how it's done um Ben a lot of things has happened this week and last week especially today the roster was cut to 53 there was a lot of surprises I really don't want to get into the depth chart just now um just before the depth chart came out we traded yesterday Malik Willis to the Green Bay Packers for a seventh round pick what was your initial thought on that because I think he played pretty good in the preseason it showed growth but but like I said three coordinators in the last three years for him and now going on his fourth coordinator going to a different team it's got to be tough on a young man I know we love uh we like him as a person um but you know Malik showed out and showed growth this year I mean how how do you how do you feel uh letting the mobile quarterback Go versus uh keeping the pocket passer and Mason Rudolph and the quarterbacks with two on the roster I uh I wish him nothing but the best I'll tell you that much nothing against Malik Willis um you know kid has talent can throw the ball a mile can run around make some plays it seemed as if though we were pretty um dead set on obviously Levis being our starter and then we signed Ron Rudolph to a I believe a couple years in the off season he's an established backup so you kind of saw the writing on the wall they were not going to carry three quarterbacks uh even probably with the you know addition of being able to add one on game day without it having to count against a roster spot they weren't going to keep three they're probably going to cut him and the fact that they found someone to take um him and give us something in return you know shout out ran again kid has kid has potential he definitely does I think it will behoove him to stay in a system that is not going to change for an extended period of time work behind a quarterback like Jordan love who somewhat similar Skillet wise to him um but I wish him nothing but the best no ill will Sal and I had spoke about wasn't you and I when we said uh I was saying that you know I kind of wish he takes his number two job and runs with it because he does offer a higher um ceiling excuse me obviously because of his mobility and his ability to throw the ball anywhere from anywhere on the field um that being said uh he's just shown barely shown flashes you know a few plays here and there it seems like sometimes the game hasn't slowed down for him yet um granted it's not we're not doing him any favors by you know the Carousel of uh coaches he's had over the last few years but with that being said we got a seventh round pick for him and uh wish him nothing but the best we'll see him week three well not really he'll be you know backing up Jordan love but um yeah I I don't know how you feel about it but there's no love loss with me wish him nothing but the best and um you know we'll see if he becomes a uh a starter later on his career but he seems like a guy he'll be in the league at for a while but most likely has a backup yeah I think he's in the perfect situation over there in Green Bay I mean Jordan loves sat for a long time under Aaron roders uh Malik Willis he could be the backup for Jordan love similar style quarterback like you said um just sit and learn again and develop under Matt laflor I think it's the perfect ideal situation I think ran um brought it up to him that you know there's development still and and that'll be the perfect spot for him um wish him nothing but the best like I said I'm not I'm not a Malik hater I just didn't want I didn't think fit our team um at the time you know we were rolling with Ryan tanah Hill coming in he was the hot name Malik Willis but like I said coming from the SEC and then going to uh you know Liberty that the competition was drastic in my opinion and yes he's GNA ball out at Liberty nothing taken away from Liberty but um I just still think there's so much more growth he can do and he showed way a ton of improvement from year one to um till right now so I mean even this offseason he looked really good in the preseason so nothing nothing uh I got nothing bad to say about Malle Willis moving on former firstr Draft pick from the John Robinson era Caleb Farley finally cut another one I mean you get you get a gut punch from him you feel bad for him with his with his the the father and um his constant back injuries and not being on the field it's played only 12 games for us um it was time to move on in my opinion from him uh we we've got a lot of we got a couple studs on the team we we'll get more into the depth chart as the podcast goes on but what was your initial thought now you saw Caleb Farley is no longer a Tennessee Titan now similar to how I felt about um Malik Willis it is what it is you know the writing was on the wall here he's barely played I think 160 snaps in three years he's been on the team a complete bust of a pick from John Robinson one of his many uh but the kid has talent could I saw he made a really nice hit on somebody on special teams I believe this weekend that had to feel good for him but he's you know just so far behind at this point in his career even he was hurt his last year in college