U.S. Presidents are cursed... here's why.

throughout American history a chilling pattern has emerged one that has haunted the highest office in the land could it be a coincidence or is there something more Sinister at play could a Native American Prophecy from the early 1800s really spell Doom for some of the most powerful figures in history or is this just an eerie coincidence from assassinations to sudden illnesses these Eerie events have been linked to a mysterious curse with roots in a legendary Native American battle but is this curse of typic canoe just a historical myth or is there truth behind the legend Ronald join us as we explore the chilling legend of the curse of tipa Cano uncovering its Origins and investigating whether the Curse still looms over the White House today it all started with the Battle of tipa Cano which took place on November 7th 1811 near present day Lafayette Indiana it was a conflict between American forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana territory and Native American warriors associated with Shaunie leader tumsa and his brother tatawa who was known as The Prophet the roots of the battle lay in growing tensions between the United States and Native American tribes in the Northwest Territory to KSA a charismatic Shaunie leader sought to unite various tribes into a confederation to resist American expansion into their lands his brother tatawa was a religious leader who advocated for the rejection of European American culture and a return to traditional Native ways together they established a settlement called profits toown at the Confluence of the Wabash and tipu rivers which became a center of resistance against American encroachment Governor Harrison wary of The Growing Power of tumpa Confederation sought to neutralize this threat in the fall of 1811 while takuma was away in the South attempting to recruit more tribes to his cause Harrison LED an expedition of about 1,000 men towards Propet it town to intimidate the Confederation and negotiate a peaceful settlement on November 6th Harrison's forces camped near profit toown and a tense meeting with Native American Representatives that day failed to resolve the conflict early the next morning tatawa believing that a preemptive strike would give his Warriors an advantage launched a surprise attack on Harrison's encampment the native Warriors attacked Just Before Dawn attempting to exploit the element of surprise however Harrison's men were well prepared having arranged their camp in a defensive position and kept centries on alert the battle was fierce and chaotic fought in darkness and confusion the native Warriors inspired by Tat's Promises of Victory and invulnerability charged repeatedly at the American lines but were repelled each time despite initial success in penetrating the American Camp they were eventually driven back by Harrison's forces who regrouped and launched a Counterattack by Dawn the native Warriors began to withdraw their ammunition running low and the element of surprise lost Harrison's troops held their ground and after a few hours of fighting the native forces retreated to propit toown the battle ended with a victory for Harrison's forces though both sides suffered casualties the Americans lost about 62 men with around 126 wounded while the Native American casualties were harder to estimate but believed to be fewer following the Battle Harrison's men burned prophet's Town destroying the Food Supplies and houses which dealt a significant flow to the Native American resistance the defeat at tipa canu weakened TI's Confederation and diminished his influence especially among tribes hesitant to join his cause during the War of 1812 Harrison further reinforced his anti-indigenous reputation when he defeated the British and the tribes that aided them in the battle of the temps this additional defeat and the loss of more land to the American government is what drove team's brother tatawa to place a curse of death on all future US presidents elected in years ending in a zero in 1840 William Henry Harrison won the presidency with the slogan tipa Cano and Tyler 2 which referenced Harrison's role in the American victory at the Battle of tipa canoe in 1811 on a cold rainy day in Washington DC har harison delivered the longest inaugural address in US history lasting nearly 2 hours he spoke without wearing a hat or coat which some historians believe contributed to his developing a cold over the next few days his condition worsened and he developed symptoms consistent with pneumonia such as a persistent cough and a high fever despite treatment by his doctors Harrison's condition continued to deteriorate at the time medical knowledge was limited and the treatments he received which included bloodletting and the use of various medications like opium and epicac may have worsened his condition Harrison died on April 4th 1841 becoming the first US president to die in office his death was the first in a series of tragedies that struck presidents winning an election at the start of a new decade a pattern that would become known as takuma's curse or the curse of tipu Abraham Lincoln was elected in 1860 as the first person to run under the Republican party on the evening of April 14th 1865 Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln went to see the play our American cousin at Ford's Theater they were seated in a special box above the stage during the third Act of the play John wils Booth who had plotted to assassinate Lincoln as part of a broader conspiracy to revive the Confederate cause entered the box he approached Lincoln from behind and shot him in the back of the head with a 44 caliber daringer pistol after shooting Lincoln Booth jumped from the box to the stage breaking his leg in the process he shouted six Seer tyrannis Latin for thus always to tyrants the motto of Virginia and fled the theater escaping into the night Lincoln was immediately attended to by doctors in the audience and was then carried across the street to a boarding house where he was laid in a bed despite the doctor's efforts the bullet had caused severe brain damage and Lincoln never regained Consciousness he died the next morning on April 15th 1865 at 11:22 [Music] a.m. James Garfield was elected to the presidency in 1880 he took office on March 4th 1881 the events leading to his death began on July 2nd 18 1981 Garfield was at the Baltimore and pomac Railroad Station in Washington DC preparing to depart on a trip with his family as he walked through the station Gau a disgruntled office Seeker who believed he deserved a government appointment approached him from behind and fired Two Shots one bullet grazed Garfield's arm while the other lodged in his back near the spine despite the the seriousness of his wounds Garfield did not die immediately he was carried to the White House where a team of doctors was