DL Hughley on Jerrod Carmichael Getting Mad at Dave Chappelle's Trans Jokes (Part 12)

I mean you criticize uh gerod carmichel for calling out Dave Chappelle over the I did I thought that was crazy I think it's crazy for any comic to get mad at a comic for doing a joke yeah I think this is stupid I I do I think I think like when Michael Richard said what he said it was a joke whatever I I I like that wasn't a joke that wasn't a joke talking about the whole the whole n word that wasn't a joke that was him getting heckled angrily responding that was not part of his routine I don't think he went to that show going okay today I'm gonna say that black people should be hanged I think that whatever think I'm such a proponent of free speech that I believe that you should be able now obviously and people get it confused it's not you're not free from consequences but I'm really a proponent of free speech and I respect somebody's right to have a Divergent opinion whether I agree with it or not and to be loud about now I will respect your right to do it it doesn't mean I like it or that I'm going to stay there while it happens but I'm not going to I'm not going to shout I I don't believe somebody should be shouted down because they say things that I think are offensive or don't agree with I just choose like you know I got a remote and I got ears I can just like turn but I think the thing that I'm what really vexes me is why do people it's almost like when somebody goes hey this milk is bad taste this no [ __ ] I don't want to taste it why do I like so I think that that we have this thing where not only do I not like a thing but I got to get this cabol of people to not like it too but I I I I really believe that free speech and I think it's particularly incendiary when when an edgy bright comic uh does some things that people don't agree with and he says something else about another edgy bright comic I just that's just ingenuous I do I thought it was crazy yeah I mean Michael Richards got legitimately cancelled you really have not heard of him since from that moment on which was like my God what like 2006 or five or something the next time I saw him was Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians and Cars Getting Coffee where they were talking about that incident I haven't seen him in any roles I haven't seen him doing standup I've seen no specials he's really been laying low this whole time but he could he got SFI reruns he can got that money he'll be all right but but it's not rare I don't know that that I think you're lucky if you get that kind of role ever so I don't know that repeating that would be something and he wasn't he wasn't the star of it he was no he wasn't the star but but I mean you really ever now listen and that was horrific what he did but I mean listen look at Justin Bieber he had a song you know where he's talking about killing black people and now he's still a huge Superstar and every black person works with them look was was the kid the country single singer just said [ __ ] Morgan yeah Morgan W once again
