through the tea the glory of the checkerboard End Zone and the Big Orange ready to do battle today we have one of those games that test your focus top 25 team against an unranked opponent can you take care of business as we'll see a team looking for its first win the pandas taking on the winners of three straight the Tennessee Volunteers here for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth by David poock and Jesse Palmer and guys let's get this thing [Applause] started and the pandas will put total leather and will'll get started and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out here's this offense with a fresh set of downs going up top on first down buys a little time with his feet trying to make magic on the scramble welcome to the frustrating reality of college football like the guy at the quarterback spot he can just do that pull it down get positive yards makes the defense have to account for him every single play he wants to pass it on second down he's going to let one fly down the middle and it's incomplete after taking a shot on second down they're staring at third trying to pick up a first down wide receiver now comes in motion on Third and short the run and looking for the first down brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down it's a really good sign if you're on offense you're putting it on your offensive line on third down critical down and distance opening drive of the game let those guys fire off get a hat on a hat you can run the ball pick up the first you're around Midfield and all things looking pretty good here early for this offense quarterback moving out of the pocket nice run there picked up a two no force him out of bounds and I think this is important for this defense this will be a big key in the football game like I got to limit the damage from that guy cuz that that's a QB that's Dynamic and he can make so many big plays I got to string him out I got to make him get to the sideline but I will say this I do want to hit him at the end of the run I don't want to let him out of bounds and let him get free carries I want it to be physical well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding completion it's not a and they got him for the sack that Defender was not fooled At All by the play action he never thought the offense was running the football he had his ears pinned back used his speed to get to the QB fires to the big F and the defense settled in to stop that one for a short gain I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of bad tackling you didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tack fires into traffic intercepted taking it the other way running inside the 20 touchdown pandas the defense puts six on the board with a big time interception return what a play by the defense coming out early in the game on the very first drive in setting the tone not just forcing a three and out not just forcing a punt how about creating a turnover and taking it to the house pick six he'll try to add another to their lead and the extra Point makes it seven nothing they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six on the move from inside is five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 the volunteer offense is back and they hope it's touchdown time in Tennessee the big thing now don't get rattled by that last last pick six David nice and the pressure gets there and down he goes at the 18 playaction pass success has a lot to do with selling that fake you could tell defense was not buying it got in the back field got the big play tripped up for the tackle man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out offense had an empty set takes it from the gun on third down fires to the wide out grabbed in the middle it's Hill running wide open Down the Gun of the field touchdown ball and once he found open space the band might as well start playing well this offense is top 10 in the country in points per game because they've got aot lot of speed and they've got home run hitters they score fast they don't need 10 plays to go down the field you saw it right there they've recruited well they've got Playmakers they're going to be a problem for defenses all year long they'll try to attack one more on their score bangs it through for an extra point quick strike offense on that three-play scoring drive and they find P ER from way out covering 69 yds on the touchdown pass and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return the pandas offense taking the field first chance we have to see them today here are our impact players for this game and it goes beyond executing an assignment to make an impact in the game yeah obviously we were talking to both coaching staffs this week and we asked them who needs to step up and play while they immediately pointed to these guys right here they are the key for their respective teams yeah and they don't always show up in the Box Score but these are the guys are the leaders these are the guys getting everybody organized and have to play well for their team to succeed didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 he's looking to throw the quick out and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play one of the most difficult things about this slot receiver is his shiftiness and his athleticism he's very very difficult to tackle after the catch on third down he drops the throw reels it in on the left side and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 man this offense is so dangerous ree they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its heels he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get downfield he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting a first down and he's swallowed up at the line of scrimmage by the big defensive tackle great team defense on that run play everybody doing their job people winning their one-on ones D linemen staying in their gaps linebackers and these fing you just can't do it better and a decent gain there before the defense makes the stop third down in this crowd is tearing the lid off this place from the gun wants to pass takes a hit as he fires it's complete and he was pushing for that goal line but the D stopped him at the two really nice job there of the quarterback reading coverage he knew exactly where to go with the football and at what exact time timing could not have been better they get the completion on third down setting up first and goal he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well just nothing doing on that last run and they knew coming into this one they were going to be challenged right this is one of the best defenses in all of college football for them to have any shot they're going to have to do a lot better running first after getting knocked back it's second and goal from the four they'll go to the fullback