Wednesday Night Dash iRacing Xfinity Series – Darlington Raceway (2 of 10)

e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e [Music] w hello I'm doing pretty good I'm excited for this race yeah we're having a bit of technical difficulties here to begin the uh the broadcast as we can't actually see qualifying but Hunter Hughes currently in the lead as since we cannot see that take a look at the standings after race one last week from where was race one Richmond I believe or race one from Kansas dos Buchanan with the win currently leading the standings uh Hunter Hughes finishing second Colton Garner third Jack men fourth um tied with Kaden mccre Jr with 33 points in sixth is John Miles seventh Jeremiah Lockwood eighth Brian mckin Garrett Jarnigan nine and Bill muffi in 10th uh after week one uh from Kansas Hunter Hughes still with the lead in qualifying Colton Gardner in second hopefully we can get this figured out for the race and actually watch it because I don't know what is happening there a minute here left in qualifying Hunter Hughes still with the lead with a 29789 looks like he'll most likely be starting full position as we have I believe 20 cars here tonight which is two less than what we had last week uh here for the second race in the Infinity cars ever for this series also a quick note in which we don't have the graphic worked out for at the moment for tallad Dean next week we take a look at the schedule uh we will be changing the rules slightly so that you will have one fast repair and there will be no stage break instead fastest lap will be awarded the stage point that will no longer be given out and it will be full course yellows instead of the stage break this qualifying is over so let's take a look at our starting lineup here for tonight's race Hunter Hughes in pole position with a 29789 in second is Colton Garner followed by dolanan in third Toby Wedgewood fourth lane snow fifth Garrett jigan six Dylan Baron seven Brian mckin and eight uh Jax me ninth Eric Richardson 10 Christopher fuge 11 Vinnie Silva 12 Kaden mccre Junior 13 John Miles 14 DJ fluck 15 Nicholas War boy 16 porbin coock 17 Jeremy Clemens 18 I must have joined as a driver and that's why we couldn't watch qualifying and then Richard Shaw ring up the field in 19 cars are getting ready here to pull off and begin a pace lap let's take a quick recap of the rules it's a 10 Race season races are run approximately 45 minutes with a competition caution or stage break at 50% distance and there's no stage breaks on the road courses and the competition caution is the only caution um with the exception of large scale rcks or next week at Talladega and we use a NASCAR SLE point system uh with a bonus point for pull position lap left and most laps lead and a stage one roval or fastest lap on road courses take a look at the session info for Darlington it's located in Concord North Carolina open in 1950 about 1.4 miles in length and as always 40 minute practice 5 minute or two laap qual 70 lap or uh 40 5 minute race and a competition caution tonight on lap 30 the cars start pulling off which one of our drivers here into the broadcast boo with us take one last look at the standings here before we get started let's talk with Colton Colton you you got me yes sir all right colon and getting ready uh to get going here what is your I guess kind of what is your goal tonight how are you going to try and come away with a win here H well the goal is the win but more importantly it's going to be the safe tires really try and keep the tires under me so I can be fast at the end of the long run all right uh yeah sorry I took you so late there I was trying to get something figured out anyways good luck tonight all good have a good broadcast good luck thank you there was Colton Garner and as I said to him sorry for the short notice with col which team are you on SMR all right sorry as the pace car is off we're ready to go green here coming to the start finish green flag is in the air for 70 laps here at Darlington it's Hunter Hughes in a purple number 18 car getting a good jump there off the line into the turn one Gardner will fall behind in second and be Canon behind both of them in third it'll be interesting to see what lines these cars run around the track you see Hughes in the purple twitch delivery here tonight as we actually got our trading paints working for the broadcast [Music] that take a look here at the pain of the number three car yeah there it is actually is on tonight as there's number three that's Kaden MC Jr and [Music] 13 come back to Hunter fuse here with the race lead and pulling away for now about half a second Colton Gardner right behind and you Canon right on his bumper Colton Gardner just ran the fastest lap of the race closing the scap down to Hunter Hughes here we take a look at the Battle for nth that's Jack Main and the number nine this Brian McKinny the number eight car has the old Darlington stripe lose him some time and I'll have Vinnie SOA a catch up try and put himself into the top 10 currently Vinnie Silva currently running 11th this refuge in the 68 uh ended up pits here for whatever reason