campaign will last through September 9th. Meanwhile pro-Palestinian protesters are already being arrested after more demonstrations started outside colleges in New York City. It comes as pressure ramps up for a solution to end the fighting in the Middle East. Connor Hansen has more tonight. Reporter >> Classes are back in session at Columbia University, the epicenter of college protests over the war in Gaza that spread across the country. Some protesters have already been arrested outside the campus. And inside, a statue was covered in red paint. Demonstrators accused the university of backing Israel in a war they see as unjust. >> It's hard not to feel a little rage sometimes when the entire world is sitting around doing absolutely nothing to stop a genocide. In the 21st century. >> But for Jewish students, a frightening return after several instances of anti-Semitism were reported last school year. I mean, most first years minds are consumed by thoughts of parties and schoolwork. >> My mind is still overcome with images of terrorism and brutality. >> In Israel, people took to the streets after six hostages were executed, including 23 year old Israeli American Hirsh Goldberg-polin. Their bodies were found over the weekend after being kidnaped by Hamas on October seventh. Many blaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not reaching a hostage deal sooner. >> We're out to destroy the military capabilities of Hamas and the governing capabilities of Hamas, and we're well on our way to achieving both. >> The white House weighed in on the ongoing efforts to end the fighting. >> He is passionate and committed and wants to see this happen, and his team is working around the clock to get this deal done. >> Columbia University's new president has been meeting with students on both sides, but so far, protesters insist they will
