there was a point a few weeks ago when the 49ers were looking to trade Brandon auk where they did call Washington because auk wanted to go there b j and Daniels and those talks didn't go anywhere simply because a they were not going to trade McLaren to San Francisco the 49ers did not want doson and then number three if there was no receivers going back the 49ers asked for a first round pick which their GM Adam Peter said is a non-starter it's not happening that's why Washington has not been involved in the iuk sweep even though he wants to go there so these next couple of days we are going to be watching to see if Washington does add another receiver whether it's on the waiver wire on the trade market because they have been fishing around there and now of dats are no longer there do they try to find somebody [Music] else Shane Amina back here with you on Sports Ander the drama rules gone in Dallas as contracts are still up in the air no new deal yet for CD lamb and other bigname receivers around the league are still waiting for their huge payday senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler back here with us in CD lamb not the only wide receiver looking for a new deal you got Brandon Iuka Jamar Chase as well where do things stand with these receivers and these new contracts starting with Chase yeah well my sense is the Bengals are open to sign in Jamar Chase now but he's got two years left on his deal they are hopeful that he will show up and practice now that he's been sitting out sooner than later maybe as early as next week although they've gotten no firm indication from him when that's going to be but the countdown is on there a few weeks now from the season and so I'm told the Bengals know what this is if they sign them it has to be a number well above $30 million per year cuz that's the market but getting to the right guarantees and structure that's going to take some time so it's not a slam dunk this gets done but I think the Bengals are going to try bit of a mystery though with this deal over the last few weeks less of a mystery is CD lamb because what's clear-cut is Dallas is trying to to people there check in today and they said look we believe this will get done we believe we can get it done before week one they know they got to put a huge number on it it is what it is his Market speaks for itself numers speaks for itself but getting to the Sweet Spot in the Finish Line just hasn't happened yet but it really could be any day lamb should get done before Dak Prescott then you got Brandon auk so he continues to wait Pittsburgh continues to wait I'm told the Steelers remain on standby on a potential trade they are as one source told me one phone call away but it's been that way really for a few weeks the feeling and sentiment around the league talking to Executives is they believe the 49ers will get a deal done with iuk somewhere around or just below $30 million per year on average but they're trying to work out those details there's some stuff on the back end of the contract that they'd like to find a sweet spot on that they have it and right now auk's played for about four or five different teams depending on the day so at the end of the day looks like it will be San Francisco yeah a lot of drama with these wide receivers and those contracts Jeremy Fowler with the insight you talk about the NFL only two weeks away from the first game of the regular season as we welcome in Herm Edwards and Herm you coached Brandon iuk at Arizona State oh you know you take a look at all the news around his options and where he should land what do you think about the situation and what option he should take well I'm hoping he stays the 49ers are also coach John Lynch the general manager there so I know both parties very well uh you know this is the perfect place for Brandon you're talking about a contending team that has an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl every year he's part of this dynamic offense with Samuel KD and obviously mcaffrey quarterback is very comfortable with him and he's comfortable in this offense and we we just talked about all these guys but all these receivers that the three receivers that we just mentioned along with Brandon that is sitting out right now these guys aren't in football shape and that's the scary part y because there's two weeks before practice starts before the games really start right and so these guys got to get to Camp eventually because they're big time players and these teams need them yeah and that's the one thing if you're a fan that you're worried about of course you went Brandon you to get the deal that he wants but huh time is ticking for him to get out there on the field and be ready for week one of the Season Herm Edwards with the Insight thanks so much for KC and Mastermind momes and so now that the Lombardi trophy has a blank space on it who's going to write their name every team hopes they're ready to Dethrone the Chiefs but are you ready for it let's go by the numbers last season Patrick momes and the Chiefs became the ninth team to win back-to-back Super Bowls he is PN analytics gives Kansas City a 12% chance to be the first team to three repeat something no team has done in NFL history and then there's Aaron Rogers his first season in New York didn't go as planned he did tears Achilles on the first drive we remember that 13 not so