uh did not catch what happened to him there's DJ fluck in the 88 racing as I believe he actually finished I think they in the top five in the Indie racing World Series which if you didn't not know you can go watch on Tuesday nights here at Stadium scene TV with Ken flag oh we got a contact there little car around the wall it's like two or three cars involved let's try and get a replay this the number two looks like he just got up into the wall that's the number two car of Richard Shaw and then coming back down into the 55 taking both of them out nothing you can do there if you're the 55 car is just bad Lu yeah nothing for the 55 to do there as we do have a battle here for a second that's D be Canon and the number four making a pass on Colton Garner take away that second spot Hunter fuse continuing to build his Gap as before that wreck um taking a look at the schedule for the Indie racing World Series as I said Tuesday nights here on Stadium scene TV at about 10:17 p.m. Eastern time our next race is this upcoming Tuesday at Michigan for 125 laps Cannon starting to close the gap here on the leader really was for a little bit gap's kind of staying the same maybe coming down a little bit we have 20 laps to go in stage one there's the 55 car with of Corbin Cox we had that wreck earlier moving down Track Way of the Front Runners as bu Canon closed as closed the gap about 3 T of a second it's now down to 4/10 just 20 laps to go on the stage you have to be careful not burn up your tires too quick here you can burn them up and very quickly you're not careful thank you there uh angre it's very appreciated especially for viewers that are not uh very IND NASCAR take a car under the wall they're in the back of a little bit farther back here this is the number five of lane snow and that's for Fifth Place Lane snow currently in the six spot actually Dylan Baron's behind um or sorry Dylan Baron is ahead of him in the fifth spot then Lan snow is in the number five in sixth with a 32 behind him for p7 into the wall there is the number five of lane snow still able to maintain six he's going to big run oh into the wall again again two cars oh his car is total almost oh that's going to put him way back here y that'll put jack Mar into the six spot and uh Garrett jigan into the top five we got another car on the wall back there yeah there's the number nine that's ja M he's also got significant damage to the front and right there you can see Lane Snow's damage uh in his contact with the wall there's the number eight of ran mckin in sixth as we take a look back at our battle for the lead here here Hunter Hughes has led the first 16 laps so far the first half of stage number one Canon closes the Gap by about 710 from what it was at about the longest part looking to take the lead away from Hunter Hughes for the first time right here's VI Canon looking for a run can't really do anything with it yet we headed to one and two still maintaining about half a car length here for the lead back off a little bit in the three and four [Music] [Music] [Music] you have the Run here as to go high do anything he'll look low into three five's in there they make a little bit of contact there's Canon almost sliding around a little bit looking for the lead that's going to drop him back about a second [Music] that's going to put straight the wall yeah that's going to put Hughes with about seven t0 six or S tense the lead with seven laps to go L be Canon still closing the Gap once again y now about 310 he definitely has the quicker car right now yeah he's right back up to the bumper of him up to five laps to go on the stage m is going to try it again [Music] able to catch him quite easily and just cannot make the pass on him yeah now he's going to look to the inside there we go again that time he might have it little loose yeah he got loose out of the corner he's going to pull back ahead UK Canon's going to look to the inside again again he can't do anything and make it thck he with a better run off the corner as we got just three laps to go in stage one Hunter Hughes has lit every lap to this point buchanon's gotten close but unable to make anything happen there just not enough grip on that bottom Lane to make it stick [Music] there gets right up to him again make a little bit of contact contact there yeah CH this run the perfect line just not wouldn't be can to get to the inside or outside of [Music] them up to one lap to go in the stage ctions out cautions out Hunter Hughes will win uh stage one B you Canon caught him bunch of times there but wasn't able racing there to the end take a look at our results from stage one uh Hunter Hughes coming away with the stage win Buchanan finishing second Colton Garner in third Toby Wedgwood fourth Brian mckenny in fifth Garrett johnigan sixth Eric Richardson seventh Jax m in eighth Nicholas woy n k m Jr ring out the top 10 uh John miles in 11 DJ fluck 12 Jeremy Clemens in 13 Vinnie Silva 14 Corbin Cox 15 Richard Shaw 16 lane snow 17 Dyan Baron 18 and Christal Refuge uh finishing in 19th as we head into the pits here L Buchanon definitely looking for a good Pit Stop see if he can come