open their highly anticipated season in San Francisco on Monday Night Football as three and a half Point Underdog the four-time MVP suffered to turn Achilles four snaps into the Jets career last season meanwhile Lamar Jackson and the Ravens open against a familiar foe Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs who knocked them out of last year's playoffs in the AFC title game this time they'll meet in Kansas City and Joe burrow will return from a season ending wrist injury before week one against the Patriots before Showdown with the Chiefs week two in KC burrow is the only player other than Tom Brady to beat momes in a playoff game our quarterback danowski back here with us Dan who's the quarterback uh who has the highest expectations this season yeah it's Patrick Mahomes uh one we all would be this man the highest expectations Shannon expectations are Patrick Mahomes one we all would be somewhat surprised if Kansas City doesn't get back to the Super Bowl somewhat surprised not shocked but like oh man someone finally beat Kansas City and Patrick so one they're the favorites Shannon are they the favorites in the AFC Shannon are they the favorites yes go ahead goad I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry D I'm sorry okay so Kansas City are the favorites in the AFC not shocked if someone knocks them off favorites number two the expectations are that he's going to do something that's never done been done before win three straight Super Bowls okay three if we're being honest about the football team I don't know anybody in the AFC that definitively has a better roster than Kansas City Houston Cleveland is really good but top to bottom roster the expectations are that Kansas City's roster is as good as anybody he's a Hall of Famer he's got a Hall of Fame tight end he's got a Hall of Fame coach he's got a Hall of Fame defensive player and he's got a guy that's probably one of the best big game defensive Minds in football over the past couple Generations in Steve spagnolo so while there are a lot of people at play to knock them off the expectations that Patrick Mahomes are facing those are the highest in the NFL cuz we expect him to be MVP and Super Bowl champion at the end of the day D how you going to say a man that's won three Super Bowls in a four-year span he's a two time League MVP he has a 50 pass touchdown season he has two 5,000 yard seasons he's been a three time he's been a three- time Super Bowl MVP he's 15 and three and he's under the gun the most no I said he has the highest he's trying to do something he's he's he's trying accomplish something that's never been done the closest has ever been cut to a threee is the 49ers lost in 90 in the NFC Championship Game to the Giants with a on a fumble and then the Giants kick the field goal and end up winning the Super Bowl I think the guy that's that has the biggest expectations is Aaron roders because you told us earlier now Stephen you see how he done flip he said earlier Aaron Rogers was under the greatest expectations that's what you told that's what you said if it's a lie you told it now we can go back and run the tape said because you switched it no the question was hold on hold on put me on camera put me the qu the question was which qub back needs to beat Patrick Mahomes the most and to that is where he mentioned Aaron Rogers right and he said he's under the greatest expect we gonna play the stay back but anyway here's the thing Aaron roders I've heard for the last three years that if the Jets had a quarterback with that defense and that coaching staff this is a Super Bowl team well you get a quarterback that's a four-time league MVP that's a former Super Bowl champion who's one of the greatest throwers of the football in the history of the game you have that you have that outstanding defense coached by Robert solah you've got Garrett Wilson you've got weapons you got Breeze Hall who's a year remove further from that knee injury you have the quarterback that you've been telling us for the last three years you told us that Zach Wilson you told us that white all those guys are terrible if we just had a competent well Aaron Rogers is more than competent I believe Aaron Rogers is under the greatest expectations given the roster that the Jets have because he said himself there's 8 to 12 teams that's in the mix for the Super Bowl and we're one of those 8 to 12 Dan olowski makes me sick sometimes you really do I'm G tell you why I'm G tell you why it makes me sick okay I say that affectionately cuz that's my brother here's the thing Dan olowski you know good and damn well what we mean by that question what you did was you interpreted it in a literal sense so you could influence the narrative we all know that when you think about Patrick Mahomes because of how great he is anything is Super Bowl or failure because he has the potential to deliver you multiple Super Bowl championships because he already has in six years he won six AFC Title Games he's won a division all six years he's been the four Super Bowls he's one three it could have easily been five Super Bowls or whatever we know all of this already but when