lucky for the Jets that's how many seasons it's been since they made the playoffs the longest active drought in the NFL and it's a new world for the Chicago Bears they took Caleb Williams first overall and loaded up on offense adding DeAndre Swift Keenan Allen and romad dun the have never had a quarterback throw 30 touchdowns in a season oh something I just keep being reminded of back now with her mws and so the four teams who played last night the Bears the Chiefs the Colts the Bengals their next game is for real because we have go of course have week one right around the corner and so coach let's go through the biggest questions you have for each of the teams I just laid out here we're going to start in Chicago with the Bears biggest question you got is well Caleb Williams play in structure of the offense and not try to play freelance so much cuz he has that ability reminds me a lot now said this numerous times of Patrick Mahomes in the Huddle this guy's he's going to be a fabulous football player but can he stay on schedule with the offense can he do that just stay in the pock not run around when the first read goes away and do all this other stuff but just can you stay on structure and on schedule that's going to be important okay can you stay on structure on schedule we will see of course they have so many weapons here now in Chicago let's go to Kansas City they're going for that three repat well sne lerus sne the secondary and you talk about a guy a big guy he's 61 about about 195 they can move him everywhere they moved him around with the best receiver now he's no longer there all right so how does Spagnola replace that you're talking about a guy that gets his hands on a lot of balls 14 deflections I think two interceptions so how do you replace that in the second game okay and the biggest rival now for Kansas City has somehow become Cincinnati and so as we ask questions about the Bengals what is it yeah well Joe burls historically has gotten off the slow starts last year they were one and three they can't do this they're in that division with the last time check the Pittsburgh Steelers the Ravens right I mean those are the guys you're dealing with the Cleveland Browns you know you can't get into this slow starting one and three that's not how you want to start right and it's always CU Joe burrow feels like he's coming off an injury and so they're kind of getting up to speed and so the last one here let's go to the Colts well Anthony Richardson there's going to be some yay and there's going to be some oh no the ups and downs of a rookie quarterback now this guy's a fabulous football player you but he's going to make him mistakes you got to go into the defensive room and tell him this he's going to turn the ball over some just hold him to field goals or get off the field cuz he's going to turn it over that's what rookie quarterbacks do right and he's not technically a rookie but he wasn't around after week five last year so does kind of feel like a repeat of his rookie season that's for sure not many pro football games underneath his belt right not and certainly not and they'll be tested early on I believe they have the Texans week one which we know we'll learn a lot about started last night with the Colts preseason finale Anthony Richardson was 7even for eight with a touchdown on the opening drive however he had just one completion the next four drives including a pick six late in the first quarter New England has yet to name its starting quarterback entering their preseason finale Sunday Drake May has led the patch to 10 points in his Five series this preseason while they haven't scored on any of Jobe Brett's drives and the Steelers still have a decision to make on their starter Russell Wilson and Justin Fields have yet to lead the Steelers to score in the pron just more than three points will son gets a start against Detroit on Saturday we welcome in our senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler and Jeremy has been a back and forth between Justin fields and Russell Wilson who will get the starting job who's in the driver's seat right now for week one well Wilson still in the driver seat he's qb1 on this week's depth chart the team was giddy to get him back in March and talking to people with the team they feel like Russell Wilson's command of Arthur Smith's offense at age 35 is stronger than fields at age 25 but Fields is an intriguing Talent he's shown it and flashed it throughout the preseason so certainly some fireworks could happen over the game this weekend but I don't sense a lot of consternation or a major battle here it seems that Wilson will remain in the driver seat at least get the start to week one cuz talking a lot of people around the league they believe it's easier to go from Russ to Fields if you have to than fields to Russ yeah definitely feels like Russell Wilson is in control of that situation there's another quarterback situation that needs to be decided that is in New England New on sport Center gerro Mayo on what he values about Drake may as he evaluates his quarterbacks to me the top two things mental toughness and just competitiveness those are two qualities that I really look at uh you know with quarterbacks I can't sit here and tell you unless it's like a A Philip Rivers release where man that's that release is kind of weird I don't get into the technical