they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one defense becomes even more heightened in this area of the field you get the short yard situations the goal to go situations I got to be dialed in that's two big stops in a row by this defense forcing a third and goal putting some pressure now on this offense lost to throw for it on Third and goal now he's going to Glide away from pressure he was thinking touchdown on the scramble but they're able to stop him short of the end zone and on fourth down they'll try to salvage the drive with a field goal this is a short kick but the problem is the angle no good after that failed field goal with Tim Spas still tie ball game well that's one the kicker would like to have back that's a kick he should be making in his [Applause] [Applause] sleeve Tennessee ready to go to work the Big Orange offense on the field Jesse looking to take it down the field for backto back touchdowns I think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep this defense guessing call yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place they'll throw again after the incompletion get it out on the screen he's right out of bounds but a big play on that one and it'll be a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs give to the running back an excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter easy wants to throw on first down fires toward the end zone and that falls incomplete as they tried to wrap up the first quarter with a bang but the incomplete pass takes us to the second quarter absolutely nothing settled deadlocked after one period of play as we have a look at the stats they fought to a stand still in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second will start the quarter offense about to snap it on second second down going with the counter play here a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior oh man there's some big hitting going on in the trenches right now this defense they take a lot of pride in stopping the Run let's keep our eye on them throughout the course of the game and see if they can contain this running attack really nice job to convert that third down and they've got it at the 33 wow and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable a Shot For The End Zone and it's caught touchdown volunteers and really nice job attacking the middle of the field you see those safeties man I want to split them he splits it right down the middle throws that post right on the numbers catches the ball in the end zone touchdown [Applause] now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven so it's an 80 yd drive and they finish things off with a score scoring toss from the 33 he'll bring it back from inside his spot nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 so we'll see the offense on the field to start this drive he'll try to pop the draw and how about that interior defense stuffing the run for nothing how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions slams into the pile he'll get one to the 17 better find the earplugged here here comes the noise backing this defense on third down from the gun wants to pass lost one deep down the right side he's got it downfield for a huge game touchdown pandas made the grab and finish the deal in the end zone you know often times in college football the best offenses are the ones that can create explosive plays just like you saw right there they're top 10 in the nation and points per game because they don't have to drive the field they've got dudes scattered all over this offense that can take it the distance on any given play he'll try to tack on one more splits those up right right in half and for a quick update let's go to Kevin Conor in the studio top 15 teams colliding today with major ramifications across the college football landscape North Texas has some work to do there's no other way to put it but the Mantra of this program is hard hats hard work and if they can chip away here they may be able to pull this out it's just a field goal game they're trailing by three to Kentucky we promise to keep you posted on what goes down in this exciting college football matchup oh and how about that I know Kevin and those guys will be keeping an eye on it for us this offensive line has just been unable to keep them away from the quarterback now it's second and long and that's not the way they drew it up it's incomplete that's a throw the QB would like to have back he just has to do a better job giving his receiver a chance to make the catch you make up sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 he lost one down the sideline and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch you've got to be able to make that play the volunteers will try to pin them back with the punt three and out they got stuck in Reverse they hope the punt can bail them out boy that seemed to be prime return territory instead he'll make the fair Catch and the offense out on the field to go back to work how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense almost a d lineman's dream but he couldn't hang on it'll be third down they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one third and long and he'll try to throw for it grabbed over the middle it's Peterson he almost picked up the first down on that one but he'll be just a little bit short and now on fourth down they'll try a field goal looks as if this will be a 51 yd attempt no good and here in the second quarter we remain all noted up [Applause] [Applause] the volunteer offense is back and they hope it's touchdown time in Tennessee boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this and a really good job by the qu back being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive game I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times [Applause] today here comes the offense on First and 10 from the 47 back to the ground game on the left and he a nyd gain on first down leaves him with second and short coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that on the move it's Ramsey they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and that's a great play by the defensive end the best athletes on the field play defensive end you can ask anybody yes I agree Jesse ree see they agree with me same thing but you watch get off the football make the play that's why you put your athletes there quarterback stands alone all wide receivers wants to throw on third down got his man downfield and he slipped through the crowd and he'll house it touchdown Tennessee this offense is so good man they can hurt you in so many different ways and they do it so quick Qui so explosive they can put small Drives together big Drives together they've really had a great year and that's why they're a top 10 offense on to attempt the try and the extra point it is true and they're on top by seven quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the