The Seattle Seahawks Trevis Gipson Trade Is Actually Genius... | Film Analysis |

just a few days ago the Seattle Seahawks and Mike McDonald decided to trade a pass rusher in derell Taylor a guy who was actually pretty good at getting to the quarterback however was pretty much unreliable when it came to the running game but they just added another Edge rusher a guy who can come off the bench add some versatility and a guy that not only can play the pass but can also help stuff the run as well Travis Gibson a younger Edge rusher who in 2021 had seven sacks five forced fumbles as well as four run stuffs a couple of pass deflections he is on his way to the Seahawks and what I wanted to do in this video was kind of break down his film and show you Seahawks fans exactly what you're getting in Travis Gibson and why I believe this is an upgrade um overall from Daryl Taylor Maybe not specifically in the pass rush department but run stuffing being able to deflect balls at the line of scrimmage I think the versatility goes a long way and I'm going to show you exactly why I really do think this is a steal of a trade before we jump in though give me a letter grade in the comments down below and a record prediction for the Seahawks with that being said let's dive into the film all right here we go first play I want to show you what we're going to do is we're actually going to show you the play and then we're kind of going to break down what we saw so here we go first play counter outside great job by Travis Gibson getting into the Lane and help stopping um you know this play right now obviously we got a quick little counter we're going to get a pulling um you know Guard we're going to get a pulling tight end obviously to this side of the field but Travis Gibson does a really good job one playing The Edge setting that edge but then having the body control to get back into this play right stop on a dime use that body control to get back into the play and create a beautiful tackle for maybe a loss of one I mean that is huge these are the things that d Taylor wasn't adding to the Seahawks at all kind of Tak him off the field for a bunch of different um you know first and 10 second and 10 second and fives third and twos right he was pretty much just off the field in those scenarios because he was such an unreliable in terms of run stuffing but here's another play I absolutely love by Travis Gibson we're going to see a full Slide by the offensive line um just going this way every single person trying to get the running back out that way we're going to see this dude Travis Gibson get off the line of scrimmage so much quicker than anybody else we'll go back and watch it in slower time that way you can really tell makes a great run stuff here but I want to display to you how quickly he gets off the line of scrimmage boom I mean this dude is already moving before one two three four five five people on that offensive line he is already in motion I mean that is huge great play by Gibson the reaction time is something um I really do love about him in his game it works so well and not only the running game but also getting to the quarterback um as well and we're going to watch so many more plays where he just looks like an absolute Threat all right here's another one we're going to see him attack left swim move inside um get a really good pass rush rep here obviously doesn't come away with the sack I think the guard does a really good job um you know kind of getting back into this play he he's going to help double team here and then cut back and help out on the pass rush by Travis Gibson but again look at this move here right attack or attack outside swim move back inside beautiful move there by Gibson and you know this dude has been doing this pretty consistently when he's on the football field just attacking attacking attacking and you know I'm excited to see what he can do here in Seattle obviously when you look at the Seahawks and their depth J right now they're not a team that needs a ton of pass rush you know depth uh but obviously using or losing Daryl Taylor does hurt a little bit but adding this guy the versatility is huge off this Edge now let me know what you guys think so far about his film I think he's been really good here this play he's going to attack the outside get that leverage get underneath the tackle now it's not going to result in a sack here but does draw a holding penalty which is pretty huge here again so I mean this is just one game of footage by the way every single snap he he's giving it his all he's going all in really trying to make these big plays that's all right here's a nice play he's going to attack the outside shoulder of the tackle he's is going to push him out and then attack in a good beautiful move here he's going to attack push outside bounce back in force that football to come out a lot earlier guys we can talk about this all day long whenever you're an edge rusher or anyone on this defensive line right if you're anybody you're going to be able to force pressure in the quarterback and what that does is you you can force one of five different possibilities a bad throw a bad decision and a sack a force fumble interception you can force so many different things just to throw away and right here you could tell Gibson forces this ball l so early if we had someone in this position where they were looking at the quarterback if this was a Zone coverage man this would have been a pick um in a big time play for the defense all because Travis Gibson's ability to put pressure on Malik Willis I believe on that play again those are the things you love to see here we go we got a slow oh another beautiful swim move here by Gibson boom attack the outside bounce back in another beautiful Drop job there again gets uh some good help offense by number 70 the the guard he's been doing that a ton this game again forces that football out early gives his team a chance to maybe force a turnover with this bad throw and Gibson Gibson's fun to watch here we go so maybe we got to contain the edge beautiful right containing that edge here off chest not forcing him back inside now people don't understand how you know valuable this is whenever you can set the edge forcing the running back to come back go up the the A or B or C Gap it it allows your defense to already be there right you have so many guys in this area it's so massive and again another reason why this is probably a better uh player than Daryl Taylor overall maybe not just getting to the quarterback but all these other plays the block shed ability um the IQ everything is there for Travis Gibson and we go attack the inside boom get back out force that football out to come football to come out a little bit early again another good rep here wow just power on that one so we've seen speed off the edge we've seen swim move we've seen a power move we've seen good block shedding again forces that football out a little bit early here's another one getting off that Ed edge trying to force the quarterback up and then boom continues to oh see see look at that this is this is what the work at the gets you right on this play this is what you love to see off this Edge again right tackle does a good job maybe even holds as well contains him to the outside but to continue to work right continue to fight for a sack gets one again man every single one of these highlights showed something different either him getting to the quarterback him stopping the running back in the back field the power move the swim move the speed to get outside I think everything you look at when you talk about Travis Gibson is really really d Dynamic versatile and I think that he's a guy that's going to find his way on the football field early on for the Seahawks