the question is asked about highest expectations you know that what we're asking of essentially who got to deliver who got to show up and get it done who is the microscope on because guess what it's a pressure cooker for you you don't take the some of the great ones that have already won you take that for granted of course we expect the road to the Super Bowl to have to go through Patrick Mahomes but when you talk about expectations in other words who better live up to them who better answer the call Patrick Mahomes can fail we ain't going to lose no sleep over it if he loses okay this wasn't your year you didn't three Pat oh my Lord the world is going to end no ain't nobody thinking like that okay you can't win all the time Lamar Jackson got a win now say that much Lamar Jackson's knocking on the door you a two-time league MVP you in't the AFC title game for the first time in your career last year Z flowers doesn't get stripped to the football who knows what opport who knows what the outcome may have been in that AFC title game we get all of that but in the end you got to show up and you got to find a way to get it done so we can validate mentioning you potentially in the same breath as a Patrick Mahomes in terms of who Patrick Mahomes has to compete with for AFC Supremacy right now it's Joe burrow a few years ago it was Josh Allen we were looking at Josh Allen and saying Josh Allen that dude and then Joe burrow came into the mix and took him out okay and then ultimately beat Patrick Mahomes in the AFC title game and he went on to the Super Bowl so if you're Lamar Jackson having Patrick Mahomes ahead of you is no crime but having Joe burrow within the division deemed to be superior to you could be problematic so when we talk about expectations we're like yo man we expect you to be great you got to show us and validate that that's what we're looking at Mar Lamar Jackson is saying and that's what we mean when we ask such a question okay so my deepest apologies for taking it literal I've been on this show many of times when the question has been quarterback with the most pressure on him and to that answer I've always said it's really Aaron Rogers and DeShaun Watson when it comes to this season but the quarterback facing the highest expectations is the literal question and that's momes I mean is it not fair to say that he led them on the backs of an unbelievable defense but led them to the Super Bowl with a subpar pass catching unit last year we have all watched this off season the addition of Hollywood Brown and then the trade with the Buffalo Bills and they draft Xavier worthy out of Texas and everyone's like oh my gosh Buffalo how could you out out of anybody or of everybody give them that draft pick and now we're going okay they have speed back into their offense so the expectations are that this football team is the back-to-back Champions will be better offensively significantly better than they were last year and they still have one of the best defenses in football I'll go back to this point do both of you expect Kansas City to be in the Super Bowl yes or no I don't expect it not this year it's hard for me to expect somebody to three his expectation is to win a Super Bowl and to be in a Super Bowl all right so you guys are both picking somebody but the Chiefs I'm picking the field yes no but in the AFC okay but do do you've been telling us for the better part of a year Aaron Rogers Aaron Rogers this defense everybody in New York said if if if they had a competent quarterback you get someone that's more than competent he plays the game at the highest of levels how is he in this jet team he's saying that he has pressure that Aaron Rogers has pressure versus with uh rck Mahomes the expectation is a Super Bowl for Aaron Rogers it's not there's pressure to get's expec no one's expecting him to be in the Super Bowl this year is what he's saying they're expecting Patrick Mahomes but there's pressure for him to get there that's not what Aaron Rogers said Aaron Rogers said there's eight to8 to 12 teams that's not that's not what everybody that I've been he hearing talk about the Jets and Aaron roders you think you think people expect you think people expect Aaron Rogers to get to the Super Bowl this season that's the comment considering that defense considering that defense and considering a Garrett Wilson and Hall at the running back and the revamped off remember they when I got Tyron Smith to protect his Blind Side so you're absolutely right they expect him to be there yes absolutely Molly I haven't heard that being in New York but maybe in in your city saying here's the deal about expectations okay when we ask such a question on this show what's the consequences if you don't meet him with Patrick momes there are none there are no consequences there is nothing that's going to taint him at all if he doesn't three Pat because he has three rings in four years and he's only 28 years old okay and he's got a decade of football ahead of him I could argue it helps him past Brady in the goat conversation if he gets three in a row it does it hasn't for [Music] said Tom for spe for he take for God e fore