points come on a pass from 39 yds out about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown here he comes from inside his own Drive really disciplined job by the coverage unit to got down there and make the stop at the 19 looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out this drive will start from the 19 yd line looking to go up top on first down catch in the middle it's Jeffrey that play was designed to go to the running back they were hoping they were going to get man coverage and oneon-one that pack is going to win that match up every single time feeling some heat and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 and it's such an advantage for this defense to have an outside linebacker like that that can rush the passer because they can set the edge they can get off the ball and they're just way too fast for tight ends or for offensive tackles to get out and block them not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long back up inside their 20 to the ground with the back and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop referee signals timeout it's the defense wanting to make sure that they have everything just right with a big play coming the pandas decide to punt it away they'll have to punt for the first time this afternoon he'll aim it toward the sideline to try to make it tough on the return team on first down here comes this offense he Wast no time and comes out throw it blasted as he lets it go hit hard just as he released it on first down and just couldn't get it to the receiver they'll spread the defense out going five wide on second and 10 get he's looking to throw coming after him and that pressure just engulfed him a sack for this defense sometimes you beat your guy and you get sacked so clean and sometimes like on this play the DBS do a great job covering make the QB hold the football and then the rush gets home and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down there's just not a lot of great play calls guys for third in California so you hand it off you try to get some of that yardage back and see what happens next looking for a block it's wat coverage team was down there to corralling they made the Stop and they'll mark it at the 39 line gets set first down he'll start this drive firing quarterback extends the play and he gets out of there and gets some yardage and gets down without taking any punishment there's a timeout called as this offense tries to find a way to draw a little closer now they'll line it up from the 44 on First and 10 he wants to throw and just not enough field to hold that one it's incomplete long incompletions okay we got to take shots you got to make big plays in college football I love that you're taking shots keep taking them some of those are going to come home some of them AR but when they come home they equal Big Time [Applause] points and they needed a little more room to work with as that one sails out of bounds and how nice is it to have the home crowd going absolutely bananas communication is harder the snapping the football everybody being on time man this crowd really affecting the football game and it's third down but they're taking no chances they'll send the field goal unit out before halftime somebody better check that dude's foot and see if it's juice man oh man from outside 60 he sails it through now look you don't see kickers on highlight tapes too often that 61 yd field goal is going to make every highlight real in the country wow so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer he'll start the return inside his SP coverage team there to make the stop they avoid disaster and that's the end of the first half that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update guys you've been calling a great one today in Knoxville so far the pass game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the Deep ball all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime with that said let's send it back to the guys at nean stadium and the vs will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half and they thought about a return Then thought better of it they'll bring it out to the 25 the drive starts from their own 25 yd line off the play fake on first down trying to make magic with his feet and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding Hey listen it's important at that position to be able to be good off schedule everything's easy when it's on time you get the ball out but when things break down and they get off schedule you've got to have a guy back there that can make the right decisions he did exactly that and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab yeah and get the ball to your playmaker what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not as fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or sa well they rep this play every day in practice what 50 times simple hitch route quarterback puts it right on receivers just got to finish the play out of the gun the running back has it and maybe he'll get back to the line of scrimmage but no more than that man oh man the ball carrier was just shut down and I tell you what they get some push up front too right they got to move those defensive linemen out of the way at least create a hole so your running back has a chance not there he didn't have any trying to move the sticks on third down through the air let me tell you this senior quarterback can flat fit it in a tight window and the pandas are on the Move leaves it with the back nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry and yeah that's kind of surprising and we talked about this before the game one of the big matchups run the football against a defense that's been susceptible against the Run throughout the season but this offense just can't find a way to get it going and I'm surprised but now what's your counter page how are you going to get the ground game going cuz so far not a lot of success tackled immediately after the catch oo and that was close for the offense they try to go wide receiver screen they're counting on that receiver beating that Defender wasn't able to make a miss that time but if I'm on offense I'm going back to that play later and it's incomplete on third down the pandas will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and he'd H to pin him deep instead it will be a Touchback the offense lining up for a first down play he's going to pass they're bringing Heat and the defense makes a play sacking him back at the 10 and I think this team knew going into halftime trailing their defense was going to have to step up here in the second half and on the very first play of the third quarter they get a sack that is good news for this defense they bring him down but a solid pick up to put them in position to pick up a first down this defense is going to have to be careful