too so he really hasn't played a full season football probably what four five years at this and you're expecting him to jump in at the NFL level and you know be able to keep up it's a talles and it's a shame because the kid went through a lot you know himself physically um then the whole thing with his house and his his father passing and it hasn't been any easy few years for him for sure and I really wish him along with Mal nothing but the best I don't wish bad on on anybody but I did not expect him to make the team to be honest it's um you know this is what going in the year three or four for him four four so yeah I mean he's just it's it's a shame it really is and uh well listen he's young he's he's got to be somewhat healthy at this point he hasn't played football in a while so hopefully he latches on somewhere else and uh you know wish him nothing but the best um before we get into um other other news I just want to touch on since we were on the quarterback situation um just a couple things I know it's I know it's preseason and I don't want to get carried away or anything like that but the Titans were three and0 for the first time since 2003 last time they were three and0 in the preseason we went 12 and four I'm not not saying anything but uh some good points you know to talk about now we scored 30 points um will Lis was 11 of 13 for 153 yards 11.8 yards per p uh play and he had 115.7 passer rating with one rushing touchdown to me you know I mean we knew he was an accurate passer we knew he was one of the best passers against the pressure uh last year this is another growth thing for me for will Levis that if he has the weapons around him he is going to provide big numbers this year in my opinion in that limited role we saw everything we needed to see if that if that's in the game I'm happy with that another one another reason why Mason Rudolph is still qb2 now backing up will Lis I think Mason Rudolph was number four three or four in um passer rating in the preseason that says a lot I mean because the backup quarterbacks you're fighting for that spot I mean the guy can sling it too and and like he's a proven uh veteran quarterback he went 3-0 down the stretch in Pittsburgh so there's no doubt about it uh we don't want to Mason Rudolph at all but God forbid we ever did um it solidify as a veteran quarterback in that QB room um moving on Titans made a huge huge huge addition on defense uh which we kind of needed it after chance Campbell went down with a torn ACL um kind of stinks for him too because he was having a hell of a camp I tweeted about it um he was all over the field um I think he was leading the preseason in in in tackles too um Ernest Jones plus a sixth round pick and we uh and we got a fifth we we traded him we got a fifth round pick for him right or yeah yeah no traded no we traded a fifth round pick for him that's we got er Jones and a sixth this this kids a stud if you're talking about pairing him with Murray now and you have the other guys like Gibbons and James Williams uh coming off the bench in other packages or give these guys a break I am I am happy with this he was the only linebacker to have 145 tackles and five sacks last year 14 tackles for loss losses and he had 86 run grade and a 83 pass rush grade I mean this guy is clearly all over the field 30 pressures as a linebacker LED all linebackers last year so it it just making this move he was unhappy with a situation over here we were talking about it before the show um I think they're all in to try to win now with two more years left on on will L's contract where they're GNA give this guy a two-year deal and try to win either this year or next year okay because him and Murray together right now they that screams the Titans are going to Blitz all night just like Remember the Titans we're going to make them remember the night they played the Titans Okay uh that to me that's just another staple to the defense now to say hey we we got our linebackers and let's go what was your thought on on seeing that acquisition today well after your boy rip pance Campbell went down you know he uh ACL unfortunately we were already looking thin especially cuz Cedric gray has that shoulder issue with the nerve and you don't really know when it's going to regenerate um you know and with the room being thin in general you kind of think they had to make a move there were some Rumblings of it on Twitter today and I'm not even going to try to lie to you and I think most people probably will admit to this too unless you're a Rams fan the name Ernest Jones didn't really ring a bell at first and then they started throwing up his stats you saw everyone on Twitter had nothing but good things to say about the way he plays um so I think he's gonna make this team I mean make this team I think he's going to be um you know a big part of this defense yeah everyone's saying he's gonna fit dard Wilson style um incredibly well so we'll see we we we've been deprived of a really good linebacker for a long time you know since the uh the late great Will Compton let's say ke bu too yeah but we really haven't had that you