well this is kind of disheartening news although it's not at all unexpected there is a new Titanic photo showing major Decay to the legendary wreck this is via CNN as you can see here this is from the recent um Expedition non- manned Expedition ROV expedition to the wreck of the Titanic that happened um I think it was last month no we're in September now so July right uh this is by RMS Titanic Incorporated they went down with rovs there were no submersibles involved so as you can see here this is recent this is uh the famous bow of the Titanic with this section of railing has since fallen off and uh we're going to do a comparison here to other photos going back a while ago uh this is one of the 3D scans here let's see if it loads it's not loading there we go well we'll zoom in as you could see with the these scans here we'll zoom in forgive the image quality come on move over work with me here uh the railing was intact and uh it was starting to peel off and eventually come on it's fell off so so yeah this like I said it's not at all unexpected it's a shame um but let's read the article here in the years since the Titanic sank after hanging iceberg in 1912 we have been become familiar with the haunting images of the Doom passenger liners bow lying at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean Now new photos taken this summer show that The View has changed dramatically the latest Expedition by RMS Titanic Incorporated an American company with Salvage rights to the wreck has revealed that a sex of the previously intact railing around the front of the ship's Upper Deck has fallen off the 15t long section Now lies on the sea floor directly below where it once was we are saddened by this loss and the inevit inevitable decay of the ship and the debris the company said in a statement on its website here is uh a statue from the first class Lounge uh Titanic honor and Glory just uploaded a video about this today and I I haven't yet to watch it but I am familiar with this statue uh this bronze statue of the Goddess Diana once topped the fireplace of Titanic's first class Lounge over the course of the next few weeks and months we will conduct a more thorough review of Titanic's condition and her changes over time it continued so more info uh to be uh released although Titanic's collapse is inevitable this evidence strengthens our mission to preserve and document what we can before it is too late it adds the July Expedition the company's nth since its first visit the rec in 1987 involved ocean Imaging experts oceanographers scientists and historians working together to capture new images of the direct to review its condition identify artifacts and areas at risk and contribute to ongoing conservation efforts according to the company more than 2 million photos were taken and the team scheduled for uh as the team searched excuse me for numerous artifacts this search yielded an exciting discovery on the final day of the Expedition the team found found and photographed a twoot tall bronze statue of Diana the Roman goddess of nature and hunting the statue which once sat ATT tapped the fireplace mantle as the centerpiece of Titanic's first class Lounge was ripped away and thrown into the re debris field when the lounge tore open as the ship sank according to the company while the photo while the figure was photographed in an 86 Expedition its location remained unknown until this latest Expedition due to uh a tradition of secrecy surrounding the Titanic's wreck the company said much of the art that de uh decorated the halls of the rooms of the ship were made of organic materials breaking down into the Earth after many decades well wouldn't that be the sea breaking in dissolving into the sea anyway after many decades emerged in the hostile environment of the ocean the company said Sunday in an Instagram post on a statue however Diana is still resting upright among miles of debris like the Eternal Roman deity she is timeless and she is rediscovered thanks to Expedition 2024 it added as scientists rate to preserve its history the legendary recreus slowly perishing in 2019 footage from a series of dives by uh exploration team from Triton submersibles revealed the effects of Sal corrosion metal eating bacteria and deep current action on the uh decomposition of the ship and that's pretty much yeah I did see a photo of this it was more way more Blue from the 80s with the Robert Ballard uh Expedition the statue seems to be relatively intact there's sediment obviously and I don't know if that leg is buried under the settlement or or that piece is missing but that could be preserved that could be recovered and preserved I don't have an issue with that per se but let's focus here on the bow and let's look at some other images for comparison as you can see here if I can get this to work on this piece here and almost a little bit here uh the railing starting to disintegrate the current slowly peeling it off and eventually it reached a breaching point and yeah the railing ultimately fell off so here's how the uh the K works here on the recre of the Titanic the Titanic was made out of Iron and Steel yes there were wood and other you know uh elements used but the Iron and Steel on the Titanic which was not cheap steel at the time there's that myth going around that Titanic used inferior steel and all that that is not true by today's standards the Ste SK used on the Titanic is inferior why because we've had 100 plus years of of developing and and manufacturing steel uh since that time right so by today's standard the steel isn't up to par but for the era the steel was pretty good right now you'll hear all sorts of conspiracy theorists and so-called experts saying this was wrong that was wrong blah blah blah the Titanic steel was no better or worse than most of the ships sailing at the time now I have to remember the Titanic was held together with rivets over a skeleton it was not welded together so you had overlapping pieces like this held together with rivets which were hot hot riveted in which means like the bolts the screws the rivets were I can't do it because I only have two hands here put in hot and expanded held the ship together right as the Titanic is 2 and a half miles beneath the surface of the ocean the bacteria excuse me which is new bacteria newly discovered bacteria leeches the iron from the steel similar to how tooth decay actually works what what tooth decay happens in the human mouth you get the bacteria that eats away at at your teeth causing a cavity right and it's the waste from the bacteria just basically bacteria that's acidic and leeches away the minerals from your tooth and