the sports aren't sportsing like I want them to but FanDuel lets me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets anytime I'm in the mood and the summer f hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that's right there's something for everyone every day all summer long so head over to fanduel.com and start making the most out of your summer FanDuel is an official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball and speaking of the MLB I I I I feel like it might be time to start buying the Mariners for the AL West I know they just lost a big lead but I love the pitching staff pitching staff is great and the the Randy Rose ARA trade is fun I like it I I like the odds and you know if he really does give him a Boost after you know they had a nice series they they scored a whole bunch of runs on the White Sox and I know it's the white sock but man I I I don't want to come out C him out of the division race just yet you you should go check out their odds over on FanDuel Lars The Vibes were high over the weekend during Wasington L out at the lake and the first thing that we got to get to is we you know we gave our our insiders a little bit of a tip off with it and then uh not not too long after Brandon Huff from 247 put in a crystal ball for Zack staskowski I I hope I'm saying that one right uh to flip his commitment from Minnesota to Washington which would be a really interesting addition he's a top five rated player on 247's board down in the state of Oregon where the Huskies already have two of the Top 10 Prospects and defensive tackle Dominic mcon and the number one tackle excuse me number one player in the state not tackle I got offensive line on the brain uh fourstar tight end Baron noan excuse me naon and I I like all this investment in in the state of Oregon but I like the investment into high ceiling offensive lineman even more yeah it really does kind of add an extra layer to my question to PJ Fleck IM media day about thoughts on Jed fish and you know recruiting against some of the new again handled it like a true Pro but yeah I guess it was before the visit so you know all things considered PJ maybe not unnown but it does add you know it was when you when you saw that laid offer it was like okay what's what's the point usually you make some of these late offers and it's okay you're just throwing out the offer to see what happens or is this a guy that you think you can actually close on and it really seems like under this staff they only offer those guys if they think they can close where you we talk about the Ran's Adams offer we're like why why Texas Tech commit middle of nowhere why why well a month later look what happened same thing with Zach where you look at this where they offer him last um well actually yeah about a week ago week ago week or two ago now yeah and uh and and it was a pretty I think it was one of those where you look and that immediate the size and Athletics it just really pops off the TCH and when you look at what this offensive line class needs you already got three or four guys and you're just looking to add you know some depth and and kind of future projectability and anytime you can go into state of Oregon when you already got two the two or the three guys that you already mentioned that even more just kind of drives home you know what we already got the guys we want in Washington with L and Coen Russa and obviously the defensive guys as well but just sticking with the offensive line you already got loan so now let's go out to Oregon see we can get a Minnesota flip and think about that when you're talking about Washington going into the Big 10 country flipping guys from other big 10 schools and having already beat M Minnesota for Donovan Robinson a few months ago it really does l c Jed saying Hey We're Not Afraid even if it's a three star guy that might be committed El we don't care we're gonna go get him the interesting is to be can Jed have that same energy when it comes to holding off some of these guys because you know Washington has a sucessful season some of these guys are going to be targets to get flipped elsewhere but I don't I don't think if I'm Washington I'm that concerned about that because these guys have already made it clear whenever they seem to come up to Washington rarely do they leave and not come back as a commit that that just seems to be kind of the moral of this class yeah I certainly agree with you where I mean I know the May 31st weekend might beg to differ where there that wasn't I I I I don't disagree with what you're saying though and I it's it's really curious how I think all this turns out where the Vibes are really high I like I've heard nothing but positive things they were a whole lot of big visitors on campus one that I I really like is 2026 quarterback RJ Surman from down in California that kid can play man I I absolutely love his film and I think just the more that we look at what the staff is doing in terms of its longterm plans it it almost feels like they're playing college football 25 in a way which I I mean I I know it's it sounds silly to say it that way but they don't necessarily care about positional value or what the room looks like right now it's what recruiting should be it's we're going to go out and we're going to get a whole bunch of talent and we're going to try to get as much of it as we can in the boat and then we're gonna let it play out once they get to Washington which is wonderful which is awesome which is exactly the way that it should be and I just I like the way that it worked out I love the relationships that they're building down the line I've heard so many positive things there there are some guys that it sounds like were there that might not want it out there publicly just yet but they're Mar there there were some big time visitors over the weekend speaking of Big Time visitors that also happened to be an offensive line I'm not going to attempt to pronounce the first name but mui the off the three star offensive L