know solid linebacker um in our room for a long time so hopefully he is just that he's pretty young too maybe we could uh I like that do it in the Keith the uh Mike Keith voice yeah um so hopefully we see a lot of sacks uh a okay I'm I'm with you but I like it we gave up nothing to really get him I'm kind of curious as to why the Rams thought maybe uh he was not a part of their future maybe they think they couldn't pay him in a year or two uh who knows but we we got him for next to nothing so shout out shout out ran again very excited uh to have him and the more I read about him and you know look at his tape and see his numbers from the last few years you know what's there not to be excited about no absolutely not I mean like I said pairing him with Murray Murray is a goalgetter and both of these linebackers are go-getter so there's a Clear Vision what this what this defense is going to look like this year they're going to lock down people and they're going to just pass rush with with the linebackers obviously but look what Rand has done with this defense it it's it's totally revamped um sweat they got Sebastian Joseph day all new linebackers I mean you got Harold landre arony off the off the edges but you have uh Murray now and you have Jones in the middle you have uh Cheeto you have Sneed you got Roger McCreery now you got um brownley Jr you got Diggs you got Adams and you got hooker I mean it's a totally revamped defense when you look at it how can he do that much to a team in one off season just about it's crazy yeah I mean listen he must have learned a lot under John Lynch and that staff in San Francisco you look at the epitome of a team that's they've been to three Super Bowls since what 2014 you know yeah they haven't won any of them but they've been very they've been to a few other Title Games too NFC Title Games theyve been a team that's been a staple in the league um actually forever really but this current regime you know that they have has been very successful aside from the year Nick Bosa was hurt but shout out him and and what he's able to do and what he did with this team and even last year we were competitive and we could have won a few more games that we actually did and this year I think you're right we are playing to win now we believe in will Evis and the weapons we grounded them with we've revamped the defense with uh probably the two best quarterbacks who were made available ler was a free agent sne they we knew was probably going to get traded somewhere so we went out got those two guys um still a little anxious about the interior defensive line and we'll see how it works out with sweat and how he translates and uh Joseph day as well but yes I think this defense is and not only that a new coordinator too who has had sucess in this league and has had success with players that are currently on this team such as Jamal Adams so you know I'm excited for we're going to be gra we're going to it's a whole new not only regime for Titans football on the offensive side but the defensive side too you're going to get a very you know aggressive defense that's going to be Blitz heavy and I'm I'm excited to see it so love the trade love love the trade today I was GNA say it but I guess we'll wait till we'll throw the Jeff chart up your your boyfriend made the team too your DT your D2 uh you know yes when we get to that depth chart real quick we're gonna get to it after I talk about this but yes I'm I'm happy he actually is going to get a shot at that I really didn't want to see Shane Ray there but before we go on to um the depth chart I really want to talk about one thing because this is an absolute turnaround because what Bill Callahan has done to this offensive line and they they had in the preseason they had 50 snaps together there was two pressures allowed zero snaps uh zero sacks and 50 pressures from that offensive line the only two pressures that's came on those 50 snaps was from your boy Raiden and mpf they had one pressure each was it Sal boy it's one of boys I think I think I think it's Sal boy but either way manter there is there there's a lot uh just just have our quarterback stand in a pocket on third down and have the time and just find the open receiver and sling it I I mean I hope it stays like this for the rest of the year because we haven't seen this for a very long time from the Ben Jones and Tera Lewan and Roger staffeld era um so I mean it's been it's been a couple years so Titans fans keep your fingers crossed because speak at that right side though don't talk too much about them because Jeffrey Simmons was just on the record saying how much better that right side looked at the end of Camp as as opposed to the beginning of Camp so and then there was baldinger too uh always a great guy to watch when it comes to breaking down film he's just so good at it um was talking about the Titans offensive line a few times over the last so hopefully that left side is something that we won't have to worry about the next decade so yeah that and um did you see cushenberry on that screen absolutely pick up that Defender I'm S I watched that like