we have in store for you today a big 12 show out and the implications could last for the rest of the season as we'll see a team fresh and ready to go off of by week the Arizona State sundevils taking on the 12th ranked team in the land the Oklahoma State Cowboys for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's te this one Cowboys will kick it off to get us underway he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 so Arizona State's offense will take the first swing of the game and they're LED out there by a man who will carry the ball plenty in this one guys well it's real simple he's the best player on their team they have got to force feed this guy the football David no doubt about it the off defense goes through him excited to see how they've built this offense and how many different ways they can get him touches now they'll run the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the 27 from the gun wants to pass catch in the middle it's Smith that one could really put this drive into high gear as they have a first down at the 37 okay there's a reason third down is called the money what a great find by the quarterback great job finding his receiver uh at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way in deciding who wins a football game and the sundevils will snap it on First and 10 [Applause] pulls and fires it complete to the right and he's almost to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first [Applause] down grabbed behind the line it's mlan and they'll bring him down but not before he picks up the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of down and that's good enough for a first down off the play fake on first down to throw got him downfield and they are finding some space in this defense he's got it down to the 25 I'm a big believer in taking shots early in the game and being aggressive and showing my team I got confidence in them let's go make plays first drive already taking shots down the field nice job nice pitch nice catch [Applause] the Sun Devils want to move quickly comes out throwing on first down fires to the middle oh and he drops it on the Crossing rounde on first down he knew that defense was bearing down on him it'll be second down they'll run it from the gun stop is made but he picks up four yds down to the 21 yd line facing third and long from the 21 and hoping not to settle for a field goal from the gun wants to pass fires to the middle it's complete defense knocks him down immediately after the catch but now they're facing a goal to go situation from the seven and a first down run on the doorstep and he Sprints to the end zone go touchdown Arizona State you love as a head coach to watch your offense take the field and establish a rhythm and consistency the way they did there everything they dialed up was working to Perfection they go 10 plays on the opening drive and cap it off with a [Music] touchdown getting set for the point after is on for the extra point [Applause] and the extra point makes it seven nothing he marked 78 yds down the field and he found his way to the end zone from the seven to C it returner is going to try to see what he can get and the coverage team able to make the tackle so the Oklahoma State Cowboys offense headed onto the field our first look at them today the offense set for a first down play wide receiver coming across in motion to the ground with the back fighting off the defender just wanted to find a little space to run and EES out some to get it up to the 21 they'll go to the ground dragged down at the 26 after a pick up of five setting up for a first and 10 from the 26 and back a first down leaves it with the back he breaks a tackle they make the Stop and that will likely bring us to the end of the first quarter on the second on the ground it's Gordon and that's the end of the line on that run and it's the end of the line for the first quarter that's the end of the quarter and Arizona state has the lead guys let's have a look at the stats as we played one period now to see if these guys can get back in the game in the second quarter they're going to keep this drive going they'll have to make a play on Third and long from the 26 got it in the middle it's Gordon and he's not going to get there the defense Stands Tall and makes the stop a high kick trying to pin them deep good job by the coverage unit to stop the Return Man Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field David they'd love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't lying they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they execute and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their he and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the stop trying play action floating away the quarterback scrambled around but the defense able to scramble him and turn it into a sack you know the entire concept of the playaction fake is to slow down the rush didn't work no they didn't bite on it which was a great defense they didn't bite on they knew it was in a run played pass continued to get to the quarterback and get the quarterback on the ground and the sundevils will bring the punt team on the field getting our first look of the afternoon at the punter a high kick let's see if he can pin him back deep in their own end Oklahoma State hoping to get the pistols firing on offense running back searching for a hole he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 they'll go right back to him squirts across the 30 to the 32 a pick up of five now facing a third and long wants to throw it's Bowman unloads it left right on the money to the outside he dragged the toe and how about the ball plac but only the receiver could get him and that's the first down the give to the tail back and he's able to find a little bit of Running Room before they get him down the clock has reached the two-minute Mark and they have a chance to at least cut into this lead before the break on second down he'll let it fly a little too much on that one just out of his reach that last incomplete pass has them staring at a third and three they'll go to the air on third and short quickly complete