thus you get tooth decay that's why it's very important to floss and brush uh with the Titanic it's not all that dissimilar the bacteria leeches the iron out of the steel right and this is a very rudimentary understanding of this how this process works and it leaves this waste product known as a rustical right it's slowly sapping away the iron uh out of the steel and wiening the steel So eventually with you know with um 2 and a half miles worth of water pressure on it you you have currents where the Titanic is um on the seabed there are a lot of currents James C famously described the wreck of the Titanic as an old drafty house you know with the currents acting like the wind right sooner or later these pieces were going to uh weaken and I guess the current is moving this way and you could see in uh in this image here if I could zoom in this railing is already starting to you know break away from its foundations and eventually just caught up with it and off it went so that's the current state of the wreck it's sad could you you know I I did a recent video about raising the Titanic uh that video I was reacting to basically the people who did had no idea what the hell they were talking about could you place the railing back back on the Titanic in that area I suppose you could I mean if you welded it I guess you could solder or weld but why would you do why would you even bother doing that like could you repair that you'd have to create all new types of machinery and I don't I don't know if welding would work based on the condition of the steel and I don't even know if you could weld something that deep I'm not a welding expert by any means means but if you were to do that which I don't see why you would um I don't even know if if the steel with have the strength to remain could you recover that steel uh that piece of railing yeah you know where it is you could recover it they've recovered bigger pieces of the hull yeah so it is recoverable will they do that I don't know I um you see when it comes to recovering artifacts from the Titanic I have I'm very divided on the one hand the wreck should be preserved pieces of the wck should be recovered and preserved for future history on the other hand personal items items belonging to victims I believe if you can identify say like a suitcase or something if you can identify personal belongings that belong to this passenger or that passenger uh I'm under the impression that if you recover those items they should go back to descendants uh of the family in which they owned uh they were owned by so there was a there was a um TV special back in uh I think it was 88 87 or 88 live from the Titanic with Terry seales or something where they actually shown artifacts recovered from the wreck of the Titanic and uh the host I think it was Terry savales said oh we'll work to get these items returned to their family members of the of of the victims I don't think that ever happened again I don't know it's been a while since I've seen that I remember seeing that as a kid as a recording I don't know but yes you have to think of the Titanic and this is kind of a morbid analogy but I think it's an accurate one the Titanic itself is like a decaying body right it is a grave site of over 1500 people it should be treated with the respect it deserves every time you send a submarine down to the wreck of the Titanic and that lands on uh the wreck you risk not only the submarine but you risk damaging the wreck James Cameron himself uh banged into uh the the side of the Titanic on one of his Expeditions allegedly caused damage I'm not quite sure where uh there are areas where the submersibles not only James Cameron submersibles but uh like um Robert Ballard submersibles Alvin uh the Alvin submersible the French submersible infir by the uh the entrance to the grand staircase where the submers I would land to send rovs into the grand staircase those areas are deteriorating far more rapidly from the weight of the submersibles landing on it exploring the wreck so I think at this point how long will the Titanic last it's going to slowly deteriorate over time like a dead body buried in a grave time is going to win this fight right and sooner or later the Titanic came from nature like all things you know came from nature come from elements of nature was manufactured it's going to slowly return our goal now should be to document and preserve as much as possible as for raising the Titanic I don't think that's a remotely plausible or feasible if you really want to keep the Legacy going projects like Titanic honor and Glory which is a virtual Recreation uh the Clive Palmer Titanic replica which he claims is going to be made I think that's a good idea you want to remember the ship alive you can send remote operated Vehicles down to the wreck and lay Reeves and all sorts of things you can do that but I think at this point presid reservation of the wreck is of most importance and I think a replica would be the best way to honor the ship as it was alive you know going to museums like uh here in the US there's uh the Pigeon Forge Titanic Museum which I hear is pretty good there's the Titanic exhibit in Las Vegas there of course is Titanic Belfast uh where the ship was built um I think that's the best way to do it but yeah the wreck is deteriorating it's sad but it's not at all unexpected and one day maybe within our lifetimes maybe not I think the I think this section of the bow will remain well past our lifetimes I think the railing will continue to fall off but I think this part uh the proud plow the bow of the uh this section is called the plow with the ship cuz we're plow through the ocean uh will the bow the for Castle deck will remain I think the um let's see let's see if I can get a better image here like this section will remain uh this section here let's zoom in a little bit the upper super structure the well deck you see all these multiple cracks in the hole and it peeling eventually this is all going to cave in backwards on itself uh as you can see here the forward Mass that's already collapsed in on itself uh but this section of the Titanic right here the The Forecastle deck I think that will remain for a few more centuries but the railing is going to deteriorate um but the ship is eventually going to collapse and on itself backwards moving forward that's what I predict is going to happen as you can see here's a another version here so yeah everything in nature it all comes from nature it all Returns To Nature um the best way to preserve it is is to document it and keep the memory going anyway this is Al thank you so much for watching I'll catch you guys later peace