four times I'm like oh my God insane that was J I mean if we see that all year round I am I am happy as hell it scares me sometimes when you see a play like that you'll get a penalty called in today's for you know unnecessary roughness when in reality it's the physics of a 65 340 pound man going up against going up against guy who's you know literally my size you know 59 200 PBS so I'm a little more than 200 right now but you get what I'm saying um it's just you know I hope that plays like that aren't uh penalized throughout the course of the year because it was that's that's real old school football right there and it was it was refreshing to see I'm sure they had that remote and they kept rewinding during fil session rewind rewind uh I know this was when we had the joint practices but how about when Jeffrey Simmons uh manhandled lak Thomas oh yes and his he gotta he had a realize after he went to the end of that line like damn everybody just saw that every and that is an offensive lineman that's not kushberry going up against a defensive back this is a offensive lineman 330 probably plus pounds getting manhandled by Jeffrey Simmons um and hopefully we see that all year round and listen I think Jeff Simmons not he had a he had a bit of an off year for what we expect from him still had a solid year dou with some injuries at the end of the year I still think Jeff Simmons can get better I don't think we've seen the best of Jeff Simmons yet I think you're going to see over the course of the next few years and I've been on the record saying this even though he you know refused a picture with me in uh Dallas's airport a couple years ago I'm his biggest fan in the sense that I think he has Aaron Donald type potential Aaron Donald might be the best football player we've ever seen of Our Lives obviously but I think he could wreak havoc the way Aaron Donald did and get to that next level he's a great player already Jeffrey Simmons I think he can be hands down the best defensive tackle in the league like Aaron Donald was three top five for sure but I'm talking about him getting to the level where it's you can't argue it anymore I think Jeff Simmons has that potential where he could be the known as the best defensive tackle in the NFL well I mean that's that's easy to agree with because now with the with the cornerbacks and the secondary that we have I mean there's going to be coverage sacks now I mean if the quarter if the quarterback can't get to their uh his number one read or number two read and he's got three seconds or four seconds to throw the ball they're going to get to him sweat and that that pocket's going to collapse and it's going to create a ton of sacks for us this year so uh hopefully we have the sack parade again for the Broadway bullies and and this this this season's coming man this season's coming speaking of The Season's coming let's talk about the depth chart let's talk about surprises let's let's see there was a couple things that actually stood out to me uh Sammy throw that depth chart up and let's talk about it so this is from Titans Rossy we asked him to use the depth chart he obviously always says go right ahead guys so shout out to to rossie for letting us do it put a beautiful depth chart together over here um Vin by looking at the depth chart really quick what was give me your biggest surprise who made it uh who how many uh positions we're carrying at the moment what's your thoughts um I thought maybe kiris Jackson would make the team as well as um jaquin Jackson we talked about that last week he was a cut a cut though unfortunately um I'm proud of myself that I accurately predicted the right side of the offensive line a couple weeks ago on the show I said I think run is going to take the guard job I'd like to see it happen same with mpf on the right tackle position so um I'm not surprised that we kept uh four extra lineman you know Bruno get playing time Jaylen Duncan supposedly they said likes they like the fact he could play left and right side um I'm a little surprised we only kept four cornerbacks although Elijah molden could be used as a quarterback as well I thought maybe Trey Avery would make the team again as a little bit of depth but brownley someone that they absolutely love who they think could be one of the steals of this whole draft class in a couple years people look back at it and he could be the sne of this draft class so um I'm also a little surprised we kept five tight ends um to be honest but other than that no really big surprises you and I accurately predicted that uh Kyle Phillips would not make the team good ridden spoty your highlight type was sick in college that's that's all you've had really you know you can't stay on the field you drop punts um he'll probably latch on somewhere else uh if belich and Brady were around he'd have New England Patriot written all over him and he'd probably catch a 100 passes in that offense but nothing too surprising really chessnut being the three running back I guess as well um I think uh the why can't I think of his name H Haskins um could be some one they keep on the practice sad