assembled to care for him unfortunately the medical practices of the time were not as advanced as they are today the doctors repeatedly probed Garfield's wound with unsterilized fingers and instruments attempting to locate the bullet these efforts introduced bacteria into the wound leading to severe infection and sepsis Garfield endured a painful and debilitating ordeal over the next few weeks with symptoms including fevers chills and an inability to keep down food his condition fluctuated but he gradually weakened due to infection malnutrition and the effects of the bullet wound on September 6th 1881 in an attempt to provide some relief Garfield was moved from Washington DC to a Seaside Cottage in elberon New Jersey in the hopes that the fresh air and cooler climate would improve his health however his condition continued to deteriorate on September 19th 1881 Garfield suffered a massive heart attack or possibly a ruptured spleenic artery aneurysm caused by the infection and died later that evening William McKinley was elected to his second term in 1900 once again he defeated his opponent William Jennings Brian as he had in 1896 William McKinley the 25th president of the United States died on September 14th 1901 after being shot by an assassin named Leon cholos the assassination occurred on September 6th 1901 while McKinley was attending the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo New York McKinley was greeting the public in the temple of Music a pavilion at the exposition when cholos approached him cholos an anarchist who believed that killing McKinley would strike a blow against the government had concealed a revolver in a handkerchief as he extended Ed his hand to shake McKinley's he fired two shots at close range the first bullet grazed McKinley but the second bullet penetrated his abdomen hitting his stomach pancreas and kidney before lodging in the muscles of his back McKinley initially appeared to be recovering after surgery where doctors managed to close the wound and clean the damaged areas but they were unable to locate the second Bullet at the time X-rays were a new technology and were not used during his treatment despite his initial signs of recovery McKinley's condition took a turn for the worse about a week after the shooting on September 13th he began to suffer from gangrene and septicemia that had developed around his wounds his health rapidly declined as the infection spread and he slipped in and out of consciousness on September 14th 1901 8 days after being shot McKinley died from Gang Green caused by the bullet wounds vice president Theodore Roosevelt who had rushed back from a vacation upon hearing of McKinley's worsening condition was sworn in as president shortly after McKinley's death [Music] [Music] Warren G Harding elected in 1920 is widely known as one of the worst Presidents of all time scandals such as the Teapot Dome and others marred his presidency Warren died on August 2nd 1923 while in office he passed away suddenly from a heart attack or stroke while on a speaking tour in San Francisco California Harding had been suffering from health issues including heart problems and his death came as a shock to the nation initially there was some speculation about the exact cause of his death leading to rumors of poisoning but these were never substantiated the official cause of death was attributed to a heart attack Complicated by pneumonia [Music] Franklin Roosevelt was elected to his third term in 1940 he would be elected again in 1944 his presidency began in the depths of the Great Depression and ended shortly after the fall of Hitler in World War II he passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage at his retreat in warm Springs Georgia Roosevelt had been suffering from declining health for several years partly due to the immense stress of leading the country through the Great Depression and World War II despite his health issues he had just begun his fourth term in office earlier that year when he suddenly collapsed and died his death marked the end of an era as he was the only US president to serve more than two terms since he was elected during one of his ter terms in a year that ended with a zero he is considered part of tumi's curse John F Kennedy the 35th President of the United States elected in 1960 was assassinated on November 22nd 1963 in Dallas Texas he was shot while riding in a motorcade through D Plaza Kennedy was in an open toop convertible limousine with his wife jacalene Texas governor John Connelly and Connelly's wife Nelly as the motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository shots rang out [Applause] Kennedy was struck by two bullets the first bullet hit him in the upper back and exited through his throat and the second fatal bullet struck him in the head Governor Connelly was also wounded by the first shot but survived the shots were fired by Lee Harvey Oswald who was positioned in a sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository Kennedy was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital where doctors attempted to save him but but he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the shooting Oswald was captured later that day but was killed two days later by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while being transferred from the city jail to the county jail which prevented him from standing trial [Music] in 1980 Ronald Reagan became the oldest man to be elected president this actor turned politician also suffered highs and lows during his two terms in office he is seen as an important figure in the breakdown of the former Soviet Union however his presidency was tarnished by the Iran Contra Scandal on March 30th 1981 John hinley attempted to assassinate Reagan in Washington DC Ronald re Reagan was shot but was able to survive with quick medical attention Reagan was the first to foil takuma's curse and some hypothesize the president who finally broke it for good [Music] [Applause] George W bush elected in the curse active year of 2000 survived two assassination attempts and several alleged plots during his two terms in office the next president elected in a year ending in zero is Joe Biden elected in 20220 while some devotees of the curse suggest that the assassination attempts themselves were to hum's work every president since Nixon has been the target of at least one assassination plot take a look at what happened these events led many to believe that the curse had either been broken or never existed in the first place dismissing it as mere coincidence the breaking of the curse is often attributed to advances in medical care improved security measures and perhaps just the randomness of History Reagan's survival after the assassination attempt in particular was seen as a turning point signaling an end to the Eerie pattern that had plagued US presidents for over a