out ahead of Hunter Hughes just was not able to make the pass that there near the end of that stage he was so much faster him until he still couldn't get around [Music] our Hughes in the 18 going to still able to come back out in first uh Buchanan coming out in second and Garner back in third so the top three stay the same out of the pits from what they were in stage one [Music] [Music] so let's hear from one of our drivers here as we get ready to go back racing for stage two walk here with Hunter Hughes hey Hunter you got us yeah I got you all right Hunter congrats on the stage win there um what are you looking to do here in stage two to stay in first and come away here with the win just hold off Dawson he was he's really really quick um I think I burnt my stuff off a little early there in the first half so we're going to try and keep it a little calm in the beginning um and we'll just see what happens all right Hunter thank you and uh good luck here for the rest of the race good luck you there was Hunter huge your stage winner uh from stage one as the lights on the pace car are out and we get ready to go back to racing here for about 35 more laps base car's off we ready to go [Music] back green flag back in the air really good jump there by Hunter Hughes and the number 40 of Colton Gardner colner can clear you Canon turn one here he does Hugh staying in the lead Colton Gardner quickly taking away second there on the inside of the four D Buchanan Buchanan's going to look back to the inside here coming into turn number three this is basically oh big wiggle there out of four those are side by side heading across the start finish cuz this is about what we saw with uh that battle for the lead dos Cannon trying on the inside and just couldn't stick it [Music] yep Hunter Hughes definitely wants to see those two behind batt though he can lay off a bit save some Tire of her later in the Run be Cannon's going to have to fall back here behind Gardner uh that's for third just un able to make that ass stick on the inside G putting some pressure on Hughes now top three really tight pretty good run here by the fourth buan is going to look back to the inside coming into [Music] three keeps burning up his tires here trying to make this pass and it's doesn't seem to be working for him as actually this time he's got a much better run out of the corner yeah Y and he'll clear there in a turn two that's for second so be can and finally able to make a pass work big run on the now got a big run here only 18 100 f for the race lead H's still with the lead mu Canon on a car length behind with 30 laps to go on this race take a look back here at p7 there is uh Nicholas War boy and in our driver survey he was asked why he chose car number 27 it's because his birthday is on the 27th and for living he's a factory worker and his proudest iRacing moment is finally getting a win at Daytona and his favorite series to watch is NASCAR I don't know what is happening right now with the broadcast seems like we're good now I have no idea what this happen and technical difficulties yeah I don't know what it's going on tonight but Hunter Hughes and uh dos be Cannon still really tight here for the race lead [Music] that's be so frustrating for if you can just to sit there and just he cannot make that pass heuse maintaining around the same Gap here uh if you can and maybe pulling away by a little bit not much Canon with a big run here he's going to look back to the inside for the lead this is exactly what we saw at the end of stage two or at the end of stage one he side by side coming across one here it's going to get tight he gets really tight he's going to have to check up in front of the number 40 of Colton Gardner as he's top three all within two10 he's got a big run here in a turn three can he clear him here can't clear him you can't quite clear him Hunter Hughes with a much better run out of the corner so does the 40 of Colton Gardner he's taking a look back on the outside to get second back as they make contact the four and the 40 of Colton gner and Doss Buchanan Ohan squeezes him into the wall there able to clear uh to maintain second that's going to allow Hunter Hughes to pull away by about 610 through all that see if banon can reel him back in like he did in the first stage after he lost some time it's about half a second here with just 20 laps to go in the race ni Hunter Hugh still back in again yeah Hunter Hugh is L about every lap of this race up to this point loose off the corner there's Hunter Hughes is going to allow buan to get right back on is bumper again here comes with from another run and is going to back off Colton Garner is falling back about 410 behind you canon in third again with a bit of a run there still unable to make anything happen inside again he's going to look to the inside do it make contact again more contact you can stays alongside still can's going to have to check in behind him again so hard to pass here that's the second time he did it also in stage one where he's caught him cuz they do have a lap car here on the bottom that's DJ fluck oh contact again there almost spins him