if he clears waivers and then your boy made it Caleb Murphy good for him shout out him no free shout out so yeah I mean that's what I make of it you know nothing that's really you know blew me away when it came to the death chart but thought maybe they'd keep another Corner thought they'd keep Caris Jackson thought H Haskins would maybe be the three but they would Chestnut has been a phenomenal in the preseason the last few years that dude runs angry man he is a large individual and runs hard so um and then keeping five tight ends was a little weird to me but other than that you know that's it's uh you know how I feel about it obviously our boy uh the kicker didn't make the team Nick Folk back this year I hope that um nobody gets him although I think Green Bay might take him because Green Bay cut Carlson today Dan Carlson's brother um so if he does if he clears labors I'd like to bring him back because that kid definitely has potential we'll hear his name in the league for a while kick yarders as a rookie I mean you really don't see that um often but no other than that you know how do you how do you feel about the um the death chart I mean just just going right down the list here uh Julius chesna getting over Assan H Haskins after uh the special teams coach and everybody was raving about how Hassan H Haskins uh you know he's he's unbelievable at special teams you know he obviously he can run the ball too but he plays special teams like a linebacker but it's hard to argue that Julius Chesnut can't be on this roster because he has shown out the last couple of years like you said and uh there's no reason why he lost a roster spot to a special teams Guy where we have a lot of linebackers and safeties that you know and you know outside linebackers Caleb Murphy and Harold and um Weaver that they all can play special teams so I mean they they took the value there in Chestnut um so I mean yes reward Chestnut for that spot five tight ends to me U it rings a bell this is another position that rings a bell to me they all absolutely um deserve a spot especially Martin Robinson um and odoyo uh Nick Vanette is a uh proven veteran but he's more of a blocking tight end but he caught a lot and then you have the two guys in AO and Josh Wy who the sky's limit for them in this offense we haven't seen yet but one of those three in my opinion at the bottom of the depth chart I think that is a move yes they didn't want to lose one of those guys yet but to me we're very thin at the defensive line we're very thin at cornerback we have four piece at those positions to me it smells like that rank carthon is trying to move somebody not move somebody trying to pick up somebody from another team to add to the quarterback room or the defensive line room and drop one of those three tight ends okay because to me you can't go into the season with four starting quarterback starting quarterbacks and or four defensive line I mean I mean to me I just don't see ran doing that that's just my gut feeling uh both of those are are Premier positions and um versus the tight end who's not not not really a premier position you can plug in an extra lineman you know for blocking big sets um but um Quan Jackson uh obviously he showed out as a punt returner uh and a kick returner this year uh uh ABS absolute threat in a slot when he's in the field so um I was saying good ridd to Kyle Phillips too because like your availability is your best ability right he's been not on the field you know he showed the flashes against the Giants uh a couple years ago where we're like damn we finally got his career yeah like I remember five six catch is 67 and then like you fall you fall down and you fall down the J and the new guys come in you know Quan Jackson if if he's gonna be a spark for us on punt return and kick return you did your job as the uh six wide receiver got game breaking speed too don't be surprised if they put him in in play action set absolutely yeah similar to the way we used to use khif Raymond um a return guy who you're going to get in on certain pack PES to just run that nine route man just run straight and look up in the air um so I like that I like that he made the team and that we have someone that could burn um of course your boy NWI C curious to see what happens with Burks this year that'll be this is kind of Mak or break for him he's he could get that uh Kyle Phillips treatment next year if he you know continues to you know get hurt and uh you know not produce but yeah man I'll see we'll see what happens I mean you mentioned in the text cash a question mark trade Chi maybe would youed I mean I would be I would be surprised if they do because there's so much potential but like I said with the wide receivers you know how many mouths could there be fed in this offense yeah I mean yeah CH is is a great spot but if you can get you know Trey shagen a pick for you know another quarterback or another defensive line to help Jeffrey Simmons you know you're all pro defensive tackle yeah um I would I would I would entertain the idea and a lot of people were talking about it on Twitter too uh possibly you know