from Hawaii where I get you I'll leave you to pronounce the first name if you want I sorry no no so one one thing I wanted to say about him was because I we we sent out a little note to our our lock and Huskies insiders about him and I his the Curious thing about him is he's just a take no matter where you want to play him because 247 has misted as an offensive linemen and then you look at the offer list and it's on the defensive line personally I think he might offer a little bit more upside as a defensive tackle I just like his movement I I like everything that he does on on that side of the ball and would that work on the offensive line yes but like I I'm also under the impression that you know as descy does end up flipping that I would rather take him as a defensive tackle and you know he still looks like a guy you could add 10 15 20 pounds to his frame and then hey why why not have another Logan sagapolu that's just a big dude in the middle that's gonna take up space and get after the quarterback every once in a while yeah you're you're right on that but Logan 6'2 Muti 6 6 I'm not Point water but that's what I'm saying it's like when you said like defensive line okay I I can see that obviously you know UCLA AKA is obviously the one of the key recruiters there so lens greens to again probably a defensive defensive line Target but either way I if you get a six seven defensive linemen in the interior just oh my God just like I I I when was the last time there was a 6' s interior line I I it's a long time to recall that actually not not nearly I I think he was listed at 66 but MJ Al was was up there like and that's and that's something somebody that I look at kind of in that same vein where I like the the more that I've watched this film the more that that I've just started talking about this dude the more I see shad of MJ where I think MJ's a little bit of better mover but I just the more that I look at I just think of a big guy who not only can move well and you know potentially rush the passer and just be a big body that can stop the run but something that I feel we haven't seen a whole lot of in a long time is somebody who can get their hands up the line of scrimmage and bat down passes how valuable is that 67 reaching up like this it's like it's like Victor we Yama a certain point it's it's it's just hard to get over the top of him I don't even think he has to put his hands up just stand up the ball will hit his just lean one way or lean the other way but but either I think either way the other thing to consider with this is the national recruiting landscape the Jed is building in Washington where we're talking about guys in Florida we're talking about guys in Texas Tristan KY McMillan's already in Hawaii so they're already laying the groundwork in Hawaii as well they're going not even Coast to Coast they're going Coast to islands and I think if that that is any indication no it absolutely is but one thing that that I I feel that we can't understate is the importance of recruiting Hawaii where that fell off for a couple of years and it was like I before you know before this before Trustin KY McMillan I don't really remember the last player that they got out of Hawaii that wasn't Zion Tupa fatou or Fatu toell there was there was a big gap in there where you know that's that's a really talented area of the country that used to be a major pipeline for ubb and you need to keep it that way that is a really really talented place and there are so many good football players that come out of there oh absolutely but I I think if you look back at the last two coaches do you think either I guess well Jimmy had some idea of recruiting the islands obviously with Zion but I don't necessarily think kin was worried about recruiting in general let alone the islands but with that being said you know it's always important to get back to what laid the foundation with Chris Peterson when you're talking about all those guys that he was able to you know not even because there wasn't a ton per se but there was always seemingly two or three that would just come from the islands and whether they were starters or contributors it's just it's having that mentality because I think we that's one thing we've seen from the island guys is there's a different mindset when they come over and it's not just the PO mindset because that that's that's a separate mindset all of itself and you can get that from Utah Arizona California but we gotta get F on to talk more about that I was just about to say I think that's the other side of the scoring bring having Jed bring back fatui to kind of be that Island plug really cannot be undersold I think you know obviously Josh Amura without a doubt gets a lot of credit for that as well but adding foui is just another layer into saying okay yeah that we are really truly dedicated we're not just adding one or two coaches all these guys also I think about Jason KUSI plenty of these guys have connections to the islands and so I'm not worried and I think it actually just lend crens to when you look at the 26 class and the 27 class they've already started to build those inroads as well this isn't just hey we like this guy we're just going to take the one no they might only have one right now but they're looking at plenty of guys out of the state of Haw yeah absolutely you know they were pushing really heavily for Aiden manai before he goes to Cal and that that one more more seems like there wasn't a lot of room to take him where now you know you look at Ryland D and Allen and just everything else that's going on on the back end of the defense so maybe he just could end up being a take but the fact that they're pursuing them heavily is just so much more that you can say just over the last couple of Seasons which is frustrating it was it was really frustrating and getting back to that is a very important thing and I'm I'm really glad the staff is is really leading heavily into that and LS with that being said we're gonna get out of here