not only they have to worry about this guy running the football but they've got to keep their eye on him when he runs routes too he is a versatile back he looks that one in nicely solid work and execution there they'll have a first down as they mark it at the 40 Man Down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out and the volunteers will snap it on First and 10 leaves it with the running back and he'll find enough Running Room to get it just short of Midfield at the 49 you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense on second down looking to throw oh he's going to try to hit him deep and that's going to be incomplete going for broke on second down but third Down's coming up trying to pick up a first down DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to SWOT it away pass incomplete just a Savvy veteran productive run from this junior man who says you can't run up the middle anymore right everybody thinks I got to make big plays I got to go way out to the left way out to the right way out in space nope right down the middle nice blocking how about the running back you could tell the speed the wheels does a great job getting down the field making a huge rushing play that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the [Applause] stop they've moved it into scoring territory first and 10 from the 11 movement here from the tight end off the play fake on first down wants to throw fires to the end zone can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line oh and the QB so lucky that that one wasn't picked off these are small Windows to throw into down here in the red zone defense tipped it up in the air lot of Defenders lurking around lucky that ball hit the ground oh the balls out defense just cradling that fumble and securing it and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own man the coach is going to absolutely give him an earful you have to understand the situation in the game I got a chance to go up by two scores we're winning the football game ball security I can't reach that thing I got to cover it with two hands and make sure I don't turn it over what a big time mistake out of the gun the in side get didn't find much room he'll pick up a couple out to the five that's a really good job by the defense wrapping him up getting him on the ground take away that run game make him one dimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense he leaves it with the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one man it's been a surprise today for this offense like coming into the game we all talked about it we thought they'd be able to run against this defense that's been run on a lot and this offense just can't get the running game going be intered to see what they do to try to change it up but somehow someway they need that physical ground game he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple this has got to be disappointing if you're the offense guys you were expecting to have a lot of success running the ball especially against this defense which has struggled so much this season but just nothing doing they have not been good enough in the trenches so far sometimes avoiding dis Master is the best thing the punter just gets it out of there that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense Tennessee ready to go to work the Big Orange offense on the field they'll ride the running back and leave it with him and he's able to shed one tackle and pick up pretty good yardage I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points looking to pass on second down he spins that thing down the middle and he'll run it into the end zone touchdown ball is there anything this dude can't do he's channeling his inner conridge Holloway Heath Scher or dare I say the great pton Manning I bet he can't leave the bandies I bet he's not allowed to do that he's having himself a day but he's not there yet but man putting up some stats doing what he wants this offense is absolutely cooking lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead we check in with Kevin Connors what's going on Kevin all right guys a little update on what else is happening in college football this weekend Oklahoma is lighting up the scoreboard right now thanks to a dazzling offensive display they're up by 32 over Vanderbilt we'll Circle back if anything big happens in this college football matchup and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a lot Lo of three I got to be honest I am shocked with just how well the defense has played in this game especially stopping the Run we talked about statistically how they've struggled this season but they have put the clamps down in this one and they're just playing with a ton of intensity stopped after making the catch well the drag routes put in this Playbook to fight against man-to-man coverage so there you see the receiver using his speed working his way across the field he get separation on the DB trying to Trail him makes the catch turns up field for the first looking to throw it's wits complete downfield open Runway ahead pass to 10 touchdown pandas he broke away from the defense and they couldn't catch him and this receiver is on fire he's got all the skills that you look for and a big time Target and that's already his second touchdown of the game they'll try to get the two-point conversion here and make it a three-point game here's the snap looking to throw he's got it and he got a foot down for the two-point conversion quick stri offense on that three-play scoring drive and they get it done with a big play a 76 Y for the score from inside the 10 here he comes nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the volunteer offense is back and they hope it's touchdown time in Tennessee David they love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was click everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their heels there to make the tackle and with that we'll head to the fourth quarter looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out that's the end of the quarter and Tennessee has the lead lead they're sitting in a strong position here with the lead let's take a look at our game summary one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory back at it to open the quarter with this first down Play Quick Release by the QB and good coverage by the defense just a short game I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five and it is when we start getting those long yardage situations they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your play maker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game they convert on third down as he gets it to the 46 yd line well the defense didn't Blitz they didn't have everybody in gaps and the offensive line took advantage at the point of attack getting some push opening up a hole and the offense ripping off a