sh getting moved but obviously he's not so um hey you never never absolutely you never know what rand's thinking right now because he's trying to improve this team and this roster you know from top to bottom so it doesn't matter what he does uh there's another thing Rashad Weaver making the roster I I thought he was going to be cut after that last game to me struggles that he is not an outside linebacker I think he's more of a five technique on the defensive line put his hand down and ver pass he is not good at containing if you see every time he rushes he's getting you know he's he's leaving the contain and he's going right inside on the offensive line so I mean I I I did not I mean yeah I get you know his upside but Harold outplayed him in my opinion I'm gonna be an advocate for Caleb Murphy I think he's a better pass rusher those two guys are better pass rushers in my opinion um of Rashad Weaver so that was a little bit of a had some attitude problems I think the last few years too he's very CTIC sometimes the think when he gets you know when he doesn't get the dress on um Sundays and he's tweeted things in the past you know that are currently mature and cryptic so I have no loyalty towards him either if they got rid of him I wouldn't have felt any kind of way but I'd like to see your boy Caleb Murphy you know get an opportunity why not you know yeah finally and then uh the another thing that surprised me uh Cedric Cedric Ray uh highly recruited um highly draft pick out of North Carolina he hasn't been in Camp that much this year G to you know he has a nerve problem I don't know why they didn't start him on on IR maybe you know he's gonna be coming back you know from the injury fairly soon before what four weeks or six weeks they gotta be put on uh I think it's four weeks I'm not sure but either way either way nerve is something that's a little more unpredictable because it has to kind of regenerate on its own and usually does but it's not something that a doctor is going to tell you yeah in three weeks you'll be good to go it could take six weeks um but hopefully listen he there was a lot of hype when we drafted him with what was that our fourth round pick people talking about he was one of the best linebackers in the whole draft so um but the fact that we traded for Ernest Jones we traded for a linebacker today kind of tells you maybe he's not ready yet and they're going to really take it easy with him if they think he could be someone who could be here for the next three four years but we'll see you know yeah you got anything else Vin I think we touched on a lot of things man I mean we got a we got a lot of listeners on uh X right now or Twitter whatever you want to call it so appreciate every single one of you guys uh listening and tuning in on there and especially on YouTube the comments are flowing uh appreciate all you guys and you know appreciate you guys listening to the show I mean we're looking forward to coming down to Nashville week to and actually sitting down and shaking everybody's hand because you know some people may have different opinions on us but once you guys see us in person I mean we are literally um sami's telling us don't forget the schedule Oh yes we got to talk about our schedule coming up in the off season but everyone's going to love us you know we are three uh stoes from New Jersey and we're all Titan fans we treat each other like brothers and we can't wait to get down there you want to buy a Drake as s he's got the most money out of all you know my Jared's got three kids I got one on the way actually actually I have two kids one on the way and S Jarrett's got four kids no don't say that he's got got three and s as well no but we're looking forward to meeting everyone we sure are a lot of fun on the show and then in together with especially with some um adult drinks mixed in you know who knows what but might be flying out of our mouths that day so if for nothing else we are entertaining that is for sure so yeah throw that schedule up Sammy so we can tell people when they can expect to be hearing from us during the season um we're going to have a Titans talk on Wednesday nights kind of similar to what jar and I are doing tonight this week it's Tuesday obviously but during the season we will probably do it on Wednesdays with a game preview coming on Friday where we're review more or less our opponent talk about what we can look for in certain matchups game picks as well yeah game picks um as well um and then the post game obviously to get that raw reaction to um you know how we do each week I think that is uh my favorite part because it's we jump right on there and we tell it how it is and um yeah so look forward to US during the season Wednesdays Fridays and Sundays after the game hopefully all three of us can get on there every week but you can at least expect two of us to be on there probably me and whichever one of these Hogans wants to join yeah okay you know we're going to be live uh all season long man I mean I love doing this stuff with you guys and uh especially with a sick podcast team I mean the whole the whole the
