EVACUATIONS ARE UNDERWAY FOR PEOPLE IN VERDE BECAUSE OF THIS GOLD RANCH FIRE THAT BROKE OUT LAST NIGHT. >>FOX ELEVEN'S ELIZABETH MITCHELL NOW JOINS US LIVE FROM ALONG INTERSTATE 80 WITH THE VERY LATEST FOR US. GOOD MORNING ELIZABETH. >>GOOD MORNING CHRIS. WE JUST LEARNED JUST A COUPLE OF MINUTES AGO THAT THIS FIRE, THE GOLD RANCH FIRE, DID DESTROY ONE HOUSE IN THE VERDE AREA. AND AS OF THIS MORNING, IT HAS GROWN TO 400 ACRES. AND IT IS 0% CONTAINED. ACCORDING TO TRUCKEE MEADOWS FIRE AND RESCUE. THEY ALSO TELL US WITH THE SUN COMING UP THIS MORNING, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GET A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT THIS FIRE DID OVERNIGHT. BUT I AM GOING TO TAKE YOU TO A LIVE LOOK OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE RIGHT NOW. JUST A SUPER SMOKY AND HAZY MORNING. ALL OF THE SMOKE JUST BEING PUSHED RIGHT TO THE RENO-SPARKS AREA. THIS DID BREAK OUT AT 630 LAST NIGHT, AND THAT WAS DUE TO A CAR CATCHING ON FIRE ALONG EASTBOUND I-80. IT CAUGHT FIRE AND QUICKLY SPREAD TO VEGETATION AROUND IT, AND IT JUST WENT. IT WENT QUICKLY. IT GREW TO 400 ACRES AS OF LAST NIGHT. THAT WAS AROUND 8:00 LAST NIGHT THAT WE GOT THAT UPDATE. THE WASHOE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ALSO CANCELING SCHOOL FOR VERDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL THIS MORNING DUE TO THE POWER OUTAGE IN THE AREA OF 6200 PEOPLE IN THE VERDE AREA, WOKE UP WITHOUT POWER THIS MORNING. YESTERDAY THERE WAS 26,000 PEOPLE IN WASHOE COUNTY IN VERDE THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THIS AND IMPACTED BY THIS POWER OUTAGE THAT WAS OCCURRING. BUT 20,000 PEOPLE WOKE UP TO POWER THIS MORNING AFTER IT WAS RESTORED, BUT AGAIN AT 6200 PEOPLE HERE IN VERDE ARE WITHOUT POWER THIS MORNING. THIS IS ALL THE INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE AS OF RIGHT NOW, 400 ACRES, 0% CONTAINED. AND THERE WAS ONE HOUSE THAT WAS BURNT DOWN IN THE GOLD RANCH FIRE.