nice run there HS and fires complete he is stopped behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one we're trying to throw the screen out to the receiver the defense though having none of that they are just too physical they're too fast they force a negative play got room at the 35 what a play there and he's got it all the way down to the seven yd line you're going to win a lot of games if you can generate explosive plays that's what we've seen in recent weeks from this football team but this offense man they are every defensive coordinator's nightmare because of the players they've got lining up all over defense trying to keep this offense from getting a line on who to block you already have the lead scoring is always good but milk the clock and it will be your friend they'll run it on first and goal and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown volunteers and you know late in the games offenses sometimes get conservative when they got the lead and they got the ball I love this offense they were aggressive they got another score added to the lead now you're trying to Salt this game [Applause] away they'll try to add another to their lead and and the extra point extends the lead to double figures at 10 so it's a 77 yd touchdown drive and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to C it on the run from inside zone five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 ready to fire from the pistol he'll come out throwing on first down got it in the middle it's Norman and he laid the lumber to stop him from getting the first down they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here late wants to fire on second down and he can't connect on the throw it's incomplete Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to to get off the field on third down they'll try to get the first through the air he took a hit as he threw it and couldn't deliver the football it's incomplete and fourth Down's coming after that incompletion fourth and short now in their own side of the field I think there's a lot of coaches in normal circumstances that would stay conservative and just punt the ball away but you're trailing here in the fourth quarter I think the offense needs to stay out on the field we and he sacked a big play on fourth down to stop this drive and That Just About Does it that about puts this thing to bed the offense listen they had to they had to go for it but now defense this is the situation when you say I'm just going to eat clock up by several possessions eat clock get out of here with a W they'll try to keep this clock moving on the ground and he'll step into the end zone touchdown Tennessee with that the lead nice and comfortable and they're cruising toward a 4-0 start with that last touchdown looks like they're going to start this season 4-0 and you've got to be impressed with what you've seen so far from this team we knew coming in on paper this team had a chance this season but until the lights go on until you actually go out and do it for real you can't believe just how good they are but they've shown now starting 4-0 on the Year this is a team that's going to contend for a national championship and that extra point is a big one as they now have a thre possession 17-point lead in the fourth lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive and he takes this from inside the five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 now this offense is back on the field dropping back it's Wicks he's taking the deep shot and that one Falls incomplete they tried to go over the top on first down second down coming up well they take a shot down the field it's another incompletion it's really been that kind of story this defense has made this guy earn it every single play really small Windows to throw into one touchdown pass that's a little bit surprising you thought maybe they'd have more in this game caught over the middle it's Sheffield quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute possible yeah and you see the wide receiver he's got a push up field make it look like he's going deep but does a really good job sitting down on that curl catching the ball and then as soon as you catch that thing on that curl route get up field get positive yards nice route by that wide receiver he's brought down solid pick up but a little bit short of the first [Applause] down back through the air one more time miss receiver there it's incomplete it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one and it's a first down they'll mark it at the 44 everybody has to be set they have to get it off now on second down he's looking to throw pressure coming under heat and he gets rid of it that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble and the quarterback gets hit again we already know this defense has gotten home to him multiple times in this game so here you are you're trailing in the game defense knows you're going to throw it they're pinning their ears back you can't feel very confident right now if you're the play caller and certainly if you're the quarterback that you're going to have time to throw oh they really could have used that catch there physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage he wants a big play here late picked off looking for more room he's inside the 40 and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position and how about that that's the first int for this guy like he's gone all throughout this year taking care of the football making plays really really building trust with his offensive coordinator first mistake put Hey listen put it behind you you've had a great season so far young man Tennessee ready to go to work the Big Orange offense on the field firmly in control of this game we'll see if they just try to run out the clock and get out with the victory everybody on offense here should feel really good about their performance today too David they had a really good game plan coming into this one they went out and they executed at a very high level yeah lights out and this game's over interested to see the philosophy now do we keep chucking the pill and keep trying to score points cuz it's the defense's responsibility to stop or do they just run this clock and say all right we did enough today we kick them in the face winning those individual 6C battles every Play Time After Time After Time After Time and that leads to a victory here and I love when teams go out and play like it's sudden death like if they lose the game their entire season is over this game wasn't for the national championship but wouldn't you wouldn't know that watching this winning team David tremendous effort and tremendous execution I love competitive people I love competitive coaches I love competitive teams that they know that their job is to go out and get a w no matter how no matter where you play you want to play