stuff like that but for me evaluating a quarterback or any other player but especially the quarterback they have to be mentally tough and they have to be able to just bounce back from all that you know the adversity that they're they're bound to see what have your thoughts on that going into camp and coming out of camp with Drake CU you knew jacobe had those two things yeah if you guys were remember early on like he was you throw interceptions and he get so down on himself and I would say now as we exit Camp he's done a lot better job being able to pull the nose up on the plane uh when it seems like it's going down and I think that's an important quality and Drake May trying to be qb1 in week one I have my thoughts on that after what we saw from M Jones in New England but a lot of rookie quarterbacks trying to make a case in the preseason finale take us through those quarterbacks starting with Drake May so Drake May has made a little bit of a case but here's the thing with that situation when they drafted May 21 years old they figured hey we would like to sit him that's been the plan that let him get some refinement work on his footwork work on his accuracy but you know you see the other week last week in the actually looks pretty good can throw the ball in the move has a big arm and so Jobe foret has been in the driver seat based on a lot of the first team reps he's gotten certainly the majority of those in the practices so so he remains pretty well positioned here but may week by week is trying to put together his case to be the starter sooner than later so the Sens is Bret's going to have to win games when he's in there and you got Malik Willis interesting case here because most teams or a lot of teams don't keep three quarterbacks he's the third guy in Tennessee former third round pick can he hang on but I was told that he's acquitted himself well enough this preseason played a lot faster mentally where the Titans are now considering do we keep him along with Mason Rudolph have two backups so he's helped himself a lot in Tennessee under Brian cahan over the last eight months so it'll be interesting around cut down time and then Bryce young so he is making a stand here in Carolina after a disastrous year in year one but with Dave Canales they've noticed a few things that have stood out his command of the offense is a lot better less pre- snap pen penalties less issues at the line of scrimmage so he's running a cleaner operation as the quarterback of the offense and then I'm told he really makes a couple wow throws per day he's really good off play action he's throwing on the move so they like what they've seen but this will be his first game action under this new offense they're going to give him probably a quarter or so see how he does yeah a lot of young quarterbacks trying to prove themselves in that preseason finale Jeremy Fowler with the insight and more from you in just a bit thanks so much thank you all right let's go back to that coltson Bengals preseason game from last night Anthony Richardson here driving the Colts down the field out of the gates on the Colts opening drive beautiful connection here with ad Mitchell coach yeah this was a nice throw here under pressure made the right decision got it on his numbers and they score a touchdown that's right seven nothing early here then later in the first though things ah not so good here for Anthony Richardson drops back to pass but uh that's the wrong team that's Jordan battle costly mistake threw it to the bad guys and the bad guys get a score and this is where you got to throw it on the outside shoulder of the tight end accuracy is important Richardson just trying to get into some early Rhythm here flushed out of the pocket stripped from behind Colts will recover the fumble to avoid yet another turnover though you got to protect the ball you got to carry it and and he got it in one hand and look he's a great athlete but he's got understand the NFL is fast these big guys can run that's right uh Colts would end up winning the game 27 to4 but as you heard coach Herm Edwards is here with us on Sports Center let's zoom in a little bit further here on Anthony Richardson because the reality of the situation is he only started 13 games in college at Florida he missed most of last season and so again he's just kind of trying to get that Rhythm but what are your expectations for him because week one is right around the corner well your expectations you're going to get a lot of wow and you're going to get a lot of oh no and and that's what he brings to the table right he's athletic we know that he has he's reminds me a lot of Cam Newton his size and his appearance as a quarterback right and I think when you're when you're a guy like this with not a lot of experience you just mentioned it accuracy is important and this is also important when he has a bad series the offensive coordinator Jim Bob cter he's going to have to make sure that next series he comes out there you got to get him started and maybe it's with the RPO games where he's part of the offense where he doesn't have to throw it all the time he can run it and use his legs cuz you have to get his confidence back we saw that we threw the interception he kind of had two or three Bad series after that you got to get him out of that yeah you and [Music] I [Music] for [Music] [Music] fore foree for for for