there's a 40th colon Garner he's going to take second back from dossa Buchanan make it stick Canon staying right there in his left rear now he's going to pull in behind him just 15 laps to go really good battle here between the top three got loose coming out of that corner there bit of a check up there by Gardner that's going to allow Hughes to pull away by a little bit more there's be Canon looking to the inside of Garner for second again and he'll be able to clear Garner looking back to the inside he just just doesn't have the run to take it back you can with a huge run side by side in the turn three this is the best chance he has yeah best chance he's had all race we see if he's finally able to clear they're side by side out of four h Hughes is going to pull back away more momentum on the high side watch this run the car gets run on the high side here can't make it stick out out of the corner V 18 gets a little loose in the middle of the corner there slides up up three separated by just two10 of a second is a four looking back to the inside they make contact againa down the straight it's about the fifth time they've made contact here in the stage I cannot believe they haven't wrecked yet don't forget to join Eric Richardson and DJ fluck on FR Racing's garage talk this week as they recap um on this week's episode as they break down last week's Wednesday night Dash season premiere Kansas and the challenges of racing in a larger field also penalties have been given out from last week's NASCAR race at Richmond download racings Nascar or download FR racings garage talk wherever you download your favorite podcast or tune in Saturday 2: p.m. Eastern right here on Stadium SC TV it's the 40 car not much of a run the four though buan he's got another run 100 we have 10 laps to go here oh as they make contact again but buan finally able to clear Hunter Hughes oh Hunter SL a bit of a slide be Canon for the first time today he's able to take the lead and he'll pull away by about a second after that pass on Hunter Hughes you can SL up the track there middle of the corner that was the difference there he didn't hold his line like he was before Oh 40 in the wall it's going to allow use to pull away a little bit you can pull one second lead second Canon after about 30 laps finally able to clear and take the leadway he's definitely the faster car he just wasn't able to make a pass but once he was able to clear Hunter Hughes Hughes got really loose there and just allowed UK Canon to drive away puts Gardner back to or keeps Gardner in third he was fighting there a few Canon got into the wall a little bit puts him about two seconds back from the lead so we do have a bit of a battle here between Toby Wedgewood and Garrett jigan for fifth it's a 52 of Wedgewood into the wall jigan looking high and he's also into the wall now well this battle for second is not quite over scarner closes the Gap little bit there about 3/10 of a second coming up to five laps to go Buchanon increases his lead to two seconds here he's really pulling away BR he's able to pull away with how many times he slid in that corner and make contact surpris his tires didn't wear out very surprising Garner here with a bit of a run on the 18 of Hughes that'll be for second place we still be Cannon Take the Lead away just a few laps to go huge run here from Colton Garner side by side once again that is for second left bit let him have it it looked like that's going to put Colton Gardner into second place as we still got a battle here for P5 uh jigan with about half a second lead over man who's in Sixth and that is Toby Wedgwood behind him in seventh just three laps to go so don't forget to uh sign up for F's endurance schedule as these are two events two weeks before um official races or sprint races uh or iRacing special events fun races 15-minute quality with a 45 minute race and the tuneup races have a 20 to 30 minute practice qualifying in a 1 and 1/2 hour Race So if you're looking for a tuneup before any iRacing special event on the roadside go sign up for that so we have just two laps to go for Dawson bu Canon as he is into the wall there a little bit the white flag in the air somehow able to pull away by five seconds I have no idea how he saved how he's that much Tire left but he's out of turn three or out of turn four across the start finish and Dawson be Cannon after one of the best battles we've seen here in the Wednesday night Dash able to come away with the win hter Hughes able to come away second as we take a look at the results here so Dawson Buchanan coming away with the win by about 5 and a half seconds over Hunter Hughes wow with a great battle there for about 30 laps going on between actually the top three of Buchanan Hughes and Colton Gardner and then finishing fourth was Brian mcken fifth is Garett jigan sixth Jax men seventh Toby Wedgwood e8th Eric Richardson ninth Nicholas warboy 10th Kaden mcre 11th is John Miles 12 is DJ flu 13 Vinnie Silva 14 Jeremy Clemens 15 Richard Shaw 16 is Corbin Cox 17 lane snow 18 Dylan Barons and 19 Runing up the field was Christopher fuge we'll be joined here shortly by the podium