he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down the Cowboys come to the line with a fresh set of down for the it's complete to the left he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down how about this they go empty on second and two finds a spot in the middle really nice job there by both guys to throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down first they're threatening to score and they'll throw it gets it out quickly I think really good wide receivers do a good job of making every route kind of look the same you could tell he this looked like a vertical route so if I'm a DB I'm bailing and all of a sudden he sits that hitch down nice job by the wide receiver create enough separation to create a positive game caught near the sticks it's Gordon and they knocking down but he got past the line the game and now a chance to pull even first and goal as we get late in the first half that's it Fly pulls it in in the end zone touchdown Cowboys and how about this play by the offense first and goal from the one yd line everything says that one with some aggression for the point after and let's check in with Kevin Conor's in the studio Kevin hey fellas here's a quick update on a top 15 Clash today Clemson is currently ahead early right now in Death Valley but they just haven't been able to separate themselves offensively they're up by a field goal Over Louisville Wass to throw on first down fires to the big fella we've got our eye on this one and everything else going on throughout the day guys thanks for the update on that one Kevin let us know when it goes final the quick out and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one the offense quickly calls time out to stop the clock unloads to the right nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away this offense has a second down play he's looking to throw he uncor one deep and the DB making a huge play knocking it away down field now facing a third and long from the 50 yd line from the gun wants to pass quarterback doing what he does best he can move the defense going to stop the clock with the timeout they want to make sure they have everybody on the same page the sundevils will line up to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away here's the punt High into the air signals for the fair Catch and hauls it in just shy of the 30 just a few seconds remaining here as they try to put something up before halftime [Applause] these little gains can start to add up as he gets it up to the 34 they'll use a timeout right before halftime maybe time for one or two more plays hand off from the gun runs through a tackle and the defense able to get him down and that should bring us to the end of the half we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halftime update all right fellas looks like you've had a very enjoyable day there today in still waterer and a compelling first half for a variety of reasons yes there's a substantial lead to talk about but I think it all starts with this defense that has more than made it share big plays if things keep trending in this direction you can bet a ton of those backs and receivers are going to spend a lot of time in ice baths before the end of the day and with that let's head back to the home of the pokes and boom picking stadium and the sundevils will kick it off to start the second half looking for an alley from inside his own 10 really disciplined job by the coverage unit to got down there and make the stop at the 19 trying to find his man on first down complete downfield and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and that's a first [Applause] down here's a quick throw out to the left this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in Pre snap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm and the Cowboys get up to move the chains they'll snap it from the 47 on first down to the ground he's got it again at the 35 he's got room and they drag him down but not before he picked up the first down well right away after picking up the first down they go right back to their playmaker at running back and I love the push they got up front getting a hat on a hat opening a huge hole for the back and you become so hard to defend when you can run the football ball successfully on first down you're starting like that now what opens up play action now you're making me play pass and run throws toward the end zone and he intercepts it and they'll close in on him after a good return on the interception what a nice catch by the defensive back listen a lot of times you see DBS get in position to make plays but there's a reason they play DB and not wide receiver great job finishing the interception catching the ball making a big play Arizona state is going back on offense and they come out looking for a [Applause] spark and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball now it's second and 10 from the 15 they'll throw again after the incompletion working the middle it's complete and they'll stop it just short of the first down just inches away from moving the steps third coming they make the stop but there is a flag on the field we'll see what that's all about hold [Applause] it they say you could call hold on every play well they did on that one on Third and long he has to throw for it it's caught downfield love to see these third down conversions on offense and they're out to their own 39 yd line that's the leaves it with the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple they'll line up for a second down play they'll Run play action right down the middle pass on the way it's picked off he goes down right there but not before coming up with the big interception QBs have to understand when I'm throwing against zones I got to manipulate guys with my eyes I might have to look one direction to create an opening to throw that ball or zip that ball in I got to use Touch it's really hard when all eyes are on me and you can tell the quarterback was not ready and did not make a good [Music] throw Oklahoma state has it back in the offenses on the field wants to throw on first down off the play fake he strike downfield put it right on him sweet play good pick up Andel