finishers for tonight that was a really good race yeah as we said one of the best races we've seen here in the W and I Dash wait here for these top three come join us so Colton Garner finishing third Colton you got us yeah Colton really really good battle there for between the top three the entire top three there for around 30 laps or so uh so you ended up coming away in third what do you think you could have done differently there to maybe come away with a win or even second uh I think I could have not got into my teammate off of four uh when we were all battling together that really messed us up and got Hunter loose and got us away from the wind tonight and as far as second place I just shouldn't have put it in the wall the way I did that really kill my momentum and uh yeah it made me end up P3 but it was a fun race all around good racing by Hunter and Dawson R you find battles like that but it is really cool to be able to do that tonight yeah really fun race there for us to watch and commentate here yes sir Andrew oh I was going to ask when uh you were sitting behind the two leaders there for a little bit you in third were you hoping they might have gotten together and might G you a little Pathway to the win there uh no not really because I want if I won a race I want to win it win it uh I don't want to win races whenever people are wrecked out or something and I just like to have a good old battle for a win when it comes down to it and unfortunately just came up short tonight but it is still a lot of fun yep congratulations thank you yeah thanks Colton congrats on the podium uh Hunter Hughes finishing in second Hunter you also really good battle there between the four and the 40 you led most the race what went wrong for you there at the end to uh that you gave up the lead uh just a little bit of everything um I I feel like Dawson pushed way harder early and I wasn't really ready for it so he kind of forced my hand there to run more aggressively than I wanted to early in the run and it kind of just set me up for failure late in the Run um bit of clean racing bit of dirty racing but I guess that's Darlington for you Andrew uh I was going to ask you were holding off pretty good there for a long time pretty much for about 15 laps to go uh do you think you could anything different to hold them off those lap last couple laps I mean maybe but getting near the end I basically was just take like trying to do anything I could to keep him behind me whether that's thring him down the straightaway or coming off the corner whatever I mean you got to do what you got to do to try and get to win and today we just came up a little bit short yep yeah nonetheless congrats on a second place finish yeah congrat and then Dawson mchanon coming away with the win there Dawson uh really really good battle there for like I said about 30 laps uh end of stage one you weren't able to make the pass what did you do differently there at the end of the race to be able to come away with the lead and ultimately the win uh you know I think that you know honestly at the end it you know it was a bunch of Tire saving I I feel like I did a pretty good job of of saving tires there at the end end and I had I just had a lot more left in my tank than what Hunter and Colton did and it it P it paid off you know well you know it's it's it was extremely hard to pass there at the end of stage one so I knew it would be about the same as in stage two so just trying to you know make him run a little harder you know at the start of the run and hopefully use up his stuff and then just trying to find you know any way around him because it was just so hard to pass but you overall a great day for the you know JM Motorsports M&M's uh Chevrolet so glad to take home another win uh first of all congrats on the win um I was just wondering for the first you know 50 60 laps this race you weren't able to get around uh the leader was there anything you changed later in the run that made you able to make that pass besides tiwar it was just you think it was the tiwar that was the most important thing uh no I didn't I don't think changed anything really you know I if anything I think that the second stage I probably ran a little bit harder at the start of the Run than what I should have I I think I could have saved a little bit more but I figured that I wanted to get by him as soon as possible and then then be able to hold him off but yeah just ultimately came down to Tire saving and trying to find a way by him but it was I mean it was super fun I that was probably the most fun that I've had with those those two guys in the last two seasons but yeah that was some good racing yeah congrats on the win like I said really fun for us to watch and commentate here and probably entertaining for everybody out there watching so come join us next week from Talladega on August 28th broadcast starting at about 10 o'clock 10 pm. Eastern Standard Time and we have Circ of the Americas uh the next week for week four so thank you everybody for tuning in tonight see a really good finish there between these top three and we'll see you next week from Taladega [Music]