mov the chains with the first down first now leave it with him and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up the offense down to the 22 on First and 10 to the air it's Bowman and he'll Chuck that one away and saved the down nobody was able to get open man what a finish we could have tie game third quarter here second and 10 this time it's complete they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down now this defense could really use a stop on third down as the offense has had its way they get him on the ground and that'll be the final play of this third period they fought tooth and nail through three and it is all locked up as we take a look at the stats we've swapped sides of the field and we are ready for the Finish as the fourth quarter gets [Music] underway they'll dial up the run on first and goal and they tried the middle of this defense and that is not happening and the D deny them on second and goal they're bringing heat he just tossed that one out of bounds you avoid the sack you avoid the turnover you've got more plays here on third down [Applause] from the gun wants to pass and they fail to hook up on third down so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge [Applause] spot he got it all field goals are not created equal guys kicks in the fourth quarter Take the Lead they just seem to carry so much more weight so give that young man credit for getting out there and knocking that thing through the uprights all hold the pressure with all the eyeballs on him he delivered after putting up a fre spot the kickoff unit set to go from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 hand off from the shotgun solid run picks up six and gets it to the 28 six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four he's looking to throw grabbed in the middle it's mlan he makes the tackle at the 33 after a pick up of five and this set of downs gets started from the 33 first and 10 they'll give it to the back and you can forget running in the middle against this defense they got nothing on the last play it's second and 10 from the gun running back gets to give I never know if it's grammatically correct to say a team is being out physical you hear it a lot in football though that's happening in this game they are just not getting the push they need all game long up front to have any success when you decide to run the Sun Devils will punt it away on fourth down number great contact on that ball as it just hangs up in the sky might have thought he'd want to try to pick up a few yards there but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35 yd [Applause] line he's got an open man good pick up there as he gets the first down and they'll Mark him at the 48 the Cowboys in the hurry up and if it ain't broke don't fix it right this is what got this team in this position to win this game a aggressive offense taking shots here we are in the fourth quarter they've got the lead Why Stop Now on the ground trying to pull the plug on this clock this offense thinks that they have enough left in the tank here to run the football and run all the time off the clock they got the lead late didn't get the first down on that last one but it's not going to surprise anybody if they turn around and hand it off again here the give to the back out of the crowd and now he's got room and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up they'll use a timeout here you have to be certain at this point in the game using his legs it's Gordon nice solid form tackle from this sophomore timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible you got to believe they just want to run it take care of the football and keep that clock moving on second and nine and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense they'll try to bully their way for the first that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down and now on fourth down they will put it on the shoulders of the kicker to save them with this foot it's good and that was dead solid perfect that makes the score Oklahoma State Arona [Music] state so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three- spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down on the run from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Arizona state has the ball back and the offense making its way onto the field they're working that left side they stop him just a link or two short of the first and man what they can do on second down here every second is Meaningful and they save a few of them with the got to get everybody lined up quickly time winding away and they've got to push the ball down the field and it was work the gamble but the long pass is incomplete and here we go down a score they'll go for it on fourth [Applause] down and he's to the 48 yd line that'll be good enough for a first down no time to waste here they've got to get set and pick up chunk yardage to the air on first down and the ball is intercepted going the other way and he's got room into the end zone unimpeded except for that piece of laundry on the field this might be coming back [Applause] def what a huge call there they had the turnover instead the roughing the passer call takes it all away they'll throw it on first down how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion now on second down after the incompletion he's looking to throw pocket starts to collaps and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 you want to talk about building confidence coming through with much plays making the winning plays at the right time can really set the course for the rest of the season yeah reys maturity and experience matters and this team has guys that have played a lot of snaps they've seen a lot of looks and they've lost close games like this in the past that wasn't the case today David too many guys out there making big time plays and I think belief is what you build that confidence you know you're going to win you don't think you're going to win you know you're going to make that play in the big moment that continues to build on week to week success and you look up and you're like dang we strugg a couple wins together that's going to
